I am a bit torn with this product. I wanted to switch my Bobbi Brown gel liner because I was very disappointed with it, and I ended up buying Stila. I really like Stila in general because they've got good quality products and they're cruelty free.
There's quite a lot of product and the price isn't too bad. The pigmentation is very good as well. There are two things that bothered me though: It dried out faster than Bobbi Brown and it smudges really easily. I now this product is called the smudge pot but I still didn't expect it to smudge so easily! So I have to say it's not very long lasting. Especially when the product has dried out it won't apply and just kinda flakes onto my cheeks.
This does not stand a chance in lasting power compared to my new gel liner from Etude House. Would probably not purchase again I'm afraid :(

I'm so happy I found this. It's dark and matte. It applies like a dream. I've had it on for 7 hours with no transfer to the upper lid or smearing. I know some people say this dries out fast. I've traditionally had pretty good luck with gel/cream liners because I don't use them every day. So, hopefully this will last a while before it needs to be thrown out.

This is a P.O.S!!! I wanted it so badly when other (drugstore) versions weren't available, and I got it as a gift. It was only ok at first because I had to use a crappy free Sephora liner brush because it didn't come with one and I didn't have one at the time. I vaguely remember the line being dark enough but I can't recall how precise it was since the brush situation, but what I DO remember is how it dried out before I was halfway through and I had to throw it out!!!! I do remember being able to use it in the water line which is great but you can do that with all the cheaper versions that at least come with a semi-decent brush. Waste, don't bother.

This is my second smudge pot (I got my first one at least 3 years ago and it lasted for a while because I used it sparingly). And did they change the formula or something??? I was so impressed with my first one and then I get this one and the quality is comparable to drug store eyeliner. It's a crumbly, dry mess. I can't even go over my eyelid twice or the sheer dryness of the eyeliner will actually ERASE the first layer that I drew on. The only way this eyeliner is manageable is if I add some lotion to it and swirl is around, but if I'm paying $20 for damn eyeliner it better already be "lotion" quality. I will not be purchasing this again :(

Terrible product. Doesn't adhere. I had to use another eyeliner on top of it. If I use it, it takes me longer to do my makeup in the morning because you just have to keep reapplying it. Also not dark enough. But the biggest problem is that it just doesn't stick.

I really love this eyeliner. I have oily Asian eyelids and it took me forever to find an eyeliner that wouldn't smudge on me! I've been using it for around two years now and I absolutely love it. Every time I try a different eyeliner, it just doesn't work as well as this one so it keeps me coming back! It does flake just a bit though, but that doesn't bother me. Really good lasting power.
TIP: Seems people have been complaining about how it dries out quickly. Same thing happened with me with my first smudge pot. I learned that if you really close the lid TIGHTLY, it won't dry up! I've been using my current smudge pot for about 7 months now and it's still great. Just don't forget to put the lid on or it will definitely dry up to the point where it's un-useable (happened to me! :( )

This is the best cream eyeliner I have used besides ELF. My only issue with this is it's not for people with watery eyes. It definitely smudges. However, a little goes a LONG way so it's definitely worth the price.

This eyeliner works wonderfully. It doesn't smudge, slides on smoothly, and is very black. However its greatest con is that is dries out within months. I tried using a blow dryer to warm it up but it was useless. $20 for a jar of eyeliner that lasts for 5 months tops? No thanks. I also found there was residual glue on the lid, it was aggravating to deal with.

This sadly did not work how I wanted it to :( I'm currently in search for a gel eyeliner that makes winged liner, etc. easier and also stays on all day. I finished my Milani Eye Tech eyeliner pen and decided to try this because I had some $$ at Sephora and heard many great things about it. It was very creamy and easy to apply with my Sonia Kashuk Bent Eyeliner Brush- you need a very small amount of product to get a nice, defined, easily blended brush. However, when I tried to use it with a small wing past the corners of my eyes, I found that the wings did not last until the end of my day! I'll most likely use this up just because of the price and its very good pigmentation, but it looks like I'll have to wait a little longer to experiment more with liner! Oh well.

I have oily lids so it is hard for me to find a gel liner that will not smudge. I really wanted to love the fluidliner since it is pigmented and glides on smoothly/effortlessly. As for this smudgepot I have to admit that it really does stay on my oily lids (maybe a little transfer on my lower lid but not as much as the fluidliner)! The only downside is that it doesn't glide on so well like the fluidliner and it isn't pigmented. The black is more of a faded black, so I guess it gives me a softer look (I prefer my liner to be intense black).
I do agree w/ everyone else that the smudgepot does dry out quickly, which is another downside. I will probably buy this again just b/c this is the only cream/gel liner that stays on my oily Asian lids. But if I do find a better one I will switch..

