I have about 4 of these I received from other people. I don't really like it very much, but it does the job. I've never had one that sheds but I do know that it does for other people. I don't really like how it applies make-up, it isn't rough but it doesn't seem to get great coverage. I probably wouldn't buy it again, just because I'm not fond of this type of brush in general.

This brush is just bad. It does not apply evenly but more annoying to me is it sheds all over my face whenever I use it! Whenever I wash it so many bristles fall out too. I regret buying this, it was really expensive and just overall a horrible brush. I am giving it two lippies just because I like the general shape of it, I just wish it was better quality.

This brush SUCKS! I just bought it today, and while I was buffing in my new BB cream, it shed probably 10-15 bristles on my face! For $23 I expect better performance. Taking this back to Ulta tomorrow!

Absolutely garbage. Got this with the packaged deal. I want to love it, as I love the concept of it, but so far I've used it twice and each time, more than 10 bristles have stuck to my face. Whats the point in giving me a brush to use if its coming apart? Again, the concept of a flat brush is awesome, and I love how its supposed to work (fits in the pan of powder perfectly) but its just no good. Its also scratchy. My Everyday Minerals kabuki is soooooooooooo much better.

Like many other reviewers, I got this brush for free when I purchased the starter kit. I washed it before the first use and I can honestly say that I don't find it to be scratchy or uncomfortable to use at all. Mine also has not shed much, and I've washed it several times since purchasing the kit about 6 weeks ago. I'll sometimes pull out a hair or two during the cleansing process, but nothing worth complaining about. Maybe I got a really well produced one, I'm not sure. As for the application, I find that no other brush gives the flawless coverage this does when used with the 4-in-1 powder. I have other dense brushes that just don't compare. The powder applies seamlessly.
I noticed that a few people mentioned that the brush loses it's shape after a few washes and I've found an easy way to prevent this from happening. The brush came with a thin piece of circular plastic wrapped around the head. I simply slip this back on after each time I use the brush and lightly around the bottom of the head after cleansing to keep the bristles together. My brush still looks as good as new. I hope this helps!

I usually don't have the funds to buy expensive brushes like this so I was really disappointed after using it for the first time. This brush was advertised as soft and would never shed even after being washed; what a joke. Although I didn't have problems with the scratchiness many other people have described I did have a major problem with how much it shed. It worked great for putting on foundation but every time I used it I'd have to pick hairs off of face with tweezers because brushing them away was impossible! I'm especially disappointed with how short it lasted; 4 months. I tried to wash it and half of the bristles fell out! My Elf Kabuki brush has lasted much longer than that and it was 3 dollars!

Got this with a starter kit, and I was excited to try it. I've been using BE for years with their full coverage kabuki brush, which sheds a bit, but overall is good. This chisel brush looks like it should be amazing, but as others have said, it really sheds a lot. Might not be a deal breaker for some, but for me it's just not going to work. I don't know what it is, maybe my face has some kind of weird static charge, but when the bristles shed all over my face I can't just brush them off and keep applying the makeup; they literally stick to my skin and it's really hard to get them off. I'm assuming this is a problem unique to me, and if you don't mind brushing some shed bristles off your face, this brush might be okay for you.
I still gave this brush 3 lippies though, because it's really dense and if it didn't shed it'd be the perfect brush for me (I don't find it as rough as some do). And truthfully, I've yet to find a great mineral makeup brush that provides full coverage and doesn't shed to some degree. It's just that I feel this one sheds a little too much for me.

Although I really like this brush, I understand why it has a lot of negative reviews. Yes, it is very scratchy, yes, it does shed a lot, yes, it is a tad bit too small. BUT it really is a awesome brush. It is very dense and its perfect for the Pur Minerals 4 in 1 foundation. Its actually just great for any pressed powder. The reason the bristles are a bit sharp is because it is meant for milling the pressed powder into a lose powder, making it easier to dispense the product onto your face. I also find that i dont wast as much product with this brush; most brushes I feel suck in a lot of the product, but not this brush! It puts all the powder onto my face. I also like that it is small, it makes it easier to travel with.
Even though this brush has a few technical issues, I really like it! :)

Bought this to go with the 4 in 1 foundation, it is great for applying the foundation but the brush is scratchy and hurts my face a little. It also sheds quite a bit for a brush that isn't cheap. Might repurchase unless I can find something that applies the foundation as well this and does not hurt. Listed as a 'No" for now as I am leaning more towards replacing this than repurchasing.

