This product is absolutely terrible!! This soap dryed my face out so bad and made it very red and splotchy and moisturizer would not help! Then again my face is so sensitive I can barely even use water on my face

This is the best cleanser for people who tend to break out. DO NOT USE THE LIQUID VERSION. It contains SLS (sodium laureth sulfate) which is a skin irritant. This is the last thing anyone needs, especially people prone to acne.

The bar foams great...you have to give your skin about a week to adjust its PH...may seem drying at first...but after a week you will be normalized. Use 2x a day.

Love this facial bar. It doesn't overstrip and makes my skin feel clean! The best part is it doesn't make me break out.

I'm 36 and began having problems with acne this past summer. Like most MUA junkies I love trying different products and have spent a small fortune on all kinds of stuff including a lot of naturals like Burt's Bees and about anything and everything you've seen on an infomercial. After 2 prescriptions for my acne problem I began doing research on more natural treatments for acne and found Purpose recommended by dermatologists (funny mine didn't even ask about what I was using as she wrote me prescriptions for $300 worth of stuff)and faithful users on many websites. I love this bar! I use it in the morning after my shower and also in the evening to remove my makeup. My face feels so clean and smooth after washing it with Purpose. I like the scent and the clean feel of this product. It is worth a try. You can't even buy a milkshake this cheap!

I've had to come back to this after being away. I tried other bars/facial washes and this works the best. It gets my skin clean and removes makeup.
I came back after seeing it in Jane magazine as one of the most recommended
face washes by dermatologists. They said this and cetaphil, and this was cheaper so I went with it. The only thing is be careful around the eyes, it does sting them. More than most washes I've used, but that also happens with clinique face bar too. Must be an ingredient...I just started using it again, so will update if it turns out not to work for me.

This cleansing bar is pretty good. I bought this on a whim, stuck it in my bathroom closet and forgot about it. Then I ran out of my regular cleanser and gave it a try. This bar does the job and leaves me with no redness. My skin is also clearer and smoother than it has been in months. My skin does feel a little dry after washing though, and I have to put an extra layer of moisturizer on. Will have to watch this.

Great product! This cleans better than any other soap (bar or liquid) I've ever used and it's cheap! Seems to unclog pores and help with belmishes as well! Awesome product!

Who would have thought?!?! This works great for my rosacea skin. I've tried other soaps, but the oil in each always results in clogged pores (e.g., Basis, DHC, Dove, etc.). This little gold bar is a wonder! No oil, no clogged pores. I could do without the fragrance, but it doesn't seem to bother my skin so I put up with the scent. My normally hyper-reactive, easily reddened skin loves this stuff! No redness, no itching, no breakouts, no bothering my rosacea. Dirt cheap (especially compared to the MIR that I have been faithfully using at a cost of about $25 per bottle). This can be a bit drying on its own, but I follow up with 2 or 3 drops of Skinceuticals Hydrating B-5 Gel right after I wash, and I must say that my skin looks great! I'm actually stocking up on this stuff, just in case the powers-that-be decide to discontinue it. :)

When I was in my early 30's and my sensitive skin tended toward the oily side, a dermatologist recommended this soap to me because I had eczema on my face. I loved the way it left my skin feeling super clean, but not stripped. It removed makeup easily, except for waterproof mascara, of course. Like most soaps, it can burn the eyes, so it's best to use a separate eye makeup remover.

Although this soap doesn't work for me anymore because my skin is now very dry due to aging, I indicated that I would repurchase it because I would still be buying it today if my skin hadn't changed.

I liked this soap better than the Purpose cleanser in the pump bottle. Just wish the bar soap wasn't so messy. Works good in the shower too, for bacne.

Holy Freakin Crap! HOw a $3 bar of soap cleared my face up COMPLETELY when thousands of dollars, 3 derms, 4 different treatments, and atleast 6 prescriptions couldnt is beyond me. Kind of pisses me off actually! lol Broke down and bought this after I was fed up and broke. I had come to terms that I was going to have zits forever so I may as well cheap up about it. After 3 days, 3 DAYS, my face is as clear as it was when I was 10 no kidding! I had my family in shock when I went to see them this weekend! They havent seen my face this clear in 17 years! This soap, purpose spf 15 lotion and some BP spot lotion and in 3 friggin days I am speechless! People, I was told my whole life to never use "soap" on my face NEVER EVER do this blah blah blah...this "soap" is what has saved my face! Try this! It may be drying but nothing that moisturizer cant fix. Takes off all my waterproof MU (not eye MU though, ouch!) and leaves it just clean. Thank you J&J for this $3 miracle!

A derm recommended this in lucky magazine and it intrigued me because I spend mega-bucks on an evening cleanser(because of makeup and sunscreen but for morning wanted something gentle...So I tried this and it definitely cleanses but am not sure if it would remove my makeup come evening. Its not drying on my weirdo combo skin and keeps oil in check and is non-irritating. Either way, its wonderful for morning and I love having a drugstore lineup for when I'm broke...

Been using this for about 3 years now, love it. Anytime I am tempted to try a different cleanser, I am dissapointed and I return to this lovely stuff. The bar lasts a really long time too.

I just had a studden lemming to try this product. So I bought it for like two dollars at CVS with a discount. I like it! I like how it is in bar soap form, one of the reasons I bought it. Everytime I use it, it makes me feel like someone who lives back in the old times...lol idk. The smell is oddly satisfying, and it has cleared up the little blackheads around my noes. My oily skin doesn't react bad to it, just a little dryness alround the hairline, nothing moisturizer can't fix. It has kept my mild acne away for a bit, I don't know if it's the cleasner or the medication. It lathers nicely, and leaves you with a squeaky clean feel, so this is awesome!

My dermatologist gave me a sample and recommended it for continued use, but it was really drying. My face was flaking so badly that moisturizer barely helped. The dermatologist switched me to Neutrogena acne wash for exfoliation, and even with salicylic acid, it's much gentler.

I got a sample of this from my dermatologist. I like it--it removes makeup well and does not leave my face too dry or too slippery. I sometimes alternate another cleaner one or two times a week. I feel like it's pure and gentle and it's certainly a good buy.

I think I may have found the perfect cleanser. I am so surprised to say that it is a bar of soap. It is a little drying but nothing bothersome but the best thing is that it seems to have almost cleared up my acne (I hope I'm not jinxing myself). For a while I was using the Aveeno cleanser for sensitve skin but while not creating acne it didn't get rid of it either. Oh my gosh I almost forgot the best thing. My skin used to turn RED when I would wash it (no matter if it or I was "gentle" or not) but this cleansing bar totally calms it down. I do not get red at all anymore. Even when I rub my face fairly hard with my hands (I don't use a washcloth anymore.) my face looks like I just woke up. A definite great buy. It was $3.42 at Target and lasts over a month.

I normally don't write reviews, but I felt I had to go out of my way for this one. This stuff managed to make the oily parts of my face even OILIER while simultaneously drying out the regularly normal parts.

Awful!

This is the greatest face cleanser EVER. It really cleans my skin well. This will be the only face cleanser I will ever use now. If you wash your face with this 2x a day, you should see positive results in the near future. Good stuff, lasts long.

I use this and love it. I'm on a regimine that involves Retin-A and Obagi Clear and this is gentle enough to use twice daily without irritating my skin. (note: my sister's facialist told her that you should wash your face twice in the evening to rid skin of all makeup and pollution, so I do--just lather once, rinse, and then repeat it, and this is still gentle enough for me). Will definitely continue using.
