I got this off a local online shop and mine seems to be part of the old stock. I use quite a big glob of this moisturizer and apply it using a patting motion. It has a fluffy, creamy texture and spreads out really well without any trace of white cast. There is balling up once the sunscreen starts to dry off so I just make sure to be quick in application; it's not a deal-breaker for me. This tingles a little when going on, but it's nothing uncomfortable. I am sensitive to chemical sunscreens and it's fantastic that Devita managed to make such a cosmetically elegant sunscreen for those of us who can tolerate only physical sunscreens. Only wish it was much easier to get hold of this where I stay.

I ordered this about a month and a half ago from Lucky Vitamin dot com and I got a 'good' one. It's not thick or streaky at all. Very lightweight and blends into my skin easily.

It doesn't make me oily throughout the day or break me out. On days when my skin is uber dry, I find this doesn't provide enough moisture, but those are rare occasions.

Excellent product, will buy again.

For reference I have combo/dry clog prone skin, somewhat sensitive.Unlike previous reviewers I've never tried the old formula so this review is for the new formula only.

I wear sunscreen most days and have a hard time finding a sunscreen that doesn't make me cloggy after a few days. Surprisingly after a few weeks of wear I have had no clogs or breakouts from this one, a seriously rare situation for my skin.

The price is on the high side at $20 - 24 for 1.7 oz.
Formulation is decently elegant as far as physical sunscreens go, but still not perfect. This sunscreen has to be patted/rubbed in relatively quickly or it starts to flake/ball up if you over rub. At NC30/35 I see no white cast other than spots that aren't fully rubbed in. For 19% Zinc oxide (non-nano) this feels quite light, little to no mask like feeling that can come from physical sunscreens. Finish is luminous matte on my skin, one of the few sunscreens i don't have to seal with powder to get a wearable finish.

I don't wear a full face of foundation, usually just spot conceal so I'm not sure if this plays well with buffing/rubbing or adding any other layer.

This was my favorite sunscreen until I received my most recent tube. Ugh! They changed the formula and as a result is has now become everything I dislike in a physical sunscreen. The old formula was very moisturizing with no white cast. The new formula is the exact opposite. It's pasty, drying and leaves a horrible white cast that no amount of blending can fix. In fact, if I blend too much it gets flakey and balls up on my skin. I wish it was a bad batch, but unfortunately it isn't based on some reviews prior to mine. Please bring back the old formula.

Looking for a replacement for my sadly discontinued "daylight savings" daily sunscreen (if anyone knows where I can buy some non-expired please message me!), I decided to try this when it was on sale in Whole foods on the vague memory that it was recommended on MUA as a good natural sunscreen. However, as noted by previous reviewers, a few minutes after applying this product white particles started to flake off my face. I tried mixing a few drops of argan oil before applying which helped a little, but not enough to stop the noticeable flaking (my sister observed that my face looked "crusty"). Perhaps if you are covering this with heavy foundation, this would not be a problem. Or if you always watched head and shoulders commercials with envy, wishing for dandruff. Otherwise, this product will leave you with white streaks and flakes on your face that are inappropriate for nearly every professional or social situation. Too bad because it has a nice ingredient profile and feels pretty good on (hence the two rating).

THEY CHANGED THE FORMULA!!! I am seriously disappointed and angry. This has been my go to SPF for years. My recent tube was different. Chalky, balled up on my skin, didn't absorb, left a white cast. I was like WTH?!? I searched online and found many other unhappy consumers. Apparently they changed their zinc supplier. At least that's the story Devita gave via email to those that inquired and complained. They said that the first batches weren't to their liking, but they were working on it and the newer batches should be better. THEY'RE NOT! That was in 2012. I want my old SPF back damn it! This was the only stuff that didn't break me out. I had to post this as fair warning for anyone experiencing this same problem. I've emailed the company, begging them to fix this. Please, if you loved this product as much as I did, please contact the company. Maybe if enough of us complain, they will fix it. Now I'm on the hunt for a new HG sunscreen. This sucks.

