This really is a wonderful cream. I highly rate Lush's new and improved packaging - i strayed from the brand for a few years because i found their old packaging flimsy and a liability, but they've clearly ironed out those kinks.
Sympathy for the Skin smells heavenly - like vanilla whip, has a light texture (but is quite moisturising), and has little flecks of vanilla in it (but these drop off, so don't worry).
It takes a little bit of time to absorb, so i dry my hair etc while waiting for it to sink in, but it doesn't take ages, and so isn't at all inconvenient.
I have really, really dry skin on my body and this has taken care of that. Previously i used Soap and Glory, but i like this more, even though it is more expensive. I'm willing to pay a little bit more to get more natural ingredients as i find it helps my skin in the long term.
I will definitely buy again.

ok,maybe I am nuts, but Lush Sympathy for the Skin completely r/o
I mean COMPLETELY took the burn/sting/hurt out of my (very very bad) sunburn!!!!!!!!!!! I need a gallon of this stuff!!!! For anyone who wonders, the scent description says banana, but it does not really smell like anything to me. I hate dipping my fingers in a jar to apply, its kinda expensive, and it does nto sink infast, but for those who get a sunburn, this is a miracle worker!!!!

Sympathy for the Skin where have you been all my life? This lotion is unbelievable. It smells devine and makes my skin soft and comfortable. I usually think of lotioning after the shower as a chore and sometimes even skip it so I wont be sticky or extra greasy, but with this I look forward to it. I wish they gave you more, I go through it like water.
Edit* The changed the formula and took the water out. There are less vanilla beans in it and it is thicker. The smell is not as pronounced (sad face)

Gosh, I hate to be the downer for it but this is one of my least favorite products. I've been a huge devoted fan of LUSH for years. I've tried it from England & here in the USA but it's always the same. I don't get an amazing scent for one, I get an eggy custard smell but it's very faint. It doesn't seem to moisturize all that well for me either. It feels kind of oily at first but an hour later, nothings changed. I know it has a cult following but I just dont see it I guess.

An extreme drink for thirsty skin! Smells good enough to eat. Thick, Rich and perfect for bedtime. Works amazingly well after you shave you legs - so soft and smooth. Tiny black flecks that disappear once applied (atleast for me? - they aren't an issue). I will most certainly be repurchasing in the future - HG potential. EDIT : This is my full time lotion. My one and only.
:) !

The scent is amazing -- sort of a banana/ vanilla-y fragrance. This lotion is light...I used to use this during the winter, and it's too light for that, plus it doesn't sink in fast. Prob better for spring/ summer. The scent lingers for a while too. I wish it came in different packaging though -- it's hard to travel with it, and don't like having to dip my fingers in the pot every time.

Quite simply, I wouldn't ever use any other body moisturiser. One sniff of the stuff is enough to tell you that its going to do your skin nothing but good. Great to slather on after a bath or shower, and perfect for freshly shaven legs.

when i got my first jar, i threw out all my other lotions..this smells amazing & isn't cliche, sweet, or overpowering. it's the only lotion i can put on my legs post-shave without stinging (and this stuff is so moisturizing, my legs always feel better)...the feeling & scent just kind of melts into your skin and doesn't fade. it's perfect. i would buy it in a gallon drum if they'd sell it.

LUSH’s Sympathy for the Skin is a rich but non-greasy everyday body cream, with a gentle vanilla and toffee aroma, or perhaps yogurt and honeycomb, or vanilla ice cream on waffles. Still, it’s subtle enough, fading to be unobtrusive. Since ‘vanilla pod infusion’ is one of the ingredients, I find it more likely the black bits are vanilla pod seeds than banana seeds, as others have written. These tiny particles can be brushed from the skin fairly easily, though if you don’t, it does look like storm flies have got caught in your arm hair.
Sympathy for the Skin absorbs quickly, and isn’t tacky or greasy. It wasn’t able to sort out my dry hands – I would recommend it for maintaining already healthy skin, rather than sorting out dry patches. This makes it perfect for daily use.
I use it after showering with LUSH gels or soaps and my skin is in good condition – soft, hydrated, and smelling of fudge.

This is just as great as Dream Cream without the gross Dream Cream scent! This smells like vanilla wafers and bananas. Yum! I hate the pot though. I need lotion in a bottle so it doesn't get under my fingernails.

