I really cannot believe they discontinued this product, it was my summer time fav, they have replaced it with a silimar serum which is 1/3 of the amount you get when you purchase this one, I have not tried it yet but I already miss this, was going to replenish my empty bottle and it is gone : (

Similar outcome on my face to the SkinCeuticals B5 Gel, however this product does offer a plethora of ingredients in comparison. Including fragrance, unfortunately. Anyway, down to the results:

Not hydrating enough, even though the label states it's for all skin types, so quite frankly if I have relatively oily skin and I'm left feeling dehydrated, I suppose what PTR should be stating is that this product is intended for oily-to very oily skins. My face was left feeling taut, make-up applied over it looked blotchy and dry patches were illuminated. The texture is unpleasantly sticky.

What?! D/c'd? That's just WRONG PTR! Wah. OK even if it's d/c'd, I'm still offering up my comments, juuuuust in case you wander upon an unused bottle for sale on eBay or something. This product is a reasonably priced gel that works wonders. As the labeling says, you can use it on its own (instead of a "traditional" moisturizer) if you have oily skin. You can layer it under your moisturizer if you have drier skin. It is a hydrator, not a moisturizer - and my aethetician (when promoting another hyaluronic acid-containing product) made sure to note that they are not the same thing. Presumably, one of the critical ingredients is sodium hyaluronate (the salt of hyaluronic acid), which is extremely hygroscopic, meaning that the molecules (actually, the hyaluronate in this case - or the hyaluronic acid in other products) will hold onto water molecules like label fiends hold onto their Louis Vuitton bags. The aestheticians will tell you that each molecule holds some large number of water molecules (yeah, I forget the number), thereby assisting your skin in staying hydrated. Aside from the real chemistry - I can attest that this stuff is a lovely addition to my skin care routine. Generally speaking, good hydrating gels - like this one and another one I tried from a spa line - help your skin look good with or without makeup. They typically work with a moisturizer and sunscreen and foundation and don't add problems - heaven knows that things are already pretty complicated with the many layers of cr*p that we put on our faces. The packaging notes that this is "oil-free with whole leaf aloe vera liposomes, vitamin A, provitamin B5, and .. vitamins C and E". Excellent product. I can only hope that - as they phase this one out...that PTR is coming up with something even better.

What??? They are discontinuing this gel? Pardon me but I find that shocking because of 2 reasons: 1- I just bought this several days ago from Clini7 salon and 2- I am really in love with it that I am hailing it as my first HG. My only gripe is the bottle container but I guess it is useless now that this will be d/c soon. This gel has:

1. The classic texture of aloe vera gel (but with 10x more hydrating power and is absorbed very fast);
2. The smoothness-effect of Skinceu's B5 gel (without the tight-face feeling);
3. The healing properties of Sisley Restorative Facial Cream (without the grease)
4. The hydrating effect of La Mer cream gel (without the stupendous and insulting price tag)

Whenever my face feels red, stingy and raw, especially after too much exfoliation or after abusing my PTR Unwrinkle Peel Pads, nothing...I repeat nothing...calms it faster and better than this gel. I also love the fact that I can put as much or as thick as I want and it will all be absorbed into my skin. I love doing this at night and wake up to smooth velvety skin or whenever I feel like really loving my skin because this is what you will feel about your skin the minute you spread this gel on your cheeks. My skin is very comfy and plump with this product. TRULY EXCELLENT. I guess I have to go back to the salon and stock up on this.

UPDATE: This is HG material for someone with combo/oily, sensitive and highly-reactive to oil skin like me who lives in hot weather all year round. I use this every AM and PM now. This gel is the most friendly one with my clarins s/s. I can see this working as wonderful with any mattifying s/s. Nourishes my skin like nothing else and did not cause any break out. I also noticed that I do not need to repeat retouching with powder/fdn when I have this on, one retouch at 1pm lasts till 9pm. Can't rave enough.

