I bought this powder after seeing it MUA's most recently reviewed section -- bought the vanilla cream color and it is just great! I've been using Lauren Hutton's Aqua Elements foundation powder in pink (I'm 54 years old) and although I still love it, the color was a tiny tad too dark for me. But I've been using the Too Faced powder first, with a little bit of the Aqua Elements over it and WOW!! I've been getting so many compliments on my makeup now! The Too Faced Amazing Face really hides so many flaws, while looking perfectly natural! It also stays very matte on my skin without getting shiny later on in the day. I use a powder brush and not the applicator pad that came with it. AND the container it comes in is absolutely adorable!

I am not one who uses powders, I usually use a liquid foundation and some bronzer or blush. I bought this to try something new. For a powder I loved it. It actually had pretty great coverage for just a powder. It matched my skin tone perfectly.

I've been religiously browsing through products for the longest time and attested that I'd never really gush over something enough for me to stop and write a review on but really-- it's THAT good.

I have the blessing of being born with less than average skin: dry, sensitive, at times eczema-prone and the occasional break outs. Due to this very multi-shitty faceted combination, I've struggled with acquiring a foundation worthy of HG status (oil control, even coverage, nicely matte without drying, yadiyadiya) that properly suits my preferences (I'm a never-on-time student, always on the go. I also like to clean up very nice on rare occasions I go out. So it has to be a product that I can use in a 5 minute swipe AND still function for daily+formal events)

As I winded through a jarring list of mineral+liquid foundations, I encountered something a little better than average which eventually became worthy of daily usage: Laura Mercier's Mineral Powder. However, I began to notice it made my overall dry face ironically oily and shiny and the finish was beginning to look dull and flat.

Off to Sephora I went and came home with this cute little thing. I applied this and was astounded with the results. Just smooth, matte, (I agree with what a user stated) hollywood porcelain-esque finish. The coverage however, was semi light and at the time didn't fulfill my need at the time for mediumish slightly full coverage.

I decided to use this in conjunction with the LM mineral foundation for better coverage (may seem like grossly layered but note that this product is also intended to be used OVER liquid foundations!) and found a convenient technique that has left my skin FLAWLESS, EVEN, MATTE, and gorgeous and safe enough to keep breakouts at bay (again this is coming from someone who grew up loathing how my gfs inherited their mother's complexion while I was left an epidermal mess lol)

Wash, exfoliate, moisturize, then I lightly apply LM mineral foundation evenly with an Ecotools Kabuki Brush (excellent product btw), conceal some spots, and gently even everything out with this foundation using the sponge (never thought I'd see the day using a sponge applicator but it works!).

Legitimate proof that it's worth the dough: Walking in and having your ridiculously over-critical younger sister who has a more than familiar history of condemning every foundation in sight stating they were either too drying, made me look like a flaky ass mess, too shiny, too cakey, too white, too orange, too yellow, too oily...finally say:

"Your skin looks nice. ... Are you even wearing foundation?"

Sorry but a product that garners a VERY long awaited compliment of that respect deserves a definite holyomggrail in my book.

Also for reference I'm NC 20-25 in Mac, Golden Medium in BM, Real Sand in LM (not a precise match due to it's lack of yellow undertones but this TF product evens me out perfectly)... and Perfect Nude was the right match for the very "Asian" tones in my skin. I also gently exfoliate on a daily basis with the Olay Cleansing Brush and it is greatly effective on smoothing out dry patches, allowing my moisturizer to even out and absorb well, and helping foundation adhere on like neva before :)

Horrible, it made my skin all flaky and oddly dry, and I have combination skin! The color selection isn't the greatest either.

So Im always looking for that perfect powder and saw the reviews from my fellow MUA peeps and thought Id give it a go! Its a great powder, covers well. Only downside is this runs out soooo fast! I just got it like 2 weeks ago and I already see the bottom of the compact! Ugh. I only use once in morning with a powder brush ever so lightly and if i need a touch up i apply later on in the day. So other then that its worth trying. Id like to repurchase but if I find something that last longer with the same coverage Im gonna party ways with this one. Its too expensive to run out so soon!!

*Update - My original review of this was Jan. 10, 2011, and I just repurchased this again today (June 16, 2012), and I haven't strayed from this product for over a year. I have to repurchase it pretty frequently as I use it every day and you really don't get that much in the pan, but it's worth it for me, and I've repurchased it over and over and over. This is mainly because it happens to be a fantastic color match for me, and, as I mentioned below, it doesn't get all gross/blotchy when my skin gets oily through the day. It does fade on my insanely oily skin through the day, but I prefer even fading over blotchy separating (as most foundations do). This is still the best-suited foundation for me that I've found so far.

