I'm really bummed they discontinued this, it's the best foundation I've ever used. It makes my skin look absolutely perfect, without any need for powder or touch ups during the day, and it doesn't break me out or set into dry patches. The lightest shade is absolutely perfect for my pale skin, and if I fall asleep with it on it even looks great the day after.

I am very picky when it comes to foundations, since I have acne-prone skin and am really careful with what I put on my face. I've tried lots of lots of high brand foundations and must say that this must be the one that I've been satisfied with overall...until lately. I have now been using it for a year, almost since I started using make-up. It held my face matte, blended out easily with my skin and really made me look great, but since I started on an acne treatment, I have noticed that the foundation reaaally dries out my skin. My skin is totally fine until I put the foundation on and then it just looks like a mask. It really made me sad, because this was a foundation I really loved. The coverage wasn't bad either, but it's unfortunately not buildable at all! Overall, I think this is a great foundation for those who have oily skin.

This foundation have a very strange formula. When I apply it on the bare skin it's hard to blend it evenly since colour "sticks" to the skin and I don't need that much coverage. When I using moisturizer under it stays on the top and smudges on my clothes, mobile phone, etc. My face looks oily in it and foundation disappear after couple of hours. At least it didn't block my pores.

I bought the shade #02 pale ivory (the lightest shade) and it's almoust lighter than my skin colour when is at its pailest point.

Pros:
-SPF15
-Very easy to spread and blend
-Available in a light shade and without a yellow undertone.

Cons:
-If you try to build up the coverage a tiny tiny bit it will cake. A lot.
-Staying power: Nonexistent. At least not with my oily/combo skin.
-Packaging: not practical, not cute.

I will never repurchase this foundation again. I swear!

Price: about 25€ for 30 ml

I use to use Multi Matte foundation until it got discontinued and was replaced by Truley Matte. It was the best foundation I have ever used and am still yet to find one that matches up to my expections. I have sensitive and very oily skin but dry in some areas. I started using Truly Matte and for the first year everything seems to be going well. However, I think Clarins may of added a new ingredient or something as I kept breaking out and it smeared off my face after a few hours!!! I don't see why they had to change things when it wasnt broken in the first place. Anyway rant over :-D

i love thisfoundation very much! its my new favorite and i cant leave the house without having the bottle in my purse.

I am NC20, quite pale with yellow undertones and i use shade number 5, "shell" and it blends amazingly good on my skin.

My skin is normal to combination and i have noticed that it does mattify AND lasts for quite a while, unlike other products.

5 stars from me and will definitely buy again

Pros: The colour actually was an exact match to my skin. The packaging felt cheep but I liked the dimensions and how compact it was.

Cons: I don't feel like this foundation is buildable. It starts out sheer but cake like at the same time. It didn't really seem to ever meld with my skin and when/if it did the foundation became translucent.
The smell is terrible. It reminds me of an old age home, a weird blend of floral and yetch.

I would never buy this again. The price is quite high and I feel like this performs and is packaged at a low-end, drugstore level.

This foundation is amazing for combo-oily skin. Finish is matte without looking dead, coverage is great without feeling heavy. The price is pretty comparable to most other dept store foundations.

I absolutely hate that they package it in such a cheap looking plastic bottle, considering none of their other liquids come this way. It makes it very easy to squeeze out too much, especially when the bottle is new and full.

The shade range is average, but be sure to go to a counter to get a mtach as the website is a terrible indication of colour.

I tried a sample of this for a few days. I wanted to love it, but I just couldn't.

Pros:
-Application: Went on very smoothly and easily.
-Staying power: It stays matte for hours on end and doesn't fade.
-Coverage: Provided me with high medium coverage, which is good for me because I have a bit of redness to conceal.
-Finish: Matte, of course. It also looked very natural, even in direct sunlight.

Cons:
-I can only think of one, which, unfortunately, is bad enough for me to not use this. It's extremely drying. I have combination skin; oily t-zone and normal everywhere else. My forehead and nose are partial to drying from strong products, such as toners. This is the first first foundation I've ever used that dried my skin. Within THREE DAYS of using this, my forehead and nose were flaky and my skin was tight all over. I know it had to be this. I know not to try more than one new product at once as I wouldn't be able to pinpoint which was giving me a reaction.

It's such a shame. Other than that, it was an almost perfect foundation.

Surprisingly, I'm pleased with this product. I got a sample from a friend in colour number 3. It doesn't seem to break me out and keeps me fairly matte. More matte than the Laura Mercier foundation for sure. Usually my skins gets a little oily at the forehead by noon but I'm really pleasantly surprised.

I'm considering buying this because it's the best foundation I've used so far in my search for the HG foundation (I'm trying to decide if I like this better than Nars Sheer Matte which I'm also really pleased with).

I love this product. This is the only foundation that does not break me out. However the only thing I don't like about it, that it does not last long at all. By 3-4 hours, my face becomes very oily and even blotchy. Unfortunately I haven't find a product that give me the look I want yet, so until then Clarins is my foundation

