Absolutely ADORED this mascara!! I have the typical short, stubby Asian lashes and this mascara made them look amazing. I received it for Christmas from a close friend and used it everyday until it dried out. If it wasn't for the high price, I would purchase again in an instant. Overall, definitely recommend this mascara. :)

I had heard so many good things about this mascara I was really excited to try it. I bought it for around $40 which is the most I've ever spent on a mascara before so I was expecting quite a lot from it due to the price I was paying.
After using it for 2 weeks I have to admit I'm quite disappointed with it. It does not hold curl well at all and I find it flakes off easily and I end up with black spots all underneath my eyes after a few hours of wear.
On the plus side it does thicken my lashes quite a lot (however not as much as covergirl's lashblast) and I can get a nice effect. It also has a really nice florally sort of smell to it and the packaging is lovely. It comes in a nice gold tube but at the end of the day I don't give a damn what the tube looks like just whether the product itself works well or not!
Overall it is an alright mascara but for the price that it is, there are drugstore products that are a lot cheaper and do a better job - so no, I will not buy this again.

EDIT 04/08/11
I have tried so hard to make this mascara work and am SO DISAPPOINTED with it! It smudges, flakes, doesn't dry, and clumps! For such an expensive mascara this should not be happening. It irritates my eyes and I don't have sensitive skin/eyes at all. I get much better results from drugstore mascaras and could not recommend this product to anyone. DO NOT BUY.

The brush's bristles flattened out after a few weeks.. I don't know why, but the bristles just flattened out.. I had to fluff it up each time before I used it, which is quite messy.
Also, it does not hold a curl well. The one redeeming factor is that it doesn't smudge. Disappointing.

I love this mascara EXCEPT for the fact that it is so pricey. It wouldn't be so bad if the tube didn't dry up within a month of purchase. If you don't mind the expense, or if you just want to try it out, here's what I can tell you about it:
-Awesome volume! I usually put four to five coats on each eye and my lashes look HUGE!
-Great length. Seriously, it makes my lashes so long they touch my eyelids. Which would be great except I have oily lids so I was constantly having to monitor my lids to make sure I didn't have black smudges up there.
-Meh curling power. Curl isn't a huge deal for me, though.
-Minimal flaking and racoon eye (except for the upper lid problem listed above)
-Very easy to remove.
-A tube never lasted me more than a month; hence the issue I had spending $30 a month for mascara.
-Has a very strong scent, which might be too much for someone with really sensitive eyes.
I wish it wasn't so expensive, otherwise this would be my HG, for sure.

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS MASCARA!
prior to owning this, i used maybelline colossal and thought that was my "holy grail" mascara. I had heard about the ysl and saw that nordies was having a buy two mascara get one free so i decided to try the ysl.
i am amazed at how wonderful this mascara is. it gives my lashes so much length AND volume with ABSOLUTELY NO CLUMPS.
i took one star off because of the price. $30 is ridiculous for a mascara, i admit, but that won't stop me from buying it. new holy grail mascara!

This is probably one of the better mascaras I've tried but still not convinced this is the one.
Pros:
- nice deep rich black color
-scent is lovely
- decent volume, great length
-minimal flaking, lashes are soft
Cons:
- more than 3 coats, it clumps
- doesn't hold curl too well
If GA Eyes to Kill (Excess) doesn't convince me, will repurchase YSL.

I was given this as a gift from by bf, so fortunately I didn't have to fork out the money for it myself! I've been using it for about 5months now, and I think it's just about given up the ghost. It's completely dried out and I am gutted.
I used this every day while I could because I am a dramatic lashes kinda girl. It gave me really great volume and separation without clumping. My lashes are pretty long and curled anyway, so it just enhanced that slightly and didn't weigh them down at all. My eyelash tips are really really light, they're practically see-through, and this coated them really nicely and made them stand out, so I was pleased with that.
It stayed well, didn't flake or smear, and my eyelashes felt fine, not crispy and dry. Towards the end I was getting these little clumpy blobs on my eyelashes, but that's because the mascara was on it's last legs and really needed to be retired.
I would love to buy this product again, but I just can't afford it. Maybe when Christmas comes around I'll put it on my wishlist...
I love the classic YSL packaging, it's sturdy without being chunky, and it's still really elegant.

I love this mascara! It's probably the best I have ever tried, too bad it's just SO expensive. It gives amazing volume, rich dark black color, enough length, and doesn't clump lashes together. It's the perfect consistency, not too wet or dry. It doesn't dry out in the tube either. It lasts all day/night and no flaking whatsoever. It even smells good, like roses! The packaging is typical gorgeous YSL. Ahhhh, but the price. Yikes. Other than that, it's incredible. I suggest everyone should try it at least once.

