I bought this facial cleanser after my younger sister showed it to me in Target and told me that it had helped her breakouts heal and faded acne scars within weeks. We have pretty similar skin, combination-oily, with hers being a little more acne prone on the cheeks and mine misbehaving on my forehead and chin. So, I couldn't help but feel a bit hopeful when I saw that her complexion was definitely (and obviously) clearer, with a more even skin tone and no acne. I picked up this cleanser hoping to get the same results. However, I also use this in conjunction with their fade cream (for oily skin), so results may vary.

This cleanser is the truth. If you have darker skin (I only say that because darker skin is more prone to hyperpigmentation and acne scars) and you're looking for something to fade stubborn scars, this is the cleanser that will do that. If you want it to even out your complexion and help get rid of acne, this does that as well. I've been using it every morning (with the fade cream) for exactly a month and my skin is noticeably brighter, my scars are significantly lighter, and...well, it does what it says it will do. It doesn't dry my skin out, but I don't know how it would be if I used it twice a day and not once. It's wonderful at removing makeup. Also, the price is reasonable. It's an HG now for me and deserves five lippies.

BTW, if you use the fade cream with this, don't be a smart ass like me and try to use it over your entire face instead of just on the scarred areas (what the directions say to do). My face has gotten a bit lighter overall, even to the point where my makeup doesn't blend quite right if I'm not careful (I might have to go get some more in lighter shades :-\) so yeah, keep that in mind.

Keep in mind I use this as a part of an anti-aging regimine, not acne. I'm not really fond of the foaming pump thing, but I like the cleanser. Because I'm used to a lotion-style cleanser consistency, the foaming consistency seems a little thin-ish. I use several pumps to get my entire face. However, I realize I may be using too much. I could see results in my pores within 2 days! I have used salicylic acid (which works as a chemical exfoliant) in toners and astringents, but for some reason I see better and quicker results with the cleanser. Love how it reduces the pores on my face, and in time it should brighten my skin tone some.
UPDATE: 2 weeks later I can see a brighter complexion looking back at me in the mirror - especially on my neck!!!

I like Ambi products, so I gave this a try when I had a coupon. It is pretty much the same as the Aveeno foaming cleanser, except it smells different. Light, non-irritating cleansing with just enough acid to get into the pores and minimize oil, but not leave your skin too dry. This whole line has the same annoying perfumey smell, but it works. By itself, it's just ok, but used in conjunction with the exfoliating wash, it works really well.

I was really hoping to like this product more. I went through two bottles and did not see much of a difference in my skin tone. I also used the matching sunscreen/moisturizer and it didn't really work for me. It didn't keep my skin clear nor did it help even out my skin tone. I did like that it didn't over strip my oily skin and it removes make up very well. I probably won't buy it again but I do have a bottle around as a back up if I run out of my usual cleanser.

This product works great. I've tried so many products and this is the best. I've had very oily and acne prone skin since I was 13 and have even been on medications for my skin from the dermatologist, but nothing would help. Now my skin is clear and no break outs. I highly recommend this.

I needed something that would even out my skin tone and found Ambi. I liked the face that it was marketed for people with darker skin, so I thought it would be perfect for me. This stuff makes my skin SO dry. I would use it every night and my face would feel like sand paper afterwards. I even bought the matching moisturizer, but it didn’t help.

Plus after weeks of using it I didn't find it was doing its job. My skin still had dark spots on it and didn't look any better than when I had started.

I would not buy this stuff again.

I really was excited when I saw the raving reviews for this project. Women of color with acne? I'm half-black, and my little bumps have been leaving me with the peskiest scars even when I don't even touch them! I thought this cleanser would be a godsend. WRONG! I used it for about two weeks and ended up with worse acne than before! I had a ton of small, flesh-colored bumps but not I have some inflamed pink ones too that hurt. Yay. The exfoliating version at least made no difference to my difficult skin. Sigh, gotta keep searching...On the one hand this cleanser was at least very cheap. Maybe I was just expecting a miracle...A homemade apple cider vinegar mask is much more beneficial to me than this cleanser. :(

This is the absolute BEST cleanser for women of color with oily skin or acne scars. I have been using this since it was first introduced. There was a small period of time when I couldnt find it and my skin definitely suffered. I could totally tell the difference. When I found it again I bought 4.

As a woman I have tried so many different types of cleansers, and as an African American woman with dark skin I have had a hard time finding a product that worked. I have oily skin that is prone to acne. I have found that after using a product to clear up my acne I would be left with ugly scars rather I picked at the pimple or not. Ambi Even Clear Cleanser does exactly what it says. I have been using it for about six months now. It cleared up my acne as well as evened out my skin tone without leaving my face dry. Ambi has a line of products that are spcifically for Women of Color and its the only skin care line I use.

