Last week I suffered from a horrible break out. Nothing was working for me so I decided to buy TTO. Let me tell you, this is one of the best purchases I've ever made! I purchased the 100% pure austrailian tea tree oil and use it as a toner all over my face. Literally 2 days later my skin cleared up!! I couldn't believe how great this worked for me. I rarely get bad breakouts but when I do they are horrible and take forever to clear up :( This is the only product that I feel actually worked for me and worked fast! It was a pretty good price, i got a 3 fl. oz bottle for $7 at Walmart and I can tell this bottle is going to last a pretty long time. Let me warn you, this stuff is very drying!! So only use it when needed and use with a good moisturizer. Overall I'm really impressed with TTO and definately reccommend it to anyone who suffers from a bad breakout :]

I just started using tea tree oil a few weeks ago and I can't believe this stuff. I hope I am not speaking too soon here, but I think this is actually stopping my break outs. I have generally good skin, but I still suffer from hormonal break outs frequently. Usually when I see a pimple forming, nothing I do to it will stop it. Now, If I see a pimple form and I put a dash of pure tea tree oil right on it, It literally stops it in its tracks and it just goes away and does not form. I also use it all over my face. I usually just mix a little in my moisturizer or use on a wet cotton pad. I am telling you, I have not had a pimple in nearly a month. Before this, I would have at least one or 2 on my face consistently at a time. Hormonal acne is a b*tch to get rid of, and I think I finally found something that can stop it. If anything changes I will edit this post because it is kind of early, but as of right now I am amazed and loving it. One con is of course the very strong smell, but it does go away so it's all good.
Update, While I still like this as acne treatment, unfortunately I have began my breakouts again in my usual areas. I am so bummed.

Tried a variety of brands and various dilution of this oil and the results are the same. This stuff broke me out even worse than using nothing at all. Turns out my skin is reactive to this stuff. Lesson learned. Just because it is natural doesn't mean that it is hypoallergenic.

I suffered from a terrible staph infection on my face that resulted in multitudes of sore red pimples. Every girl's absolute nightmare. I'm recovering from it now, but the two products that worked better than my actual prescribed medications were tea tree oil and apple cider vinegar applications. It seriously saved my skin! Tea tree oil is very powerfuls stuff though, and too much of it will cause severe flaking and drying and even burning of the skin. So one drop goes a long way. I use a Walgreens brand tea tree oil which as a dropper lid so you can dispense one droplet at a time. Very helpful! Also I make an exfoliating mask with the oil by mixing it with my daily cleanser and baking soda! It's very invigorating and cooling in the hot summer months. Also I find that a thin application of TTO is a good emergency acne treatment that calms even the roughest breakouts as good as,if not better than, benzoyl peroxide.

Oh Tea tree oil, let me sing thy praises!!! This is amazing stuff - works for acne, foot fungal issues, cold sores, herpes blisters, freshens laundry, chest congestion, yeast infections, destroys head lice, mold issues, etc etc.

I havent tried for some of these things as its been awhile since my children were in grade school and had head lice but I am going to let my daughter know about it in case one of her kids gets lice again.

A freind told me to put some on a hanky or washcloth and throw into the dryer for fresh smell, going to do today!

This is one of the only oils known to truly penetrate to beneath the surface of the skin. It has stopped pimples from every forming when I get them with the tea tree oil soon enough. Same with cold sores.

Mix with water in a spray bottle to clean your house naturally. Love it!

I am writing this review for 100% pure tea tree oil. The brand I've been using is natures gate but I've used others with as much success. I love, love, love tea tree oil for my acne! It is a miracle cure for me. I purchase this for $9.99 for a one-ounce glass apothecary bottle.

About ten months ago I started going through a super phase of adult acne. Horrifying skin condition... not quite oily but covered in zits, top to bottom, week to week. I tried everything and I could NOT get them to go away... the derm-doc prescribed Clindamycin/benzoyl peroxide gel (did nothing) and Epiduo with three more months of Minocyn antibiotics... nothing!

Enter tea tree oil! I got up the courage to try it as I was previously against "natural" remedies, but I was beaten down and eager to try anything that I hadn't tried before.

I started small, heeded the warnings about applying the oil in full strength to my face at first and mixed about ten drops in two ounces of water in a glass bottle, to use at night on my spots. I even put a mist-top on the bottle to mist the water/oil mixture on my face (This feels GREAT- Don't forget to shake it up before each spray, and definitely cover the eyes if you try this!) A few short weeks later, my spots were healing up. After about a month of this, with no averse reactions and slow but obvious healing, I stepped it up, dabbing it full strength on my spots after cleansing, before bed.