I have tried literally tons of foundations in my time, as I was desperately trying to find the right foundation for my blemish-occasional spot-milia and uber oily skin. To make it all that much worse, my skin tone is very fair and I feel every imperfections is even more visible than on lucky tanned skins... so after having tried lots and lots I settled for Lancome Teint idole ultra shade 02, which I used for approx 5 years, but this now sells at a jaw-dropping £ 27.50 and I needed to find something slightly cheaper. Well, the pursuit started again and after wasting quite a lot of money on the likes of Clinique, Estee Lauder and cheaper Revlon and Maybelline, I was given a sample of the Clarins Trully Matte foundation, and I must say this is a bit better than the Lancome Teint idole ultra and considerably cheaper as well. I'm not going to go as far as saying that this hides or eliminates my oill, because any of you ladies which have seriously oily skin know what there is NOTHING that can stop it, the best oil controlling products merely CONTROL the oil and reduce it somewhat. Basically this goes on the skin smoothly, doesn't have a powdery like residue on the skin (like most oil-free matte foundations I have tried) and doesn't look cakey. Of course it is visible you are wearing it, but Clarins do nice shades which suit most skin types and if I have it professionally recommended to suit your skin tone and you don't pile it on, it will look very natural. In the summer, you can blend this with Clarins' Ultra Matte regulating lotion, I promise it is the perfect partner. I've given this product a 4/5 rating, not because it isn't great, I actually think it is the BEST I have tried and I repeat I have tried LOADS, but I am quite a rigurous reviewer and I only tend to give a product a 5/5 if it's a miracle worker :)

I love this foundation. It provides medium to full coverage and is light and looks fresh. It does not clog my pores although i use it occasionally. It makes my skin look radiant and covers the spots and redness well. I do add a touch of concealer though and the result is perfect. It controls the shine well in medium heat, though i am not sure how it will fare in full summer. But overall a good foundation designed for combination-oily skin. For those with dry skin it may not be appropriate as it can be too drying,

I love the finish of this foundation. It's mat without being flat or heavy looking. I have it in 07 and it gives me a very natural look as well as being a perfect color match. It goes on well with fingers and lasts all day. I don't need full coverage and this blends in nicely and can be layered to cover any imperfections. I have some redness on my cheeks and it can be covered up without looking too made up. Some downsides are that it accentuates any dry or flaky bits and the container is not see through so I can't tell how much is left. It's also easy to get too much out of the tube. I find it is too drying for my combination skin in winter but in summer it's perfect. My first clarins foundation and I am so far really liking it. I might buy again if I don't come across anything else that impresses me.

I actually didn't think I would like this foundation, but I do! It's one of the few foundations in the city avaliable to me in a very light colour with a fuller coverage. I really don't like how unblendable it is, but it really does last and definitely IS mattifying. I find that I have to use a lot of product though to cover my face, which is a downside. It has a pleasant smell and I like how it is in a squeeze-tube. I would recommend this for girls only with oily skin, of course.

I am really happy with this. I just purchased it, and I never really used anything from Clarins, but I am glad I got this. I like the packaging, not sure why there are some complaints on here about it. This foundation gives a beautiful matte finish, a medium coverage, and blends flawlessly onto the skin. There are not a ton of shades to chose from, but they seem to be pretty true to skin colors, I use shade #02 now, but will switch to #03 in the summer. This is nice and long wearing, I do still use my oil blotting sheets, but afterward this foundation stays looking fresh and does not oxidize and change color through out the day, that is my biggest gripe in foundation, when it changes color after a few hours! I do use my NARS powder foundation as a setting powder (my favorite powder EVER!), and it gives a flawless coverage and air brushed porcelain look! I definitely recommend this to normal/combo skin girls, and it smells nice too! Very happy!

*** Update 3/8/11. I took some points away from this, because I feel like the oil control is not good for a foundation that claims to be oil controlling. I get shiny way too quick after using my blotting sheets, and go through them like crazy. I got Make Up For Ever's HD foundation and am loving that much more.

I am not a big fan of liquid foundation. For the most part, I prefer the coverage of a mineral powder foundation, which also seems to cause fewer breakouts that most liquids, especially in warm weather. But for those times when I want slightly sheer coverage or when my skin is a bit drier, I keep a liquid foundation on hand.

This one is pretty good. It has a natural-looking finish and doesn't seem to cause me problems (although I wear it only occasionally). I like that it is "light-reflecting" while being matte -- it gives the skin a bit of a glow, without looking like I have creamy goop on my face.

It is a bit pricey, but it performs well. I've also had good luck with L'oreal True Match, if anyone is looking for a drugstore product to try.

I had high hope for this foundation after using a little sample of it, it went on very smooth and provided great coverage without looking cakey, and lasted all day with only minor blotting (i have combo skin). I bought the full sized product and dislited the packaging (looks cheap, this plastic tube thing but at least its sanitary). After using this for a couple days I had horribly clogged pores, breakouts all over and this was the culprit. I investiagted further and i think this stuff has lots of silicones in it, hence the nice smooth feeling when it goes on. stay away if you are acne prone or have sensitive skin.

I recently purchased this product for my fair oily/combination skin and could not be happier, I LOVE how it looks and feels; this is a quality foundation that has well and truly earnt its place in my top 3 foundations.

I have fair skin tone and shade 03 (Clair Opale - Soft Ivory) is ideal for me. Lancome Teint Idole Ultra is another one of my top 3 and this one is comparable in regards to coverage, look, feel and price, although dare I say I am liking this one a little more than lancome at the moment (I often shuffle the order of my top 3!!) its just so easy to apply!

The packaging is a little off-putting, I agree it does cheapen the look of this product however don't let that be the one reason for putting you off , the packaging is functional and its easy to disperse the desired amount.

This would be a great product for beginners or someone breaking into luxury/high end make up for the first time. I can't seem to put this on wrong - I wear it light coverage for work and find even after 7-8 hours it still looks fresh and classy. For a more dramatic look, you can 'build' coverage, right up to what I would class as full coverage. The finish is always a lovely matte, but I have never found it drying or cakey.

This is the first foundaton I have tried from Clarins and I am well impressed; a great price can be found online. This has become a foundation staple and I always have a tube on hand - its failsafe - I highly reccommend giving it a try!
