I'm sold. Never buying a different night-time moisturizer (unless I upgrade to the "intensive" version later on). I waited until I finished the whole tube (took about three months of nightly use) to review. Ok, first my skin: I'm 21 and have the beginnings of some fine lines, especially smile lines and slight frown lines on my forehead. Also freckles and some unevenness. I got visible results from this product. It has erased the slight lines on my forehead and the smile lines are almost entirely gone. My freckles are practically gone too, which I am ambivalent about since I kind of liked them. I had no problem with skin irritation and actually use this fairly close to my eyes without trouble. There are some insignificant issues such as a slight medicinal/chemical smell and that the feel of the product is not particularly luxurious, but really, who cares? This stuff WORKS. And really, for the results the price cannot be beat. Not sure how well it will work on actual wrinkles, but it is great for what I need in a moisturizer.

I have very sensitive acne prone skin with mild rosacea. I've tried rx retinoids and Avene retinaldahyde products. Both left me with a huge rosacea flare. So far this Neutrogena retinol cream has been the most gentle on my skin. I can use this 2-3x per week with no irritation. If you have sensitive skin I highly recommend using this product. I plan on using this to step up to a more potent formula if my skin allows me to. If not I'm perfectly fine with using this. I cannot comment on the wrinkle reducing properties because I haven't used it long enough yet. However, it is gentle and tolerable which allows me to use it on a consecutive basis.

I'm reading the reviews of this product and I am thinking, "Am I using the same creme?" My skin: pale, sensitive, fine lines - look, I'm 53 - rosacea on cheeks, chin, and forehead. Retinol + rosacea = lots of redness and bumps. What can I say? The wrinkles were winning! I should know better. So back to the soothing cremes. If your skin can tolerate it, this is probably a good product.

Good moisturizer, but didn't do a thing for my skin. I'm going to try the intensive version next...

Been using this on my entire face for 6 days and have noticed some positive results already!! Will update after a few weeks. I haven't experienced any redness yet, but I do feel a teeeeeny tiny bit of irritation around my eyes. But that is the most delicate area of your face, so perhaps I should lay off a bit and only do my eyes once every other day. Other than that, it seems to have evened out my skin tone a bit, and....OK, I may be imagining things.... but even though I'm only 24, I feel like it might have had some effect on fine lines I was developing around the corner of my eyes!! I have very sallow eyes and some dark depressions on the inside part of my nose near my eyelid, and even though this doesn't do anything to improve these dark circles, it does seem to have made the general eye area a bit brighter, and draws attention away from them a bit. My skin is baby-soft and feels perfectly moisturized and balanced. I've been using a 30 spf sunscreen during the day, and applying this in the evening (not necessarily before bed), because I hear it can cause extra photosensitivity and should always be worn with sunscreen. Great stuff!

I've been using the product for about three weeks and so far, so good. The consistency is perfect, and I don't notice a scent at all. I didn't experience any redness or peeling as some other reviewers did. My face feels super-soft in the morning. I haven't noticed a reduction in fine lines yet, but I'm will to give it more time. This product is totally affordable, too.

Love this stuff! I recently switched over to this Night lotion from the Original Formula, with SPF 15 because I wanted to wear a higher SPF during the day (important to remember if you are going to use a retinol product!). The Night cream is thicker and smoother feeling than the day lotion - and also more potent. When I used Original formula, I used it everyday, no sensitivity. But I had to build up a tolerance with this Night cream, as I experienced some redness/peeling in the beginning of use. Its all better now - I'm in my twenties and USED to have breakouts. This cream clears my skin and I am unblemished while knowing the future of my skin is protected. Neutrogena has a good reputation with moisturizers, I personally dislike their cleansers and self-tanners but this is a great buy, as are their sunscreens. The price is comparable to a tube of Dramatically Different, but of course, with retinol!

I'll be brief. This stuff works and in my opinion its cheap compared to a lot of other brands. I started using this to get my skin acclimated to retinol because I wanted to eventually try a the prescription strength for sensitive skin (.01-Differin). I think I might stick with this for a little while longer. You will see a difference in your skin tone the very next day.

About me:
I am a 20-something year old Asian with light-medium skin, I burn easily and I have freckles. I am acne-prone, sensitive, and combination most of the time. I've been a loyal BP user for about 5 years, but I hate having it bleach everything, and I want to prevent zits while also looking proactively into youth-maintenance.
The Product:
Neutrogena HS A-W cream promises to reduce pore size and boost clarity and reduce wrinkles in as little as 2-8 weeks. It claims to contain multi-vitamins and green tea extracts with retinol to deliver these results.
My Opinion:
I like that this cream is packaged in a metal tube, which helps to preserve Retinol efficacy. I am using this in conjunction with Skinceuticals Retinol 0.5, alternate nights. However, I feel that this product is good enough for my age. I does help to even out uneven skintone with regular use (I was using it on and off in October of 2007, but I've been using it consistently for the last 2 weeks), and even moisturizes the skin without being overbearing. My skin isn't oily or anything in the morning.
I believe this product contains like 0.025% retinol or something (don't hold me to that-- I read that online somewhere), so it's definitely not comparable to prescription retinoid products. However, if you are young and looking to start preventing the aging process, I believe this is a good product to start with. Be warned, however, that you MUST (if you aren't already!) wear Sunscreen during the day if you use this product at night.
As far as acne-control, it isn't super amazing, but it does keep things to a minimum, within acceptable range. I find that if I have a zit, the best thing to do is to add a bit extra of this product on (like the size of a matchstick head), rub it in, the cover the spot with vaseline to "seal" it in. Somehow, it works! On normal nights, I apply a large pearl/pea-sized blob of this all over my face (I do the corners of the eyes, but avoid the eye area itself) and that's enough to keep things under control.
I think this was like $16 or something at Wal-Mart for 40g, so it's not terribly expensive (if you're used to spending $6/177 mL of moisturizer though, you'll have to get used to it!). This lasts a surprisingly long time, so I think it's worth it, and I would buy again. I'm looking to try the Intensive version, which I think contains more retinol.

