This tube is my family's ultimate favorite staple for chapped lips. When I switch back to this, I always get that mentha- tingly feeling that lets me know that the product is actually working. Awesome stuff.

I have extremely dry lips. [I bite my lips all the time, bad habit I know =] ] This is one of the best lip balms I've tried. I use the medicated one, and I usually put it on in the morning and re-apply around noon or so. It gives my lips a nice color. PERFECT for a nude lip IMO. It leaves my lips smooth and soft. I have pouty-ish long lips, so if they look super mega-watt shiny I feel like I look like a clown. So this gives a very subtle shine. Great base for a lip gloss. Lipstick just settles into the cracks in my lips. It just so happens I've sort of broke it today,LOL It came off it's base, which is why I gave it's packaging quality a 3. I definitely would re-purchase this though, go ahead and try it!

I hardly ever get chapped lips, so I don't really own a medicated lip balm (until now).
Yesterday, on one fateful morning, I crawled out of bed and let out a yawn - but OW! My lips had become super-dry, with not one but THREE sore little cracks in my bottom lip! I hunted through my lip balm stash and carefully decided on which lip balm to take with me to work to slather on every few minutes or so to heal those sore dry lips. I grabbed a vaseline tube lip balm, and after a long day of work, my lips were still the same. I headed to the grocery store and grabbed some of this blistex medicated lip ointment and used it right away - LOVED the cool feeling on my lips. The texture was pretty creamy and sort of dissolved into my lips instead of sitting on my lips feeling slippery like Vaseline.
After continually applying it for the remainder of the day, the dryness improved along with the little cracks. By the time I went to bed, my lips were 80% healed already- WOW! I applied a thick layer before going to bed and the next morning, lo and behold, my lips were fully healed.
SO, needless to say, I think this stuff ROCKS. It healed my sore, dry, chapped, cracked lips in HALF A DAY, as opposed to Vaseline which hardly helped. This stuff puts vaseline to shame. I'll never use anything on else on my lips when they get chapped!

Oldie, but goodie, I have used it for years. I don't use it everyday (I heard that its bad to do so, your lips will depend on it). I have sensitive lips. If I drink from certain plastics I will develop a red fiery rash on and around my lips. This is the only thing that makes them feel better. It's light, creamy, soothing and its not waxy. CHEAP, FEELS GOOD and IT WORKS:)

If I could only have one lip product for the rest of my life, this would be it. I've seen this take the driest, flakiest lips and transform them into pure smoothness. I can't rave about this enough, its worth every penny and I promise it will make your lips look noticably better in a few hours, or even less.

my lips love blistex. i dont usually wear lipstick or lip gloss, just a little blistex all over my lips and they appear shiny and full without to much attention. they also give you a nice tingly feel. if my lips are especially chapped i put a little on before i go to bed and wake up with soft and refreshed lips. i love it!

Initially I absolutely loved this; now, it's basically better than Chapstick but still not helpful in keeping lips moist over time (in other words, for more than 2-4 hours). When I was on Accutane it helped soothe lips that were so dry and chapped they'd crack and bleed, but that's out it.They still pucker a little after an hour, and re-application doesn't help too much. The ointment is better than a waxy non-moisturizing balm/stick, but still... Maybe I was re-applying to much.
The point is, there are better products out there.
Compared to Chapstick and other lip balms that cause lips to flake and dry up 20 minutes after application, this was great, so I might re-purchase in a pinch.
It's okay, but I'd consider getting something without mineral oil or petrolatum (probably a "natural" or "organic" lip balm...Chapstick makes a "natural lip butter" stick.)

This is the best lip treatment if your lips get chapped or dry. I find that many balms feel great when you first put them on but then as they wear off your lips just feel dryer. This is totally the opposite - it is more of a cream, is a little tingly (in a nice way) when you put it on and applied a couple of times a day it keeps lips really soft. Also great under lipstick.

