I only came around to the wonder that is MAC just recently, even though I love the eyeshadows I have been extremely disappointed in most of their lipsticks. So drying! On a recent girlfriend shopping trip I stopped into the CCO and ran across this. Amber Russe is the perfect shimmery, mauvey, MLBB color. I love it because it's super emollient, is surprisingly long lasting, and yet it manages to accomplish the first 2 tasks without being sticky or thick. This has made a permanent home in my purse!!

I bought this when it was last repromoted and I love it! On me, it has the same effect as mixing sunpepper pigment with a clear gloss, without the hassle. I think lipgelees are a great value because they last quite a while, even with frequent use, and they're in a tube, which I much prefer over other l/g packaging. I hope they repromote this, I will definitely buy 2 or 3 more tubes if they ever do!

One word: tacky. The gloss formulation itself is very lovely, moisturizing, doesn't leave any white stuff around my lips, lasts for a good amount of time. But the dealbreaker, and the reason why I gave it only 1, is the color and the (HUGE) amount of glitter in this gloss. It never happens with the other lipgelees, such as goldensoft, jellybabe, moistly, but this one contains enough shimmer to make your lips look metalic and manages to make them gritty. Overall, I'm glad they discontinued it.

I'm disappointed in this product. The colour is OK but I find the texture very very thin and not moisturizing at all. It's like the product just sort of disappears into my lips after a few minutes. Mind you it is winter here and very dry, but even with lipbalm on underneath this is still happening. WTF? Where is it going? I know I'm not licking it off because I'm not a fan of the vanilla smell of MAC lip stuff... I know I'm in the minority there. but it's just too strong and fake to me.

Had I know this was such a sheer gloss I probably would have passed. Amber Russe is a soft plummy shade with a subtle metallic shimmer. My gripe is that on its own, its barely noticeble. But it is great for enhancing a lipstick and you do get quite a bit of product for the money. Wears off pretty quickly. If this is an item you have been wanting to try or its a HG for you, MAC just sent Amber Russe to the Goodbye section. So grab this while you can.

Lipgelee's are so fun! Dontcha think?? I love the sticky texture of Lipgelee's, but wish they lasted longer. They don't offer as much full coverage as Lipglasses, but are still great. Amber Russe is a frost, and is a muted plum brown with silva sparkles! Supa prettie! I love it, I will repurchase, if still available when I need it!
Amber Russe: Top Lipgelee

A beautiful sheer, pinky mauve with a light shimmer.
Goes on smooth with no stickiness, and is long wearing.
One of my favorite M.A.C products!

So so so pretty! It's different than any other gloss I have tried. The texture is amazing, it goes on smoothly with absolutely no stickiness. It stays on pretty good, several hours for me. The scent is vanilla like most mac lippies, it's like heaven to apply.
The color is absolutely gorgeous. It's like clear gloss with particles of pink and silver shimmer floating around, but a lot of them so the gloss itself looks very pigmented in the tube. (kind of hard to describe). When you apply it it looks so beautiful, it adds the perfect amount of color and shine, like naturally pink and healthy lips.
I will definitely repurchase this.

I LOVE this Lipgelee. For me, Lipgelees are perfect because 1) they're super moisturizing, which is important for my constantly chapped lips, and 2) I do prefer sheerer lip looks as opposed to extremely pigmented lips. I love applying Lipgelees, as they are extremely soothing to the lips -- they really do go on in a jelly-type fashion. Also, unlike Lipglasses, they are not sticky at all. Amber Russe is my favorite out of all the Lipgelees. On my NC35, Asian skin, Amber Russe is a gorgeous sheerer plummy color that packs just the right amount of color to my lips. I've gotten many compliments with this on!

This is my favorite lipgelee! I had a MAC makeup artist suggest this to me; I have dark hair and fair skin (MACs NW20 for reference) and the lipgelee makes my lips look very full and the color looks great. The only downside is that since it is a gloss, it doesn't have the staying power of a lipstick. I would definitely buy this again!

