I don't think this product is great for people who have dark hair. I have dark brown hair and used the brown powder and although it did absorb some oil it leaves a lot of residue behind and if you touch your hair it the colour comes off on your hands. It may make your hair look less oily but it certainly makes your hair feel more gunky and more dirty. I think i will stick to using my Batiste dry shampoo as it refreshes my hair without weighing it down or leaving any residue behind and is so much cheaper!

I really love this! but can see its not for everyone. Just for comparisons sake, I have short dark blonde hair that is dyed bright red. My hair is naturally normal but I use so many heated styling products on it that the roots are healthy, but the rest of it is frizzy!

I like this product as it
1. Gets rid of my roots- for at least 1 if not 2 shampoo/condition washes. In fact, I went to a hair salon to get my roots done. Bear in mind I had applied it the previous week and washed my hair thoroughly (shampoo, treatment, conditioner, heated-styling-products) at least 3 times before I got to the salon. But when there, they would not believe my hair was naturally blonde, and kept saying they saw red "growing from the roots". Now I know its impossible for this to happen- but just to add, it does have staying power!

2. Deals with the fact I may have missed the chance to wash my hair by blotting any grease and lasts until the next chance I can wash my hair properly.

3. Can give body if I need it to

4. Works better then any dry shampoo which seem to leave a white powder like finish to my hair- this doesn't, this goes on red, stays red.

5. I can wear it in the gym! I sweat buckets when I workout- you see at the base of some machines is a wet splatter? that's how much I sweat- its gross! But just to say, I sweat and yet this product still doesn't run down my face or smear or go mad. Maybe its because its had a few hours to settle in and dry properly, but I've not had a problem with it.

6. It blends well. My hair gets its colour changed to a different red whenever I dye it. This product seems to fit all of the reds I have dyed my hair.

The only problems I have had are
1. Applying can be tricky- hold a towel or something to be washed soon after in front of your face to stop your face being coloured too. (Not what you want if the colour your using is red!)

2. Its not great on newly washed dry frizzy hair- it can make it more volumised- not really what I need when my hair is already frizzy and fluffy and mad!

3. Its very expensive! I have the 4oz flash, it lasts for a while, but they do a smaller 4oz can which must go in a flash, both are very expensive for what they are- OK they are a good product, but it does seem that its been priced so high its too high, even if it were gold, everything in context please! and a cheaper alternative needs to be made by someone!

I loved the performance of this product, I used the white version on my blonde hair and found that it instantly refreshed and mattified greasy areas and also added volume. However, you don't get a lot for your money, the spray is tiny and I had only 3-4 uses out of it before it ran out and my hair is in a bob! I was very disappointed with the amount of product and cannot justify spending another £15 on a product I get to use 3 times.

Horrible! What is the point of this product? My old stylist, who was apparently a shill for Bumble and Bumble, used the brunnette powder on me once and not only did it not make any difference but later in the day when I was sweating for some reason, the powder ran down my face along with the sweat. I looked like I did a sloppy rinse after doing a kitchen sink dye job and then got caught in a dust storm. Terrible. My stylist told me that Hair Powder is good for absorbing excess oil in between shampoos but recenty I was at a spa checking out dry shampoos and I saw Hair Powder again but the SA emphatically told me that it was not a dry shampoo so I'm thoroughly confused. Give Klorane and Oscar Blandi dry shampoos a try if you're interested in a dry shampoo. I prefer the Klorane spray but Oscar Blandi comes in both a spray and a powder.

