it smells good, the texture of emulsion feels like it glides on the skin so well...HOWEVER
I have dry skin and it does not moisturize my skin..
It leaves a sticky feeling on my skin especially on my hands after applying the lotion. FYI I live in Inland Empire California considered to be a low humidity area.

It's kind of pricey, but it smell really nice, and I really wanted to love it. But after 5 days of use, it broke me out, and I have to stope it :(

It's 'ok' . . . which is not good enough for the price you pay! And the bottle looks like it'll be hard to get the last out of it. My skin isn't any better, not glowing or youthful or anything like that. That's what I wanted when I spent the money! I wouldn't buy it again. It hasn't made my skin any worse, that's about as positive as I can be. And you hardly need to use any so I will be using it up for ages and ages before I can try something new...

I really wanted to love this moisturizer but unfortunately it didn't do the trick. I only used it for 3 days so I can't say if it delivers on its promise to brighten, but what I can say is that it broke me out right away. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and chin -- it definitely helped moisturize and felt fresh on my skin but because of the terrible breakout, I've had to stop.

I work in a pretty dry office, my skin gets quite tight from the air. Thus after letting myself be convinced by the sales consultant, I decided to splurge on this product, combined with Anessa sunblock.

Unfortunately, this product only made my skin feel even tighter! A quick chat with a colleague had her commenting that Shiseido products often come with an overpowering alcohol scent (hinting at its high alcohol content), and that alcohol essentially dries out your skin. Not sure how many months of youth I've lost because of my use of this product.

I guess this works if you use this on your oilier bits/ have oily skin. My oilier friends think Shiseido's a godsend.

The best thing about this emulsion is how runny and easily absorbed by skin but that being said, it's not enough to moisturize your skin fully. More like something to use before you apply a NORMAL more hydrating moisturizer. I wouldn't buy this ever at its full price because there are other cheaper alternatives that give the same results. I have oily/combi skin and this never breaks me out even though my skin is pretty sensitive and acne-prone. In the morning, I use this then apply my moisturizing makeup base and sunscreen and my makeup looks good even after 5-6 hours. No dry patches etc. But at night, since I sleep in an a/c room, I have to apply serum and a night cream to make sure I don't wake yp with dehydrated skin the next morning. It's a nice product to have on your dressing table but not a must, especially considering the steep price.

I purchased this from the warehouse sale so it was quite cheap, however, I would probably pass if I were to pay regular price.

Although this does give my face a nice glow (mind you, this could be attributed to the White Lucent face wash, cleanser and softener), it doesn't moisturize my skin enough. I find the consistency to be quite thin and I usually have to use another moisturizer with it. I find that if I use this as a regular moisturizer (as some people apparently do) it's almost as if I wasn't wearing a moisturizer at all...its lasting power is a few hours at best. My makeup definitely doesn't look as good.

I will be buying this product again (at the next sale!) however, it is merely due to following the WL regime--which 100% has given me the coveted glow I've been looking for.

I've been using this for about 2 months now, and I don't really notice any difference to my skin. Although my skin is probably a tad brighter, the results are not dramatic or even that noticeable. It is also supposed to be a moisturizer, but the consistency is way too runny and thin to be moisturizing. For those ladies that are looking for a product that will whiten and brighten the skin, this may be a disappointment. This is not a cheap moisturizer, so for the price I paid, this is definitely not worth it. However, i'm giving it 3 lipsticks because it is not a terrible product, it is just not very effective in terms of brightening the skin tone.

I bought this product with a friend because she has been raving about it for a while. I bought it because it felt great when I tested it out on my hands, and figured I should give it a try since my friend loves it so much and she has great skin so I thought it might work for me, too.
WHAT A MISTAKE! I used it for about a week and loved that it was hydrating without being overbearingly greasy on my oily skin, but after a week, I started breaking out all over my face. It was as if somebody got red stickers and stuck them randomly on my cheeks, chin, and forehead. I was literally breaking out in places on my face I don't usually break out on. I don't have super sensitive skin or anything, so I was pretty shocked. I stopped using it for a few months and then decided that I would give it another try during fall, when I am less oily and my skin gets drier. I thought that maybe less oily skin might equal no breakouts. WRONG! I broke out all over my face again within a week! Tried this again a few weeks ago, only to go through the same ordeal.
Now I can pretty much say for sure that this product was the culprit for my nasty breakouts. After I stopped using it, my skin calmed down and went back to normal. So yeah, safe to say that I will not be purchasing this ever again.
I'm pretty bummed this didn't work for me since it is working wonders for my friend. She uses this and has the skin of a baby's bottom, so smooth and even! I guess it just depends on the person, but I seriously do not understand why my skin reacts so terribly to this emulsion. :/

I have been using this for about 3- 4 weeks maybe, so almost a month. So far as brightening effects go i can't really say i see any difference. I bought in a little set so i have been using the toner, serum and eye cream as well. The moisturiser leaves an oily residue on my skin, its definitly moisturising but it feels a bit unpleasant. i use this in the day time too, but under my sunscreen which feels heavy but it hasn't seem to clog my pores or anything. I do however wake up with beautiful skin. I think I will stick with shesiedo for a while but try one of its lighter moisturisers.

