I would totally recomend this to anyone looking to prevent early wrinkles. At 23 I was starting to see lines on my face I didn't like. Especially in the mornings my face looked tired and my nasolabial lines seemed really harsh. As I wouldn't dare to call them "wrinkles" I was looking for something that brought freshness and youthness back to my face and this cream does just that! It is light weight and smooth and has softened my expression lines and now my face looks a lot fresher.

It's moisturizing and lightweight, I use this under Peter Thomas Roth's retinol serum and I get no irritation or peeling. Just smooth clear skin. Love this cream and you can usually get it on sale at the store.

I'm a 42 year old male. My skin type is very oily, large pores, you know the story... I've always had issues with breakouts and blackheads until about about a year ago when I did some research on skin care and learned about AHA's. I always thought skin care stuff was girly and so never checked into it, yeah, I know, stupid. Anyhow, about the product.
A friend of mine who I learned shared my interest in skin care bought this product and it reacted very badly with his skin so he offered it to me to try. I did some research and learned that retinol and AHA's work well together only you should use one in the morning and one in the evening. Luckily he had the night cream because I read it's best not to use retinol products during the day because of exposure to sunlight. I read that retinol shares salicylic acid's ability to shrink pore size, another plus in my book.
He gave me the product at night and I couldn't wait to try it so I put it on before we started watching a movie. It's a very light 'cream', very easy to apply, a little goes a long way. No discernable fragrance, a big plus because being a big furry dude I don't want to smell like a flower shop. Sinks into the skin quickly and dries. You could apply it at sundown and go out or go shopping, etc and no one would know you're taking care of your skin while getting things done. You can multitask with this stuff! An extra lippy for that (kidding!)
I wake up the next day and of course the first thing I do is feel my face. I'm not being dramatic when I say it was so smooth. It felt as though my face had been carved out of butter and I don't mean to imply that it was greasy. So I go to the mirror and my pores were visibly reduced! and my skin looked (dare I say) dewy. Over the course of a week my skin continued to improve. My skin tone was even. I don't many wrinkles to begin with since my skin is so oily but wow, I am really impressed with the results.
At around the 4th or 5th day I noticed that two under the skin cysts were forming which really bummed me out. The last time that happened was when I began wearing sunscreens and learned the hard way that my skin can't tolerate a cream being left on it for extended periods of time. I nearly gave up on this cream. Then I read about 'skin purging' with new products, especially deep penetrating substances like retinol. I'm glad I stuck it out because I never got any other cystic acne after that.
Overall, I really love this stuff and would recommend it to anyone wanting dewy, glowing skin, reduced pore size and even skin tone. Again, I can't speak specifically to wrinkle reduction because it's luckily not an issue at this time.

This is a great product if you're looking for a cheap cream that contains retinol. I've been using it for a few weeks at night after I wash off my makeup, it keeps my skin soft and I have noticed it's helping with my hyper-pigmentation and acne spots. It does feel a little bit greasy sometimes but since I'm wearing it at night I don't care.
I might buy this product again when I run out but I'm also looking into a brand that contains hyaluronic acid and a stronger concentration of retinol.

Before buying the cream I checked reviews and Beautypedia. Almost all of the reviews are so positive, but not mine! I didn't see any moisturizing effect with this cream and I have an oily complexion. I know that retinol can dry a little, but I've been using this cream for about two months and my skin feels so unpleasantly dry. Plus, my face got so itchy everytime i put it on. Also I didn't see any changes with my lines, and appearance of my skin. Probably throw it away or will try summer time in muggy days.

At 46 years old I started it dealing with pimples again and let's not forget the wrinkles. I wanted it to try this cream with retinol because is effective to fight wrinkles but my face it has become super oily and my pores are huge. I truly don't know why I'm having this problem. Before using this cream my skin was actually normal. I had to say that it helped with my active acne a little. I will only use it on the wrinkles I already have but not as an all face moisturizer.

Love this moisturizer! Leaves my combination (oily/normal) sensitive skin soft and smooth. Get a small amount of oil in t-zone by morning, however a lot less than any other product. Have been using on and off for 5 years, always come back to this wondering why I ever left. My favorite night cream so far. I also use this as a day cream sometimes as I am sensitive to products with sunscreen added.

