Given the price point, I'd say this is a pretty great cream for people with dry and/or overworked skin. I grabbed two tubes of this off a discount retailer site. People admire my skin, and let's just say that I'm pretty particular when it comes to creams. While I'm not going to say it's a miracle cream, I can certainly understand why it has the reputation for being a very good, every day one. I have skin that can lean towards dryness; I put it through a lot with Renova, Clarisonic, the occasional microdermabrasion and IPL. On top of that, I have environmental allergies that can turn my face and neck into red, scaly awfulness. This cream seems to calm it a bit, which is fantastic. It's on the thinner side, spreads easily, and really quenches what almost appears to be a deep, skin thirst (did I actually just type that? Yes, I did). Given the latter quality, I would say that there truly is something different about it that makes it stand apart from a good many products. It's a great cream to layer my make-up over, washes off quite well, and gives me the perfect hint of youthful dewey-ness. Lastly, the hydration appears to remain pretty consistent with wear. It's easily discernible why people who travel a lot, or put their skin through the mill, would always have this on hand -- especially considering the price. If I can get it at a discount again, I will buy it and stock up.

I was using this for over two months, trying to like it because it did make my skin feel very soft... most of the time. I did develop a few dry patches (which I can be prone to) but it also caused me to break out a bit and I had a little bit more shine than I liked... sometimes. I kept using it for as long as I could before deciding to stop. My experience was quite strange because my skin was behaving differently while using this. It would go from happy to too oily in areas and then too dry in other areas with break outs (not huge but I would constantly have two wee spots somewhere on my face, which is unusual for me). I'm sorry to say but my skin improved once I stopped using it every day. I may still use this as a one off, maybe once a month over night but my skin can't tolerate it every day. Real shame because when it worked, it was great and I very much enjoyed the light fragrance it has.

This cream has received a lot of hype, but it is basically mineral oil with some emulsifiers to make it spread well in a lotion-like way.

It can only be successfully used by those with VERY DRY skin, due to the mineral oil ingredient. Mineral oil is occlusive (meaning it creates an impermeable barrier) and it will protect dry skin from trans-epidermal water loss, which is just a fancy way to say "water evaporation." Normally, oil, water, and sweat mix on our skin to create a protective barrier that protects skin from invaders and environmental harm, but people with dry skin don't have this natural protection. They can get it with this product.

For any other skin type, this moisturizer is either not appropriate or, as in the case of oily or acne-prone skin, downright harmful. Important: contrary to popular belief, mineral oil does not suffocate or actively clog skin -- in fact, it creates a layer of molecules so large they do not penetrate the skin, they just sit on top of it to seal and protect (which is why it is so great for dry skin!). However, think of this in terms of anyone who has oily skin -- if they naturally produce OIL AND BACTERIA, that is now trapped under an impermeable layer, and will certainly clog pores and create blemishes.

People with dry skin do not make their own sebum (oil), and do not produce bacteria with the sebum, so they are safe to use this. Acne-prone people will just make their skin worse by using this.

So, that is the first thing to keep in mind when using this product. Secondly, the price... wow. Why so expensive for common, inexpensive ingredients? Any average moisturizer will do the same. All of their products are frustratingly simple, with common ingredients you can pay a few bucks for at your local whole foods store, and they sell for over $20 for a tiny tube? Their age-defying serum, for example, is nearly $75 for crazy-cheap ingredients, only one of which has any performance-related power at all, and is so low on the ingredient list that there is no real benefit from it.

Bottom line: great for very dry skin, but not at that price. Find any other mineral oil based moisturizer and save the money.

3.5. The one I'm reviewing is "Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentre". Bought two 75ml (2.5oz) tubes for 18 euros ($24) total at a French pharmacy on a recent trip. Yes, I know... the hype, I had to try. I don't have much to say other than, yes, it's a nice light moisturizer (I have normal to slightly dry skin), has nice light smell, seems to sink in quickly. But I can say the same thing about various Oil of Olay, Neutrogena moisturizers I've used over the years. Not that I expected miracles, but I didn't see or feel much of a difference (I have good skin overall...so maybe too much to expect a "glow" or whatever that people seem to talk about). The test for me is this -- if available in the US at similar price, would I buy it, and I think the answer is well, maybe, or sometimes but this isn't anything amazing to me. Just a basic moisturizer. I do like the utilitarian tube though.

You can easily get it online in the US at maybe a little over twice the price in Europe. So not that expensive if you want to see what the hype is all about.