I have purchased this product over an over again. I really like it. I am African American with a very deep skin tone and I wear moisturizers with sunscreen on my face to help prevent hyperpigmentation which is common with people with dark skin as they age. I like this product because it does not leave as much of a white residue than other moisturizers that have sunscreen. I must say that the formula seemed like it was different in last batch I purchased and it did leave more of a white cast than the times I purchased it before however it still did not compare to the residue I've experienced with other sunscreens I just have to rub it in a bit more. A major plus with this product is that it is fragrance and dye free (I have sensitive skin) and it does not break me out at all ( I'm acne prone). Another huge plus is that it is all natural. I just wish that I could find it locally instead of having to order it over the internet and it was a little less expensive. I guess you cant have everything. Overall I really like this product :)

This is one of the best skincare products I have ever found. I have pale, sensitive, highly acne-prone skin. This sunblock applies easily, does not irritate, and really does its job. Because it uses micronized zinc oxide (not nano-tech, but still smaller particles), I think to ensure adequate sun protection it is necessary to apply a generous amount. However, I'm pale enough that this isn't a problem. In fact, my skin seems to love it so much, that I've actually started using it at night as a treatment this week. When I woke up this morning, my first thought upon looking in the mirror was "my skin looks amazing!" I have only been using this product for about a month, so I'll see how it goes, but I am thrilled to pieces at the results so far!

It is impossible to blend this on to my skin. I tried several times, but it never worked. It flakes and clumps immediately. I just couldn't believe it. I thought it was expired! I can't believe I'm reviewing the same product that others are saying is so wonderful.

I received a sample of this with my order of Chamomile cleansing cream, & I didn't like it all.

I knew about the warnings of the SPF on this product, but because so few commercial natural lines exist geared toward truly sensitive skin....I was more than excited about this moisturizer. An aloe base, with hydrating essentials like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, calming chamomile, physical SPF 30, and a light, as well as seemingly acne friendly formula...

The problem, however, was the texture. I found it nearly impossible to blend, even patting it on. I tried a little, and then a lot, and either way the zinc collected in my eyebrows and hairline. Not to mention it rolled terribly on its own and grabbed pigment (even under a silicone primer) making my skin look dry. Not a good base for makeup imo, and I can't trust it for SPF (due to the rolling), but it does get points for the ingredients and delivering some moisture to my moisture hungry skin.

Age: 19-24   Skin: Normal, Fair, Cool   Hair: Black, Straight, Coarse   Eyes: Brown

I've been using this for over 1 1/2 month. Since end of august to mid October. I have normal to slightly dry skin. This product go on very light, smooth and has this cool sensation. It doesn't leave a white cast and absorb quite fast. I've been using this without any make up or foundation.
So all was good, until I realize that I was getting much tanner.
True I've been out a lot more since school start, but I always choose the shade to walk under, cover my face with a binder, and stay indoor whenever possible. A little tanning is expected, but I have never tan this much this quickly in my life. So this leave me a bit disappointed.
I still like it a lot but i probably use it on my neck and go back to my Japanese sunscreen for my face :(. I think this will be better to use in the winter month though when the UVA/UVB rays are not as harsh.

update: i thought this wasn't a big problem before but now i think i should let some people know. My eyes get really watery when i apply this sunscreen. I dont get it in my eyes, the first few times i apply it, my eyes start twitching. It wasn;t so bad so i ignored it. Whenever I apply it my eyes start to get watery but it's not a real allergic reaction, it pass by quickly after the sunscreen dry so i didnt think much. But today when i put it on my eyes start to really twitch. It got red instantly and my eyes were watery. I could hardly keep it open. It feel like my eyes are burning and i got something in my eyes. Again it goes away after 30 seconds. I think my reaction get worse use after use. I was thinking about repurchasing this when i ran out, but i'm rethinking about that.

I am very fair, acne-prone with super sensitive combo skin. Without sunscreen I burn in 5 min. I've never burned with Devita and I've been wearing it for hours without reaplication (i know bad) in 90 degrees New York weather. It is god's sent, my HG moisturizer/sunscreen, I will never switch as it provides everything I could ask for. I don't get the negative reviews and completely disagree! Nothing comes even close to Devita Solar. I cannot wait till they'll release thier tinted SPF moisturizer that they are working on.

On my second tube. This product is my current favorite daily moisturizer with sun protection. Smells pleasant, lightweight, does not make me breakout, and works well under my BB cream. The formula moisturizes my combination skin adequately, and leaves no greasy residue. The only drawback is that the all-natural formula is not water resistant. If I plan to swim, I wear a different facial sunscreen.

Age: 19-24   Skin: Acne-prone, Tan, Neutral   Hair: Black, Curly, Medium   Eyes: Brown

I've just started using the product so I will update this review as time goes by.

