Very rarely does a product completely DESTROY healthy hair in one use. This was a disaster product for me.
In one use, overnight, it took my glossy, healthy, shiny hair and completely fried it. It looked dry, crunchy and completely unmanageable. It took a week and a half of deep conditioning to get it back to normal.
I used exactly as directed-- I washed and conditioned as normal and put it in damp hair, combed it through. The next morning I curled my hair.
I'm a reporter and the morning after I used this I actually got 2 viewer emails asking what happened to my hair. Clearly, I wasn't the only one who noticed.
Awful, awful, awful.

I bought this product mostly as a heat protectant. I loved the way the mousse pumped out onto my hands, very smooth. Ive treid it for two days already, and will continue to use it. But as of now, this is not a product I would buy again. After using it, the ends of my hair were left extremely dry and damaged. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

I would prefer to never be without this mousse again. It says it protects against heat. I hope that is true as it is one of the reasons that I love it. It gives volume too- not a ton, but it helps. I would recommend this over any other mousse I have tried.

Big poufy hair (I have an inverted, layered bob, fine, color treated hair), cheap price, easy to find, so what's not to like? Only the fact that my hair feels sticky w/ it in (after blow-drying), but I can partially counteract this w/ Frederic Fekkai's Brilliant Glossing Cream.
So why did I say "no" to re-purchase? Because I get the exact same results w/out the sticky feeling from John Frieda Luxurious Volumizing Mousse. However, for me, the JF is getting harder and harder to find so, I will probably re-purchase, but only if my JF is no longer an option.

This is great. It doesn't leave your hair sticky, has great hold and natural look. Really like to use this when I am doing a look that I know needs to last all day long. Sometimes my hair will hold even through the night. Doesn't leave my hair greasy like a lot of other mousse! Great.

I tried this mousse because of all the positive reviews here and I have to say, it really works, and at the right price. You might get Peggy Bundy/pageant hair at first, so this isn't such a great choice for people who want their hair to look and feel natural. You CAN feel the product on your hair. Would be great for a photo shoot, special event or any sort of updo situation. Amazing for '60s looks, no backcombing required! It's also great for everyday if you give it time to relax after styling. Give it a good brush-out. Go ahead and sleep on it. It'll still be zhooshy the next day, and your curls will HOLD. Super sexy.

Three months ago I finished chemo. I have very little hair left and have been searching for anything that would create volume and control in my dandelion hair. This actually works! I just applied a small amount of the mouse on my roots, 1/4 of an egg, then another small amount on the rest of my hair.
I blow dried it and my hair is actually full of volume. I have not styled it yet but this give me such volume I needed to share this. It says it has polymers in it so the heat helps it to produce more volume than others. It I use too much it does make my hair sticky however after having no hair this is great!
I hope I can find some other things that work

I have been looking for a mousse for my fine curly short hair for like months. I tried two other brands, and they were sticky and gross and made me feel like I was going to break my hair if I were to brush my hair after putting them on my hair. I use a small eggs worth of this mousse and I apply it to 50% dry hair. I then use a diffuser and a large paddle brush to blow dry my hair. My hair is wavy when I use a blow dyer, but it is really curly if I let it dry naturally, at least when it's short. I love this mousse. I wasn't expecting it to work, but my curls look clean and polished and not at all crunchy. If I let my hair dry naturally, my curls don't look polished, they just look sort of crazy. This isn't a bad thing, but sometimes I want to feel like my hair is like in control or whatever. What I really like about this mousse is that I can brush my hair after using it, and it doesn't make my hair feel crunchy or stiff. I don't feel like I will break my hair if I want to style my hair after it is dry. This is really important, because I don't wash my hair everyday. I try NOT to wash it, because our hair is extremely delicate when it's wet, so I hope the limited exposure to water will help it grow longer without breaking. Anyway, I like this mousse, a little goes a long way, and it makes my hair feel thick, polished and beautiful when I want to use a blowdryer. I'm not sure if it actually protects the hair from heat, but my hair dryer isn't hot enough to cause any REAL damage to my hair, as I use a diffuser and I keep the blowdryer at least 5 inches from my hair when I do use it on my curls. I love this mousse and I'm so happy that I found it :)

This mousse actually does a fab job at giving volume! Its gives a 'poofy' look though for a few hours and then later turns into a more beautiful fuller look. Best for those who want to scrunch/curl hair. Love this stuff alot. I just apply it and then blowdry hair upside down. I dont think it would work without heat though. The smell is pleseant too, just like all other tresemme products. Would I repurchase? Yes. One of the best cheap volume products out there! Give this a try, you wont regret!

I bought this mousse at Wal-Mart for about $5. I was looking for a hair mousse that would give me volume when I scrunch my hair. I really like using this mousse. I usually blow dry my hair when I scrunch it. I am almost out. I think I will buy it again. The price is good, the packaging is cute and functional, and it gives me great volume. :) Only down side to it is the crunchy stiffness I get if I use too much.
Edit: I recently tried the Suave volume mousse hoping that I would get the same great volume for a lower price. I was disappointed. I will definitely come back to this mousse in the future. :)

I love the volume this mousse gives my hair. I used the big sexy hair mousse and it left my hair crunchy and weighed down. This mousse left it feeling light and very volumized!