I'm skin care obsessed so of course I had to try this product. It basically has a cult following of models and makeup artists. However delve a little further and you'll realise that the aforementioned don't use this as an everyday moisturiser unless they have dry skin - it's just too rich otherwise. It's so famous and popular because of it's amazing priming abilities, rather than as a moisturiser. It basically can transform dry, dehydrated skin into plump, healthy and glowy in a matter of minutes. I've seen it happen on myself! The skin feels soo ridiculously soft and has a gorgeous, satiny-sheen not to mention photographs beautifully. Unfortunately it contains cheap, comedogenic ingredients such as mineral oil (2nd ingredient!!), Glyceryl Stearate and Beeswax. I have normal/combo skin and tried wearing this every day and even though I have an extremely thorough cleansing and exfoliating regime this still made me break out in those little bumps that seem to appear in clusters - typical of cosmetic acne from pore-clogging ingredients. However I'll still give it a 3 as it is very reasonably priced and has multiple uses - as well as a moisturising cream it's also a cleansing cream that gently removes make-up, an after-shave cream and a cleansing lotion for babies and children. It also respects the skin's natural balance (pH, microorganisms) and encourages the rebuilding of the hydrolipidic layer (the skin's natural protection). I have heard reviews of people burning badly from sun overexposure and this aptly named "24 HR Miracle Cream" helped heal and soothe their skin enormously. I won't buy again because I prefer Bioderma H20 as a makeup remover and Decleor, Clarins and Sothys products as moisturiser. I just feel like there are so many superior products on the market with far better ingredients.

So, this is the moisturizer you´ll find on every beauty blogger´s website and in every models bathroom.
That doesn´t mean, it will work for your skin. I found it out the hard way, although I wanted to love this.
I was curious about this basic-yet-nothing-short-of-a-miracle moisturizer.
My skin is combo, acne-prone, sensitive and dehydrated.
Bought the small size (30 ml) online for 18 Euros.
The moisturizer is a light cream, which feels surprisingly rich on application.
I didn´t find, that it sank into my skin, but it rather acted as a sealing and protecting cream which stayed on my skin. It´s quite "heavy" moisturizer, meaning it made my face shine a little bit and I "felt" the whole day, that I was wearing this moisturizer. I personally see it as a moisturizer for dry skin, not dehydrated skin, which is a big difference.
The moisturizing abilities are not very good in my opinion. The cream on its on would never deliver enough moisture for my rather dehydrated skin. I tested it with a hyualuronic acid serum underneath, which made the cream work better.
It made my skin glowing and look a little bit shiny, which is good, because my skin tends to look dull.
Took the flakiness away too and my make up applied easily. I have to admit, it made my skin look good and my make up looked very nice, so I guess, that´s why so many MUA use it as a primer.
A few things I´d recommend you to consider first, when you buy this moisturizer.
It contains beeswax, shea butter, aloe vera, fragrance and mineral oil.
If your skin doesn´t like one of these ingredients, please, don´t buy it.
For my skin, the beeswax was the dealbreaker. I had bad experiences with beeswax in organic creams, but never had it as an ingredient in conventional creams. It gave me a low level irritation the whole time I was wearing the moisturizer in daytime and I was relieved, when I could take it off in the evening. Not a good sign for me. If I kept on using this, my skin would have freaked out big time. I dealt with slightly irrtiated skin for a few days, so thankfully, no major irritation.
For me, this is a big no. But if you are sure, you´re not reacting bad towards the ingredients and you are curious like me, you may give it a try.
Surely no must-have for my skintype and too many potential irritating or pore clogging ingredients for people with sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Nice, light moisturizer that I use for daytime underneath makeup. It's not quite hydrating enough to keep flakes at bay all day long, but nothing cosmetically elegant ever is. Calms redness quite well and doesn't break me out, so I will repurchase until something miraculous comes along.

A lovely MUAer sent me a sample of this, and when I got close to using it up, I knew I would miss it enough to repurchase it. My skin absolutely loves this stuff. It works well under makeup, but it's also moisturizing enough to use as a night cream. I layer it over my retinol cream at night, and it leaves my skin feeling soft and incredibly hydrated each morning. My skin is dehydrated and flaky, but also oily. This doesn't break down my makeup, or make me prematurely shiny during the day. It actually seems to balance my skin out nicely. I haven't had any issues with breakouts or clogged pores from this. It has a very light powdery scent to it, but I don't notice it at all once it's on my face. As for packaging, I love the tube. It's hygienic, and easy to roll the tube up as you go to get every last drop out of it. I'll definitely be repurchasing when I run out.

