Been using this for 20 years. I recently tried other cleansers because I have sensitive combo skin which is getting a bit drier and the blackheads and outbreaks never 100% clear up - however none of the cleansers I tried (including Lancome, clinique etc) compares to this for me. (I also tried the sensitive skin version and did not really see much difference.).
I find this cleanser works best if you follow massage it first into dry skin before adding water. If my skin is suffering a bit too much from blackheads or outbreaks I leave the cleanser on my skin a couple of minute before adding water. When my skin is red and sensitive I wet my skin first before applying the cleanser.
Although the range does not include a toner, I find water quite drying so I finish with a very mild toner, which I also find reduces the outbreaks (I like nuxe rose petal toner).

This has been my cleanser for years now. Abselutely love it. I've got dry skin, and I also get a lot of impurities and spots. Very annoying! Either way, I started using this and it helped a lot. It just makes my skin overall more radiant and clear. It's the only thing I use for my skin :) As soon as I tried changing (even to other good brands - like Dermalogica) I start breaking out again and get uneven skin color. I would recomend this to anyone who struggles with spots or uneven skin tone! :)

I used to use MD Forumation skin care products, I used to have MD Formulation skin facials monthly and my skin used to break out so badly. My acne would be bright red, I was covered in superficial scars. (The beautician would always make excuses, blaming it all on my skin).
I started using Simple and it saved my skin. I decided to use this cleanser again after my skin cleared up and this cleanser started to agree with my skin.
I apply it to my skin (whilst dry). Massage it with a bit of warm water to make it thicker then I use a warm/hot flannel over my face to open the pores and to gently rub it off, then I rinse it off with warm water. Finally I splash cold water on my face.
I don't use any other MD Formulation products anymore.
People with sensitive skin will find this will irritate their skin.

I hate that I LOVE this product....It is so expensive, but I justify it by saying that I am caring for my skin at the basic level rather than splurging on expensive foundation that only disguises problem skin rather than addressing it, which is what this does.
Mine was $92 NZD from a shop here but you may find it cheaper to purchase online.
I have acne prone skin that tends to be dry and oily on different areas of my face (generally dry areas are where I have attacked my acne with drying acne products). I also wear a lot of make up so I actually have lots of little bumps (not pimples, but skin colored) protrusions that show through my make up. I have been using this for a week, and unlike most cleansers that either clean too well (leaving skin dry) or not cleaning enough (making skin too oily/dirty feeling), this doesn't give either feeling, which is surprising as it also acts as an exfoliant with glycolic compound as one of its main ingredients.
After a week of use, it has not flared up my acne (somehow my acne seems less angry, but I am reluctant to say that this has much to do with it). My non-pimple bumps under the skin have reduced in size and number. Also my skin feels super soft... Try applying to one half of the face and see what I mean.
For those reviewers who haven't been taken with this product, you are probably doing something wrong... Take your make up off first and then using your fingers apply on dry skin...Leave for 2 minutes and then rinse off using either water or sponge (I prefer my dermalogica "the cloth"). After cleansing, I apply my priori eye cream and avst moisturiser...Both of which I highly recommend.
Packaging is not that great, I prefer pump dispenser rather than pour but oh well!!

HG cleanser, I will never ever ever ever stray ever again.
Excellent for problem skin that needs a little extra help to keep clear. My skin is SO MUCH WORSE when I am using a different cleanser. This is seriously amazing. It is very expensive, especially here in Australia ($85, ridiculous) but I get it online and it's worth every penny anyway. The bottle is massive and lasts a long time.
It is gently exfoliating, doesn't sting despite the glycolic acid, removes makeup pretty well - although I would recommend using a makeup remover first, as with any cleanser.
Amazing!

Cleansers are so hard to rate "good" or "bad" because it depends so much on your skin, what works for you.. But I can tell you about my experiene:
So a dermatologist recommended me MD formulation series because it helps will skin renewal, because of the acids. It helped me with clearing up my skin from acne, even though it's not a "acne-treatment" by defenition. No other cleanser has really done the job this one does for me. I'm not a fan of salicylic acid or benzoperoxide, but the acids in this cleanser works with exfoliating the skin in a non-rubbing way (which is BAD if you have acne, could spread the bacteria..) which is making the skin "thinner" and taking away the dead skin cells + oils + dirts + bacterias that causes clogged pores and acne.
I even uses this cleanser as a mask. Just leaving it on for as long as I can. Maybe my skin is used to the acids, but the skin doesn't feel irritated or causing redness afterwards, like other acne-cleansers does. For me..
I love this cleanser and everytime a bottle runs out, I always think I'm gonna find something else to save my poor wallet (it's kind of pricey..) but I never do :) I <3 this!

I have combination skin that can go either really dry or break out if my cleanser is too harsh or ineffective. For me this cleanser works really well, I usually don't wear any makeup during the day and it cleanses without stripping the skin. It's mild yet efficient and I've had less break outs since I started using it.