I was not familiar with Lush until I joined Makeupalley and read some reviews on the products. I just received my first order this week and one of my purchases was Sympathy for the Skin. I am in Chicago and we are known as the Windy City for a reason. The cold winter weather always effects my skin so I need a really good moisturizer. I put this lotion on and it made my skin feel like silk. Also the smell is not overpowering so you won't have to worry about it interfering with your perfume. It has a vanilla almond scent but the almond is a little bit more noticeable. I also like that this lotion is not too greasy so it soaks into your skin quickly. Most creams and lotions recommended for dry skin are just too greasy and never seem to soak into my skin. Lush describes Sympathy for the Skin as a a replenishing lotion for parched, weathered skin. I took one lippie off because of the price. This 8.4 ounces of lotion is 22.35!!! I will only purchase this product for the winter unless I find something that will give me comparable results that cost less.

One of my favourites!
PROS: (1) alleviates my dry legs (2) smells amazing! Like almonds, vanilla, and banana custard without being all sugary [if that makes sense!] (3) works for my sensitive skin- no break outs [I have used it for over 2 months on a regular basis]!
CONS: (1) bottle not big enough :P (2) it takes FOREVER to absorb!
I used to shower in the morning, now I shower at night, gently towel dry my legs and than use this product all over my legs by massaging it into my skin. Every time I wake up, I smell good and my legs feel feathery soft, like cashmere! I also discovered a alternate use for this lotion, it works wonders as a cuticle softener. I slather the product over my hands and nails, rest my fingers in warm water for 3 minutes, than push my cuticles gently down with a towel, and trim (very effective!).
I am very happy with this product, I will definitely buy again!

Mmmm, smells like a vanilla custard slice! Often with other supposedly 'natural' body lotions *cough* Body Shop Body Butter *cough* - I get a slight whiff of something artificial. Not so with Sympathy. Once applied the scent dries down to a subtle foody scent, not overpowering at all. It only took a small blob to moisturize my desert-dry winter skin and it didn't sting my legs after shaving. Sinks in nicely and finish is silky, not greasy. At first I was worried those little black banana seeds would show up on my skin but luckily they don't!
This might be too heavy if you don't have dry skin.

yay. I first got this as a sample and all winter it kept me soft.
I like to always have this on hand. Smells like Vanilla,Almond and a hint of banana (theres even a few tiny banana seeds throughout the mix) and feels soft without being overly greasy.
However, this is more a wintertime moisturizer, it is a little heavy and definitely not for facial use.

I'm never going back to my regular lotions. I feel like I've wrapped myself in a vanilla custard feathery duvet. I refuse to put on perfume the mornings I put this on, and can't stop sniffing my arms! Skin is velvety soft, and the smell is oh so heavenly. Unless they jack the price up I have to say this lotion is absolute perfection.
I talk about my love for it in my YouTube lush product review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlNbBRNIXHg

After reading all the other reviews on this product I think I must have bought a dud batch! I thought this was disgusting.
When I opened it, I found that after a few months of non-use (although still well within the use-by date), the lotion had separated, and there was a layer of oil on the top. I stirred it with my finger and it did mix again- sort of. It didn't really smell like anything to me, especially not the banana or vanilla other users have mentioned.
I think this product must have been designed for people with Sahara-dry skin, because all it did on mine was sit on top of it for hours- and I mean hours, because I slept in it and when I woke up I was still like an oil slick. I tried to wipe some of it off and ruined my top, and have had to change my sheets, too. It left me covered in lots of little bits, both from the lotion and things that stuck to it.
Its one saving grace (and the reason I'm not throwing it away immediately) is that my skin does feel good today, as if I had only just applied moisturiser. I suppose that's because it was only just absorbed! But since I have to sacrifice my sheets for this feeling, once this (slightly overpriced) tub is finished, I won't be buying it again.

Very nice lotion. I feel that the price doesn't quite live up to what it delivers, but it is very moisturizing and gives you great-feeling skin.

To my nose, this is vanilla custard, much like the Bird's Custard powder Mom would cook up. Very foody and comforting. Just enough moisture without being greasy. I was given a hefy sample, Lush is very generous that way, and would definitely purchase in the full size. Contains: vanilla pod infusion, almond oil, fair trade cocoa butter, banana, stearic acid, glycerine, sandalwood oil, trethanolamine, lemon oil, labdanum resinoid, cetearyl alcohol, limolene, perfume, methylparaben, propylparaben. $23.95 Cdn for 240 g.