I'm 43. Acne prone even at this age. This cream is amazing. I put it on and it instantly dissapears into my skin. In the morning, i have no pores and my skin looks flawless. No lie! I've done the Retin-A from the doctor including every other glycolic acids and AHAs and everything else. This little cheap tube is a miracle and no one knows about it. Please buy it. You won't regret it! I'm told all the time by people that they can't believe i'm 43. The highest age i've been given was 30. I attribute this to clean living, clean eating, exercise, lots of water.... and most definitely THIS cream! Enough said!

Wow. I never get amazing results from skincare items. At age 36, I have been battling breakouts again (WFT hormones!) and my forehead has been pretty bumpy. My skin has been dry, uneven, slight wrinkles, and dull. Just ugly overall. I've been using this cream for 2 weeks and it's performing miracles. My skin is CLEAR. Totally clear. I had some peeling, but once that flaked off my skin is so soft and smooth. It burns slightly upon application but I wake up with my skin looking better than ever. And the slight wrinkles are MUCH better. Tone is better, more even, there's a glow, and my skin's soft and clear. I NEVER have results like this. love.

I like this product, I have been using it now for about a month and can see a real difference in my skin tone. It is a bit heavy but absorbs well and since it is a night cream it can double as the moisturizer as well as a retinol treatment. You only need a little so it should last for a while. I have only found this at one Ulta and think I should purchase a back up just in case the stock runs out. Love neutrogena products, will always have them in my skin care.

So many good reviews here so i tried it. One thing that scared me was people say it made them less oily. I have always been very oily but loved that about my skin as dry skin equals "wrinkles". what I was hoping to gain was a little less oil only when I had the product on.so that my make up would stop playing slip n slide after only a few minutes of applying my makeup. Well it does get rid of oil, good lord it stopped my oil production after a few weeks of use and no matter what I miosturizered with it felt like my face was cracking, and felt like that all day. I even used olive oil on my face and.it still felt like it was cracked and dry. I was almost in tears and wanted my oily skin back, so I quit use but still remained dry for months. I was so mad I was ready to sue lol j/k. Finally I think after about 4 months after I.stopped using did my oily skin come and then so did my sanity. I never want dry skin again in my life and pity people who have it, what a serious pain in the butt that is try and sooth. I love my oily (natural moisturized) skin and I will shout it from a mountain if I have too. Never again will I tick off my oil production ad its there for a good reason. This cream was garbage IMO.

FYI - I bought the CVS brand version of this which was $10. Neutrogena brand was $14.99! (There aren't any Walmarts in Manhattan unfortunately)
I did research before buying this, lately i've gotten some serious skincare duds. A lot of good reviews, but I remained skeptical. I compared the ingredients between Neutrogena and CVS versions, both had exactly the same ingredients except for 1....which I THINK was Butylene Glycol (CVS brand was Coco Glycol).
I used it the first night, just under my eyes, on laugh lines, and on my forehead between my brows. It didn't dry my skin out or irritate it at all. I used it again 2 nights later.
The next day my friend asked me why I looked so fresh-faced (mind you I had only been sleeping about 4 hours a night due to being swamped with work). She said she definitely noticed my skin looked improved, much softer and vibrant. So far so good, will update as more time goes by.
--UPDATE--
Terrible! I trashed this after my skin became so dry, and I actually think it did the reverse and aged me more! I only used at night, and washed my face in the morning to avoid sun exposure. I used a good moisturizer, and only applied this 1-2 times a week. Still, my under eye area became dried out and my tiny lines look 10x worse. It took 3 weeks of using a gentle cleanser and deep moisturizer and zero anti-aging products for my skin to go back to normal. This scared me away from using Retinol in the future....i'll wait until I hit 40 before trying this again.

My skin is dry and sensitive, This retinol cream has a creamy, moisturizing feel, but even though I use a nighttime moisturizer over the cream, I don't use it regularly because the retinol is drying and irritating if I use it daily.
I especially like the packaging. The cap is wide enough so that the tube can stand on end, thus taking up less space.