EDIT 2 WEEKS LATER: My skin started to get very irritated from this cleanser, probably it was too much to use everyday for me. I started breaking out in small zits and also cystic acne. I stopped using this for 4 days and things mostly went back to normal. The cystic acne that was forming halfway also went away.
This is probably a good choice if your skin can handle it. I now use it to wash my arms for my kp and it's gotten the bumps smaller.
________________________________
I really really realllllly like this. The glycolic compound makes me feel like I'm cleansing my skin really well and prevents clogged pores. It kind of "surfaces" all the sebum clogs and I can easily remove them by using a washcloth, exfoliating pad, or scrub.
It's not harsh at all, even when applied to dry skin.
I apply this to dry skin, massage it around for 1-2min, add some water and massage somemore, then remove by rinsing or with a washcloth.
My skin feels so soft and clean without the tight and dry feeling. And I do tend to get dry patches sometimes.
I also use this on my arms which have KP and this has helped clear up some of it. I just leave it on dry skin for 3-4min, massaging it around and then use a exfoliating pad to remove it. I think the bumps have gotten significantly smaller and the whole area feels quite a bit smoother.
Also, I find that after using this cleanser for a week or so, my skin is more balanced and normal rather than combi. Like my nose won't be so oily and my cheeks/around my mouth won't be so flakey and dry feeling.
It is really not that pricey considering the amount of product you get. This can easily last me 4 months. Where I live, it's 250ml for about $50 and LRP cleansers are $20-30 for 125-150ml. It works out to be about the same!
It does burn when it gets into the eyes, so definitely not a makeup remover. But you're supposed to remove makeup before cleansing anyway.

I have only just started using this cleanser but I just want to say right now after reading these reviews.. PEOPLE THIS IS NOT A MAKE-UP REMOVER!! You must remove your make-up first to get a result from this product or any cleanser for that fact! Facial cleansers and make-up removers are different things! Think about trying to polish a dirty shoe or something, you can't just whack on the shoe polish and rub it in, you must wipe away the dirt and dust first (make-up) and then apply the polish (cleanser/exfoliater) for it to be absorbed into the leather (skin/pores)..I hope that helps haha
And I am aware that this product says it removes make-up, but really if you know anything about skincare you should double cleanse at the very least if you are not going to use a make-up remover..I just hate to think about the number of people out there using products incorrectly and thinking they wasted their money!

I have bought a few bottles of these and have used it for about a year.
Firstly, the bottle contains 250ml of product - for a single person this could last you up to 6 months or even more, when using it twice a day.
The product is about 18.00+ in the UK which is pretty expensive compared with high street brands such a clean and clear, neutrogena etc.
BUT it's worth it!!
I am 15, and get spots all the time, little red bumps on my forehead mainly. This facial cleanser has helped to clear it up as well as helps keep my skin suuuuper smooth.
It uses acids and alcohol and is definitely not a 'natural product', as it's designed to help clear up problematic skin.
So.. definitely look into this product. They have a wide range such as products for oily skin, anti-ageing, dry, moisturisers...

This is a great cleanser! This has been my regular cleanser for two years now, and I love it! It keeps my breakouts under control, and it doesn't dry my skin. My skin looks fresh and clear after use. The only "negative" about this cleanser, is that it comes a little bit short to remove makeup. You have to use it twice - or use a makeup remover if you wear any foundation. I would also not recommend this for the delicate skin in the eye area.

I recently received this cleanser from a friend and wow...instant love. I tend to stay away from higher end brands for fear of getting addicted to lines that I know my budget can't handle, however my new theory is that I need to start buying the best I can afford - even if it means cutting back on other things. It's my skin I'm dealing with here and it deserves the best care that I can afford.
I cannot believe how well this works - and how quickly. My skin is all over the board; aging/acne prone/sensitive. My goal is to keep it clean and moisturized without any breakouts. Wrinkles and the like are secondary to me because my skin is just so sensitive. But this cleanser does what is says...I'm no expert, but the glycolic compound in it works fast and wonders.
This from the website: Benefits:
•Revolutionary glycolic compound serves as a natural exfoliant to gently remove dulling skin cells that contribute to dry skin and clogged pores
•Only a dime-sized amount produces an ideal light lather
Sounds good right? I just didnt expect it to work so well, AND without irritating my skin. It's almost like a liquid vacuum cleaner on the skin, it literally sweeps away clogs, oil, makeup, sweat, all of it. I cannot wait to try it with my Clarisonic. This absolutely left my skin cleaner and brighter and I find that I really don't need it every night. It's that heavy duty! But it's not irritating at all. Wow. Instant love, will purchase again and again.

I felt like I was washing my face with lotion; no foaming and my skin did not feel clean afterwards. Like I said, I felt like I'd just rinsed my face with lotion instead of a cleanser. I tried it out for a month thinking that maybe I just needed to give it a chance, but no go. It didn't do anything exceptional for my skin and it was clogging up my pores.
Pass

It's fine if I don't have any makeup on. It sucks at cleaning off the makeup, though.

I have been using MD for about 3months now because I have mild adult acne and it promised to clear and renew my skin, in the beginning I did notice a smoother complexion and less spots on my forehead but until recently I started breaking out on both side of my face (both cheeks) which i rarely broke out, although my acne on my chin has cleared but those on my cheeks are big, red, swollen and take agggeesss to clear down. I am disappointed with this product and will probably not buy it again.

Buy it! I love this product, I have used it for years (as has my Mum), and my once acne prone skin hardly ever breaks out now. I always get loads of compliments on my 'glowing' and clear skin. It leaves your skin super smooth and glowing after a couple of weeks. If I stop using it, I always break out again. Believe me, I have tried a lot, including meds for my skin and this is the only thing that has ever worked. It's not just for acne skin though, it makes all skin type look fab. Make sure you use a sunscreen with it.

I used to think that you can skimp on cleansers - as they are only on your face for such a short time. I was wrong. This is truly the best cleanser I have tried - going deep into your pores and clearing out your skin. The result - soft glowing skin... a smooth canvas to apply makeup or skincare products. A definate must have!!

My skin has been very clear for most of my life...until about a month ago. I was getting stress related cystic break out on my chin and jaw line. I bought some MD Cleanser to treat the break out. The first week that I used it, my skin was worse around my chin and jaw but really clear everywhere else. It took two weeks for the breakout to clear but now I think I have less conjestion and my skin is really smooth. It is expensive but you only need to use a 20c piece size of cleanser.