I have done this every-single-night and I am proud to say that I have had no averse reactions, and the best part?

my skin is CLEAR!!! No more painful sores, no more weeping skin, no more spending hundreds of dollars on concealers and foundations and expensive treatments from the derm and co-pays... I am so happy.

I love the cooling that Tea Tree oil gives my skin!! It felt so good to mist my skin with the oil/water mixture in the beginning; it really felt uber-soothing to my pimples on my skin. This brought my cystic pimples to the surface and dried them out without the scaly patches Epiduo gave. I still enjoy the feeling (and the smell, haha) its very nice after a long day.

It has been a few months since I have started the tea tree oil and now I am putting a few drops on my fingers after cleansing at night and rubbing it all over my jawline, cheeks, chin, nose, and a touch on my forehead. It is a bit drying (so do NOT forget to moisturize!) I use 100% pure hemp seed oil to remove my makeup and this helps impart some moisture that the tea tree oil removed, and it helps. I follow the hemp seed oil with philosophy high-foaming cleanser and follow with tea tree oil before bed.

I love love love love love my tea tree oil, and so glad to have taken the plunge to try it. The only thing it has not solved is my blackhead problem, and I have some moderate scarring from the spots that would open up (but never fully healed until the tea tree oil) but in the grand scheme of things, scars and blackheads are way easier for me to cover and much less painful than the pustules I was dealing with, and in a few months I'll work on those. For now, I am enjoying my pimple-free skin!! Love it.

Tea Tree Oil is awesome!! I am now able to stop buying at least one of my more expensive 10% Benzoyl-P products!! Happy Days!! This stuff is apparently the equivalent to using 5%BP and it totally works for my oily, acne-prone skin. I just put some on a cotton ball after washing my face with BP soap, (which I am trying to find a natural replacement to as well), then I put on some Jojoba oil mixed with a little bit of rose water...Absolutely Amazing results!! This has even helped get rid of an old keloid and old pimple scars!!

This is a regular on my sink. Will use it forever. The same as others I use two drops on moist pad and apply twice daily paying particular attention to t zone and around the sides of my nose. It is also a fantastic spot treatment for even the most cystic of pimples. It does tingle and make my sensitive skin red in the cheek area for a short time but my moisturizer sorts that out. I also use it in the washing with sheets and towels. I love the smell, reminds me of vicks vapor rub that my mum used to apply to my chest when I was sick. I am also planning to try lavender oil later on, might be soothing as a nightime toner. Just go out and get some!

I LOVE THIS! This helped clear my skin, one good way to use it is to wet a cotton pad and put 2 drops on it. Then use it as a toner on your face. It really cleans your face and brightens. I also used to always get cystic acne on my nose, but now i just swab some tea tree oil on my nose and I keeps my nose clear. I haven't gotten a cystic pimple on it since :]

Here's the deal on tea tree oil: It is a drying oil. Sounds kind of ironic, but that's what it is. In addition to providing sometimes inflamed portions of skin(due to acne) with a minty cool feel, it also makes a bomb exfoliator. NOT as strong as, say, AHA, but stronger than a regular scrub. It eliminated some stubborn blemishes on the spot. Not a miracle worker, but useful for the occasional blemish/dark spot that just won't dissapear.

I have a love/hate relationship with TTO. I have oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin so I have to be careful about what I use to clear up zits. TTO dries out my zits, but also leaves me with horrible red patches (chemical burns?) that peel for days and that i have to slather in vitamin E oil to calm.

After reading a few other reviews, I'm definitely going to try using it as a diluted toner to see if things improve!

EDIT: I started mixing in one drop of this with my moisturizer at night to help with breakouts. Wrong. This made me breakout MORE. I started getting small red pimples in place I don't usually get pimples. They're easily concealed and don't hurt much but still! This just proves that TTO is NOT for me.

EDIT II: The only way this works for me is if I mix this in with coconut oil as a pre-shampoo soak. My dandruff is pretty bad and this helps control it.

This review is not for 100% tea tree but diluted tea tree oil. Tea tree oil itself has natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal properties. Keep in mind that tea tree oil is an essential oil so they're meant to be mixed with a carrier oil such as almond oil (which is what I use but you can also substitute with olive oil). Since they're both oils they mix perfectly so you get a homogeneous solution. I personally use a 1/2 dilution so 50% almond oil and 50% tea tree. In the future (when I can afford it) I hope to mix it in a 33% almond oil, 33% tea tree and 33% vitamin e oil as vitamin E oil is known for reducing scars and fading out any marks on the skin. For the 1/2 dilution...the results? Glowy, smooth and soft skin, no appearance of new blemishes and the fading of old spots left from past blemishes.

