I've tried just about every lipbalm out there and they're either too runny, or too hard, or not moisturizing enough, or not long-lasting enough, or too scented, or too smelly, etc, etc, etc. I'm very fussy ;)

I basically want a lipbalm that is smooth and moisturizing, with a nice sheen/gloss, but without feeling tacky or slippery on the lips.

LUSH's Lip Service is just that. It's a hard balm in the pot, so I use the back of my nail to scrape a teeny bit out (I normally hate pot lip products, but I'll make an exception for this!). When I rub it on my lips, it simply *melts* in like butter.
The texture is smooth and really moisturizing, yet with a soft sheen. Not sticky at all, and not slippery and goopy either. It basically feels like I'm not wearing anything, like I just have naturally super soft lips :)

I like how it has a really really mild scent, barely noticable. This is my holy grail lipbalm - just wish it came in a tube! But I suppose the unique texture means it has to come in a pot.

If you're having trouble getting it to work, I've found that this works best in temperate climates. That means in really really cold weather, you might find it a bit hard to melt the balm onto your lips, as it needs heat to melt down. But a warm finger and/or lips does the trick :) This works AMAZINGLY under lipgloss or lipstick too!

Ewwwww.... Everyone seems to like it, but I just don't get it. Mine has a funky smell, seems to have been poured badly and is hard as a rock. I know it's supposed to be natural...but geez... This just isn't worth it.

This is one of the few lip balms I've used that doesnt make my lips peel! It smells like an orange creamsicle and I love how it just melts onto your lips when you rub it in. I take the back of my fingernail and kind of scratch a little bit up then rub it in. This, to me, is the best way to get it out of the pot.

This is the best lip balm i've ever used and i am a lip balm addict! the consistency is strange b/c it is harder than most balms and a little harder to get out, but it's worth it! it melts right into your lips and doesn't have that gross waxy feel of most balms. it totally gets rid of chapped lips and keeps them moisturized.

This is the best lip treatment I've ever used, and I love the way that it contains no chemicals or petroleum jelly (who wants to be swallowing chemicals all day long?). It takes a little while to learn how to use it properly, like most Lush products, and you have to wait a moment for it to melt, which I don't mind. Unfortunately I can't use this during the day as I don't like using balm from pots. If they put this in a tube I'd never even look at another balm again!

I didn't know whether to put 'yes' or 'no' on the 'would you you buy this product again?' drop-down menu, but decided on 'yes'...although I'm still not sure.
I agree with everyone else that it is a pain in the ass to get out; it's a solid that definitely requires finger nails to get out, which can be mesy and unsanitary. In the UK winter there is no chance of this getting soft. Even on a cold day, when I try and warm it between my fingers, it will not go soft. If I'm indoors then it softens quite quickly, so apply it indoors, not outside in the freezing cold.
OK, formulation. I've used lipbalm for many many years, and have tried them all. I like an intense balm, with no flavours or scents, that comes in a stick and is matte. This is quite a light lipblam, in that it's not heavy and thick like my Chapstick, once you smooth it into your lips it feel very lightweight and comfortable. It leaves a layer on your lips that feels really moisturising. I don't really like the scent, but saying that I don't like any scents in lipbalms and glosses. I also didn't notice a taste. I like this, but it's not intense enough.I'd prefer it to be more thicker and slightly more moisturising. I don't like the slight gloss it leaves my lips either as I prefer my lipgloss to do that.

Amazing -- my HG of lip-balms, forumla wise. Smells amaaazing (like tangerines and vanilla)and has a wonderful consistency (mine is never too solid to apply, but I guess its always warm here in California). Feels fantastic when applied. Very soothing, cooling and even feels *healing*. Immediately sinks in and fixes any chapped lips syndromes, and another application isn't neccesary for hours. My only beef is the pot; I'd really prefer this in a stick form because I feel pots are just so messy and unhygenic. Otherwise -- perfection.

i've always had dry lips, so my search is never-ending for the perfect lip balm...until now! you only need to use this 3-4 times a day, as opposed to constantly re-applying products like blistex. it's hard, but once you rub it into your lips it leaves a nice moisturizing coating that works miracles. highly recommend.

This is my personal favorite lip balm! Yes, it can get hard, but if you warm it up in your hands, it will quickly return to a softer state. Be sure to rub the product into your lips to remove the "white cast" another member mentioned they had...it is by far my favorite lip balm and LIP SERVICE is the first thing I make sure I have in my bag before leaving the house!

I'm not sure if I like this stuff or not. Maybe I'm just not using it as regularly as I should (I have 2 other lip products I use). After applying it, it seems as though my lips get worse. I have to constantly apply.

This stuff gets rock hard unless you carry it around in your pocket all day. You literally have to scrape it out with your nails. Ugh.
It does a decent job of moistursing but it leave a horrible white cast on your lips.

I relaly like this lip balm, I would deifintly say it's the best lip balm Ive bought. I know I like something when i buy it again after it runs out. Makes my lips very soft and I also like it the pale color keeps my lips light looking, I hate how most balms are tinted and make my lips look too red,
definitly recommend this and will buy it again and again!

This is a wonderful lip balm even if you have to dig it out and melt it between your lips to smear it around. The only bad thing is that I don't like too many things in the Lush line, and I can't justify the shipping.

Smells weird. As mentioned by the first reviewer, the lip balm is stone hard especially during winter when it's cold so you really have to 'dig' into it. Not convenient at all. however, it is a good emollient and does help soften my lips. I usually apply it overnight and my lips heal miraculously the other day. I hope they will have a stick formula

An excellent product! Very rich and emollient..and it smells wonderful too, like roses and oranges. LUSH gives you quite a bit (.40oz) for only $7 US! Will buy again for myself and also for gifts.

When I first got this I thought it was defective since it looked and felt like hard wax. But after I tried it a few times I found that I have to heat it between my fingers first to melt the shea butter, then it glides on perfectly. It feels very rich and healing and seems to sink into my lips rather than just coat it like waxy chaptick does. I love the orange smell too.

Next to Molton Brown Lip Plumper, this is the best lip balm I've ever used. It moisturizes extremely well and has a nice, orange-vanilla scent. I love the texture too--very similiar to The Body Shop's lip butter except this product actually works. And you get a huge amount for the price. The packaging is a bit bulky but other than that, I love it!

I love this product, it lasts for ages, it smells beautiful and moisturises so well!!! (this actually moisturises deep down, not just coating your lips like vaseline)
LUSH have also changed their formula to make it a lot softer, it melts in really well now.
