Dior is the best if you want a rich red lipstick for yellow base skin tones. I am a nc20 or linen in ELDW.

The formula is amazing! I honestly have never found a drug store dupe for Dior lipsticks. Something about the formula creates a bold color that lasts. EXPENSIVE but worth it. Dior Rouge is not super moisturzing. Okay this is winter and my lips are really dry but in the summer this would be super moist. The pigmentation is perfection. I choose ARA RED 999 (Maybe this is an updated version of ROUGHE DIOR 999 CELEBRITY RED) I love the ARA RED 999 and am reviewing this one.

You do need a lipliner. I recommend one by Dior. It does not plump but I have yet to find a lipstick that really plumps the way they claim.

I needed something that I could have in a pinch to dress up. This the kind of red you wear with a pale face, mascara only and no eye shadow. The Classic elegant French look. A white t-shirt, jeans and light make up. Gawd, I wish I were 25 again. Perfect for the young and naturally beautiful. I love this red lipstick. It lasts and makes my lips look Gorgoeus. Thank you Dior.

This is an okay red lipstick. The colour is great, perfect for my yellow undertones, but slightly fair skin (NC20). It is a true red, meaning that it does not veer toward pink/rasberry territory. Therefore, its definately a going out/nighttime lipstick. I use this after I have outlined and filled in my lips with dior natural beige lipliner. Its texture is nice and creamy.

However, I found that its staying power is not long, maybe 3 hours if you are lucky...It does tend to bleed a little even with lipliner and often leaves the dreaded red ring around the lips after drinking/eating which looks atrocious.
The packaging is elegant...what do you expect? It's Dior!

However, for the aforesaid reasons I won't be repurchasing... I prefer the texture and hyper pigmented red found in Diorific lipsticks (and the red shade is glorious-try 014 for a true fire red or play it safe with a more rasberry red, in 013...I have both and am in love with the textures of diorific)

I got this shade by mistake, as I was looking for the shade Beluci wore on an ad (644). I was so disappointed when I went home and put it on, and for a little while I dared not wear it. But something on it amazed me... so I went and bought the matching Dior lipliner, No 833. I lined and filled my lips, applied the lipstick lightly with a brush and... magic!

It is such a gorgeous red, a night-out red, but amazingly also an everyday, morning red. Neither blue nor orange-y. I pair it with the softest dusty lilac on the eyes and it is a dream for my morning office makeup.

The packaging is OK. I am so happy it does not have a mirror! Closes safely and looks elegant in my handbag. I bought it by 25% off on sales, otherwise I might not spend that money on a lipstick.

The formula is not drying, but paired with the liner my lips get a little chappy after about 3-4 hours (nothing that 15 minutes of balm can't fix). It glides so smoothly and does not run, even without liner, providing I apply with a lip brush.
I can still see the lines on my lips, maybe because I use a thin coating, and I do not perceive any plumping effect, as the ad says. But I feel my lips somewhat softer after I take it off (if worn alone).

All in all, a colour that scares me every time I look at it, but has me reaching for it every other day. Definitely a staple in my collection. I even think I would repurchase before it completely finishes - just to be sure I am never without it.

This is my favourite red lipstick - I love it and it's my standby when I go out at night. I'm Indian & have tan skin - it looks fantastic on me. I'd definitely recommend it for Asians/Indians - anybody who has yellow undertones to their skin.

With the help of a Dior make-up artist I found the perfect red shade for my warm skin tone. The quality is great too and it was still on my lips after I had dinner. It is just PERFECT.