This is a pretty color it's a shimmery pink and silver shade. It does not last like regular lip glass but at least you get a lot of product in the tube. If used with a liner it helps it last. It looks great over lipsticks too.

This is my most fave lip stuff right now, and I'm a lip gloss addict. The feel of this is so smooth. It's so addicting! This is my everyday lip gloss. The color in the tube looks dark and glittery, but when applied, it is very sheer and leaves your lips shiny and slightly shimmery. The staying power isn't the greatest, but with the way it makes my lips feel, I don't even care. I still love it! I plan to buy many more shades.

I loved this color in the tube its a berry kinda color but that shade doesnt last on the lips for more than like 10 minutes. so i was very disappointed. The glossy effect lasts a while though . Its pretty but not the shade i was expecting . Ill continue to use it but wont buy another when it runs out.

Im usually more into the Lipglasses but wanted to try a lip gelee. This doesnt have good staying power but it does look nice when I first put it on. It's a very natural nudey shiney natural lip look. I'd say it looks like my natural lip color, only more shimmery and "awake". If you are pale like me with pale lips, this will definitely give you a "kick" without looking colorful or gaudy.

I have so many MAC lipglasses, so I wanted to try the Lipgelees. I picked this color because I didn't want another beige nude or pink nude color like all of my glosses, but I still wanted a nudish color. This one has purple undertones, so it looks absolutely beautiful on my pigmented lips. I paired this with a deep plum liner and it polished off the look. My lips still look natural and not so chalky. I also like the consistency. It's definitely not like a lipglass. It's a thinner consisteny and it doesn't stay as long as the lipglasses, but the liner helps it stay longer. So pretty and super shiny.

This is pretty, a more workable shimmery lipgelee. I like it quite a bit, though I don't wear it often. I have issues with this formula! It's moisturizing but it's slimy feeling and I just can't get over it. I find that the shimmery lipgelees are less slimy and more workable.

This is very sheer and not as glittery/shimmery as it looks. I use this almost daily when I'm on a quick run or going to class and don't want to look washed out. The sheerness of Amber Russe brings back my natural lipcolor so it's not for those who want an extreme pop of color.
It's LE so I can't repurchase but I swear a lot of lipgelees look similar so I'm sure I'll find something else like it. I don't like plastic slant applicators and the squeeze tube can be messy but the moisture-lock and comfort of this is worth it.

This gloss is really awesome. It feels very creamy. It also has a nice light vanilla scent. It looks scary shimmery in the tube, but when I put it on it doesn't look too shimmery. On my pigmented lips it's just a tint of plum color with a bit of a silvery sheen. I couldn't pass this up when I tried it on. One thing though - it looked odd when I paired it with some warmer eye shades, so I will keep this for my cool makeup days and wear something else for those "bronzy" days.
Update: I think this will only work in the winter when my skin is the most fair. I tend to not wear this as often as I had hoped.

Amber Russe is gorgeous! It reminds me a lot of Sunpepper pigment worn as lipcolor (which I love!) Amber Russe isn't as iridescent, though & a pinch more berry than Sunpepper. In bright light you can actually see some of the same aqua iridescence that Sunpepper has, but it's not visible once on lips. Amber Russe is a medium muted berry plum w/ a hint of brown in the base color. There is a silvery sheen to it, but it's not overly cool.I'm NW20 w/ naturally plummy pigmented lips, so Amber Russe is a MLBB shade for me! Love it!

Color looks plummy in the tube. When on it looks VERY similar to the way Pink Clash lipglass looks. PInk Clash is one of my favorite lipglass's. Only this is a sheerer version of PInk Clash. I don't see plum or brown when it's on my lips. Not at all. It's a nice neutral anyone-can-wear-it color. GORGEOUS. I would say this color is Who's That Lady's significant other. They are both that gorgeous and wearable by all. Get it while you can...I think they've already discontinued this, tho... :-( Figgers.......