This is a fantastic cream. I use it along with the Healthy Skin anti-wrinkle day cream and I have to say I have noticed a huge improvement in my skin. It is alot more even-toned and radiant than ever and my acne scarring is definitely less noticeable. It is a real pleasure to use this cream as well...there is no heavy fragrance and it absorbs very easily. It also moisturizes well without clogging my pores which is great. A definite HG night cream for me.

I have to say that I've never used a retinol product before so that may have a lot to do with why I returned this product to CVS yesterday. Therefore, I will give this product 3 lippies since it's possible that this product would have worked well for me if I only had the patience to get through the retinol adjusting period for new users.
I started using this product two weeks ago. I used it every night for the first three nights and then I noticed my skin was drying in some areas and I was developing tiny red bumps on my forehead. Since the instructions told me to limit the use to every other night if I developed irritation, I did just that. I stuck to the "every other night" schedule for a week and a half longer and then decided to give up. I know one of the reviewers below was very happy after they made it through an entire month of negative effects only to unveil the best skin ever, but I wasn't willing to let my skin deteriorate before it got better. I stopped using it and have been using the Malin + Goetz Replenishing Face Serum nightly in its place. While it is not specifically an anti-wrinkle product, it did more to plump up my fine lines and moisturize my skin than the Neutrogena cream did in 2 weeks. Plus, it helped reverse the irritating effects of the retinol.
In any case, last night I tried the Reviva 5% Glycolic Cream in conjunction with the Malin + Goetz Replenishing Face Serum and I woke up with less noticeable lines and positively GLOWING skin. After just one use! I think glycolic acid works better for me than retinol ever will.

Ok so I am only giving this product a 4 at the moment because I can't speak to its long-term effects -- only its short-term ones. However, I've been using it for about a week and a half and so far, it seems the absolute perfect substitute for my (very expensive) favorite skinceuticals product! I love the skinceuticals .5% retinol night cream, but my face has now adjusted to it and I can use it every day, so I have been in the market for an over-the-counter, moisturizing and somewhat cheaper retinol with which to alternate it. This fits the bill exactly. For one, the two seem very similar in appearance, texture, and smell, and so far, the results seem quite similar as well. However, this one is $15 for approx. 3 or 4 times as much product (versus skinceut's $40 mini-bottle). While I am not ready to stop using my HG product, this seems to do a great job of lessening its impact on my pocketbook, as I tend to do two nights of this Neutrogena then one night of the SkinC. No breakouts or irritations to speak of; it has even been moisturizing and gentle enough to use under my eyes! Very impressive product for quite a steal. Highly recommend!

After noticing that my smile lines were becoming more pronounced, I decided to give this product a try. The product comes in a little tube, and I like how smoothly it goes on. It also sinks in fairly quickly, and a little seems to go a long way. At first I wasn't happy since I seemed to be getting more pimples than usual(I used to have cystic acne). I was very tempted to give up and toss it out, but I decided to give it a little more time. After a few weeks though, I realized that the skin was purging itself. Now despite the occasional pimple, my skin texture has gotten much smoother. I've also noticed that my pores appear to have gotten a little less noticeable. Although I wasn't initially too thrilled, I'm now very happy, and I plan on getting the daytime version of this cream.

My skin loves this stuff. I've been using this for over 2 months and I'm so pleased with the results. I don't think it's a miracle worker on wrinkles but it has helped diminish my fine lines I think. This cream just sinks into my skin without feeling greasy and that's an A+ in my book because I tend to think most night creams are too heavy and greasy. After cleansing at night this gets rid of the tight feeling so I know it's moisturizing it just leaves my face feeling like my own skin instead of a mask. Perfect. My skin feels smoother and my complexion is a lot more even. I also use the day cream with spf 15 that I am also in love with..I'm so happy everytime I catch a glimpse in the mirror I just can't believe what a difference..my skin looks so healthy! Great Product!

I decided to add this since the reviews on here were for the intensive night cream and I am just using the regular version of the Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream. This cream really has given my skin a glow and does not seem to break me out at all. I have noticed a much better texture and my cell turnover seems to be faster because my skin seems to be shedding quickly (not peeling - just shedding), and I can tell because the fine hairs on my chin (I know, gross) are much more visible and not getting ingrown at all since I started using it. A weird but accurate way to measure this...;)
I am using the Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish version of this product during the day and occasionally in place of this at night if I am breaking out since it seems to work instantly overnight without ANY drying at all. So far, I LOVE the combination of these products. Will keep you posted!