For the record, I do not have acne but I have terribly uneven skin and spots from past blemishes that don't seem to fade. That and SUPER sensitive skin. Basically I have to wear foundation if I want to step outside the house looking descent. After using this regime I can go out without foundation because the concoction of oils seems to diffuse the blemishes and gives this wonderful evenness to my skin.

My routine for the past 4 weeks has been to cleanse my skin using Clean and Clear's 3 in 1 cleanser which has terrible reviews on MA but imo contains salicylic acid which in itself is a chemical exfoliator. Because the cleanser provides a nice deep clean my skin becomes dry if I do not immediately moisturize...so what do I do? I moisturize with my oil mixture and skin starts to even out after a couple hours.

Keep in mind that you should only use this oil immediately after cleansing otherwise your face will be an oil slick. Even with this procedure your face will be on the shiny side but in a healthy non-oil slick sort of way. Blot out any excess with a clean tissue and if you find it too oily use it only as a night treatment. OVERALL: I see myself using this years from now, especially in the winter months because of the great results and lack of negative reactions. The only bad side is the price of the tea tree oil. I paid about 15 dollars for a 50mL bottle but considering that I dilute it, and the fact that you only need 3-4 drops for the entire face, I think it's well worth it. Another tip is to use an old cleaned out serum pump so its sanitary and prevents contamination. I use an old ole henrickson vitamin C serum pump which I find perfect! I hope everyone finds tea tree as helpful as it was for moi!

I started using tea tree oil a few years ago after hearing that it worked well on upset piercings. It certainly did it's magic on them! I have what most would call "unusual" piercings, one on each ear, and they're right in the cartilage on the insides where they are quite easy to aggravate (sleeping on them wrong, knocking them somehow, etc). All it takes is a little TTO on a q-tip, dab it on them before I go to bed, and the next morning, they're back in great shape! My cons to the TTO are it just stinks to high heavens, in my own opinion. Which leads me to my other use for it.. those annoying acne bumps that come up every so often. As soon as I feel one coming, I dab a little oil on them (usually before bed because like I said, the smell.. ugh..) and the next day, the difference is unreal. I have tried so many different acne treatments and spot treatments, etc etc etc.. nothing compares. This is definitely a staple in my medicine cabinet, and the fact that it's only a few dollars for a jar that will last years, come on.. you can't beat it!!! I put that I would repurchase.. but I won't have to for ages. :)

This stuff is amazing for acne! I bought it originally to make a bump on my ear piercing go away, but after that, it just sat on my shelf. When I read the reviews on here for tea tree oil as a spot treatment, I decided to try it. I dipped a q-tip into the oil and ran some water over the q-tip. Then I applied it to a small breakout on my forehead. The next morning, one of my painful pimples felt much smaller, the others were dried, and the redness of my skin was reduced! I also had a really bad breakout of acne on my back a few days ago, so I used it on my back and it worked pretty well too. The smell is kind of hard to handle, but that's the only con for me.
Edit: So after using this for a while, I felt like it didn't work that well anymore. In fact, I broke out on my forehead while using the tea tree oil at night on problem areas every day and it didn't do much to reduce my zits. I really hope it's not what caused me to break out, but I can't be sure. I still think it works all right, but I'm more wary.

Pros:
Clears up skin
Easy to use
All natural
Little bottle lasts a long time
Doesn't sting (don't use more than twice a day)

Bottom line:
My HG spot treatment. I use it undiluted, it doesn't irritate my skin if i use it in moderation and I don't mind the smell. I don't think I'll switch to another zit zapper ever.

I think this oil is too strong and unpleasant on its own. (I dont like that cool minty smell) I used to use it as a spot treatment but then found that lavender essential oils works better for that, and also smells nicer. Tea tree oil works better diluted in my opinion. A simple and cheap trick is to add a few drops in a spray bottle filled with water. Works nicely as a face refresher or a toner. (Supposedly good for oily scalp too)! A drop or two can be added to daily moisturizer as well. But I still prefer lavender and ylang ylang for that purpose, so for those of you who feel that TTO didn't do much I suggest trying those two oils. (read reviews for more info)

This works well for my husband. Sometimes he breaks out along his hairline with lots of flaking and redness, and this soothes it. I just take a Q-tip and dip it in the glass bottle, then rub it across his hairline. I'd give it a 5 but it smells so strong and medicinal to me! It dissipates with time though.