As of now I like the product. It does not leave a white cast on my tanned skin which is usually a problem. The consistency is light without being too liquidy. It is neither greasy or oily which is great for my skin type. It also keeps my skin hydrated so I do not need to use moisturizer underneath. But best of all is that it did not irritate my sensitive acne-prone skin. I felt no irritation or stinging sensation when I applied it. I haven't used it long enough to determine whether it breaks me out or not, but time will tell.

It is also worth mentioning that this product is an all physical sunscreen with non-nano technology, which is a huge plus for me.

The only downside is that if you try to apply another layer after the first layer's absorbed it starts to ball up. Which leads me to believe that it would be impossible to wear under makeup. Tomorrow I will use more when applying the first layer and see if that helps.

Also I saw one reviewer saying that this did not block UVA/UVB at all so that might be a concern. I mean that's the entire reason I bought this sunscreen so it will protect me against the sun. If someone else has experienced that it does not block sunrays, I'd love to hear about it.

UPDATE: Using more of the product on the first layer will not make it ball up, yay!

This does not block out UVA/UVB rays. Tested it with special UVA/UVB paper and it did not block out any UVA/UVB rays at all. I also think the lack of an expiration date is strange. Maybe there is no sunscreen to expire?

Pretty good sunscreen! Its been sooo hard to find a facial sunscreen that isn't greasy/oily and does great under makeup and has PHYSICAL suncreen instead of all those avobenzone, oxolate etc. etc. types.

EWG rated this pretty good, but then apparently there was a tiff about vitamin A in sunscreen yada yada, but I still like this a lot.

No word on breakouts yet, it is the 2nd day, I know I should wait to review, but its really great for under your makeup! Prob not mineral makeup, but liquid or cream foundation. I feel protected and I can now face the day without having to worry about sun damage (i just started using sunscreen on my face..I know BAD BAD!)

I hope they keep making this stuff, will report back if it has any reactions on my acne prone skin!

I really like this product! Not greasy, not oily, looks 100% natural (black girls should use this one!). Very natural ingredients, has Zinc oxide, and it is Titanium Dioxide Free. NO NANO TECHNOLOGY! Normal (especially USA) products use sunscreens that sink into your skin and you have to wait 30min for them to change things -in your skin. Not healthy!!! So then there is Zinc oxide and Titanium Dioxide, most European sun care products use them. They don`t sink into the skin, no damage, more like they sit on the skin and block the sun, and you wash them off. Nice, but titanium dioxide I think is the one that gives you a white cast, so companies break down the molecules, therefore it does sink into the skin, so no good. That is nano-technology. Report: `A two-year study at UCLA's School of Public Health found lab mice consuming nano-titanium dioxide showed DNA and chromosome damage to a degree "linked to all the big killers of man, namely cancer, heart disease, neurological disease and aging`. So YES and YES and YES to DeVita! :-)))

This is a great, light-weight and hydrating SS for acne-prones. My skin can't handle silicones, so that eliminates A LOT of what I can choose from. This SS does the job for me, but I'm a tanner rather than a burner. This isn't water resistant AT ALL, so it's extremely easy to remove - I worry about protection when applying MU with a damp sponge, however.

Pros:
- Lightweight
- Hydrating
- Silicone-free
- Great for acne-prones
- No strong scent
- Easy to remove

Cons:
- Not water-resistant
- Not moisturizing on its own for dry skin/winter
- Compromised protection when applying MU?
- Balls up slightly if buffing in MU

I've repurchased this as it's absolutely lovely in texture and doesn't break me out. However, my worries about protection after MU application keep this from being HG.

I give 4 stars for the natural ingredients & the high % of zinc oxide without any white mask effect when applied on the face. I have acne prone skin so before I apply it to my whole face, I test it with 1/2 of my face to make sure that it does not cause break outs. Unfortunately, after using it for 3 days, 1/2 of my face had 5 cystic acne nodules & 1/2 of my t-zone was extremely clogged with blackheads. Because it causes acne on my face, I give it a 2 star rating at the end. I know this will be a great sunscreen for people with normal skin w/o acne issues, but perhaps people with acne prone skin should use with caution.

I love this sunscreen! I have searched and searched for a sunscreen like this and I've finally found it! It is all natural, goes on beautifully without drying my skin (Mychelle is a close second except that it is too drying), without leaving a white cast or a shine, and does not break me out or clog my pores! I really and truly have tried everything out there - mostly all natural - and this is the best. Holy grail.