I hate to bring down the reviews but my skin did not like this at all. I have rosacea and very sensitive skin but would love to be able to use a retinoid of any kind to help with the bumpy texture of my skin. This was recommended to me by someone on the skin board and the price was great, $12 IIRC. Unfortunately after I applied this (I waited 20 minutes after washing) my face started tingling and then burning. I had to wash it off. I should have known better but...hopefully this will save someone else with super sensitive skin like mine from trying it. My cheeks are still bright pink 2 days later. :(

I have the regular not the intensive version. I believe this caused my cystic acne to flare up. A few wks after I started using this, I began to get really bad pimples around my jawline/chin, which later spread to my cheeks and neck. I don't wear makeup regularly, so I thought I was breaking out due to makeup I had used and continued to use the cream. One night I decided to be lazy and skip the cream, and for a day or 2 my skin seemed to clear up a bit, but I didn't realize the connection then and continued to use the cream for another week before I realized this may be the culprit. I've stopped using this cream for about 2 wks now and my skin is clearing up, but I have incorporated a new products into my regimen to spead up the recovery.
I still gave this product a rating of 3, because I think this actually helps keep my back and chest clear. I get occassional acne on my back and chest, so I use my face cream to moisturize those areas.
UPDATE 9/19/2012: I have re-purchased this for chest/back, so I don't have to use more expensive face creams for those areas.

This ones a keeper for me. One of the few(unfortunately) night creams that's dosen't contain needless fragrance. That nice smell in a lot of creams is doing your skin no favours at all. I mean would you spray perfume on your face? Madness!! The one and only reason fragrance is added to skin creams is to make them SMELL nice, but they hurt your skin, even if your not sensitive to it, the damage is being done. This glides on like silk and is easily absorbed. It contains retinol also and the tube packaging is great, means the active ingredients remain stable during use.I can also use this around my eyes without any problems. The only downside might be for people with reall dry skin, they may not find this moisturising enough. If my skin is feeling really dry I use the Clinique super antioxidant night in dry /very dry formula but it's very expensive. I use the neutrogena some nights and the clinique on others. Not only is this balancing out the cost, but I feel my skin is getting the best of both as well.Another plus point is this cream is not in the slightest bit greasy. I can't stand these creams that stick to your pillow!!

I knew as I will soon be entering my 30's, I needed to add retinal into my skincare routine. I have no noticeable wrinkles or fine lines except for slight ones under my eyes & have oily combination/acne-prone skin. It did not break me out or send my oily skin into overdrive which is so important! This cream has improved the overall texture of my skin as well as minimized my large pores on my cheeks! I've had these visible pores for years & nothing had changed them until I began using this product! I do notice an overall brightness of my skin & do have a ton of freckles, so I wasn't expecting any of them to disappear. I just recently purchased the matching day cream and will begin using this today. Overall great product, would purchase again.

I must be one of the few who really didnt like this cream. First off, I have dehydrated oily skin. Weird I know. I need something that will moisturize well without making me even more oily or breaking me out. This cream does not moisturize at all. My chin and mouth area is always dry and flaky even if I put more of this cream on. To make things worse, it has increased oil production in my T-zone and has caused me to break out non stop. I keep getting annoying little bumps all over my skin. This is really unusual because I can for the most part keep my acne under control. The only time I have a break out would be that time of the month. I really bought this product because I had retin a in it and i was hoping it would help a bit with acne as well as even out my skin tone. No such luck :( So needless to say I will not buy this cream again. I have heard about Korres Yogurt Cream and seems to be made specifiaclly for my type of skin. It's a lot more costly but if it works I have no problem paying it.

I have the regular, not intensive version. I think the picture here may be wrong for the actual product being reviewed.
It seems to help slightly, but not enough that I'd buy again. I'm starting to get very fine lines so trying to nip them in the butt now before its too late.
After close to a month of use it appears the product may have helped some but not very much. It was more effective in in helping over-all tone in my skin from older acne scars. However, it made me break so SO BAD. Cystic acne bad. I think I may finish up the product only on target zones that I need it for. For me, putting it all over my face seems to equal 1-3 pimples the next morning. Noticeable, sore, red pimples at that. Seemed to clog the pores as well.
I really wanted to like this product. Maybe I've been using too much, but for me a pearl sized amount seemed way too small for my entire face. Oh well, on the hunt for my HG product! This one just didn't work with my skin.