*ORIGINAL REVIEW:
So, I just went to Sephora to repurchase my second Too Faced Amazing Face SPF 15 powder so that I have it on hand, as my first one is very close to being completely used up, and so far it's the best foundation I've used.

My skin is extremely difficult and frustrating - it's *insanely* oily, breakout-prone, sensitive, with diffuse redness, so my IDEAL foundation would (a) have a completely matte finish (but not dry it out/make my skin flaky), (b) have a perfect skin match (my skin is very fair with yellow-ish but almost neutral undertones; most foundations are too pink, dark, or orange), (c) look natural, like skin, (d) have buildable coverage (sheer-medium for everyday, fuller for going out), (e) last, preferably all day, and (f) not cause breakouts or irritation. It should be noted that I don't expect ANY foundation or powder to ever be able to keep my oily skin matte for very long, as it produces such ridiculous amounts of oil, but it's essential that my foundation doesn't contribute to the oiliness.

Before applying this foundation, I moisturize, then use my trusty milk of magnesia as a primer on my t-zone. This powder foundation has a nice matte finish which I love, though I have to make sure I moisturize properly otherwise it will emphasize flakes. I use the shade Warm Vanilla, which is the best match I've been able to get so far from a foundation. Upon application it looks very nice and natural, especially if I apply it over a smoothing, silicone-based primer like YSL Touche Mat. The coverage is indeed buildable from sheer to medium; when I try to get medium-full coverage it *can* start looking a bit obvious/powdery. The lasting power is decent - I use blotting film throughout the day and it does remove some of the pigment, but overall, I can't expect much to last on my skin, and this does a pretty good job. I put it on at about 9am today and looking in the mirror right now at 8pm, there's still some left to even out my skin tone at least a bit. This absolutely does not cause me any breakouts, and no signs of irritation - my skin has been very clear and happy while using this.

Overall, I love this powder. I think the quality is great, and the compact is adorable. If my skin wasn't so awful I'm sure this would make me look flawless; unfortunately I can't expect a miracle. But I highly recommend this product, and as I mentioned before, I have already repurchased. I'm very happy I found this powder, as it is a definite step up from the NARS powder foundation and the Shiseido sheer matifying compact I had been using prior to this (see my reviews).

This stuff looks beyond natural. Very buildable. Super smooth and minimizes the appearance of my pores. So smooth that it feels like a HD powder to me. If you want to build it up to a full coverage look , it will still look natural ! That's what I love about this powder. You can pack it on and on and it will still look natural. I prefer this over my shiseido one just because this doesn't give such a heavy coverage (which I don't need) and looks a lot more natural.

Make up? or velvet in powder form? The texture of this foundation is AMAZING, even better than Jane Irredale. The coverage of this product is really great too, I wouldn't expect anything less from Too Faced. (despite their foundation fails) However, being Too Faced, if my acne wasn't under such good control, I'd fear that this would break me out like crazy. If you don't have that fear, give it a shot!

My favorite foundation at the moment. Best powder foundation I've ever gotten. Really worth a try :)
PROS. It's not heavy, covers well, lovely texture, long lasting, natural-matte finish, spf, oil control, gorgeous packaging
CONS. ehh... I don't think I have any complaints on this one. It's a little expensive, but it's definitely worth every penny. Shades may be a problem, but not for me. I'm an NC20 and got Wam Vanilla. It sometimes look a little light, but if somehow settles into your skintone.
... I love it! <3

I'm on my second compact of this stuff and I still love it! I have sensitive, redness prone, combination skin and I have yet to have an allergic reaction from this. I find that the powder goes on smoothly and creamy and leaves a skinlike smooth airbrushed finish. The best way to apply this is after using a primer such as Ready To Wear Underwear Makeup Base, YBF Neutralizing Face Primer, because this will make a huge difference not only in how well the powder will go but also how long it will last. I also used the new Amazing Concealer under the powder to conceal some left over old blemish marks and undereye circles and it did so remarkablye well without caking. I use the new Too Faced Pouf Powder brush with this powder and it applies the powder very evenly and I can control whether I want a sheer coverage or a more fuller coverage. I like the fact that it sets quickly to a creamy flawless finish that lasts all day and I don't need to touch up until much later in the day. Other powders don't last quite as long and tend to become cakey, break up on the face, settle into fine lines or disappear during the day. Not this one. It stays just as fresh as when I applied first thing in the morning. It's also not drying and doesn't irritate my skin at all. As far as the sunscreen coverage, I was able to walk around in the sun recently during vacation and did not get a sunburn. This is definitely a keeper. I use Warm Vanilla which blends exquisitely into my fair, light skin with slightly warm understones. Highly recommend!

