Ive had this for about 2 months and it works just as great as the real expensive ones. In fact my friend had bought a $90 hair straightner and said this one works a lot better!
cons: it can turn off easily (it has the automatic timer thing) and you cant flip the ends of your hair out
but this is the best straightner for the money your paying
for reference i have thick long hair.

This is the only hair straightener I could afford at the time (2 years ago). I bought it because it was on sale, and am infinitely happy for it. Not only does it work well on wet hair, but the variety of settings can help you get a comprimise, from super-sleek, so slightly wavy. Personally I have curly, normal-thick hair so I was delighted that I didn't need to spend a fortune for straight hair.
For this price, if mine ever broke, I'd probably buy the same thing! Oh, and it lasts... I've had mine so long, and never had a problem.

I absolutely love this flat iron. Granted it's only the 2nd one I've ever tried, but after the results I've had with this one compared to that first one, I know I've found a great flat iron. I have thick, wavy, frizzy hair (that only gets worse if I blow dry it); there isn't much I can do with it, other than throw it in a ponytail and be done with it. This flat iron is the miracle I've been searching for.
First, the negative: turns out I can't use it when my hair is damp. I get the same frizzy results as I do with a hair dryer but it would take forever to fully dry it since my hair is so thick (honestly, I didn't even try getting it fully dry - with the results I was getting, I just knew it was pointless). Also, if you have to use a higher setting on dry hair, it leaves your hair really hot. I almost burned my fingers once or twice but if you brush through the section you've just ironed it cools down right away.
The positive: it works absolute wonders on my hair when it's dry. It takes me about 20 minutes to get the results I'm after, starting on a higher setting (around 15 or 16) then going around again on a lower one (around 9 or 10). My hair is so much softer and shinier when I use this flat iron and I can actually style it now, instead of just putting it in a ponytail. I love the fact it allows my hair to keep it's volume and doesn't leave it pin straight and flat on my head. If you have thick, wavy hair and this is the look you want, this might not be the flat iron for you. The digital heat control is great, as well. It's color coded to help you find the best setting for your hair depending on thickness and if it's wet, damp or dry.
At about $20 for the 1 inch or $25 for the 2 inch, this is the most inexpensive ceramic plate flat iron I've come across and well worth every penny.

Bought this on a recommendation from a Sephora SA, when she saw me eyeing up the $300 similar product they carry on their shelves. I wouldn't use this straightener on wet hair, but I dry my hair until it's barely damp and then use it and it works great. No complaints, and the price is right -- about $40-50. Heats up in about 60 seconds, has a bunch of settings. The only thing I didn't like at first was the placement of the setting buttons .. I kept hitting them accidentally with my fingers. Then I figured out I needed to have my hands up further to clamp the straightener and that worked that problem out just fine.

DO NOT BUY THIS STRAIGHTENER!!! I used it I have curly/wavy hair, mostly curly, and I bought it, thinking yeah its gonna work! i used it, my hair ended up a poofy disaster, even when it was dry! Save your money for something you can use, I bought another straightener, from hot shot tools, called helen of troy, and it works well, but its slow, buy like an iso, or gold 'n hot, maybe a sedu or paul mitchel, but do not waste your money, on this peice of crap!

I have had this straightener for 3 years, and it still works like a charm. I love it. It does not straighten wet hair very well like it claims, but if you turn it up to the highest heat setting, it straightens dry hair like it's nothing. I'm picky about my hair being perfectly straight, and this straightener does the job. It's a steal at $20, as well.

I recently had my hair cut in a style that requires me to flat iron it. My mom got me this iron, and it does a great job on my thick, wavy hair. I haven't used it on wet hair, but I set it on the highest setting for dry hair (10), and it did a great job. I've never flat ironed my hair myself before, but I was really impressed by how easy it was, and by the results. My family thought my hair looked great!

I can't believe all of the negative reviews about this straightener...I LOVE it!!! Then again, I never use it on wet or damp hair because I don't need to damage my hair any further than heat styling already does. I put the heat setting on 25 and use it on my frizzy wavy hair and it smooths it so well while giving it body instead of that "stuck straight to my head" look. Two of my sisters also use this straightener. I've had mine for over a year and it's still going strong!