Umderwhelmed. Hyped up by make up artists. I used it to blend with Chanel bronzer cream/gel (name escapes me at the moment). Tacky feeling patchy looking skin was the result. (Not actually keen on the bronzer either, look like I have a dirty face!) Tried to use this cream just as a moisturiser, sticky texture put me off. Might use it on my elbows or feet to use up.

Okay, I don't want to jump the gun on calling this HG, but it's looking like an HG for me. I have only used this for a week now but it is seriously good. I have never had skin so smooooth and hydrated. And calm! The previous reviewer was right, this moisturizer is a workhorse. I use it at night over my Fresh Seaberry Oil and then in the morning, as a primer AND moisturizer before makeup. No clogged pores or irritation, just lovely soft skin. I could not be more pleased! I wish it was a little easier to purchase, and maybe a little cheaper, but it's so good that I will repurchase for certain. I almost want to order a backup! And I don't mind the packaging so much, a little goes a long way so I still see this lasting a long time for me. And tbh, if I'm going to splurge on any beauty product, I'm most inclined to do so for a moisturizer that works well for me.

The first time I purchased this was because of the youtube hype, I KEPT repurchasing it because its a lovely workhorse of a moisturizer. I use this at night and also before I apply makeup. The very first time I used it I didn't really "get it" but once I put on my makeup I understood it, it gives the most beautiful sheen to my dry dry skin without irritating my acne prone skin. It has a lipidy type of texture that I just have not been able to find in any other product. At about 20 dollars thats on the pricey side for me but I don't really care. One tube lasts me several months and the look of my skin deteriorates when I am not using this so I will continue to repurchase.

I give very few 5 ratings but this is one product that has really blown me away.

Awful for my skin. It left a film and caused cysts and pimples. Nowadays, there are far better, and many more moisturizers on the market that do what Embryolisse is supposed to do.

This cream isn't miraculous, but it does exactly what it promises without irritating my skin. It makes a nice base for makeup and doesn't make my sensitive skin break out, in spite of the shea butter. I don't like the metal tube that wastes a lot of product, but that's my only quibble.

I'm ending up changing this entire review! This product didn't work for my face AT ALL. It made my skin kind of dull and just blah overall, and my makeup didn't sit very well over it. Thoroughly disappointed, I shelved it for a while. One day, however, I decided to give it a try on my hands and omfg, it is a godsend. My hands are insanely dry and cracked and this product works amazingly well for them. Not a waste of money after all!

This moisturizer must have been created by the gods of skin care. As a makeup artist, I still have yet to find a moisturizer or primer that makes skin feel as smooth as this. My story starts here: I thought I had struck gold when I found my Korres wild rose face cream. My face felt well-moisturized and it did not make me break out. However, the first time I applied Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre to my face, I realized how parched my skin actually was (even though it seemed ok to me because it was better than it ever had been.) My reaction: "This is what my skin is supposed to look/feel like." I had some acne through my teens and early 20's and have some residual scarring and pigmentation. Until I started using this, I would usually have clear skin with imperfect texture that could still appear really nice and get complimented, but always had maybe one or two little zits somewhere. Once I started using this, it was like everything balanced out. My skin feels like plump, supple, baby skin and my foundation applies like a dream. The only time I get a break out now is right before you know when. Foundation also applies like a dream. I get told I have perfect skin all the time now. Also, I recommended my sister, who is suffering from pretty bad breakouts, start using this. She did, and her oily skin cleared up. I'm telling you, this stuff is good. I use it on all my clients and they all love it.

Just wanted to clear something up for Embryolisse and oily skin. It is NOT the shine devil, ladies!

If you want a true matte look, this probably isn't for you. But I've been using it for years on my obnoxious combo skin, and find this is still the only thing that can simultaneously deal with the dryness while still controlling the enormous oil slick in my T-zone. It leaves my skin very soft and silky, and with a natural, moisturized-looking glow--not a shimmer-product glow, and not a shine. (Analogizing to lipstick, think of it as giving a semi-matte or cream finish--not a gloss (oily) or pure matte finish.) If I touch my face, yes I can feel the product there a little-- but it's a light and velvety (certainly not tacky or sticky), like the tactile equivalent of a light diffuser old-time Hollywood--and it reassures me that my skin isn't going to grease up, or spontaneously crack when I smile (which it otherwise sometimes does). This also makes a great base for a light foundation (I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer or Bare Minerals powder--for which it helps avoid the flaky-skin look). My oil is so stubborn it eats foundation and even primer for breakfast; this is the only thing I've tried that keeps away the midday shine/slippery makeup grossness.