The packaging is so darling, I enjoyed toting this around. Though it did not meet my expectations. I purchased the shade warm vanilla. Its almost too matte and a bit ashy looking at initial application, and I tend to dig am more satin finishes. It's odd almost how it still maintains a medium sheer coverage when buffed into the skin..I like to keep things on the sheer side but it's too bad for when i need more coverage. I do not consider it buildable. The first layer already looks too powdery. But with little coverage!
I always applied it with a kabuki brush, the sponge is useless. I imagine with a primer it may adhere better, but I couldn't stand how it eventually flaked off the tip of my nose. I have not experienced that with any other powder foundation in this price range.
Sometimes I just like a little tinted moisturizer in the morning and a touch up of mineral foundation during the afternoon. I found his product caked a bit when you do not apply it to perfectly clean skin.
It also oxidizes slightly and has very little oil control. A big deal when they claim it contains regu-seb.
My biggest gripe however, is after application it does not set into the skin enough to withstand creme makeup over it. So no concealer for touch up jobs, no cream blush, no liquid highlighters. It's ridiculous. It just sort of smears off in large sections when trying to apply other makeup over it.
The only good things I can say about it is despite the strangely matte finish it creates, It is still more flattering than many matte powder foundations.
I also can attest that it does not settle too badly into fine lines.
The silky texture feels very nice on the skin as well.
I have oily and sensitive skin. So mineral makeup is always more attractive to me. I exfoliate and moisturize regularly as well. There is no reason why this did not work for me.

I bought this and the Primed and Poreless loose powder on a whim at Ulta during a bi-polar shopping fit. I am very please with this powder. It's a perfect color, great coverage and easy and painless to apply. I hear it works great if you dampen it and apply it wet, I have yet to try it though. It keeps my oily t-zone nice and clean, while not being dry or cake-y on my dry cheeks. It's one of the better pressed powder foundations I have used. I'm not sure how I feel about the Primed and Poreless loose powder. I personally think Hard Candy's Welcome Matte works better. Over all, good foundation for us oily gals that need coverage and oil absorption. I applied it with my Sephora 45 mineral brush, which is the baddest ass brush I have EVER owned. Love it. And it work flawlessly with the powder.

I was not sure if I wanted to go ahead and try this or not... but I broke down and bought it, and I am so glad I did! I am in love with this powder foundation! On my "no makeup" days I wear this alone and it gives a sheer to medium coverage, but on my more glamorous days, I wear this over my liquid foundation, and it gives the most flawless porcelain, full coverage finish! I've tried countless powders and powder foundations, and never have I found something so smooth and silky. This makes your skin look like silk. This powder has a "creamy" texture to it, and blends beautifully (I use the sponge it comes with to apply). I have very oily skin, and it does a good job of holding up against my oiliness. I do use blotting sheets once or twice through out the day, but this stays on nicely and doesn't rub off on them. My only gripe is that the shade range is very limited, and I do have to mix colors, I use Vanilla Creme and Perfect Nude mixed together, and I do get a perfect match. I don't mind having to buy 2 compacts though, because it lasts twice as long then! Other than that this is the perfect powder! Also, you don't get that powdery cakey look with this, its just very smooth and flawless! I highly recommend this to everyone!

Finally! A replacement powder for Prescriptives Anywear. I am absolutely gaga over this powder. I found a perfect colour match in Warm Vanilla. It matches my face and neck. I've been using it just over a month with great success: no break outs, no offensive shine break through and no oxidation. This powder, which I apply with a kabuki brush, gives me smooth, buildable colour. Using it on top of Too Faced’s Primed & Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer, it gives me all day wear (by all day I mean a full work day). I do think if you need/want full-coverage, this may not be the powder foundation for you. But for me, it meets my needs and I am so happy to have found it.

