A nice neutral colour with a strong pink shimmer on my NC44 skin. Nice to have, but not necessary.

Actually, I really like this eyeshadow!!!! Its super pretty and unique. Its dark yellowy-gold with raspberry sheen. Something nice to wear instead of everyday neutrals.

If you just glance at this color, it looks pretty boring, yellow too, and unappealing, but once it's on, you can see just how awesome this eyeshadow is. It's a duochrome peach with a gorgeous shimmer of purple/pink. When it's applied, the yellow truly fades to peach and just alllows a beautiful highlight to your eyelids. Not terribly dramatic, but definitely noticable. I like to wear this everyday, and it looks great lit with Nocturnelle. I will definitely buy again.

This eyeshadow is really neat. When the gal at the MAC store showed this to me I thought she was crazy. I had just told her I don't like anything gold or yellow or orange. But then she showed me that if I mix Motif with Mulch, it turns this beautiful purple/brown/pink colour. I absolutely love how it looks together and have been wearing it almost everyday since I got it with Mulch. Very cool.

This is the coolest eyeshadow!I recieved this in a swap and I freaking love it!It looks yellow in the pan but once applied it is a beautiful pearl pinkish color depending on what other shadows you use ,it reflects that color.I love using this on my lid with swiss chocolate in my crease,I wear that look at least 4 times a week!If you have the opportunity to own this shadow, definely do it!!

I love this es!! And one of the main reasons I'm reviewing it is that I would NEVER have picked it out at first glance. In the pan it looks orange-y gold to me and being cool toned it would have terrified me! It was recommended to me by an online MA and was used with Motif as base, paradisco in the crease, and Sketch in the outer corner. I LOVE this look. My eyes are brown with a little green and Motif is excellent for that. The trick is to find the right es to use it with. It is wonderful with Copperplate. I have also used it with Sable in the crease and I love those togther. It can be used just to give a little pop on the center of the lid too. This really is a hidden gem. I love the color payoff and I have to say this is one of the only duochromes that can actually works on me. Give it a try! I think this would be very flattering on a wide range of skintones.

Love, love, LOVE this eyeshadow!!! I have been looking for a light gold/pink duochrome eyeshadow ever since I ran out of my beloved I Nuovi Lava eyeshadow, which I bought on a trip to the Philippines in 2006. I have been searching for years and finally saw MAC Motif on MUA and had to buy it. (I got it for $12 on Amazon.) The color is a sheer gold with pink mica that makes it "change color". It's a sheer, iridescent and alluring color that works so well with my NC40 skin. I use it on my lid, with Embark along the crease for a gorgeous daytime look that makes my brown eyes really pop. Ahhhhhhh love it- sooo pretty!!

I love this color, I've used it for years. It sometimes shows pink, gold or a light orange, and goes with everything I wear. It has a shimmer. The coverage can be applied heavy, or very sheer. It can be applied wet or dry, I usually wear it dry.

For the money, I think MAC eye shadow is the best thing out there. This is my favorite color, but I have tons of MAC eye shadows in my make up bag.

MOTIF looks pale gold in the pan, but on my pale skin only the pink shimmer shows. I use it to wash a pretty dimension over other colors on the lid. Over PATINA it looks amazing!
EDIT: I don't think I emphasized enough what a sophisticated, subtle dimension this can add when washed over other colors or even a neutral eye design. A photo just can't capture it. So pretty

Well as usual, I was at the MAC counter testing out all the eye shadows and I came across Motif. Now, this shadow reminds me of a special edition Mineralize Skinfinish called "Porcelain Pink". It has such a beautiful glow to it. I use the eye shadow all over the lid and add a bit of Trax in the outer crease. I also use it as a brow and cheek highlight. It's quite versatile! I'm so happy I got it and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice highlight color.

I know this is supposed to be a pink duo chrome, but it was gold on my lids. I really like this shade, but I find that brown suits my skin tone better so I will not be repurchasing.

Ummm... I don't really know how to describe this e/s colour lol its a duochrome - pink/peach/gold colour :s hahaha no idea!
Its good as a highlighter, I've still yet figured out how to wear this e/s properly and until then, its getting 3/5 from me! Its an interesting colour, which is the main reason I bought it! Colours are kind of confusing haha

I agree with the prior reviewer: I like this ES. Note, I don't love it and there are probably many dupes for it but NOT with duochrome.. and that is what makes it valuable to me.

I have done some great spring looks with this ES and for photography it is super... so, yes it is worth 5 lippies, and yes, I will repurchase.

I like Motif - its a peachy sheer color with pink undertones. I use this as a highlight for pinkish or copper eyeshadows. I do use it occassionaly on the lid as well, however I would need to pack on a couple of layers for it the color to show up. It's not bad as neutral color, it works just as well. I place this on the inner third of my lid and place a darker color and blend it together and it looks really nice. Motif works well with Coppering, Cranberry, Nocturnelle, and Sketch.

This was my first MAC eyeshadow and I am not too impressed with this one. It is very sheer and I feel it was such a waste of money.

This shadow was recommended to me by the MAC artist and I had always overlooked it. Nothing drew me to it. Pair it with Cranberry and it looks beautful. It's got a duochrome effect so in the light it will look a light subtle pink.

This was the first MAC shadow i bought back when MAC shadows had screw-on tops. Since thenI've bought it maybe 7 times over. I love this with browns shadows like Folie and Espresso. I also use it on its own with brown eyeliner or as a highlight. I will buy it a thousand times over.

Motif is definitely one of the colors I always go back to from my MAC collection. It's a mainstay for me. It seems many reviewers here are undecided about it or not sure how to use it. It's a staple for anyone with light eyes, or for those with brown eyes who love pink shadow looks and need a blending or base color. I love mixing it with neutral browns for a warm peachy look. It is a perfect blending color for orangey eye looks with blue eyes. It's great also for a subtle inner corner highlight. Sometimes I also use it to highlight my cupids bow on my top lip.