This brush is terrible. It's rough, scratchy, and basically just hurts. I've gotten several starter kits over the years and have tried the brush many, many times...but it's uncomfortable. It also doesn't hold its shape well. It makes the foundation look great, so I tried to make it work. Now I use the Eco Tools bronzer brush and it works very well. I'm also going to try the Real Techniques buffing brush.

I'm glad I did not spend money on this. It was a free gift with purchase of their foundation. I must admit, at first it applied the pressed powder foundation much better than the other few brushes I tried; it gave a nice, even, almost flawless-looking application. I loved it until I washed it for the first time: the bristles weren't as tightly-packed together as they originally were, making application of the foundation less impressive. I washed it again a few weeks later and the bristles spread out even more. I didn't find I had too much of a problem with bristles falling out (although most other users have); I mean they would fall out occasionally, but nothing too terrible. This brush just kinda sat in my make-up bag for a few weeks after I decided it didn't "work" anymore, until I made my own gel-cream foundation and decided to be brave and try using this brush for applying it. Wow, it worked really well! IDK if this brush was meant to apply liquid/cream foundation, but it sure worked well for me. I would have given this brush a 1 because it's super expensive (retail) for something that works less and less well each time it's cleaned, ridiculous! But since I have found another awesome use for it, I went ahead and gave it an average rating. Bottom line: I WOULD NOT PAY $$$ FOR THIS, if you are interested in it, wait until it's listed as a gift with purchase so you don't spend money on it.

I wish I could give 0's for this brush. I love the foundation.. but this brush is TERRIBLE. I've gone through 2 so far. Lucky someone at Shoppers Drug Mart replaced my old one. Every time I used it, even from the beginning, hairs came out and got stuck to my face, and it was very itchy. Then eventually the entire brush part just .. fell out, which shouldn't happen for a brush that is only 6 months old. So I got the replacement.. and the new ones hairs are still falling out. I guess its only a matter of time before the brush falls right out of the handle again. I would never spend money on this again.

This is an okay brush, works okay for pressed powders or bronzers. It is not my favorite, but useable. After a lot of washings it kind of flips out on the side in some places, but not too bad. It came as part of a kit so it was not expensive, that is the plus side of this brush.

I got this with my starter kit from Pur Minerals which consists of the chisel brush, 4 in 1 foundation, marbelized blush, and a bronzer. The chisel brush isn't bad, but it's not great. It scratches even after washing, but it does a good job of putting on the 4 in 1 foundation. But I'm not going to use it, so it's just gonna sit there and collect dust. I prefer using my buff brush from Ecotools.

It really provides a great finish when applying the Pur Mineral's powder foundation to my face. However, this brush sheds every time I use it. And, the brush's hairs are scratchy against the face as well.

This is the best (really the "only") brush for applying the Pur Minerals 4-in-1 foundation and getting a good result, in my experience. I don't find the brush "scratchy" - it's a little firm but I think it has to be in order to get the foundation worked into the skin and buffed out so that it looks natural while still delivering really good coverage. Other kabuki/flat topped brushes I've tried are just too soft to do this job well. I also like how well it works to buff out or blend in blush when I've applied too much and nothing else will take away the "clown cheeks" - THIS brush will. All of mine have come in "showstoppers" from The Shopping Channel so the price has always been pretty reasonable but I've no idea how pricey or economical this brush is when purchased on its own.
I do want to try the Samantha Chapman Real Techniques flat topped brush but these aren't available in Canada so I'll have to wait til my husband goes to the US in February so he can pick these brushes up for me. But for now, this is the brush to do the job of applying the Pur Minerals foundation and I would certainly repurchase.

I love this chisel brush! Pur minerals is the ONLY powder/foundation I use, and I use it every day. While this brush is a little more rough than most, it does WONDERS to hide imperfections on your face. Literally like magic. I use the brush for a natural look and when I want full coverage. I just adjust the amount of product I use - for day-to-day use, I simply dip it into the powder and lightly brush it all over my face to even out the skin.
I also have had the brush for about 4 years and it is still in amazing condition.
Pros- Full and partial coverage, great application for minerals
Cons- on the scratchy side (though it doesn't bother me), expensive, occasional shedding of one hair or so

So glad you reviewed this, Hoku! This is my all-time fave brush for applying minerals when I want/need extra coverage. An added bonus I've found is that it's the ONLY brush that seems to be able to get the minerals deep into your skin and pores (does that make sense?) and really helps avoid the pore-showing tendency of most minerals. If this helps, I've had mine for several years, maybe even 5, wash it regularly and it's still going strong with no, or very little shedding.
