I agree with what others have said about this liner in terms of it isn't the cheapest out there, but I really think it comes the closest to doing what it's suppose to. It's easy to blend with a brush (I use my Bobby Brown's eye liner gel brush), it's really soft (which comes in handy if you're lining the inside rim of your eye), and it stays in place (relatively). It's like using Indian Kohl liner only it doesn't smudge nearly as much (thank God!). To expect a liner to be soft, blendable when you want it to and stay in place when you want it to is a lot, but this liner comes the closest.
Eye makeup is hard to control because of your eye's natural oils. The oil gets caught in the eyelid crease (depending on the shape/type of eye and how much oil your body creates). My eyes create a lot of oil even though I have really dry skin. Knowing that, I use liquid liner on my top lid and blend out the line so it isn't so harsh, OR use Bobby Brown's eye liner gel and only use eyeliner pencil for the rim or lower lash, but sparingly. If your eye makeup is slipping around and smudging a lot, then maybe invest in blotting paper to get pick up the oil and keep your eyeliner and eyeshadow in place.

I was extremely disappointed by this product. I looked like Alice Cooper after about an hour. I even tried setting it with powder, but to no avail. The smudge factor is horrible, and it did not stay on my top lid. Ironically, it is difficult to remove, though, at the end of the day. I am definitely returning this.

I'm a big fan of BobbiBrown Eyeliner Gel but I get this Make Up For Ever eyeliner pencil from sephora deluxe sample so I gave it a try.
I'd say I'm pretty impressed with the product!
Color:-
I would give this eyeliner pencil a five for the really pigmented black. As much as I love BB sometimes it is hard to put it on as dark as I wish especially right after washing my face (and dried of course). There is no problem at all with this pencil. If you're worrying about color, it might be whether it is "too" dark because some people tend to not like a solid black eye line.
Easiness:-
The pencil slides on very easily. You can do it very easily without having to tug your delicate skin.
However, I do feel the pencil is a little too soft which can make a very fine line hard to draw.
It is definitely user friendly but if you're a beginner in doing makeup you probably need some good practise with this pencil.
Smudge:-
I don't see this eyeliner smudging as easily as other reviewers suggest but it is definitely not the most long lasting eyeliner you can get. If you are looking for a waterproof one (since summer is coming!) I'd still stick to BobbiBrown.
Overall:-
I would not have this for everday use, but because the black color does stand out I would use it when I am using dark color eyeshadows but do not wish the eyeline to stand out as much (for a dramatic look definitely go for a liquid eyeliner!).

I have to say that the price really bothers me. It is way too expensive but generally speaking, this is the best eye liner that I have ever used. I used to like MAC but once in a while, MAC bothers my eyes and it is not as pigmented as this one. You could do tight lining or apply it to your rims with no problem. My eyes are sensitive but this did not bother me at all. The color is very rich and great for Arabic or Middle-Eastern eye makeup.

Pretty darned good. I went for a run and when I came back I had some smudges, so it is not totally waterproof. It does not last on the waterline, but most liners don't. If this smudges, it can easily be swiped away with a tissue or clean finger.
I actually really like the line from this - smudges just enough, intense black. Just wish it stayed in place a little longer.
I used this yesterday with my Urban Decay Primer Potion. I had some issues with the consistency on the lower lashline - it will not apply evenly over the primer. It skipped and looked sort of like liquid liner that was flaking off. It did last, but the line wasn't so great.
Between the good consistency and the fact that this will outlast most pencils, this is a staple in my everyday bag.

This eyeliner stays on pretty good but smudges TOO easily. esp if its heavy on your bottom lid. I think $16 is worth it.

I've finally settled on Make Up Forever's Aqua Eyes liner in Matte Black #0L (black). This liner has received rave reviews and all kinds of beauty awards, so it was inevitable that I try it. It went on extremely smooth even over my eyeshadow - no tugging, no smearing - and really lasted all day with almost no smudging. I usually have some smudging under my eye from the top rim and there is none of that. I also applied some to the outer lower rim. It also gave a very precise line, which is hard to get with softer, cream-based liners. I think I will just go back to my roots and stick to this because it really doesn't look too dramatic for day at all. It also comes in a color called Star Black (#1L - a black sheen), which is another type I had been looking for. Unfortunately, I think it may go on too gray judging from my experience from other similar liners but perhaps I will give it a try. I wish this pencil came in a deep black/brown or other more "blackened" colors, but everything is rather bright (and mostly metallic). I'll have to see how it sharpens in the future....It's great overall though, and I think actually worth the price.

