I 100% agree with everything the poster below said about these soaps. It was love at first try with these Nubian soaps. It's magic in a bar. The quality is outstanding and the smells are out of this world. It leaves my skin really feeling great, I can't explain how they do it, but this is unlike any soap I have ever tried. The Indian Hemp with Haitian Vetiver is my favorite line. Where have these Nubian products been all my life!!! I'm hooked for life!!!!

These are the BEST bar soaps on the market. I have tried every one they have and they are all amazing. They're buttery on the skin and smell lovely!
Don't you hate when bar soaps get all gross and dry out after a couple of uses? They have cracks, break apart, and lose their scent. Or maybe they just melt EVERYWHERE. It's nasty! These DON'T! They stay just like you opened it until it's gone! (They just get smaller! :D) I have never used up a WHOLE bar soap until now.
I don't know how this company does it, but they are doing something right! Every review on here (so far) is a 100%, because they are!
I even use the little chips of my almost depleted soaps, that are hard to hold in the shower, to clean my makeup brushes. I will probably NEVER purchase bar soaps from another company. I'm in love with these :D
Edit 5/13/13. I tried the peppermint bar, and this is the only bar from all of the ones they make I am not in love with. It smells more like licorice than peppermint, and the almond in it is too harsh, imo. I was hoping, this being peppermint, that it would have a cooling sensation (for my very sensitive legs after shaving), and it didn't.

I have discovered this brand and happy about it! They make excellent body wash (though with quite strong scents, but good natural scents). They are milder than any mass market shower gel, not too liquid, do not dry out your skin as shower gels and are a real pleasure to use. They add natural oils to their body wash and lotions, and I like this combination! They mix best natural moisturizing oils, which are more convenient to use than a pure oil and packaging is simple but convenient. I am buying it on iherb because can't find it another seller shipping to Europe. They are quite affordable and I am going to try all the versions :) I especially like the smell of black seed version.

I use quite some time nubian heritage Honey & Black Seed soap. It's lovely, smells good, moisturizes. It's not so expensive as mentioned above, I buy it online cheaper, but I don't know whether I'm allowed to say where...

Awesome soaps! And you don't have to be black to use Nubian! ;-) Seriously, with that name I first assumed they were only for African American skin...but not so! For the past several years I have used mostly Dr. Bronner's liquid soaps, which I like fine, but I was looking for a change. I tried the Goat's Milk Chai first, and it was so wonderful that I went out and got the Honey & Black Seed, then the Carrot & Pomegranate. I think they were kind of pricey for soap, maybe $5-6 per bar, BUT they are lasting a long time. Highly recommended.

This review is for Nubian Heritage's african black soap. As someone who uses and is accustomed to Lush's soaps, I don't mind soaps that are in their raw form despite their sometimes messy nature. However, when I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was in bar form. Not only is this less messy, but it also means its not prone to melting in the shower. Another thing is that this soap lathers like crazy, so no loofah is needed, but I use one anyway! The scent is very light and sweet. At first, to me, the soap smelled kind of like licorice. Even though I hate licorice and everything about it, I still managed to find the soap pleasant smelling. As time passed, I guess I can say the soap smells a bit more cocoa butter than licorice--either way, its a good scent. While this may not be raw african black soap, it sure does it job--it combats pesky hormonal breakouts and is starting to help correct the tone and texture of my skin!

I only use handmade soaps that I typically get on fairs or little gift shops as they are so much better and gentler to your skin that anything you can buy. I gave these soaps a try after reading their ingredients, which are mostly just shea butter and some other butters and oils, and thought it may give the same results as my homemade soaps. And it does. Great for the skin. Very mild and gentle. Nice lather too. Definite repurchase. Great price on vitacost as well.

Can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review for this. Some background: other than Dr. Bronner's liquid soaps (which I love) I only ever use bar soap. I used to have bad bacne, and any sort of "moisturizing" body wash would break me out really bad or never left me feeling really clean. But unfortunately using normal bar soap you trade feeling clean with drying out your skin at the same time. I feel like I've used every bar soap on the face of the earth by now, and this brand of bar soaps is easily the best I've ever tried. Firstly, the ingredients are all-natural so I don't have to worry about sulfates or parabens. Secondly, it's unique in that I feel 100% clean but I don't feel 100% dried out like I do with other bar soaps. I was actually shocked because it's the perfect balance of cleansing and moisturizing, which I've never come across before. It doesn't break me out like olive oil soap, every single one of these soaps smells absolutely amazing, and they're only $3.49 a pop at my local Duane Reade. My HG, I don't have any desire to ever use anything else. Probably the most satisfied I've ever been with any kind of product! Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone.

I tried the Lemongrass & Tea Tree Soap and love it! It smells sooo nice and is not drying at all. I am going to try some of their different scents :)

A friend of mine turned me on to these soaps and I'm so glad she did. I am currently using the Honey and Black Seed soap and it is amazing at keeping oily skin at bay. The bar also has tiny black seeds that are perfect for exfoliating but they are not too rough. I also tried the Peppermint and Aloe and it lathered very well and was very moisturizing. These are great soaps.