Of course everyone's skin chemistry is different so you'll have to experiment and find out. But I don't think it's overhyped. I've used it everywhere, in sweltering Paris heat to New England winters, and for me this is still the gentlest and best moisturizer/primer/cleanser on the market (and a steal at somewhere around twenty bucks). Love that it even stops my acne--as a breathable barrier it stops surface contaminants, and by locking in moisture, it discourages my skin from over-producing oil and sebum.

If you're oily like me and give it a try, make sure you commit and let it have a week or so to adjust. Your skin is adaptive but probably needs time to get used to the change and stop overproducing in response to the usual harsh, oil-stripping products. I certainly did--my skin had been damaged horribly by my trying just about everything: Clinique, Shiseido, the Neutrogena Complete acne therapy system, ProActive, Bioré, so many masks, facial oils, moisturizers, and spot treatments... Now I'm down to just a gentle Aveeno foaming (non-medicated!) cleanser and this stuff, and the occasional St Ives apricot shell exfoliation. I won't tell you it's given me *perfect* skin, because almost nobody has that--but nowadays I do smile when I see my face in the mirror. Near enough for real life!

This is probably the ONLY moisturizer I've ever bought multiple times. I'm working on my fourth or fifth tube now... I just really like it, it does the job without a hint of breakout.

I have the Lait Creme Concentrat usually but this time the shop was out (the lady RIGHT before me bought the last one. ugh) So i bought the Vitamine (red font) one, i like it quite a bit. It's been really dry so i think it was the right move for winter.
highly recommended - I have dryish combo skin.

I have extremely dry skin in the winter with dry patches on the inside of my cheeks next to my nose. In the summer my skin is more dry/combination (a bit more ily on the nose and forehead but still dehydrated). Now that it is winter I was in need of a good moisturizer to combat the dryness. I ran out of my Dr Hauschka Rose day cream (that worked excellent) but I heard so many wonderful things about Embryolisse Lait crème concentrate that I wanted to see if it was better than the Rose day cream by Dr Hauschka. The texture is a bit more fluid than I expected, does not necessarily mean that it is a bad thing; I just like my cream more thick. The smell is light, and evaporates quickly. It is true that once applied it glides over you face easily, but you can feel it on you skin, and not in a good way. It feels a bit sticky when I touch my face (not that I touch my face during the day this is bad for your skin and can cause breakouts, but I am not used to the sticky feeling). I personally do not like the feeling. So as only a moisturizer I cannot say that I am happy with the “feeling” of the cream on my face. As only a moisturizer it is fine but once I apply my foundation (Mac Studio sculpt foundation NW20) I still see the dry patches. You do get a nice glow/sheen to the face from this moisturizer, but I can achieve the same thing with the Dr. Hauschka Rose Day cream (not recommended for oily skin). So in conclusion I went back to the Dr. Hauscka Rose Day cream (no more dry patches). But for those who do not suffer from dry patches, the Embryolisse Lait crème concentrate will probably work fine for you. I think this product is overhyped.

My skin has been getting a lot drier recently, and I decided my Neutrogena combo skin moisturizer wasn't cutting it. In comes Embryolisse lait creme concentre, a product I've read and heard about on numerous occasions.
I ordered this off Amazon, and it arrived very quickly. I decided to try using the 1oz size first, to test it out.
I was worried about this being very heavy, but I realized that it all depends on how much you choose to apply. It smells great, and has a very soft, whipped, almost..fluffy..texture. Very light, but it managed to provide the moisture I needed without making me feel heavy or greasy--in fact, it gave my face a nice glow. Makeup went on easier, too, since this actually doubles as a primer. But alas, it was too good to be true. It gave me those pesky little zits or whatever they are (they're really small and usually come several at a time in one area, you know what I'm talking about?), and so usage was discontinued. I'm kind of upset about that, because otherwise this would have been the perfect product. Sigh. Time to continue my search.

So glad I can finally get this in Canada! This moisturizer is my #1 favourite year round and especially during the winter. Feels gentle and nourishing with a light lovely scent. The best part about applying this at night is how different my skin looks in the morning. HG.
