I suffered from clogged pores and whiteheads for over a year and nothing worked. I used 10% AHA alone, Retin-A (still using this for anti-aging benefits), benzoyl peroxide, dermalogica scrub, chemical peels, pore extraction, nothing worked. My pores were still clogged. Then i found this product. AHA + BHA is a match made in HEAVEN. After 2 weeks, my whiteheads were GONE. I'm so happy and my skin is also very happy :) The gel is light-weight and because it contains alcohol, it HELPS your skin to absorb the treatment. If you're afraid of alcohol drying up your skin, just be sure to moisturize after. I use 2 pumps this in the morning under my moisturizer and sunscreen. I use Retin-A at night, but sometimes alternate with this treatment. LOVE THIS!!!! Thank you PTR. Please never stop making this.

Was really hopeful that this would help clear some adult acne, and at first, it appeared to. Then it seemed to irritate my skin and make breakouts worse. I looked it up in the Paula Begoun book and she said it has way too much alcohol for acne-prone or sensitive skin. I expected more from a product this expensive.

My review of this product is mixed. Unlike the other reviewers, I actually like the texture of the product and I feel like it absorbs normally without a residue. It also leaves my skin feeling ridiculously soft. The big pro is that my forehead is completely clear after about six weeks of use, and it was covered in whiteheads when I started. Unfortunately, it does very little for my hormonal acne. It actually seems like it might be making it worse. I'm going to continue to use this bottle until it is gone, but if my chin/mouth/jaw acne does not improve by then, the next bottle I buy will be used on my forehead only.

I bought the PTR acne travel kit at Sephora. I liked all the products, but they mostly dried me out and I believe that the BHA product (which was quite sticky) made be break out into goosebump like clear, tiny spots on my upper neck/jawline area (which is my "problem" area). I think it also aggravated my skin, which led to a massive sudden break out that I am only now, months later, almost done with. It works for some, but didn't work for me.
Age: 36-43 Skin: Combination, Fair, Neutral Hair: Brown, Straight, Fine Eyes: Blue
PROS: Works somewhat. Comes in a kit that for PTR is quite inexpensive.
CONS: My teens' acne skin actually does better with Neutrogena's Rapid Clear line or Alba Botanica's Natural Acnedote line

Been using this daily for over 3 years, best acne/pore clearing product on the market, I have tried soo many, all high end brands. It clears blemishes, blackheads, and milia and never dries out my skin combo skin!!!
EDIT: Sadly over the last year this has slowly but surely stopped working for me. My skin was becoming increasingly clogged and congested with mild to moderate acne at almost all times. I switched to Murad Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel(simular product, but stronger), with the Murad clarifying cleanser and even better Perricones Intensive Pore Minimizer Toner, my skin has cleared up, toned up, and pores are clean and small!!!

Didnt love it. It felt drying (other reviewers say there is alcohol in it) and didnt do much for me.
Age: 19-24 Skin: Sensitive, Fair-Medium, Neutral Hair: Brunette Eyes: Brown
This is an ok product for me. I have sensitive skin so I can;t use this all the time because the alcohol dries my skin out really bad! BUT when I am breaking out my skin gets really oily. So this is perfect for a couple of days. It helps control my oil, helps clear up my acne quicker, so it's perfect for that reason. I have to wear my Clinique dramatic different gel over the top of this, otherwise it is too drying. I miiiiiight buy this again....depends if I keep breaking out in the future.

Expensive? Yes. I could probably find the same ingredients in something for half the price but would probably have to order it. When I bought this, I had so many breakouts (and so many different kinds of breakouts: cone, white heads, black heads, below the surface, etc.) and picked this up at Sephora. It reduced a lot of my irritated and red breakouts along my hair-line over night and brough a beneath-the-surface one to a healing cone. I continued to use this morning and night until the situation was a lot better, then rotated it to every night, then once every other night with some Retin-A on alternating nights. Really great product, just remember to wear sunscreen during the day!

I purchased this as part of a kit. The details for this product says to apply on oily areas. My skin is acne prone, combination and at times very oily. So, I use it all over. It's part of my skin regiment. I use it morning and night if I have bad breakouts. But, using this kit, I'm having less and less breakouts, so I only use this in the morning.
Doesn't dry out my skin. Works find with my make up. Very nice product! I will buy again.