I love love love these eyeliners! They go on very smoothly, not pulling on lids during application at all. It's the first eyeliner pencil I've used that doesn't drag... They are a little bit on the pricey side (I have a hard time justifying $16 for one eyeliner pencil) but well worth the money. Great staying power! I would definitely buy again!

I’d given up on eye pencils for about a year since they always smeared midday on my oily eyelids (the lower liner would creep onto my undereye area and make a "teenage" smeary mess, and the upper line would end up transferring to the orbital bone above), no matter how much powder or primer I’d use to set it in place. I finally decided to give this brand a try. The formula goes on incredibly smooth and even, it didn't pull or hurt like other "long-wearing" pencils, but this has the best staying power I’ve found! A great surprise.
The Mat Black shade is a very true and deep black, not ashy, great for smoky and dramatic looks (I have dark brown eyes and very dark brown hair). I initially would use a little bit of BE Liner Shadow in Bark (very dark espresso) over the pencil, but I have also tried it without powder and it doesn't need it to maintain its staying power.
I will buy this again, and probably add some more colors. This is more expensive than I would like to spend, but since it does what it claims I'll bite the bullet and shell out the cash.

I really like this eyeliner because it goes on so smooth. Its very smudgeable, which would make it ideal for the smokey eye. I would like it a little more if it were an automatic eyeliner, because sharpening can be a pain, but that would be about my only concern. Its much softer than most other eyeliners I've tried, and way more convenient than potted eyeliners. Black eyeliner tends to be a staple to me, so I will probably be purchasing this a lot. A different eyeliner would be better for those who are worried about the smuding or tends to rub their eyes throughout the day.

So disappointed! I really wanted to like this product but it doesn't work at all. On my upper eye lid, it MIGHT have a bit more staying power than other eye liners (non waterproof ones), but not enough. It is horrible for lining the lower eyelid. Smudges like crazy!! The only plus is that it does glide on smoothly. Not worth it.

This is a good eyeliner. It glides on quite smoothly but between this and the MAC powerpoint engraved pencil, I would have to go with MAC because I find it lasts longer and glides on more "creamily" than MUF does.

I got this as a deluxe sample from Sephora and have almost used it all up. I like it as a base for my liquid eyeliner which I use most every day. It is also good for a smokey look. Be careful of using it on the lower rim because it does smudge easily when rubbed. It may be pricier than drugstore eyeliners but it is the smoothest I have ever used.

This seems to be the darkest & most opaque black eyeliner pencil I have found. It is not as long wearing as a gel formula eyeliner such as Fluidline, but if I am in a hurry this pencil is MUCH faster. Will definitely buy again, unless I lose my love of black eyeliner.

The price of this eyeliner is pretty steep, but its the best I've tried so far. The liner does smudge a bit on the bottom line, but only minimally, and way less than regular liners. It really has great lasting power. One of the drawbacks is the difficulty in the sharpening. I find that the formula is very soft, and the tip tends to beak easily when I try to sharpen it. Has anyone had the same problem? I know that Make Up Forever has its own sharpener and I was wondering if people had better luck with that one than a regular, generic liner sharpener. thanks.

I got this mini version as a gift w/my Beauty Insiders points at Sephora. I had a choice of a couple of things and when she mentioned black waterproof eyeliner I jumped at it. I really liked how easy it was to use and how black and deep the color is. I went to a B-day party that very night and when I got home it was still on as fresh as when I first put it on. This is a really good eyeliner b/c it's soft but yet firm enough to make a great line. BUT I still got the racoon eyes. I always carry a Q-Tip in my bag and had to use it to clean up the smudge I got on my eyes below the bottom lash line. Up until now I have not found an eyeliner that doesn't do that. This is actually a favorite but is no exception to the racoon eyes. So if anyone knows how to stop that from happening or can give me a tip on how to avoid that please let me know.

I was on the search for long lasting smudge proof liner and I tried this and it fit that description. It goes on easily and stays put until you are ready to take it off. However once in a while I do find that it will smudge but that's only if you use it to create a thicker line.
