I have skin conditions that make my skin super sensitive and somewhat drier than most. I have gone to many dermatologists in my lifetime. I live in Miami so there are some great ones here and they all claimed that this would help keep my acne under control and it would gently cleanse my skin. i felt as if i was rubbing lotion on my face. my face was more oilier than usual and it seemed to leave a film. it made my acne worse and i just didnt like the way it made my skin feel in general. i personally know people that use this consistently and have beautiful skin. This just didnt work for me.

Edited March 05,2013: I admit that I am changing my mind. During my skin crisis of peeling and irritated due to the new Origins products, I decide to let it calm down. So I'm using only this cleanser now. I finally found a trick to make this work: I wash my face twice with this. Proper wash, as in wash the well rinse then wash again then well rinse again. Pimples are coming out as usual, esp when I don't use strong cleanser to clean my skin nor any topical stuffs to reign them in but I notice the oil reduces by half. I know this can't substitute other product to save my pores and keep the pimples at bay, but at least for now it helps my skin clean enough --> raising the rating :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
doesn't actually clean my very oily skin. I don't feel clean, and the powder I sued to absorb oil (jonshon face power) certainly not been removed.
only after few days used, I have to use it as a complimentary cleaning during my lunch break to refresh my skin midday. I leave the job of actual cleaning to my better washer.
I won't buy again for sure. Whatever I'm using it for now is just to prevent it going to trash bin. Hope it works better for you guys,

Good for my best friends, but not for me.
Honestly, I was hoping for better results because I changed from my regular cleanser, but instead, this caused me to break out EVEN MORE. The sad thing is, I'm only halfway done the bottle, and there's quite a lot of product. I only use a pump and a half, but sometimes if I use two pumps, it BURNS my face! It stings my face, but doesn't leave any marks. On the positive side, my face has been less oily! But the pimples don't go, and if they do, it requires more time for them to disappear.
I was so disappointed in Cetaphil because I actually had my hopes up. But it works for my friends, so I guess this product is not for my face, haha.

Cetaphil, is a staple in my bathroom cabinet. Time and time again, whenever I break out from trying a new face cream or new treatment, it's the only cleanser I can use to calm my skin down. It's gentle and it's the only thing my dermatologist recommends....everything else I pretty much sneak on my own as long as my skin agrees. :) It may not have vitamins, or antioxidants or anything of that sort in it, but when something goes a wry, this little baby makes it better. :)
Now i do hate that it does not foam up or give me a clean feeling at all (now i understand that cleAn feeling was prob my skin dried out lol). And.... . That awful texture is really kinda gross but it is definitely a gentle cleanser thats there for me when i need it and i can turn to it and it delivers. Here and again I hear about a HG product I want to try...and of course my skin being as sensitive as it is,I react badly and this is what I revert back to.
All in all, if you see a dermatologist for acne problems, treatments or any anti aging type concerns- they most likely will have you on cetaphil as a cleanser. It's gentle enough not to interfere with anything you put on afterwards and even though it doesnt give the "OMG, my face feels clean" feeling, it definitely works. I only see my derma for problems or if my skin misbehaves,, but otherwise If my skin stays on track, I'm on other cleansers that make face washing feel spa worthy....until of course I need to reach for this stuff again lol

It's just nice.
It really is a gentle skin cleanser. It cleans off excess oil, and leaves my face soft and unflaky. I use it for days my face got too much sun, or when I've gotten too tweezer happy with my brows. It's fragrance free, doesn't sting the eyes, colorless, and nice and simple. But I'm not it's #1 fan because it really doesn't work that well to remove makeup. I can use it to remove overnight creams, tinted moisturizing, and such...But it's pretty ineffective with everything else. However, I still rated it 4 lippies because I like to use a squirt of it to sort of "loosen up" my every day makeup and mascara at the start of the shower, then use my heavy duty cleanser, then follow up with another squirt of this to clean up the eye area and any loose traces.
You can buy it in a huge bottle, which is nice because I get so sick of constantly restocking and recycling all those little bottles all the time. But for first time users, I recommend starting out with a smaller bottle. Not everyone will find a use for it.

I've tried so many cleansers, skin care is without a doubt the most important aspect of my beauty routine and it can be difficult to hunt down the perfect cleanser for dry skin. Cetaphil is a wonderfully fragrance free as well as being free of many other harmful ingredients. There is nothing fancy about the packaging or the claims that it makes, but its the simplicity that i enjoy so much. It removes face and eye makeup very easily, although i prefer to remove that separately it can act has a makeup remover and cleanser for nights i'm lazy. It has a pleasant texture and doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or tight. I'll continue to repurchase this product so long as its available!

I heard alot of great reviews from my friends, but within the first week my face got so many breakouts, and they are not little. They hurt to have anything touch them. Cetaphil is not my type.