***UPDATE*** Despite my rave review below I'm really sad to say that although i did love this product my skin has broken out after using it for a couple of weeks (nothing else changed!). I'm really gutted because i loved it and even had people comment on my skin... not now though :(

I'm normally a tinted moisturiser kind of girl but it's coming up towards winter and I need more coverage.
As a busy mum of two I don't have as much time as I'd like to get ready so I want something quick and easy, with the least faff possible!
I really love this foundation. I bought the warm vanilla shade, and although I initially thought it was too yellow for my skin it did just as the other reviewers have said and seemed to adjust really well after a few minutes. It does a great job of evening out my skin tone and is so very easy to apply. I either use my Prescriptives round buff brush or the pad that comes with the foundation. Both work well but I prefer the brush as I get a more polished look. (Oh how i miss my beloved Prescriptives!)
I think the packaging is gorgeous and seems really sturdy, i love the logo!
The foundation lasts well and doesn't dry my skin (which is sensitive).
I actually like the look of my skin when I'm wearing this so I will definately be buying it again!

I am really loving Too Faced lately!! This one really impressed me. It's a similar concept to MAC Studio Fix compact powder fndtn... However, it is not similar in that it is not chalky and powdery and crackly looking on the face! It is smooth, almost creamy- covers very nicely, but doesn't look mask-like! No cakey face here!! Just quick, gorgeous coverage. Comes with similar packaging as Studio Fix as well- flip up compact reveals a sponge for application. I have this in Vanilla Creme. Very neutral, light color but not TOO light. Just enough color! I don't have a single complaint here! P.S. I've noticed like some others here that 30+ mins after application, the product "settles" onto your skin nicely and looks more natural- kind of like sinks in...*UPDATE* I picked this up in "Warm Vanilla" as well since I'm liking the little extra warmth/color it gives me*

I wear this over Chanel Primer. Without the primer, it is a little light at first, then fabulous in 30 minutes. With the primer, it is immediately fabulous. It looks SO GOOD, my husband has made several comments about how rested and great I look. Perfect Nude is the perfect color for my light-med skin, and it is the first foundation of any type or brand that I do not touch up throughout the day. At night, I add a touch of Armani loose powder.

I even use the new Fusion cream blush OVER this, and it does not pull or pool over the powder. This is a new look for me, very smooth and natural, and I look a lot better. It feels great too--like nothing, but better, and with the primer, I have no shine all day.I will be stocking up. Please never be discontinued!!!!

I finally broke down and decided to buy this and I absolutely love this powder foundation.......and its the first I have been able to wear because I seem to have such sensitive skin I am allergic to all the other brands. I also have NEVER been able to find a foundation that matches my skin exactly and this foundation is it. Even the lady at Sephora couldn't believe the match. I wear the lightest shade Vanilla cream. It goes on sheer but you can build on the coverage for a full coverage look and boy does it cover well. It does not feel dry on my face nor does it make my face look dry or powdery. I am actually trading in my liquid foundation for this because it looks sooo good on my skin. I am soo impressed but then there hasn't been a Too Faced product that I have been disappointed in. This definitely is my go to brand.

(This review is for Vanilla Creme, the lightest shade). I would like to note that this product has a very limited range of shades that are all on the light side, which makes me a little uncomfortable, but this particular foundation IS light enough for me, and only a hair too warm/neutral. Also, the price is high, but there are in-store testers so you can avoid spending money on makeup that doesn't work.

Now, on to the review: I caved and bought this after too much frustration with trying to mix liquid foundations and fussing with the mess from the one (discontinued) loose powder that matches my skin. I just do NOT have time for a fifteen minute ritual every morning. This foundation to the rescue! I can get it on in seconds, and I love the buildable coverage. One layer will give you a sheer finish, and two will give you an old-school Hollywood powdery matte finish. The wear is great, and I love love LOVE the fact I can carry it around with me. (And if time is money, this thing paid for itself in the first week).

I was searching for a "compact" powdered foundation for a trip and came across this one. I absolutely LOVE IT!!!

'Have to say that as I age, the powder formulas are less and less friendly to my face. They look fine just after application, but tend to fade away and accentuate lines after a few hours wear. Not the case with Too Faced Amazing Face!!! I can use this either as a setting powder over my medium coverage liquid (using a fluffy brush) or wet the sponge that's included and use it alone. It works beautifully either way and I love products with versatility!

It helps keep shine at bay for hours, looks natural - not caky - and I'm even fond of the lacy-edged compact it comes packaged in! I've tried many of the higher-end powdered foundations without the level of success and benefits this one provides. I can even add a fresh layer later in the day without getting a built up look. A winner as far as I'm concerned and I didn't expect it would work for me! Thanks, Too Faced!