I really like this mascara- it's less clumpy than Dior Show, which I had been using for awhile. I also used Hypnose Drama, which was also more clumpy.
But, because volumizing mascaras are designed to falsely make your lashes thicker, it does still have a thick, kind of sticky, weird consistency, but I think I would rather have that than huge clumps.
My biggest complaint is the brush- it keeps collapsing on me- like I'll pull it out and the bristles will be all caved in so that it looks like the brush fell off or something. My mom said it happened to her friend who used it too.
Also it is VERY expensive, it's kind of ridiculous...I wish YSL would lower the price, but I will probably buy it again because it is a pretty good mascara.

meh. i received this as a GWP and im really glad i didnt pay the exorbitant price for this mascara. the product is just okay .. it clumps and flakes a bit, and i would expect a mascara that was this overpriced to be absolutely perfect. back to my standby CG lashblast.

I always used YSL mascaras from the day the line came out. They use to be marvelous many years ago. However, I do not know what they did to this one. It use to be a better formula when it first came out.
Noir Radical smeared all over me in 15 minutes, so I returned that one. I was advised to get this one. The first time I used this mascara it was very black and voluminous. I did get some smearing however but nowhere as bad at the Noir Radical.
I used this mascara about two weeks after the first application, and within the two weeks this mascara dried so badly, I could barely get it on my lashes. It also lost it's very black color. It appeared more dark grey/black. I had to put a drop of water in the mascara to get it going.
It takes a long time to dry, and I normally curl my lashes again after the mascara is dried. I waited about 15 minutes, curled my lashes again, and the mascara flaked all over my face.
Awful mascara. Will not buy again.

For about 18 years I've pulled my eyelashes out and with a lot of therapy I've finally managed to grow them back again. I feel like I've got some catching up to do in the world of mascaras and this is the first one that I went for - Faux Cils has a brilliant reputation and with over 1,000 reviews and a rating of 4/5 I had to see what all the fuss was about.
This mascara is not cheap at all, but then with the amazing gold packaging, great reputation and being a designer brand, that was fair enough. I paid about £21 for it or thereabouts.
I purchased it in black. I have to say that when I first tried the mascara I was impressed, very impressed, I compared to to Bourjois Volume Glamour, it gave so much more ooomph, it gives length AND volume in one and it's lovely and creamy, when you pull the wand out you don't get loads of excess either which is great.
I purchased this mascara 2 months ago and since purchasing I have to say that like a lot of people my feelings towards it have changed. Unfortunately, faux cils has become somewhat less of a wonder mascara and a lot more of a clumpy...not mess... but just not wow anymore. When I apply it I tend to get sort of beads or tiny clumps of mascara sticking on my lashes - especially at the ends, it appears that it's started to dry out and to be honest, reality has sort of kicked in. I'm not feeling forgiving towards this mascara anymore, I'm feeling like designer or not, great rep or not... I paid over £20 for this and well... I expect at the very least 3 months worth of usage from it in the same condition it was in when I purchased it. I very much did read the instructions and made sure it was closed tightly. It's still useable but in all honesty my preference is going towards my other mascaras now - and none of them are designer brands (mostly bourjois who does excellent mascaras). It's sad really... it seems to work well for a lot of people but not for me. I wish it came in tiny bottles so i could buy them for nights out or travelling or something...that might ease the pain.
My advice is that if you buy this mascara, don't save it for special occasions like I did and only use it once a week - use it as much as possible, it's clear it has a shelf life and that once you let air in it starts to dry the formula out so just use it up! For the money you need to get as much as you can out of it. I don't regret trying it, but it's not a rebuy i'm afraid.

This is one of the most expensive mascara's out there, so I was really expecting great results, especially from such an esteemed brand. Boy was I disappointed! I did really like the packaging from the glossy durable look to the satisfyingly soft click you get when the wand is screwed back in (don't know any other mascara that does that), but that's where the plus points end. I like to add volume and length to my lashes, and though this was OK, save your money girls because you can get same/better results with many of the drugstore brands. Try Max Factor 2000 Calorie, or any of the volumising L'oreal ones.

Absolutely adore this mascara! For some reason my recent run ins with high end mascara has been impressive, it makes me not want to go back to drug store brands anymore.
This mascara gives nothing less then dense black lashes with amazing curls(I purchase this in something Noir or maybe it's just Noir, I cant remember!).
I love this mascara soo much, just like my Estee Lauder Sumptuous this does not clump, flake or smudge. Highly recommended!
If you are like me before, cause I few years ago, I had several bad experience with high end mascara, dont buy these straight away, go to a counter and play around with them first, test it out, and then decide for yourself.

My HG for now....I have a love hate relationship with this mascarra. I love love love the way it makes my lashes look. comes off easy and does not irritate my eyes. I HATE that I have to buy a new tube about every 3 weeks because it dries up...

I have bought this mascara 3 or 4 times already. The only thing I do not like is the price, which often drives me to test out other mascaras hoping to find a replacement that works just as well, but I haven't yet. The length you get with this mascara is not extreme and neither is the volume. However, all around it gives you a bit of everything...respectable length, a good amount of volume, decent curl, and makes your lashes look lush and plush. Stays all day, doesn't travel, and doesn't flake. It doesn't make you look like you are wearing falsies, but it does make you look like you have the most beautiful lashes you can get without them!
*UPDATE* Did they change the formula?! I bought another tube of what was once a fabulous mascara, but it did NOTHING for my lashes. No volume. No thickening. Barely any length. I couldn't believe it! Will not be purchasing again!