I started to used back this cleanser about 6 months ago when I was looking for a switch from Dermalogical Special Gel (its good but was looking for a change). Even though it doesn't foams but it cleanse my skin very well, leaves a thin layer of veil on the skin which makes it smooth even after washing. I love the fact that even if I wash my face 3 times a day, my skin never goes dry.
Only lately I am using another foam cleanser after I remove my makeup. I noticed that the week before my period, my skin will be slightly oily and I will have 1-2 bumps (not pimples). I will continue to use this as long as I can get it. If you have very oily skin, you may find that this is just a normal cleansing gel but you can consider to use this in the morning and another cleanser in the evening.
Our skin changes due to lots of factors so always love and pay attention to your skin needs. What used to work is not effective doesn't mean the product is lousy but our skin has reach a different stage and requires different attention.

I went on a makeup and skincare product fast after my skin became over-exfoliated, over treated and was irritated, overwashed and breaking out. All I used was Cetaphil and a gentle moisturizer. The gentle regimen worked wonders and my skin calmed down. This cleanser has been a staple ever since. The one disadvantage, is that this is not strong enough to remove makeup.

This Cleanser did not cleanse anything :))) My skin is combination and sensitive with oily t-zone, I could not even take off the make up with this cleanser, broke me out and caused blocked pores. Hated it! Made my husband buy it for me in UK while on business trip, he was running through the drug stores searching for it and finally brought it as a present. I was so excited to try it and see the result MUA readers are posting here, well major No-No for my skin, I will stick to Clarince and Clinique Cleanser for combination skin, lesson learned, I should stick to what is good for my skin with historical track records ;))) No more Cetaphil for me :)))

Fantastic cleanser for contact dermatitis sufferers. Finally my dermatitis is under control. No more clear small blister spots, redness, irritated skin. Excellent product as it also successfully removes make up too.

I have eczema-prone, dry skin but am plagued with acne. This cleanser doesn't work miracles, but it doesn't dry my face out (thus avoiding the issue of eczema), and it leaves my skin feeling clean without being tight. It also doesn't have a scent, which I like.
It doesn't remove makeup overly well, but I guess I should really get some makeup remover for that... If you are poor like me, apply the cleanser, wipe it off with a facecloth, and repeat once more. That way I get all my makeup off and get a clean face.
I like the pump bottle, and once you get the knack of it you can get out the right amount for your face.

I bought this product a week back. The first time i used it, i realized it wasn't 'hardcore' enough, but heres how i use it now.
First i remove my makeup
than i gently massage on a layer of this, wait for a bit
hop into the shower rinse it off and use my regular cleanser.
This works well on my oily combo skin, its a fantastic routine :)

I was excited to try this cleanser, but ended up being really let down. Is jiz-like (sorry, but seriously) texture is gross and it doesn't clean my skin and it sort of broke me out. I used it all up hoping it was a 'purging' stage but i just kept purging and it never came right, Will not repurchase.

***I am changing my review after reading the ingredients in this product. I should have done that at the store, but I was in a hurry. I didn't think to look till I had a terrible migraine for days. This is full of toxic chemicals. I threw it out and will not be buying it again. No matter how soft it makes my skin, it's not worth poisoning myself. ***
I bought this while I was out of town because I forgot my normal face wash (St. Ives green tea foaming cleanser). It didn't work at all as a cleanser. My face was still covered with makeup. However, I read online that you can use it as a moisturizer. My face has been a wreck the last couple of weeks with the cold wind on the east coast - dry and flakey. After running a small amount of this into my skin and leaving it every night for the last five days, my skin is soft and looks great! I'll definitely keep this around for when my skin is in crisis.

This is my go-to cleanser when my face decides to go crazy. It's very gentle and is good for acne prone skin, especially if you over-exfoliate of have gotten a face peel. It also doesn't have that "burning" feeling like some skin cleansers give, so it is a good cleanser for night before you moisturize.

This doesn't remove the littlest bit of makeup, nor does it rinse clean. It leaves a soft film on my face--NOT recommended for people with oily or acne skin types because this stuff will BREAK YOU OUT!
Cetaphil products ARE NOT NON-COMEDOGENIC! Yes, they claim to be.. but check out the ingredients. They have two of the top pore clogging ingredients at the top of the ingredients list in their face washes and lotions.

i have a big ol' pump bottle of this under the sink for a quick am cleanse. does not remove makeup (well my makeup at least) and in the summer when i wake up even w an oil slick all over my face will probably use a stronger gel cleanser. very gentle. do not even need to rinse it.

I started using this cleanser after my skin became irritated from some ill advised fading cream. This stuff is great. It's fragrance free and super gentle. Just what my skin needed. It's not the best for removing heavy makeup, but if you wear minimal makeup like me, this could be your new fave product.

I use this cleanser every morning. I wet my face and massage it in for about two minutes and then rinse. I have dry skin and this does not irritate or cause any problems for me. I have been using and repurchasing this product for nearly two years and will continue to.
I can think of nothing bad to say about this product. Super pleased! Also it is easy to find in many different stores so it is accessible and very well priced.
