Too bad this has been discontinued. I suppose the new Youth Code Regenerating Skincare Serum Intense Daily Treatment is supposed to takes its place. I haven't tried the new stuff yet... it's much more expensive. Will keep checking the reviews to see it it's worth the extra price.

I like this serum even used by itself as opposed to under another moisturizer (not that I don't use it underneath other products.) I find it has great slip so a very small amount goes a long way. It is very moisturizing due to it's high concentration of Hyaluronic Acid (which binds 100's of times it weight in water w/out being heavily emolient/thick.) When used at night you can still feel it being "active" when you wet your skin for cleansing in the morning. It's very protective and is a great product to use when you've been overly agressive in your skin care or just when skin tends to be stressed. It has a calming, soothing affect on the skin as if it has healing properties incorporated. It is suppose to streghthen the differing layers within the skin making them more cusioned and full of hydration. I believe it accomplishes this and does so quickly though the benefits are cumulative. The pump bottle along w/the ability to lock the cap closed and open it by reversing the process which closed it keeps the product well protected and hygenic. It pumps out just the right amount so there is never any waste. It's perfectly clear in appearance which implies a sense of purity. Highly Recommended!..

I got this at Big Lots very cheap after I bought the night serum. It is very runny and oily which I do not like. The night serum is very thick. My skin does appear to be clogged but it is hard to determine which product is doing it unless i stop one by one. Granted I don't drink enough water and take off my makeup every night....and wonder why my skin is clogged...guess i will have to update this review in a few weeks.

I came across the Skin Genesis product line just recently, although I heard that it's been discontinued, too. But, you can still get it on Ebay or Amazon, if you're really love it, like I do. I was looking for something "better", a whole new skin regimen that is suitable for skin in your 30s, and I think I found it. If you use all the products (or, start with the night cream and the serum underneath it), you will see and feel instantly smoother skin, I guarantee.

I do, and I'm VERY picky when it comes to face cream. I have combination/oily skin, and it didn't break me out yet. I use the Strengthening Serum underneath the regular cream, morning and night and I feel skin looking tighter and more "awake".

If you can, pick it up at your local drugstore, I've seen it on clearance here and there right now.

I used this product with the entire L'Oreal Skin Genesis line, I thought if I used this product as recommended it might give me some ground to review it. To me it works just fine as a serum, it helps hydrate your face before your moisturizer. It was not as good as some make up counter serums but it's also a lot less pricey, especially if you can get it on sale. I would repurchase if this was on sale again.

I can see why some of the reviewers didn't like this serum. i used this back in the day; it is sticky, drying.. and balls up. when i first started using this, i thought it was working..NOT! The only reason why i had the illusion of firmer skin, was due to the 'alcohol tightening effect'. if it works for other ppl..then great! But for me...the only who seems to love this...is my trashcan.. :)

Not a great serum. It goes on wet and sticky and it didn't do much for my skin. I find Okay Regenerist serums much better.

I bought this serum when Kmart had a buy one get one 50% off sale. I love the nighttime treatment in the blue bottle, but I am not actually sure if this is helping any or not... so I suppose it probably isn't. Imo way to expensive if not on sale!

I have only used this serum one day, but I am noticing a real difference. My skin had been dry and rough, causing my small forehead and brow lines to show. This serum seems to really cause my moisturizer to soak in overnight. Whatever it does, this serum plumped my skin, so now it looks hydrated and softer. My lines are more filled in - moreso than I had anticipated! I am only 25 and purchased the serum as an anti-aging solution. So far, I would recommend this product, but will update if any adverse effects or decreased effects show up.

My HG serum!! This doesn't break my skin out nor over clog it. I feel that it has help make my skin appear fresher and younger. I'm 26, and now I look how I wished looked 5 years ago :) I just attended a family reunion and everyone was complementing me and some who previously ridiculed me were taken aback at how well I looked!!

UPDATE: Still goin' strong! I strayed away from this stuff for a short time and came right back to it!!