My lips tend to be really chapped from acne meds treatment. It's some kind of severe driness that I've never experienced before, and I've tried dozens of lip balms trying to fix the problem, such as Kiehl's #1,Eucerin Aquatophor,Neutrogena, etc. None of them did a really good job comparing with Blistex MLO,it does have medicine smell which is good to prevent you from eating off the balm so to keep your lips moisturized:p
Will definitely repurchase it.

This product is like a miracle in a tube, and it's cheap. I ALWAYS put this on my lips before I go to bed, and it keeps my lips soft and moisturized. It does have a medicine smell about it and it is white, but it really works. This is worth trying if you have problem/cracked/dry lips. I finally found something that works consistently and will always use this!

I originally started using this for my cold sores. Does nothing for it. I think it's supposed to be using menthol to numb it. Yeah, no numbing going on. Does keep my lips unchapped for a few days, with a tingle at the dry spots, and then stops working. Works very well to make your lips soft before you apply lipstick, when it works. And for chapped noses. The whiteness actually doesn't happen since you are supposed to rub it in till it disappears. If it didn't stop working after a couple days of straight usage, this would be my HG. Unfortunately, it does, so I only keep it around when it's really bad.

The lip-product market is so fickle-- but Blistex original lip ointment has been around for decades for a reason! It's a water-oil emulsion, unlike most lip products that are straight oil and wax. For this reason, it makes a fantastic lipstick primer: the moisture soaks in to plump lips, while the oils seal in the effect. When my lips are "shredded" from winter's dry air, I skip all my fruity/fancy lip balms and go straight for Blistex. It's the quickest fix for super-dry lips. I took off a lippie because it does tend to apply white-- not a good look. (This goes away in about 10 minutes.)

At first this lip treatment worked wonders, it made my lips look extra smooth and very moisturized, but i guess it backfired on me and after the first week my looks went my to dry, chapped. would not repurchase.

Good for night. Tastes bad and looks white if you use it during the day. Prevents chapped lips very well! I will buy again!

This lip treatment is amazing! My 6 year old son got really chapped lips when he was sick and this fixed it in just 2 days! I was so amazed at how quickly and well it worked that I went and bought a tube for myself!!!

I really like this for healing my lips overnight! I put it on every night before I go to bed. It's very soothing, and I wake up with my lips feeling soft, but not like there is some residue still on them (my biggest problem with Vaseline). I also like the angled applicator on the tube - not like those weird round tips on some lip glosses! Perfectly non-messy application! I only wish you got more in each tube; I run out pretty fast.

First off, I want to mention that I've always had extremely dry and flakey lips. I've tried some lip treatments in the past but never really noticed any difference so I just kept using a random tinted chapstick I got from VS with no real improvements. For reference, I have such dry lips that almost everyday my lips would start peeling in different places and would have to painfully peel them off in order to look semi-okay to go outside my house. This often leading to a bloody and scabby lip (sorry, TMI) was no fun but was a regular thing I had to deal with. This product is very tingly and minty so if you're not used to such products, it may take a while to get used to. I almost felt like it was burning my lips on the first application but as I started using more and more, I got used to it. I love the way its packaging is designed though like the previous reviewer mentioned. You don't a goopy mess since you really control how much you want to apply. It tends to look white if you don't rub it in so make sure you take a look in the mirror to see how it looks. The lasting power is so-so, not very impressed at about 2 hours indoors. But, it's by far the best lip treatment I've used and my lips aren't flaking too much anymore!! Only some days when I forget to put some of this on. I don't have to peel my lips like I normally did if I continue to use it throughout the day! At $1.99, you really can't beat the price but I might shell out a few more bucks and try the Clinique balm and see if there's a difference as far as the staying power. Overall, very good product.

I usually can't wear any gloss or lipstick during winter because of the state of my chapped, sore and generally cranky lips. This ointment is really effective at both improving condition and relieving pain (camphor is an ingredient), and is also really good value. Whoever came up with the tricky dispenser packaging deserves a knighthood! Finally a lip balm that I don't have to dig my fingers (and therefore nails) into, and that isn't a yucky germ-collecting twisty stick thing. One caution: make sure that you don't look like a cricketer after application - it's an ointment and has to be smoothed in a bit before leaving the house.