My HG red lipstick. My highly pigmented pink lips require that I wear a red that has no blue or pink tones whatsoever, and this fits the bill. It's a perfect tomato red, and the finish is creamy and satiny. The wear is very lightweight and comfortable, not drying at all, but it stays on all day. It's so hard to find reds that don't make you look like a tart or like a pin-up wannabe, and this is just perfect. So classy!
Yes, 30 bucks is expensive for a lipstick, but you get what you pay for. I believe that the perfect red lipstick is worth the investment, and it sure beats drugstore trial-and-error! Pretty packaging is always a morale booster too. :-)

This is my first ever RED lipstick. First, I'm more a lip gloss person. Second, I ware very natural make-up stile. So to try this was very crazy for me. But once I tried it I could not believe how good does it look on me.
Still under impression! It gave me a new very different ME.
Texture and long lusting are just great. Not too greasy not too drying - just perfect.
Thx Dior!

probably one of the best reds out there. very flattering to most skintones (looks especially great on more fair skin tones-my nc20 best friend looked beautiful in it).
the reason i give it 4 is that for the expensive price it should last longer than what it lasted on me. after 2 hours it was already starting to look lifeless...but still, greast color.
wont repurchase cuz i can get an equally great color from mac (i'm a mac whore, sorry!) that will last longer on my lips.

I echo all the positive sentiments below about this lipstick. I love red lipsticks and have many, including many warmer reds like this one is. However, this is definitely THE best one, not too orange or brown, lightweight yet long-lasting. This particular red manages to freshen up the face and not make you look older like some reds can. I get complimented on it every time I wear it, which is now pretty much always.
I wish Dior had a matching nail polish (apparently they did around the holidays but it was LE and is no longer available) as I'm one of those people that absolutely adores matching lips perfectly with the nail polish. I did manage to find a very close match, although not by Dior but by YSL, it's called Opium Red.
Great lipstick, glamorous in an approachable way!

This is a vibrant red - bordering on tomato red - that somehow doesn't come across as too bright OR with any blue undertones. It is a classic shade that is not jarring against my skin tone (nc 25, blue eyes
and light auburn hair). I don't have to apply a gloss over to tone this down. Overall, it's a gorgeous red that applied once is perfect for day.
Out of a dresser top full of red lipsticks this is in my top 5.

I actually got this color by mistake. I had purchased one, and when I looked in the box, I realized that somewhere along the line they`d put this one inside a differently-numbered container.Oh well - turns out this one was definitely much better.

I am so sick of this blue-based reds that look more like berries. This one is a true red-red, but without the matte finish of the authentic vintage look. The result is that your lips do not dry out, but you get that beautiful hint of gold. The perfect red for an updated Vintage look. Beautiful.

WOW! I said... WOW! this is what my mouth was uttering alone when I first wore this FABULOUS shade of lipstick!
I have 6 shades of Rouge Dior, and one of those is this GORGEOUS 999 Celebrity Red (which is the exact shade Monica Bellucci was wearing in the AD whe it first came out).

the formula is SO rich, moisturizing! They made marvels on that... & the pigments last forever, they do not fade, no creases... they do not run over the lip lines.
It is GREAT, especially if you consider that intense pigmented reds are difficult to wear or they go on your teeth or they run around ..Well, not the case with this one. It stays forever, it makes your teeth look whiter, it gives you this diva allure!
I am used to wear this in the evening... but just because i am a shy girl! Give it a try, you'lll love it.
I am definitely a huge fan of this product!

O my latest headlong lipstick love—instant and lasting HG status! Dior Rouge 999 Celebrity Red / Rouge Vedette is a spectacular fiery red, very similar in hue to the Diorific 014 Dolce Vita Rouge... but in THE most gorgeous feather-light, beautifully moist, longwearing formula ever since the Chanel Infrarouge line. The texture is *flawless*: silky-rich and powerfully pigmented; the finish is a low-sheen satin. Utterly beautiful! I used this every single day for a week when I first purchased it, just for the sheer pleasure of wearing it! I can't wait to purchase the 752 Rouge Première shade now! My one cavil is the phenomenally uninspired packaging... oh so tediously functional, in an ugly shade of purple'd blue with touches of chrome; really, this is the oddest combination of vulgarity and dullness. I do miss the rich blues and golds of the old Dior cosmetic packaging—opulence with a cheeky wink.
