I absolutely love this e/s...everytime i wear, at least one person compliments me...but, you definitely need to pair it up w/another e/s color, possibly a green/blue color like everyone else has mentioned. i don't really like just wearing it alone but if you don't have it, you should definitely buy it..it worth it!

Oh gosh, such a complex color in the pan but I really don't like this eyeshadow. I'm the lone dissenter when it comes to Veluxe Pearl formulas - I think they're pigmented chalk, hard to blend, and the color just lays there. Gorgeous Gold is like that - the yellow gold with green flash is very pretty but it's a PITA to blend. Texture is not soft, and the color just lays there flat. For the record, I'm not an e/s newbie either and I have tried this e/s with plenty of tools - MAC 224, 239, 213, 217, 222 brushes and Stila #5, 7, 9 brushes. I still give this 2 lipsticks for the pretty color in the pan but I'll never go back to MAC VPs.

im LOVING this right now layered over mac ccb in bronze. this color is really gorgeous and unique. its more yellow than gold imo and has this greenish sheen to it. it looks almost totally light neon green (not AS garish as it sounds, pretty natural)when you apply it wet.i wasnt expecting it to look green as i was looking for a gold e/s, but i ended up liking this one WAY more. its great as a base for green/blue eyeshadows too.

I was a little surprised when I got this eyeshadow and it wasn't the rich golden color I was expecting. To me it is a bit more yellow than gold, but i still really like this eyeshadow a lot. I pair it with "Expensive Pink" and they look awesome together! On it's own though, it is still pretty and it brings out my blue eyes. I will definatly repurchase when I run out!

Dear Mac, please start giving your lovely products more sensible names if you don't mind, because anyone buying "Gorgeous Gold" expecting a gold eyeshadow (as in, the colour of the precious metal) risks disappointment..... which is a very great pity, because what you're actually getting for your money *here* is the most delightful, fresh, pretty, shimmery primrose yellow that a girl could ever want. I consider this to be one of the best eyeshadows MAC makes, and (as others have already commented) the real strength of GG as well as its beautifully light, shimmery texture is it's flexibility and how great it looks when paired with other shadows..... so, if the idea of a yellow eyeshadow scares you, consider some of the following:-

* zing up your greens with a wash of gorgeous gold for a fresh, springy look (try with Bitter or Swimming, its simply stunning)

* pairing gorgeous gold with a nice irridescent purple like Parfait Amour will brighten up the contrast and add warmth to the eye (and this colour combo makes me think of pretty spring flowers - pansies and primroses and violets, awwww!)

* for a really bold, brightly colourful look, use GG as a contrast colour with a strong blue such as Freshwater or (even better) Electric Eel

* wear on its own with a slick of black liquid eyeliner for a simple citrus look

..... and I'll bet this looks beautiful with apricot-toned colours and browns too as other reviewers have suggested (thanks for the tips guys - I'm trying this with Expensive Pink when I get home!).

Highly recommended.

All I am gonna say is I love this color...other reveiwers have covered everything else, I just want to say I love it. I usually pair this with honey lust on the lid, swimming on the inner crease, gorgeous gold on the outercrease as well as smudging along my lower lashline and idol eyes for my highlighter under my brow. People always compliment on how amazing my eyes look (nw15, blonde hair, green eyes)

This is a veluxe pearl, so already it gets my vote. However, as other posters have said, this comes up looking more green than gold, but a really pretty green on my NC45 skin. This color is PHENOMENAL with Expensive Pink, but the key for these unusual/non-neutral shades is placement. I would recommend putting this in the upper inner corner lid, and using it as a highlighter under the arch of your eye -- but sparingly. Putting it in the inner upper corner of my eyes makes my brown eyes pop.

Meh. This is not exactly what I had in mind when I went to the MAC counter looking for a really bright, shiny gold. It goes on with a definite green tinge on my lids and I've noticed that, unlike other veluxe pearls, this shadow did not glide on my lids with ease and buttery softness. It was more gritty (like a lustre) and took several layers to make it show up, and when it finally did it had that awful green shadow that I remarked on earlier. I paired this up with Woodwinked, but for me, it was not to be. I will not be repurchasing.

I use this on my lower lid smudged over MAC Minted e/l. It looks awesome and goes very well with my olive green eyes. Still experimenting on other looks.

I think this eyeshadow is used best with other colours...by itself..it doesn't stand out much. i am giving it 4 lippies because it looks great when i match it with Freshwater. I use gorgeous gold all over my lid...and at the 1/3 outer end of my eyelid...i use freshwater over gorgeous gold and line my lower lash with freshwater. This is effect is great. Gold plus blue....nice. but i wouldn't use gorgeous gold alone

i just gave this wonderful shade another lip...cause i realised that it goes with my aquadisiac e/s very well....quite a lot of people complimented on my Mu..am loving this colour more

Almost perfect. Looks great when you apply it wet. But it is so sheer when applied dry. Great color. Me: NC30 :)

Like all Veluxe Pearls, the texture and blendability is the best. The color is really pretty too, I just wish it had more gold and less yellow. However, if you wear it over Corn shadestick, it does bring out some more of the gold. This color really compliments my brown eyes.

The texture is fabulous and the staying power equally good. Good blendability. The color, though, isn't so much a gold as it is a metallic yellow. I love it, but it wasn't quite as gold as I'd hoped.

I'm kind of torn on this color. I love it in the pot. It's gorgeous (haha) and unique and I really like the veluxe pearls in general. The color is just not right on me though. I can't even put my finger on what it is, but it makes me look weird. I try it every couple of months, just in case, like maybe there is some secret application technique I haven't learned yet that will make it look good on me.

Its a really nice colour, but contrary to what the name suggests, the e/s actually has some green in it. Depending on your skintone the green might show up a lot or a little. Great colour nevertheless. I just have to find an actual gold colour.

This yellow has weird green undertones that didn't do it for me, I prefer Goldmine, so I swapped it away.