My hair is very dark (almost black) brown. I bought this powder spray in brown after reading good reviews. Unfortunately, this product was a total waste of money! I thought it would soak up oil and act as a powdery shampoo. I tried using this three or four times. Each time, my hair ended up feeling worse than it did before! The powder left my hair feeling greasier and sticky! YUCK!! I wish I could have returned it for a refund. Maybe Kerastase will come out with a similar product that will actually work. I am not going to try any other Bumble & Bumble products because they either do not work at all, or do not come close to anything from Kerastase. I guess this powder works for some people, but I will definitely not be repurchasing.

i am shocked at how bad the ratings are for this! bb's hair powder has been a staple for me for many years. first let me clarify that i am talking about the loose powder and NOT the spray. i have tried so many spray powders and hate them. they come out wet and kindof plaster your hair to your head.

i have this in brown, and even when i go lighter this works for me if i just tousle it through a bit. it absorbs oil and eliminates the flatness that tends to accompany dirty, greasy hair. the key is to lift your hair up and sprinkle it underneath, at the roots. then ill usually go over it with the blow dryer to remove any excess.

sooo much better than spray powders and lasts a long time. volumizes and cuts greasiness. i love it.

I actually kind of like this product, although I don't use it often. I got the brown too, like many other reviewers. It does a pretty good job of soaking up the grease, but don't even think about touching your hair or laying down on anything light colored, which is the mistake I made. I should have got the white one. I honestly think you would be better off just going with baby powder on the roots to soak up grease. It's way cheaper and does the job just as good if not better. The one thing I do like about this spray is it's easy to use and it really gets the grease, and adds texture at the same time. I like to use it to wear my hair up, and I tease it a tad at the crown and it helps hold the volume forever. I wouldn't buy this again, just because I rarely use it and the color gets freakin everywhere. It's a good idea, but maybe if it were reformulated somehow it would get a higher review from me.

The saleswoman at Blue Mercury totally talked me into buying the full-size version of this hair powder in brown. Argh, I hate it. First of all, the brown was too dark for me because my hair is naturally light brown. I was going to buy the blonde, but the saleswoman convinced me to get the brown. Then, it stained a shirt with brown specks. Now, I don't even think I can try to use it because I've highlighted my hair. The powder is icky, gets under your fingernails if you need to scratch your scalp, doesn't get rid of any greasies. Just makes me feel like I need to wash my hair even more! This may be the worst beauty purchase I have ever made, and it was so expensive! Even the Jessica Simpson sugar scrub was better.

I don't understand how this product can be supposedly coveted by so many in the industry (and also celebrities). It was on my Christmas list last year, and still sits redundant. It's sticky, thick and basically paints your scalp the colour you buy, drying your hair out so much in the process. My hair is very dark brown, but I didn't want to choose the black for fear of others being able to see where I had sprayed the powder! This happened anyway.. it was liking taking a can of spray paint to my hair. The nozzle clogs instantly as well so the application is hardly ever even. If you want something to degrease your roots and extend the volume and life of your hair after washing - try Batiste.. it's cheap and cheerful - and works a treat! Don't waste your money on products like this.

I was happy to get this product. My roots are so oily. I wash everyday. I had hoped this would help. I really did not like this. I got one with a little color. Brown. If you get some on your skin you can see it. It makes my hair feel nappy and gross. I had a pair of sunglasses and pushed them on to my hair, pulled them back over my eyes, back up again and I had brown stuff all over my face. It spreads. I tried it again and was paranoid the color would spread on something all day. I would not recmend this. It is not worth the $ or the hassel

I didn't like this stuff. My hairdresser sprayed the white powder on me and she then talked me into buying the brown powder. I like to run my fingers through my hair and every time I did with the brown powder I got brown stuff in my fingernails. It also gets on clothes and other things. It also makes your hair feel weird, dry and sticky.