This gel feels very similar to aloe vera. It is not greasy, but it will leave a smooth shine on the skin (though will be matte to the touch). I use it at night, since there is no SPF. I bought this for the anti-oxidants, and it is my go-to treatment after sun exposure. I used to work in NYC and I used this all the time at night to try to counter-act whatever I was exposed to throughout the day. I have absolutely no idea if the anti-oxidants in this gel actually do anything, but I feel better thinking they might. This is not very moisturizing, but it isn't drying either. It is about as moisturizing as aloe. It does not irritate my sensitive skin. I use this for the antioxidants and as a light night moisturizer if I'm breaking out.

This is my new night cream that is a light weight gel indeed. Absolutly super for my oily skin, absorbs fast and is hydrating. Does not make me more oily and I stay matte and normal much longer than any past nightcream that I have used. Has not made me break out or clog my pores.
I think all skintypes can use this, the dry ones can use this as an extra hydrating serum, and we oily can use it alone.
Only wish that it hade an spf, so I could use it as a daycream. Love the packing, both the design and the pump, you get exactly enough and the packing keeps the antioxidats stabil.

At the beginning I didn't know whether or not to like this product since I had purchased many different moisturizers and this was only one of them. Then when I started to get a really bad round of breakouts, I started using the PTR AHA/BHA acne gel. That gel had a surprising amount of alcohol and my face started stinging a bit afterwards. I then applied this product and my face all of a sudden felt SO much better. No more stinging, no irritation. And of course, no greasy residue. WOW. No way am I returning this to Sephora.
********* UPDATE ********** This thing is truly amazing. I once over-washed my face and my skin started to feel very very unhappy -- irritated and stinging a bit -- and I put this on and it calmed my entire face down, almost on contact. This is by far the very best moisturizer for oily skin I have ever used.

This is one of my staples and I'm on my 4th or 5th bottle now. It's oil-free gel and might not be moisturizing enough for dry skin, but it's perfect for oily skin like mine! Moisturizing and gentle, it makes my skin supple without leaving any greasy shine. Won't breakout either. I usually use it alone in summer and with other richer products during winter time.

My only complain is the glass bottle with pump. When there's only a little product left, it's very hard to get things out. Even when I take the pump off, it does't help a lot because the bottle opening is so narrow. I wish I could squeeze or cut the glass bottle!

Been using this for just over a week and it's doing what I want it to. Giving me just enough daytime moisture with no side effects. My skin is going through a horrendous bout of hormonal acne. Any product with 'cones' (which I'm sensitive to at the best of times) or too many additives causes more breakouts -- this doesn't.

It's gentle, spreads easily (use very little - you don't need much), no scent that I can pick up.

This may not be moisturizing enough for people with dryer skin, but for me it's working so well. I'll always have it on hand.

I have switched to using all PTR items and so far am having good results. I haven't had any iratation to any one of them I am using and I wait at least a week before leaving a review on here so I have a feel for the item. I really like this gel. I have a fight going on with my skin, I am oily here and there at times and dry other places so it is hard for me to find a cream that isn't too oily and something to hydrate me, well this works great. I put it on before applying any of my other products and it seems to lay groundwork for everything else and I have applied it more than once a day when I am feeling dry and never feel oily. It is doing it's job!

I have normally oily, acne-prone skin but am using prescription meds from my derm (differin) so my skin is now dry, flaky at times and very sensitive. It's been a huge challenge for the past YEAR in finding a moisturizer that doesn't burn, doesn't slide off my face, doesn't make me oily or greasy and REALLY feels like it's hydrating. I have tried MANY DS and HE brands and found NOTHING I liked - so I just stopped using moisturizer all together. Of course my skin suffered. Then one day while at Ulta the rep recommended this and I love it! FINALLY something that moisturizes my sensitive dry/irritated skin. It's lightweight, does NOT have a greasy feel and sinks right in quickly - it's like my skin is literally drinking it up! Got rid of my flakies in a day or two and keeps them at bay. It's a bit pricey, but WELL worth it since it works! I am sure it's not for everyone, but for me, it is my new HG (along with PTR oil free moisturizer w/spf for day and PTR's buffing beads).

