I bought this having searched fruitlessly for hours for the right shades of green, blue and purple for my hazel-green eyes. I almost missed this little quad on the shelf but was delighted to find four useable, harmonious colours that were just what I was looking for and so well priced, just NZ$19.95. You can use these colours so many different ways, I love wetting my eyeshadow brush and using the green as an eyeliner with the pale purple on my lids. Good quality product from Maybelline I will be buying more colours soon!!

I've been using Maybelline shadows for years and have had very little to complain about. I've read a lot of reviews that say the shadows aren't very pigmented, but I would have to strongly disagree. I found the opposite to be true. Although I do see better results when I apply it with my finger rather than a brush or sponge applicator. In fact the only complaint I would have is that Maybelline doesn't seem to make any matte finish shadows, only shimmer and pearl. Other than that I have to say that I love and will continue to purchase Maybelline eye shadows.

I have this product in "Almond Truffles" which is a trio. The colors are a soft whitish/seashell color w/ minimal shimmer, a neutral brown/violet with slight shimmer, and a basic taupe. This is a perfect everyday eye color set for me - I am very fair & have hazel eyes. The shadows don't have a lot of pigment, but the effect is pretty & natural & wears well. This product is replacing my old favorite "Urban Basics" by Covergirl, of which I've outgrown the glitter! It's a bargain for the price.

I bought this in sweet mystique because the blue looked like it matched my grad dress perfectly. However, when I actually applied it it barely showed up at all. Same with the pink. The only decent shadow in the trio was the pale yellow, but I still had to layer it on heavily to get it to show up. the only way I would buy it again was for the yellow, which is a unique, hard to find color. The other 2 in the trio suck

I have this in three colors, City Lights (light shimmery gray), Seashell (very light shimmery pink), and Champagne Fizz (light shimmery tan). I bought city lights first, and it did not show up as well as i had expected it to, but it is good for opening up my eyes and making them look brighter. Seashell wasn't near as pigmented as i would have liked it to be, and looks almost just like city lights on my eyes. Champagne fizz seemed to be the worst pigmented of the three, barely showing up on my eyelids at all. I wouldn't recommend these colors if you want something that's noticeable.

Review on "Expert Eyes (Duo) in Grey Matters 300RS-16", Texture: Pearl/With shimmers, Colors: Left side of pan has a silver e/s; right side has a black/charcoal e/s but is not saturated (ie it's more of a dark black-ish grey color). Comparing this e/s to other brands in the same range as Maybeline, I find this is actually a pretty good e/s, much better than L'Oréal`s Wear Infinité. It has a LOT of pigment which I love, gives me nice dramatic eyes upon application. But there`s 2 jiffies I don`t like about it: (1) Although the powders are very finely milled and soft which i like, the sponge applicator cannot `hold on` to the loosened powder. Meaning, whenever I pick some up, a LOT of powder falls down. So often when i apply this onto my lids, i can see MANY tiny specks of eyeshadow under my eyes which I hate because then it ruins my perfectly made up face and i`ll need to spend quite a few minutes PICKING them up! DON`T WIPE them off because it has high pigment and you`ll just end up smearing the e/s under your eyes, creating dark circles! (2) The other thing i don't like is that it does not last long at all. I always test the quality of the e/s out by themselves first, so I don't use a base. Turns out they only last max 3 hrs b4 creasing and fading color (due to oil on my lids). Even with my Lancôme color dose base, it only lasts about 5 hrs! Usually when I layer on Lancôme`s base with lancôme or Dior eyeshadows, they last like for days (i`ve tested this out by not taking off eye makeup lol)! I originally bought this for 4$CAD just to test out how grey e/s work on me, I didn't want to splurge on something that I'm not even sure of, so this was a good investment. Overall, I like the instant drama Expert Eyes give me, but I will not repurchase since I NEED long lasting e/s.

This stuff is so bad. There is no pigment to the eyeshadows. No matter what colour I buy, they all turn out to be a metallic silver colour on my eyelids. The eyeshadow tend to cake up when putting it on and disappears within hours of application. There are way better eyeshadows out there

2 words: THEY SUCK. so bad. like, really, really suck. I've even tried the "new and improved" formula, and they still suck. In fact, I think they suck EVEN MORE, if that's even possible! No pigment whatsoever, chalky as all hell, creasing, no staying power, etc..etc..all the bad eyeshadow qualities. At least these are cheap, but still, Jane and Milani are cheaper and the quality is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better. The colors are pretty though, but pass by these unless you *want* to waste your money!

Have this in "Sweet Mystique", I purchased it to use as day shadow or highlighter at night because of the cute colors which are Light Pink, Light Yellow and Light Blue.
I decided to apply the blue for the first test, at it just came out as silver. So I applied the pink on the other eye, and I can't tell the difference. They're both just silver. I am so irritated that it seems to be impossible to get any shadows from Maybelline, Cover Girl, etc that aren't just shimmer. Would never buy this again as I don't care for cheap silvery eyes.
Edited to add: I originally applied this with my favorite brush applicator and got the silver. When I used a large foam applicator I actually got some color. It was cute, but still too shimmery and silver toned.

Expert eyes has some nice colour trios and I am often tempted to buy them. However, this is a resoundingly average product and you can do better in the drug store.
The major flaws is that it goes everywhere. Powder under your eyes etc. If you use a foam applicator (which comes with it) rather then a brush it does a better job, but then you really lose out in the pigment stakes.
That said, I do think the pigment in this product is generally okay.
It is just really powdery/chalky, not at all smooth.

I love Night Sky. It's a shimmery black that works great as a liner, and if you can pull it off (which I can't) it looks great as a full-on shadow as well. It is crease-proof and does not irriate sensitive eyes, just like it claims on the package, which is also nice. The applicator sucks though so I suggest getting a bulk pack of applicators for $1 to $2 at your local drugstore and using one of them.

I found these eye shadows quite nice actually :-) I liked the color and staying power. I have very, very fair skin and they showed up fine. The packaging is pretty crappy and I always end up using my own eye shadow brushes from Bonne Bell. *shrugs* They are good for the price.

DON'T EVER BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! It is by far the worst eyeshadow I have ever used!! It is sooo cheap! It has no pigment at all, so when you put it on you can't even see it! And I have very fair skin with freckles! The colors look very pretty, but don't be tempted to buy it! It's very low quality product! And it does crease!!

They may look pretty in the packaging, but it takes forever for me to get these to show up on my lids. Also, the packaging (especially for the quads) sucks. If anyone knows where I can find a decent set of neutral brown/nude eyeshadow shades, let me know, as I'm throwing these all out.

Awful. These shadows have no pigment, just powder. If you want inexpensive eye shadow, buy Nyx -- they're almost better than MAC! And they're cheaper than Maybelline.