This stuff can be harsh but it works for me (oily, thick skin) when I break out. I went to a dermatologist in high school who gave me this along with a nasty-smelling sulfur mask and Pernox (great, stinky scrub for zitty people) and my skin was clear in a month.
When I broke out recently, I didn't panic. I went to Sephora and blew some money. On this and the MD Skincare Alpha Beta Peel. A week later, I'm clear again. Massive breakouts depress the hell out of me so it was worth blowing money on 2 tried and true products that clear me up.
Also, this PTR gel is good for fine lines, an added bonus.

I started using this because my pores have been really clogged up and I was having acne bumps all over but I also developed dry skin (used to be combination/oily) and I wanted to refine my skin and treat my acne bouts. Looking up AHA/BHA acids I came across this guy. My skin is clearer, my pores look much smaller and when a pimple appears, it clears up quickly. I really like it, doesn't burn or sting although the very first time I put on it felt funny but not uncomfortable that I had to wash off. So far so good. This is actually the only non-natural or organic product I use. For some reason I've tried Neutrogena, Olay,Garnier Nutrisse and my skin didn't like it them at all so I changed up to natural/organic prods. Anyway, I will use my PTR bottle up and maybe repurchase.

I just bought this yesterday, and I cannot believe that I have seen results in a single day. I put it on last night before I went to bed, and this morning I woke up to skin with a soft, smooth, texture. All the little rough bumps I'd been unable to get rid of were gone. I bet that is from the glycolic acid in this product. My acne hasn't cleared up yet, but I think a total face clearing in a single night is a bit much to ask for.
A little goes a long way with this product. A single pump is all I need to cover my entire face. I like the packaging, especially the pump.
I'll update my review after I've used it for a few weeks, but I had to write now because I have never had a product show a result so quickly, like this one did.
UPDATE: i've been using it for a week and my face is almost entirely cleared up. I broke out a little the first couple of days (I think my skin was purging) but it cleared up very fast, much faster than usual. Works better than BP and much less irritating, too.

a good general t-zone blemish/oily skin manager. i would recommend trying this range if you're considering it. the pump tends to dispense a bit more than i need, use the left overs to spot check. will cause some peeling and works well to accelerate blemish healing. ease off in winter. one of my current staples

Love it. I've had acne for the past 10 years, sometimes severe, sometimes mild. Lately it's been SEVERE. So of course I try diet changes, drinking tons of water etc, blah.
This stuff works GREAT. Cystic acne? Goes down overnight.
Worth the money.

I've actually used the whole peter roth thomas acne kit, not just the gel. I have to say this product really has not been friendly. I used it for a couple of days, and my acne didn't really clear up. some of the zits got smaller, but i highly doubt it is a result of the cleansers. what the regimen DID do my skin though was cause it to become completely irritated and red. my whole face was the color of a beet! it was baaadddd. i would not reccomend buying this product, i suppose i might have sensitive skin, but i've used my share of acne products, and there hasn't been anything quite like this one.

It has the best of both worlds, BHA and AHA combined to fight acne. As much as I wanted this product to be the be all end all, my skin needed some professional help with prescriptions from the derm. But I think this is a wonderful product for people with mild acne to help increase cell turnover and to keep those pores nice and clean. The reason I took off a lippie is because it has a somewhat sticky texture that never quite goes away.

Just a bit of background on my skin. .I had been on two rounds of accutane, and skin started breaking out again. Needless to say, I had been on countless dermatologist prescribed topicals. I had been using the 10% alpha hydroxy lotion from acne.org, during the past 6 months, and then when summer hit, I started breaking out. Got a sample of this from sephora, and noticed the difference on the second day. Cystic, hormonal acne shrunk dramatically. I use this twice a day, and a little goes a long way. Obviously, I'm also watching my diet, too. .lots of fruits/veggies, and whole grains, nuts, no fast food, little processed food. Between the diet change, this product, and dermadoctor's sulfur mask, my skin's really clear. Just need to clear up the spots left over from previous acne.

This really works to clear up acne and keep my oily acne prone skin from breaking out. Also great for fading freckles, dark spots and acne marks. Has both AHA and BHA in it!! True it is nowhere near chep but one bottle will last for a very long time. Well worth the money!!