Really bad iron, at least for me. I never use it on wet hair, maybe that is my problem? But I have wavy hair, a lot of it, but fine in texture. This iron takes forever to do much of anything. I use the highest setting for dry hair, and I go over and over my hair with barely any results. It have to run it over the same spot at least 5 times to straighten it much. And the end result is my hair looks straight, but with some waves still here and there, and kinda frizzy rather than smooth and sleek. The buttons also are in a bad place, I often accidentally hit one and turned down the heat while straightening. I'm now buying a new, more expensive FHI iron that I my stepmom uses. I've used it before and it works infinitely better than this one.

My MIL has this and let me tell you, everytime i borrow it from her i cringe at the fact that my hair is literally BURNING. It smells like it's on fire and the whole fact that straightening your hair when it's still wet makes me cringe!

I like this product, but I wouldn't say its the best. It does a decent job of getting my hair straightened. It is nice to be able to skip blow drying or air drying, however I do notice it gives me a million fly aways. I try to tame them but they wont go down. So it is worth the time saved, but I dont like the fly aways. I havent noticed any damage to my hair from this, and even though it says it wont, I still cant help but worry. I try to keep my use to a minimum, but over all its an okay product

This did not work for me at all, I think my hair is too thick. I tried using it on wet hair, damp hair, and mostly dry hair and it never worked. My hair often got caught in it which is definitely NOT fun. I took mine back to Target.

This is not an amazing miracle straightening iron, but it gets the job done really well actually!! It straightens my wavy hair but yet doesn't straighten and flaten it to the point of heavy lifeless, flat against my head hair! I used it on towel dried hair and i'll admit it took about 15 minutes all in all to get my hair PRETTY dry but not completely. I love this for a simpiler beauty routine, for when say your not at your house or on vacation.

I think i have the 2 inch old version of this. I've had it for about 4 years and it still works. I feel this is an average straightener. It does the job, but if you have wavy and frizzy hair and you want to get it pin straight, it will take you forever.... actually for me, i never achieved pin straight hair with this thing no matter how many times I used it. The one I have is heavy too so it gets tiring after a while. Oh, and don't use this with wet hair because it will take you an hour to two hours (maybe more) to get your hair straighten and dried. You're better off with a blow dryer and then straighten afterwards. Plus, I think using this on wet hair will pretty much cook your hair, which means more frizz... and we don't want that now do we? Overall, this was my expected first experience with an old style drug store straightener. I will be purchasing a ceramic one next.

I love this thing! I had originally purchased one for my mom, and then I started borrowing it and didn’t want to give it back!! So, after she fought me for it, I brought my own…lol….It leaves my long hair dead straight….My hair is already naturally straight, but its damaged, but after I use Loreal’s heat protecting cream and my Alter Ego on my hair, and do the Iron, my hair looks nice and healthy and lasts me about a week….as a matter of fact, today is raining in NYC, and my hair is not frizzy at all! I highly recommend this product! It heats fast, has temperature control, it’s a great product!

When I first bought this, I was in love with it...but then, 2 months later, it started to go bad on me which sucked because it has a 30 day money back guarantee. It never fully dries my hair, it's still a little frizzy and poofy. I have very thick, very frizzy, very poofy, pin straight asian hair and I bought to make my hair more sleek and shiny. It only works well on my hair when it's fully dry and I have chest length hair. The reason I bought this one instead of others was because I read in a magazine that this should have been good for my type of hair and to be honest, it was the one of the worst purchases I ever made. I would suggest this to people with thinner hair than mine, but I would probably just say save up and get a better quality straightener. There are better ones out there.

I purchased this to use on my fine, shoulder length, wavy, slightly dry, layered hair. Even though the package said it could be used on wet or dry hair, I only use it on dry hair since it just doesn't seem like a good idea to use an iron on wet hair, especially since mine is fragile & fine. I wash my hair, blow dry it, then seperate it into sections, straightening it from the underneath layers up. It glides through my hair without pulling or tugging, making it smooth, shiny and straight. It heats up in a minute & it only takes a few minutes to do my hair. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, I also hold it at the little window as to not accidentally hit one of the heat buttons or the power. It also has a lock on it, however no hook or storage. It was only $24.99 at Target. I'll probably save this for once in a while or for humid days, though, since though it does make my hair sleek & straight, it kinda seals the volume right out of it and makes it almost *too* sleek (which I think is due to my fine hair, not the iron..I've noticed it helps to ease off on the styling products and to only use a tiny bit). Overall, a great purchase.
