Love this color! This was RIS (thanks to MUAer purpleicefairy!) and I just love it! It's a very nice bronze-y red color that doesn't wash out my uber fair skintone. It's very buildable too. One coat is a very nice natural look, but layering on a few more coats gives a nice cool red tone.

One would think it's very easy to describe a lipstick colour but it's not so easy when it's a complex shade like mellow flame. At first glance it looks to be a burgundy/caramel but under light you can see a very fine rainbow of shimmer. On my lips this shows up as a sheer warm red brown with fine red lustre. I agree with the other reviewers in that's it's very flattering against olive skin.
One of the few MAC lipsticks I would actually consider re-purchasing.

a lovely color. as a brown girl it's hard to find lipcolors that don't look garish or clowny and this one is so flattering. gives just a hint of a coral-pink tint.

This is a lovely color for my olive NC30ish skin. It is a very complex color, I would say kind of like a browned down coral with some pink/red tones? It applies pretty sheerly but can be layered for more depth. Fabulous formula, very moisturizing. If I could ever find it again I would get it in a heartbeat.

I love this color. I am very fair (think Bobbi Brown Porcelain foundations/concealers with dark auburn hair and brown eyes). This is a warm pink coral with red pearl lustre lipstick from the smoke signals collection 2007. It's stunning. Lustre formulas are notorious for fading quickly - so reapplying is necessary - but I like the lustres - because I can sheer them out or layer them up. If anyone has this color and doesn't use it or doesn't want it - drop me a line - I'll take it off your hands!! :)
Or MAC please bring it back! I have bought several backups.

It makes my lips look ORANGE. On my hand it looks like coral with a tinge of red, but on my lips, it looked so bad. (I'm warm-toned NC30 with somewhat pigmented lips.)

Mac's Mellow Flame is one of my favorite lipsticks! Looking at the actual lipstick color, you would think that it may be a dark red-rose, but it is not. It's exactly what it's named...a mellow flame! It's a light red-rose color with lustre...absolutely beautiful!!

I hate reviewing a LE product because unless it is being sold on ebay, seems pointless as you cannot go out and buy it....but I digress...I love this lipcolor. Even though I am a MAC nc 35, this is a red as I go on my lips....if this color would actually last more than 30 minutes, it would be HG...I guess all the lustres are that way....would love to find this color in a lipstick that would last longer....but I love the color and am glad I bought three of them! This color seems like a redish berry, with minimal shimmer....very pretty.

Hmmm. There must be some evil psychology to discontinuing delightful colors of lipstick and other makeup. For example, my favorite red of all time was Lancome Cerise Vernis and it was discontinued, never to be repeated. Meanwhile, MAC plays hard-to-get with Mellow Flame, described as a warm coral pink with red pearl in a lustre finish. This is accurate. You see a coral red pink (more rosy than orangy) and the pearl is lightly visible in a sheer formula. Very flattering, as it diffuses fine lines in your lips. My lips are fairly pigmented, and this is a YLBB on me, sheer but just enough color to look natural but not washed out. It is one of the "goodbyes" and still available but it's one of the "dead lipsticks walking" meaning it will be dc. My only hope is that MAC seems to believe strongly in reincarnation and sometimes brings these good colors back as reborn under a new name or even as resurrected under the orignal name. I can only hope and pray. Meanwhile I will be buying a clone. spare. twin. backup. Whatever.

This was limited editon with the August 07 Smoke Signals collection. It is a warm coral pink with red pearl in a lustre finish. It is a great neutral color that goes on sheer and can be built up in vibrancy. It is a great everyday, work lipstick, perfect for pairing with neutral eye makeup. However, I personally dislike the consistency of the lustre finish, so I wouldn't buy it again.

Love this LE lipstick from MAC. It's perfect for colouring your lips your natural colour but even better! I'd say it's a rosy terracotta colour with lustre. Very nice. It works both day and night!

I'm pale (NW15-20) and I never thought of my lips as "pigmented," but they must be, because this lipstick barely shows up on them. It's a MLBB -- slightly cooler-toned than MAC Charismatic, more of a rosy pink with a bit of shimmer. I like it and wear it a lot, but it's not blowing me away.

Mellow flame is one of the 5 limited edition lipsticks released by MAC for their Smoke Signals collection 2007.
In the tube, it is a beautiful bronze shade with gold flecks. On my lips it is a warm bronzed rose with gold shimmer. This colour really reminds me very much of a muted version of NARS lovejoy blush. This is extremely pigmented and like many of their lustres, moisturising too.
I am impressed by this lipstick as well as the others released in this collection. A definite must-buy imo. Would look especially good on warmer or neutral skintones as I can imagine the warmth of this lipstick clashing badly with those with cool skintones. But to each her own, so do give it a try :)
For reference, I'm a GGG with NC40-42 colouring.

I love this colour, I was looking for something other than a bright or dark red for evening and this is perfect, a lustre , so sheer and shimmery and a medium brick/rosy slightly brown colour, I am very warm toned with pale olive skin and green eyes and dark blonde hair and this just lights up my face. Not a colour I would normally have gone for, somewhat outside my "comfort zone" but very glad I did.

I love this lipstick. :) More than Sparks Can Fly. The texture is smoother and glossier (well, it is a lustre formulation) and the colour is just pretty. MLBB and nudish on me (sort of a dusky rose, I think). I'd definitely be reaching for this more often.

Mellow Flame is a great colour. Not really coral, more of a bricky rose colour but very sheer. Nice fall shade.