I have been using this for a couple of years now. I use it now and then when I start to get a break out. I had no idea this was made for dark skined people, but it works great for me!
It gets rid of pimples without over drying out your skin. I like that it is a foam also.

I LOVE this. I pay attention to my scars and ever since I used this, they disappear without a trace. I'm like... wow. Amazing. Feels foamy nice too. Flawless skin, smooth skin, scarless skin... this product grants it. I'm black so acne scars seem to pop on my face, BUT NOT ANYMORE!
Bravo Ambi. Bravo Johnson & Johnson. Bravo this wonderful, effective product. Just... Bravo.
Repurchasing after I use it up! ^_^

If I could give this cleanser a 20 rating I would! I absolutely love it. I'm an African American and i tend to scar easily and struggle with dark spots. This cleanser not only left my skin feeling clean and ridiculously soft, it helped keep breakouts away and got rid of any dark spots i had on my face. I hope they never discontinue this product because i think i'll use it for the rest of my life. Plus, it was about $6 at Wal-Mart. Effective AND cheap. What else could you ask for?

This product did not cause any improvements in my skin after using it for 3 months. It did, however, increase the amount of oil present on my face. It didn't help with blackheads or acne. But it did wash off cleanly and leave my skin soft.

My derm reccommended a SA Wash to help with post-acne marks so I picked this up after I hated the Neutrogena SA cleanser (I like their foaming fresh cleanser better). This is a foaming cleanser meant for combo/oily skin that has discoloration for scars, acne, etc. After about 5 nights of use, I can honestly say that this is a really decent cleanser that does what it says. I like the fact that it's a foam and in a dispenser that is clean to use. It has not irritated my skin which is a big plus because I'm on tazorac and I can be sensitive sometimes. My acne had diminished, no new zits and my marks are remarkable lighter. I even took a picture on day one and day 5 so I could compare. I think that this is a great and affordable line that those of us with problem skin should try. I think I might try their lightening cream next. IT can be a little drying and I'm using this at night only, because I just rinse with water in the morning, to lessen irritation. I'm not a fan of scrubs because they tear my skin up, but this has great ingredients to lessen my acne and help fade my scars. If your acne is moderate to severe, I suggest something else. But mine is now under control. My only complaint is that it sometimes takes too washing to get off makeup. So I actually prefer the neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser for heavy makeup days.

I like this. I prefer scrubs (I want the exfoliating version), though.

Anyway, I seldomly get pimples but when I do, it ALWAYS leaves a scar (or a dark mark).

It fades my dark marks/acne scars. Now, of course, with all scars and hyper pigmentation, it's not going to go away in 2 weeks or something. It takes time!

I'm really happy that a line like this is out there and affordable. I had really bad acne in the past two years and I got left with many many dark marks/scars on my face, most on my cheeks. This cleanser has decrease these marks. My marks are still here, but it's not as darks as before. It's a tad bit oily for my taste and i have oily skin to begin with. I won't buy this cleanser again, but i will continue using products from this line, Currently I am using there target mark minimizer and it's wonderful, I don't know what I would do without it.

I LOVE this cleanser. Im on my second bottle. It's great for days when your skin looks dull. Completely removes all makeup, including mascara. Great for breakouts and evening out my skin tone. Im surprised not many of you ladies like it cause I just love it! Im glad there's a line for us darker skin women. Plus it's fun to use.
UPDATE: I just got my third bottle yesterday. I bought some more before running out cause I never wanna be without this. I now have my 16 year old niece using it or her teenage acne and she's loving it. Especially since she has dark skin and this has helped her with the marks. Her mom likes that it's affordable lol.

The original concept of this product is a good. A gentle foaming cleanser ideal for sensitive skin. Unfortunately, this doesn't live up to its grand promises. Not only did it dry out my sensitive skin, but also make it break out amid the flaky mess. It was a disaster! I've never had such a horrible reaction to all the previous cleansers I've tried in the past. Also, the packaging could use some help. You need to tilt the bottle everytime so that the foam pump aims right into your hand, instead of dripping down the side of the bottle. If they can extend the pump and make it aim downwards, instead of an awkward horizontal direction, it would make everything that much better... but still, it won't salvage the general destructiveness of this cleanser. For some reason, the exfoliating version of this cleanser works okay on me, so I guess Ambi did something right.

I got this as a complimentary free gift from the Target pharmacy. Was not extremely impressed with it at first because the pump gets stuck after pressing down and the product itself smelled ... strange. But after a few uses I noticed how it washes off my make-up (usually no more than foundation, powde, and blush) and does not leave my skin feeling tight or tingly. It also does not flare up the parts of my skin that are affected with perioral dermatitis. Will considering purchasing again when I run out.