I've used this mousse since it first came out. I go back and forth between this one and the Tressemme volume extra hold one but I always come back to this. There's something about the heat activation that I love. I always blow dry so it's nice to feel like I'm getting a little protection in my product as well as volume that I'm looking for. I have long heavy hair and use this product at the roots for a boost at the crown. I apply two egg sized dollops like the can recommends and crunch through my roots with my fingers. I then blowdry with a tourmaline vented paddle brush pulling my hair up and out blasting the roots with the heat for a few seconds at a time. It's awesome. It can be sticky if you don't thoroughly dry a section or use a bit too much and I always use a shine serum with it because it can be a little dulling which is why I took off a lipstick. It's still my favorite, though and I will keep repurchasing.

If you are looking for volumising mousse that is cheap and does the job perfectly, you should REALLY REALLY REALLy try this one ! It almost doubles (kind of triples too) hair volume. Seriously, amazing stuff. I use it only to my roots because it makes my hair crunchy when I use it over my strands. So I stopped using it on my strands , I just use it on roots and blow dry it upside down. It gives amazing oomph to your hair. And unlike other products, this volume usually lasts for 2 days for me. I took off one lippie cuz I did not like the crunchy nature of it when applied to rest of my hair. I tried using less amounts, like one and half dollop but then that did not give me any volume. But still, its my favourite holy gral volumising mousse !!!

I use this mousse every time I blowdry my hair. I have fine hair and it easily doubles the volume. However, as other reviewers have said, you have to use heat for it to properly activate.
There is a slight stiffness to the finished result that reminds me of a small amount of hairspray, but that's the only way you notice that the product is in your hair. Plus it lasts until you wash your hair again. There isn't any sliminess, wet/oily look or feel.
I haven't used many mousse's, but I really never had to look for a different one after I found this stuff. I'm about to buy my 3rd bottle.

I loove this mousse. I'm on my second bottle now and planning to buy a third! It makes your hair so voluminous while not making it stiff. You HAVE to blowdry using this mousse cos it just doesn't work the same without heat. I put a little dallop in my hands(since i have thin flat hair) and I massage it into my scalp while my hair is still damp. Dont use a lot though because it can become greasy. Then I blowdry upside down until my roots are dry. Just tie all your hair up and sleep in it and then WOOW. such amazing volume when you wake up & it usually lasts all day too! I absolutely LOVE this product and would recommend to everyone looking for volume.

Meh, not bad but still looking for something better. Didn't really give me any more volume than any other mousse I've tried. Not sure if I'd repurchase, maybe if it was on sale for super cheap I would.

I am in love with this Mousse. My hair tends to be really flat and so im always looking for a product that gives tons of volume all day long, and this does. It even last until the next morning usually. The only problem i do have with it is you have to be careful with how much you put on. Too much makes my hair look and feel really greasy or hard. I will defiantly buy again though.

I can't even remember how many products I have tried that claim they give volume to hair and really don't. But this stuff works! You just have to know how to use it.
You MUST MUST MUST lift your hair and dry it. sort of molding it. and you have to use enough of the product.
I have medium length, fine hair and this stuff really does wonders for me. I used to tease tease tease in order to get the volume I want, but I don't have to with this stuff. Try it out, play with it. It takes a little technique so don't listen to the people who say it doesn't work, they probably just aren't doing it right.
PROS: gives desired volume
smells fantastic
isn't expensive ( cost me $5-6, US dollars)
CONS: have to use a lot of product ( 2-3 egg-sized dollops)
not really much of a con, but it does take a little practice
as for all day hold, I put it in and blow-dry in the morning and by evening my hair still had all the volume! No hairspray needed for me :)
Don't put this in dry hair, it will make it crunchy and I can't imagine it would work very well. It's for wet hair and then dried with a blow dryer. Hence, THERMAL.
edit: I'm now using Big Sexy Hair root lifting mousse instead as I honestly just got tired of using SO MUCH of this stuff. You really have to use a lot in order to get the desired result. It still works and it's definitely a cheaper alternative to Big Sexy Hair ($15-18 retail).

This is the BEST volumizing product that I have EVER used! Seriously! I did my hair in the evening and when I woke up the next morning it was STILL voluminous! How is that even possible? Normally when you wake up your hair is flat and smooshed to your head... but not with this product!! A product that actually does what it says it will? Who knew?!
It's not sticky or heavy and it smells great. Plus, the fact that it's affordable is a huge plus for me! I also love the fact that it's heat activated.
You have to try this product!!

I have VERY thin and straight hair, my hair tend to be flat. I find a solution for thin hair girls who want big volume all day long. I can't leave without this mousse! My trick is to shower WITHOUT conditioner(it tends to make my flat hair, very flat and it's not good), after the shower, wait around 10-15min, then put this fabulous mousse, then blow dry! (If you let your hair naturally dry, the result will be not the same at all!)