Serums should be rubbed between your hands to warm it up, then in an upward-out motion, masage into the skin. Also, by patting gently on your face while slightly pressing this will allow the serum to better absorb. I got this idea from Chizu Saeki, renown beauty expert. Many times we have great products but apply them incorrectly. That goes for all serums/creams not just this one.

First off, (and this may have a lot to do with my experience with this product, but I do imagine there are many other MUAers in the same boat as I), I am 24-so for this product to reduce the "age" of my skin would be tricky. That said, as a serum, moisturizer, part of my or any skincare routine, I don't care for it.

I have noticed no skin improvements while using this for many months (and psssh at being 24--I have dry eye area, medium size pores, and the need for a lot more vibrancy in my skin!). Only a few moments after putting it on, my skin feels tight and not moisturized and eh, just no better than before! And as I mentioned, that goes for the long term use with this product as well.

So, ladies looking for some skin help-think twice on this. I may not yet need years taken off my face, but IME this product doesn't fulfill ANY of the claims it boasts.

Love everything about this. The smell, the consistency, and how it works.

I have been using this for 3 weeks now along with two Olay regenerist creams and my complexion has improved greatly. I can't attribute it to one specific item so I'm thanking all three!

I developed a love/hate relationship for this Serum. The reason: shortly after using it, it brought back a bit of youthful glow I naturally had before a major stressful event that caused me to look like I aged by 5 years, and get fine lines in just one month's time. This serum reduced my "age" in apperance by a year within one week's use. The serum concentrate has a mild tightening/freshening effect which I like very much, but here is the major downside: it caused my pores to enlarge. It also stings, I'm willing to tolerate a bit of pain and stinging for a good effect, but for a full review im including everything I experienced with this product. I also have mild Rosacea, and this product makes me look flushed. It lets me look a bit younger and refreshed at the expense of enlarged pores and stinging and mild redness. From my experience in using other products, tolerating those symtoms and using it long term causes me to get patchy dry spots as a result. I will not be re-buying the Serum concentrate and saddened because it really gave me the youthful glow I was looking for. I will finish the bottle and report any changes. For those who don't react with larger pores or burning and flushing, this can be a really great anti-aging product. In comparison to it's alternate product from the Genesis line: I also tried the Pore Minimimizing Skin-Resmoother for a full month which also delivers the Pro-Xylane and Hyaluronic acid Ingredient. This product DOES reduce the look of pores, did not have any harmful side effects aside of mild, temporary stinging. It makes the pores softer-looking and less dark. They go from black-heads to brown-heads. Lol. The problem with the skin-smoother product is that it that it peels and flakes off, and does so with any moisturizer I've tried thus far. It looks ugly and I am still working to find a solution to this problem because this product is proving to work really great for it's purpose and no other product as reduced the look of pores like this for me. I personally like to use a generous amount of product to avoid stretching the skin unnecessarily and the Re-Smoother does not go on as nice and easy as the Concentrate. If you apply too much or use this without moisturizer/makeup (aside of the flaking off) it leaves a residue that looks like someone threw chalk on your face. I'm trying to work around that as I love the Re-smoother's pore reducing, skin-evening benefits, and no other product has done this for me before, not even dermabrasion and peels. As for ingredients: I like that the Re-smoothers has hydroxy salicyclic acid. It is not a major ingredient, but all-in-all the skin Re-smoother took away the rough patches I had on my skin and really did even out my skin texture all over my face. I like that Zinc is one of the ingredients as well because it has healing properties for those with Rosacea. The Re-smoother Pore minimizer did as claimed, cleared my skin made it smoother and reduced the look of pores without any harmful side effects, but has that ugly flaking. One thing the Re-smoother lacks as promised from advertisement is the "glow" unlike the nice tightening/freshening/youthful-glow that the Concentrate delivers almost instantaneously. The Skin Re-smoother has NOT proved to show anti-aging effects like the Serum-Concentrate, so perhaps the Xylane ingredient alone is not delivering the younger looking skin as promised. I will continute to use the re-smoother and update if I notice any anti-aging effects. In conclusion, the Concentrate delivers youthful glow and anti-aging effect with the risk of enlarged pores,burning/flushing, and break-out reaction. The Skin-resmoother delivers smaller looking pores and smoother/even skin without the glow and anti-aging effect, and can flake off. I suspect L'Oreal is trying to combine these two products somehow, and hope they do so successfully!