Best eyeliner I've tried! I have oily eyelids, and nearly everything smudges like crazy, but this stays put all day and is easy to apply. Like others have said, it does dry out fairly quickly, but that hasn't stopped me from using it. Highly recommended. :)

I was pretty disappointed in this product. I ordered it from Amazon & managed to return it there without any problem, thankfully.
Why was this disappointing? The product was very dry from the first time I used it. I'm unsure if it is an old one, but it was brand new to me. I had to swirl my brush around like crazy to get some product onto the brush which tugged on my lid while I applied it. It was virtually impossible to apply it smoothly like I would with ELF or WnW's cream liners. I do give it two lippies for the fact that it lasted on my oily lids, but that's all that stood out for me. The $20 price tag does not reflect quality in this product. I'll stick to my WnW cream liner.

LOVE. Gives the look of liquid eyeliner, in literally 1/4 of the time. I just recently bought this, but I can see it lasting a very long time because of how little I need. You don't need an extremely steady hand either, in my opinion. Looks cleaner and more formal than pencil liner, but not as severe as liquid liner. One swipe is all you need, its amazing and sultry. Definitely recommend.

I have used smudge pots in black for the past 2 years. They are one of the best gel eyeliners I have ever tried. I usually put Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer potion on first and then the Stila eyeliner and it doesn't usually budge until I take it off. If I apply the eyeliner extremely heavy, by the end of the night it will have smudged a little onto my lower lashes. But for regular use, it wears great. It is more of a matte formula then a shiny liquid look.
Like others have mentioned, the pots do eventually dry out. If you warm up the pot with your finger and a touch of water, it will moisten up a bit. Each pot usually lasts me about 1 year before I have to get rid of it. I use it with an angle brush. As far as the eyeliner flaking, the eyeliner gets dry in spots in the pot and sometimes forms little balls. You just have to clean them out of the pot and the formula that is left will not flake. It's just the surface of the eyeliner drying on top that forms those flakes I've noticed. Once I did this, I never had any problems with the eyeliner flaking. I highly recommend this eyeliner!

This eyeliner is excellent for the first month or so. Like everyone else said, it will dry up on you pretty quickly. I found that MUFE waterproof
Black cream eyeshadow works much better for me.

I've been using this product for over five years. It's the only gel eye liner that lasts forever (both in daily application and in general--it's a huge pot). The price is fantastic considering some brands sell half of the product for the same price. I can't imagine ever not using this as my go-to eye liner.

This is a good product...for about a month. I bought it after a Sephora rep raved, and I liked it at first. But then I started noticing that it was harder to put on smoothly, and in a matter of weeks the whole pot had dried up pretty badly. I could still get it onto my angled brush, but it would flake off easily and flecks would get in my eyes.
I read up to see that this was a common problem, and tried using water, which helped a little but not much. I also wet a Q-tip, scraped off the top layer, and was able to use the smudge pot for two or three more times until it dried out again.
If I could use the whole pot, I'd be satisfied with the product and the price. Since I only used about 10% of it before it became useless, I won't be rebuying. I'm using a Beautymaker gel eyeliner that I got from an Asian makeup store and it's fantastic. I'm also going to try MAC fluidline, since I hear it doesn't have the drying problem that the smudge pot does.

This is my HG eyeliner!!! Let me start off by saying I have pretty oily eyelids and most eyeliners I have used in the past tend to end up all over the place by the end of the day. Because of this, before the Stila Smudge Pot, I didn't really wear eyeliner often (despite the fact that I really do need it). I have been using this for about half a year now, and I am barely halfway through the pot... and I wear this every single day. So if you're balking at the price, a little goes quite a long way because this eyeliner truly lasts! Additionally, I've checked out comparable eyeliners from Mac and Bobbi Brown, but this one wins by far in terms of packaging too.

They need to reformulate this product.
It applies nice, it's not as creamy as I like it to be but that's not what I'm not liking.
What I do not like about this product is that it CRUST as I'm taking off my lashes at the end of my night. It HURTS, the liner PEELS my eyelid with it. I never have a problem taking off my lashes, if anything it normally feels good and a relief that's my eyes can rest.
Nope, not this one. :( Oh well, I'll stick to Fluidline & bobbi brown gel liner