I'm completely addicted to these soaps. I've used the Olive Butter, Shea Butter, African Black Soap, Goat's Milk and Chai, Hemp and Vetiver, and Coconut soaps and they are all are amazing. One caution to anyone with acne-prone skin: some of these have coconut oil as a base and may clog pores, so keep away from areas prone to breaking out. The Goat's Milk and Chai and Shea Butter ones are my favorite. Love them so much I bought my roommate a whole box of them for Christmas. Highly recommended.

I'm a new "convert" to Nubian Heritage. I say "convert" because after using their Black Seed & Honey soap and lotion and their Butter Body Wash - I have no intention of ever trying anything outside of the Nubian Heritage line ever again. And I have tried *everything*. Go ahead, check my reviews. I'll wait.....
Ok, I've tried EVERYTHING, and NOTHING works like these products! The bar soap and bodywash both leave skin feeling soft, smoooooth, and healthy. I don't know if they're "moisturizing" per se as they don't leave a slimy film, but they don't strip my skin or make it feel tight, dry, and itchy either. They all smell WONDERFUL, and the scent lasts all day if you use the lotion. They're also affordable as I got 1 bar soap for $3 and could have gotten 2 for $5, but hadn't tried them yet. Now that I know I will stock up and try every flavour. This is the best line I have ever used. It's amazing. Will repurchase and recommend forever!!!
Unless they do that corny "Carols Daughter" thing and change the ingredients. And they better not. >:-(
200 lippies!!!

Lavender & Wildflower: I started out using this on my body, but eventually I had to use it as a hand soap only since it gave me an itchy rash. This is not an uncommon occurrence for me where lavender EO is concerned, so I don't think it's a bad product. As a hand soap it works great to remove all kinds of stinky gunk (the other night I was chopping up raw lamb, which left my hands stinking and greasy - this washed it right off!). Ivorian Cocoa Butter w/ Chocolate & Hazelnut: This is a very strong dark chocolate scent. I thought I would like it since I generally like stuff with cocoa in it, but this just isn't to my liking. My little sister loves it though, and since she can rarely use "fun" soaps and body washes because her skin is also very sensitive I will keep a few bars around for her use. As a soap it cleans well, and like the Black Seed soap it doesn't strip my skin, but doesn't add any moisture either.

I got the Lemongrass and Tea Tree Oil soap--think it's a new one. Anyhow, it smells AMAZING! Also, the tea tree oil works well on my breakouts and there's not that awful tea tree scent in this-- the lemongrass is stronger. There is also a bit of orange peel in the bar, but it's not on the surface, so you'll need a separate exfoliant.

Awesome, awesome, awesome soaps. My current favorite is the Black Seed soap, which smells great and helps heal skin irritations/cat scratches to boot, but of course that is subject to change (my last favorite of all time was the carrot/pomegranate, and I feel a distinct raw shea butter mood coming on). I like Nubian Heritage so much more than Lush or other high-end bath supplies, and these cost about half as much, even up to 1/3 as much.

The Raw Shea with Frankincense and Myrrh is my heaven. The smell is strong on the bar -- a sweet, clean, surprisingly light fragrance -- that just barely lingers on the skin. The lather is dense and rich and SO SOOTHING. I've got very sensitive skin and most body washes / lotions tend to make it at least a little itchy (overlook-able, but even so), this does not. I get out of the shower with nicely hydrated, TOTALLY CLEAN skin -- no "moisturizing" residue -- feeling . . . comfortable! And the smell of the bar in the shower just fills my barthroom with the most wonderful clean scent. I love this. HG, all the way. Will def. repurchase.

My recent find is the black seed honey soap . It is a nice honey colored opague bar. It leaves my skin soft and moisturized . It has an addictive clean smell and is great for anyone with dry skin . It has little seeds in it that are really tiny and help to gently exfoliate your skin . It has good quality ingredients and is a nice beauty treatment as well as a great cleanser. cathy from ma.

These soaps lather so darn much it's like you're using expensive body wash. They smell good too. Supposed to be natural based on the ingredients. I got the African Black soap which I purchased for my face. It cleanses pretty well, but if you use a whte wash cloth it will be black. It leaves my skin squeaky clean will update as far as breakouts are concerned. The Green tea andavocado soap smells clean also very moisturizing. All the soaps have the herbs and leaves in them for exfoliation. I don't see how everyone cannot find these. They're in every Asian or African Beauty supply store.UPDATE: The green te soap is quite dryng and the black soap burns like hell if left on too long

I recently discovered this line of soaps. I have used the Black Soap and the Raw Shea Butter w/ Lavender and Wildflowers. I have to say that most soaps I use dry my back out something fierce, with this soap that hasn't been an issue. My skin is smooth and soft, even though I still use a moisturizer after bathing. I also love the fact that this soap leaves you feeling clean (unlike Dove and Olay bars). I love this soap and will continue using it. My next bar to try is the Body Butter. It's in the bathroom calling my name! Thanks for reading and get some of this bar-gold.