i was plesantly shocked that a gel can hydrate as well as my regular moisturizer. i decided to try this for the summertime because my usual caudalie can sometimes fell a bit to heavy and i don't always need the full hydrating benefits. i didn't expect this product to really hydrate my drier areas. how as stated above, i was very surprised. this product hydrated any drier areas without making the oiler ones worse. i decided to read about the product to see why a gel formula was able to do this. it all made sense when i read that it has a small amout of hylauronic acid in it (an ingredient that has been said to be able to hold ~1000 times its weigh in water). so its bringing the water and hydrating back to the dry areas without adding undue hydration to oily areas. an added bonus is that i never broke out from using the product and i love the hygenic pump dispenser. i don't know how this product would work in wintertime but in the summer i am in love with it.

I have rather dry and dehydrated skin. I decided to use it as a night cream. Strange as it sounds to use a gel for dry skin, but the more i used it the more i got attached to it. I sampled other products, and this one is the only one that didn't break me out. The HA in it really did the trick. I love PTR's old-school approach to skincare. This was a fabulous product.

I wanted to like this moisturizer so much that I returned to it twice. It has a very simple ingredient list, which really attracted me to the product. But both times that I used it I found it drying, especially when I used it on damp skin. I believe it was the hyaluronic acid. I've also used Skinceuticals B5 gel and it has the same drying effect on my face. Apparently HA does this to some skins - I'd love to know why. This gel did work a little better for me when I used it on dry skin.

I also suspect this moisturizer may have caused breakouts, but that could have just been a reaction to my skin being irritated by the drying effect of this product.

FYI: I have acne-prone, combo-oily skin that I treat with Retin-A gel. I was looking for a moisturizer to combat the dryness that the Retin-A causes.

I purchased this to use a summer moisturizer, my La Mer was too rich, and this seemed like a good choice as I had combination skin. It's not at all dry, just oily T zone and normal everywhere else.

But this product did not moisturize at all! It left my skin quite dry and I actually thought it reeked of alcohol. It left my skin really tight as well. It was not a good base at all for makeup, especially mineral makeup.

Disappointed.

This is a great hydrator for oily or combination skin. It is one of the few products I've used that keeps my skin from getting dry but does not cause breakouts from any excess oil or heavy moisturizing ingredients. I use this product every night on its own and in the morning I mix it with a slightly heavier moisturizer in the winter. It has done a wonderful job of rehydrating my skin - I've used for a little over a year now. One bottle lasts a long time (6 months for me and I use twice a day).

I have only been using this for a couple of days, but I thought I might give a little overview of what I thought so far. Anyway, I'm extremely picky when it comes to moisturizers. I want the moisture and hydration but absolutely despise any sticky feeling or oily residue!! I have combination skin with an oily tzone and I'm always looking for the perfect moisturizer. I've been using this as my day lotion underneath my make up. I love the consistency of the gel and I don't find it to be sticky. It's very pleasant upon application and sinks right in to my skin. My skin feels soft and hydrated but never greasy or shiney, and is perfect underneath make up. I find that my skin does not get AS oily as it normally would throughout the day. I can't say 100% it's thanks to this product, but it's a safe bet. So far, no breakouts or pore clogging. I give it 4 lippies and might bump it up to 5 if everything keeps up! I'll be back to update you all!

I have very oily, acne-prone skin, which I treat with Retin-A. I would not need a moisturizer if not for the dryness caused by the Retin-A. After I wash my face in the morning, it feels a little sore and sometimes looks slightly red. If I don't use moisturizer, and just apply sunscreen and foundation, the skin on my chin and around my nose starts to flake by lunchtime. I've tried many other products, including Neutrogena and Olay oil-free moisturizers, but nothing worked. Either they didn't moisturize sufficiently to prevent flakes, or they made me break out, or they left a heavy, shiny film. This product has the perfect amount of moisture: my skin looks soft and doesn't flake at all. The effect lasts all day, and it also soothes the Retin-A irritation. I use it on damp skin right after washing and let it dry for a minute before applying sunscreen and/or foundation. The gel formulation feels light and completely disappears into my skin. There is almost no scent (that has also been a problem with other products) and the pump dispenser is hygienic. I'll definitely keep using this.
