One of my best purchases ever. Can be worn alone, lightly all over lid and built up into crease for a super-simple taupe eye; great medium base shade for a fuller smoky look; great crease shade for a subtle daytime/"natural" matte eye. Depending on the shades I pair with Copperplate, it can look more grey or more brown.

The Matte2 formula is smoother and more blendable than the original Mattes. I almost always prime with MAC Paint when I use powder eyeshadows, but this lasts quite well even without.

I've never, ever been a fan of taupes! This included. Taupes and greys simply register as ill-fitting on my eyelids. Fantastic under my cheekbones though.

However, other than the usage of this on the eyebrows, I've never found a way to use this on the eyelids. Only until recently, thanks to NikkieTutorials on youtube!

I now mix this with a warmer matte such as MAC Kid or Wedged to create a lovely neutral on the eyelid crease and even for a nose contour (That I have never been able to achieve before!)

Hoping I can find a combination in a single form, but at least I now have a use for my very ignored copperplate.

That being noted, matte2 is still my favourite formula. Never fails to be buttery and pigmented.

Wow, what a stunningly beautiful color! I am NC20, asian and to be honest I don't like eyeshadows because most of the time it looks too made up, or it screams "look at my eyeshadow" instead of look at my eyes. I don't really like shimmery colors in general because of this.

Copperplate, I would describe it as a true shadow color. Like a color of a shadow. Being Asian, I need more depth and dimension in my eyes, and when I put this on my crease it adds instant depth, without drawing attention to the eyeshadow color, it draws attention to my eyes.

I model as well and this looks great in photography. Highly recommended as a crease color. All over the lid may look a bit sallow, but that is just an opinion.

This is a great warm grey colour and looks great on all skin tones. I think that this is definately a staple colour that everybody should have. I love to use this colour to lightly contour the eye and then weat a red lip! love this colour if you don't have it you must buy it.

About me: NW13 (neutral-cool toned, very fair), blue eyes, Color season is True Summer, Baumann Skin Type is OSPW.

I love using Copperplate as a cool toned crease color for my day time eye shadow looks, especially with brown and purple lid colors. It makes a gorgeous crease for MAC's Satellite Dreams. Highly recommend as a MAC must!

Copperplate. Matte. Dirty grey with a hint of brown, Mid-tone.
When do I reach for it? Everyday. This is great for crease and beyond areas. Great for cooling warm looks. Great blending color. I love it.

Copperplate is a lovely shadow, a matte grey with slight lavender undertones (it's not coppery whatsoever). It's the matte 2 formula, so it's softer and easier to blend than the matte 1 (which can seem really "hard"). I'm NC25 with hazel eyes. My favorite current look is Arena (a peachy apricot satin) on the lid with Copperplate blended in the crease, outer V,and under the eye. So gorgeous, understated and soft yet unique looking. I will definately repurchase.

Oh Copperplate how I love thee!! It is a subtle matte2 grey that looks gorgeous in the crease. My favorite way to wear it is jest on the lid, copperplate in the crease and vanilla to highlight. It is such a soft, pretty look.

Really a lovely subtle color. Its all been said before. I would have happily worn it daily.

The purpose of me adding my review is just a FYI for if you have sensitivity (allergy) to red pigment in eye shadow. This pretty gray brown has just enough purple (hence the red) to slowly cause me to build up sensitivity to it. It didn't happen at first, but after a few weeks of wearing it daily, my eyes started to get itchy and lids red. I stopped before I got to the flaky crusty stage which was sure to come next. I've never been able to wear most lavender/plum/purple and also some brown eye shadows, and sadly, copperplate has joined the ranks of those I can't tolerate.

I think I could wear it occasionally, but once sensitized, I know from past experience that I need to give it a nice long break, So sad.

Copperplate didn't gain much love from me at first. I bought it, tested and ignored it for months. Now that summer is over I'm in the mood for a not-so-colorful but not brown eye make up for daytime. Here comes copperplate to save the day. I have green eyes and blue hued grays are not pretty on me IMO. But copperplate is so incredibly balanced! Halfway between gray and taupe, quite uncommon. So, that's ''the one'' for an alternative daytime smokey eye. Can still played up or toned down for day or night. Great quality too- it's almost cliche but well... it's a matte2 eyeshadow, no need for more praises!

I wanted to love this color, but i think its too cool for me (nc35) it makes me look tired and it makes my undereye circles more pronounced. I tried it as a brow powder and it was too light ( black hair). Ive seen it look amqzing on others lighter and darker than me, it sucks we didnt get along Copperplate! :(

Copperplate is a warm taupey gray with a hint of lavender. It's a very versatile color and can be worn in so many ways. Applied lightly, it can be a wash of color or it can be a great crease color. Applied heavier, it's a great powder liner. Like other reviewers, I have used it for my brows, but I have to use a light touch for this. The formula is a Matte2, which means the texture is superb and blending is a breeze. This is one of my favorite MAC eyeshadows.

I bought Copperplate to be used as a crease color or smokey eye, but I was so disappointed because when I wear it, it looks like someone punched me in the eye. It's probably cause my skintone is not suited to this color (NC20ish, but more yellow), or it just reminds me too much of the color of my skin when I get bruises. It was such a shame cause the texture was quite lovely. Very smooth and not crumbly at all.

And then one day, I saw a lovely lady on Youtube, with similar skin color use Copperplate on her brows. I immediately whipped it out and VOILA! I LOVE it for my brows. It is the perfect shade! It has become one of my favorites and I have hit pan on this! I am thinking of purchasing backups of this :)

I love this color! It is a nice MATTE grey color that is so hard to find these days. It does have a bit of brown to it though. I wear it with Blanc Type from lashline to eyebrow with Copperplate blended up from the crease. I use a smoke grey eyeliner on upper and lower lid and I get a subtle daytime look. I love that it is not too dark of a color and blends well. I find that it wears much better and is a tad darker with a lid primer first.

I love copperplate. i would describe it as a medium gray. I don't see the taupe as I have read in other reviews. It's a go-to daytime crease color for me. Even tho my coloring is more warm-toned, I like cool tones on my eyes. This e/s blends like a dream. I also use this for my eyebrows. I have gray hair now but my eyebrows are still dark brown and I find this helps to change the color of my eyebrows ever so slightly to better match my hair. Just recently started a MAC collection and Makeup Alley has really helped me with my selections. Thanks everyone!

I bought this eyeshadow over a year ago to use in my crease. I used it a few times and was quite underwhelmed. It is nice but i have lots of other shades that i much prefer and I just didn't find myself reaching for Copperplate very often. For that reason it sat at the bottom of my eyeshadow collection for quite a while.

Recently I came across it and decided to use it on my brows, and I love it. I have very dark brown hair and have tried all sorts of different shades of eyeshadow and eyeliner pencil to fill in my brows but i have never been completely happy until now. This fills in the gaps in my brows nicely and is completely undetectable. I am left with beautifully shaped, natural looking brows. For people of similar colouring to me (MAC NC20, dark brown hair) i cannot recommend this highly enough as a brow product.

This is a matte2, and not the greatest, but certainly not the worst of the Mac formulas. People either hate or love Mac e/s's, but they forget there are so many formulas, the best being veluxe, Pro Longwear and even frost, which is highly pigmented and a sheen. Anyway, I replaced Handwritten with Veluxe Brown Down, and it is superior. Really the same color but much better formula and a little less red in the brown. This is just too grainy and hard to get out of the pan.