This isn't exactly my HG moisturizer (I'm still on the hunt) but I am really enjoying this moisturizer. I love the texture; it's very runny and light which is good for oily/combination skin. As for whitening properties, I'm not sure. I've been using this for about a year and haven't noticed dramatic improvement in any sun spots. However, I think once I'm done with this one I'm going back to my Neutrogena Rapid Clear lotion and try Lancome's Genefique as my anti-aging serum.

I have been using this emulsion for 3 months and I must say that my skin has never looked any better! The formula absorbs quickly and is non-greasy. I apply this morning and night and it suffices as a moisturiser for me. My skin looks radiant and smooth. I used to have patches of flaky skin on my noise and between my eyebrows, but those are gone now since this emulsion successfully evened out my skin tone and texture. Don't expect any spot-whitening properties from this; it only gives an overall brightening and glowy effect.
The packaging is an elegant glass bottle that is too heavy for my liking. I don't like lugging it around when I travel so I decant it into smaller containers.

This product is expensive but you can purchase it cheaper from eBay and from Shiseido factory sales! All in all however, it is worth the cost. I will definitely repurchase.

I found this to be an averaging moisturizer. It worked fine on my normal/slightly oily skin. I used this as a night cream and it smelled great and gave me enough hydration. As for the brightening effect, it is hard to tell, but I never expected a dramatic effect from brightening products.

Pro: moisturizing enough for my normal skin, smells good, lightweight
Con: it is hard for me tell how effective the brightening effect is.

Overall, I think I will buy this again.

UPDATE: It irritates my skin and causing my face to develop dry spots. Bottom line is, this is not moisuturizing enough for my nomal/acne prone skin.

Bought this cause I wanted to even out my skin tone after an episode of post breakup breakouts (also bought the softener). My skin looks fine not but I am not sure if the product is actually the factor since I find the product make my skin kinda sticky and oily looking so therefore I only use at night and the only reason I am still using it is because I paid so much for it. I was looking to invest in a moisturizer that I can use both day and night but this definitely does not even come close to cutting it. I have the bottle without a pump.. sucks because you can easily underpour or overpour. I thought Shiseido was for asian skin.. I have asian skin... so whyyyyy???????

I tried a sample tube of this in Hong Kong and liked it enough to buy the big glass bottle. I used that and like it enough to buy the pump bottle. (This product is a bit odd in that it is called slightly different things and packaged differently if you are buying in Asia, Europe, or the US.)

I have some pigmentation from sun damage on my cheeks and old zit scars on my chin/cheeks and while I don't think this stuff fades them, it does, upon application, even out skin tone and noticeably brighten me up. What I mean is I don't think the emulsion is doing anything beneath the surface to remove pigmentation, such that my naked face would show less pigmentation. But rather the emulsion's light reflecting properties or whatever evens out skin tone and brightens me up when applied on the surface.

It's not the greatest moisturiser ever; I definitely use a serum or something else under it. But I'm not using it for the moisture, but for the effect on my skin tone. It's a lightweight creamy lotion consistency that sinks in well and does provide SPF protection without being greasy. The glass bottle pictured is ridiculous packaging -- heavy and bulky -- although you can get pretty much every last drop and the glass is recyclable. The stuff I got in the US has a pump bottle that seems better. Yes, it's expensive, but it's available duty free if you're traveling, Sephora periodically has 15-20% off sales, and the Shiseido counters at dept. stores are pretty generous with the free gifts if you buy an expensive moisturiser or two. So, there are ways to cut the cost.

I don't really use this as a moisturizer but more like a serum before my regular moisturizer, Shiseido bioformance revitalizer. coz it's not moisturizing enough for me by itself. it does have good brightening effect as it's promised. i had a small patch of discoloration on my forehead from sun exposure/hormonal changes, and i almost freaked out. but since i rubbed this emulsion on twice a day for a week and it was gone! i was so happy it helped and continued to use it twice a day before moisturizer everyday. so it's a good brightening agent both for newly formed discoloration and prevention. it doesn't seem to help with the old freckles which i had for years though. i'll definitely keep buying it especially during summer months. one bottle lasts a very long time since i use it more like a serum. i just finished one bottle after 18 months and i'm re-ordering it again!

I am obsessive to skincare with brightening effects, but there is not many choice in the U.S. where people prefer tanned.
Although I really don't like its texture (to me, it is kind of sticky) it does brighten my skin. Don't expect anything dramatic, but it does work after some time.

I got mine from TJ MAXX for like 30 bucks which is way cheaper than then original price. I don't why some people don't like this product. I really do. I find it very moisturizing, and it absorbs into my skin very quickly. I have oil/combination skin. It doesn't break me out at all.

The only thing is... I use Lancome Genifique under this, so I don't which product exactly brightened my skin. But I definitely see a difference in my skin.

This product does not work well with my skin. Contrary to others who have commented on its ability as a moisturizer, I couldn't even use this as a moisturizer. It reacts badly to my skin, especially when I was trying to use it after a scrub (so my skin could absorb its "brightening" ingredients) and it inflamed my skin immediately. Therefore I don't have much to say about whether it does what it claims, because I haven't used it consistently for any period of time.
I don't like the texture of it, as other people have said, it leaves the skin feeling slightly sticky. I'd say the only thing I like about this product is the scent and the packaging.
To top it off, this product is extremely expensive. My poor boyfriend was definitely robbed by the saleslady :(