This didn't do it for me at all. It sprays with such force that it was impossible to control, and just blew my fine hair around like crazy while splattering the bathroom with dirty brown splodges (and I bought the one for blondes!) Maybe I was using it wrong or had a defective nozzle, but this totally put me off. Also, the fact that it is coloured means you have to be very careful not to get it on your scalp, because it doesn't brush out as easily as other hair powders. The final result was quite a cool matt effect, but also tangled and sticky feeling hair. I prefer Stila's Jade Blossom hair refresher for the amazing smell and texture it gives, or Batiste cos its so cheap and effective :)

Staple product! I have a full-size version at home, another in the car, and the mini-version in my handbag. I use the brown colour, and it's amazing! I tend to have very oily hair but with this spray I don't have to wash my hair as often..miracle. I'm surprised to see so many bad reviews. I think the way you apply it makes all the difference. Shake very hard. Make sure you spray at least 30 cm away from your roots. Now, wait a few minutes to let dry. Now brush vigorously out. I always bend over and brush from the back of my head forwards to give volume. The smell is kinda icky, but goes away eventually I find. Packaging is nothing special. A bit pricey maybe, but I believe it's definitely worth it. x

okay so after reading all the reviews, i take it that the product is best on blondes/gray colored hair.
i use the powder to extend time between washings and to give a little more volume at the top of my head. its amazing in my opinion.
it makes my hair look more platinum blonde annd helps my up-do's stay better, which is a huge plus.
i love it and ill definatly continue to buy it, even if its riduculously overpriced. i'd rather be buying pricey products than use baby powder with talc in it.
****helpful hint: if your nozzle clogs at all, store the bottle upside down, i know it sounds riduculous, but i work at a beauty supply store and we store all of our hairsprays upside down to make them last longer and to keep the nozzle from clogging

as a result of the expensive price, i have ventured out and tried tigi's bedhead rockstar dry shampoo AND big sexy hair volume dry shampoo. i liked the bedhead rockstar dry shampoo- it goes on looking wet but dries.. well...dry. weird, i know. but its been my fav so far, and its a reasonable price for a much bigger bottle

I am terrified to use this on a day when I need to leave the house. I have strawberry blond hair and my stylist gave me the blonde-light brown one. I sprayed it on my hand first and it's....a liquid? A dark brown liquid. I sprayed a little at the roots and didn't notice a difference.

I was planning to use this for my wedding because my hair gets oily at the root and needs volume, but I am concerned it will stain my veil and/or dress.

It was also $19 for a "sample size" which seems insane. I've used cornstarch for the same effect in the past and I think I will continue to do so.

Yuck. While I liked the matte finish this powder gave me, it is not worth the mess! Everytime I ran my fingers through my hair or scratched my scalp, I had black residue all over my hands. I dont think there is any way around it. My hair felt so dry after using this product also. Back to Rene Furterer Naturia I go.

This stuff sucks! It stains EVERYWHERE! Your clothes, your pillow etc., and it also makes your hair frizzy. It does dry out excess oil, but the downsides are too major for me to EVER use this again. This goes right in the dump. Also, the bottle leaks.

Just like kspade, I primarily use this spray (the brown color) right after I wash and blowdry, not just to extend time between washings. I recently cut my fine, straight hair into a short A-line bob and this powder is perfect for teasing and giving my cut more body and texture. I HIGHLY recommend having your stylist use it on you before you buy it so that you can see the right technique for your hair. I think that's the reason why people are having problems with the product - the application really makes or breaks how the spray preforms.

yes. i love this. I have RED HAIR. I noticed theres not alot of review for this color. works great. obviously it is matte but it claims no different. it even reccomends using some shine spray after if necesary. i also scored mine for like 15$ on eaby so that definently makes it worthwile. best dry shampoo i tried.

EDIT: I love this stuff to DEATH. I have tried some cheapers but i gotta have the color!! disquises my roots, amps up my red color when im fading/growing out and in need of a touch up. I had no issues with transference, never stained anything and i use it ALL the time.

My rating of a two is for the Black color. I got this b/c I'm a natural blonde with fine hair and I recently died my hair black, my roots look I'm going bald and grey haha. I use it to cover my roots which is great and it does, but it does not give any body, and makes it so I can't touch my hair or scratch my head! Everytime I do my nails look as though I was digging in dirt! When I go back blonde, I would however be interested in the blonde or white, b/c my blonde hair had more issues with it looking greasy, where as black doesn't show it as much. If your blonde it's great, black or dark brown not the wisest choice.