update: I am still continuing the use of the Serum concentrate, and I failed to mention that I did break out with a few small pimples on the nose, cheek and upper lip. I also used the wet cleansing towelletes one day before and once on the day starting this trial, but never after that again. Although I usually break out right away from products, I will be using ONLY the Serum-Concentrate from here on just to make sure it was not the towelletes that caused the break-outs. Will come back in a few weeks.

My skin type is dry, with some tendency to get oilier on my forehead but not too much. This serum dried out my skin and I could smell the alcohol in it. Someone mentioned its the 3rd ingredient on the list, which I did not check very closely before I bought it. (my fault!) This might work for someone whose skin is less dry and can handle the alcohol. But it was too much for me, especially in the wintertime. I'm used to paying more for serums so the price is fine by me, but since it didn't work as well I hoped, I won't be repurchasing.

When I read Allure's article on the breathrough products of 2008 and decided to purchase this product, I admit I didn't have high hopes. The article stated that this serum binds moisture to the skin, and since my skin is getting drier, especially in fall/winter, I really need something that helps keep the moisture in my skin after cleansing and throughout the day/night. And the anti-aging properties don't hurt either! Also, the pump bottle is so conventient and sanitary, I had to try it out. Without expecting much, I applied 1 pump of the clear, liqui-gel serum to my damp skin after splashing my face with water in the morning and found that it applies smoothly, sinks in quickly and moisturizes well. It didn't ball up when mixed with the water on my skin or when I immediately followed up with my moisturizer and face primer. I used it this way for a few days and since it performed so well, I decided to experiment: If I leave my skin dry for too long after cleansing, it dries up and feels flaky/tight. I really wanted to know exactly how well this product moisturizes, so I let my skin dry completely before applying the serum and was surprised to feel my skin was replenished with moisture. I then followed with my regular moisturizer and regimen. Now I did this over the summer, so I cannot say how it would work this time of year.
Also, I have highly reactive skin and vascular rosacea, so if I am not careful in the shower, I sometimes come out looking like a tomato face! When that happened after I purchased this serum, I decided to try and see if it has any calming properties. I applied the serum to my damp, hot, red face, followed with moisturizer and 15 minutes later, my skin was much calmer and had cooled down. Now I could contribute that to anything if I didnt know my skin so well - regular moisturizers/calming serums have never been able to calm my redness down so quickly. I purchased this while it was on sale, with a mini pump container as a bonus with my purchase and a coupon inside for my next purchase, along with a sample of their spf 15 moisture lotion. I have already repurchased and as long as it continues to work for me, I will again and again. I am happy to say that I have finally found a ds skincare product that works my skins needs!

Um, what is this serum supposed to do? From L'Oreal's explanation it strengthens your skin. So it can be... what? I used this steadily for almost two weeks and can say I don't notice any marked improvement in my skin. I break out easily but also have sensitive skin. I thought perhaps this would make my skin more resilient, less likely to break out, maybe even even out my skin tone. The only things I can admit it did was make my pores look huge, did nothing to control my skin's sebum levels, didn't make an improvement in the evenness of my complexion or prevent breakouts, caused me to have some little dry spots and refused to soften any fine lines I have. So again I ask, what EXACTLY is it supposed to do (besides remove money from my wallet)?

I developed a lot of blackheads from this serum, since the weather has become colder and drier I thought I would try something heavier. I used this in conjunction with the lotion and my skin has been "off kilter" since using it. I'm probably much too oily for this serum.
