I used this shampoo for the first time this morning and I'm in LOVE! I have fine shoulder length hair and I'm letting my color grow out. Ive been using sulfate free shampoos for over a year now and was afraid to try this one. But the pretty pink cap on the bottle is what got me to buy it. It worked really well on my hair. It didn't tangle when I washed it! Amazing! It left my hair slightly moisturizer without weighing it down. It gave my hair a nice natural shine which I love because alot of shampoos give the over glossy shine that just doesn't look natural. The smell is typical for matrix...cheep flowery perfume smell. And after blow drying my hair was soft and bouncy! I don't think the sulfates will be too damaging because the shampoo is Ph balanced. I'll update as I keep using it but I can usually tell by the first try if it'll work for my hair....I think I have a winner! Will for sure buy again!
UPDATE: I used this shampoo for a week and it dried my hair. Not to the point of no return but kinda bad. I stopped using it for now and switched to the Ultra Hydrating shampoo for now which is great! I'll write a review for that soon. I'll start using the color care shampoo in the summer when my roots are a little more greasy.

My hair is extremely thick, coarse, dry, color-treated, and heat-styled. I have used Biolage products in the past, and have always had good luck, so when I recently had my hair colored & highlighted, I picked up this shampoo. Price was inexpensive for a salon brand: around $17 for a 16.9 oz bottle regular price, and I got it on sale for $11. The shampoo has that typical light floral "Biolage" scent, which I personally love. The shampoo is clear, but not at all drying. It lathers well and didn't leave my hair feeling at all stripped or dry - just clean and lightly hydrated. Although it does contain sulfates, which are terrible for color, somehow this works. It keeps my color looking fresh and fade-free. I am extremely pleased with this shampoo, and I will definitely repurchase when I run out.

I used to use this years ago and then started using Pantene due to the cost. Wow what a difference! I will never ever use a drug store shampoo and conditioner even to save money. This shampoo and conditioner made a huge difference on my dry thin hair! I love it and will buy again. Sad but true you get what you pay for! This is the best...will but again. My hair is soft and just looks way better! Love it!

This shampoo is wonderful for my fine, wavy hair, which has been colored many times, highlighted, and is prone to frizz and fly-aways. Used in conjunction with the matching conditioner, I get great results. If my mid-to-ends need a little extra moisture (a frequent scenario), I use a richer conditioner or a leave-in oil. This remarkably kept my hair under control during a day of exploring tide pools at a near-by cove recently, being exposed to the salty, cold ocean breeze that would normally turn my hair into a complete disaster. Also, I do not experience body breakouts after using this, which has happened with several other hair care products. I luckily have my cosmetology license, which enables me to purchase a liter of this for around $12 at Cosmoprof and SalonCentric.

This is one shampoo that I have repurchased many times. It is a little pricey (usually around $20-$25), but I can usually get a good deal on the huge 1 Liter sized bottles in a pack with the conditioner.
I have long, fine, bleached-blonde hair with damaged ends and oily roots. I generally go for shampoos that will help protect my color, but even more importantly to me is that they do not over-moisturize my hair and make my hair even more greasy. This shampoo does exactly what I want. It cleans my hair very well without totally stripping it, and I do find that my color does not fade as quickly when I use this.
This shampoo feels a little thick and it lathers very, very well. It has a light, clean, kind of floral scent that isn't overpowering at all.
I only have two issues with this shampoo. Like I said, I generally buy the 1 L size of this, and the cap sucks every single time. The cap is super thin and is very hard to open. I almost always accidentally break the cap off pretty soon after purchasing this, which leaves my shampoo bottle open to excess moisture.
My only other complaint is that this isn't always the best for controlling my oily hair. Most days this works really well, but sometimes after using this my hair will start getting greasy 12 hours or so after shampooing. But, for the most part, this keeps me pretty much oil-free for around 24 hours.
I will continue to repurchase this shampoo whenever I have the extra money for it. Its matching conditioner is really great as well!

Very suprised about the complaints of this being drying...I'm beginning to wonder if there are 2 separate formulas.. Anyway, I happen to be a real fan of this shampoo. My hair is right where I want it after I shampoo with this and condition with the Biolage Hydrating Balm. I have the whole dry end/ oily roots problem, my hair is colored, fine, and pretty damaged from heat styling. It's definitly a tricky combo because I don't want flat hair yet I need the moisture. With this my hair is noticeably shinier, bouncy, not over-moisturized but not dry either, and it seems to have kept the color tone. Now, the reason I didn't give it 5 lippies is because this has sulfates in it! And sodium chloride! Those 2 things are the most notorious for stripping hair color. I can't figure out why it hasn't dryed my hair or stripped the color, but...it just hasn't! I've tryed many shampoos and I know when one is stripping my hair color. I've been using this for 2 weeks now and my hair definitly would be showing it by now. Makes me nervous to use this because I have always been told to avoid SLS like the plague if you color your hair, but the only thing I can figure is that the content of SLS is very low because this doesn't lather as crazy as other SLS shampoos. And it says something on the back of the bottle about it being a gentle cleanser with a low ph balance. I would feel better if it didn't have those ingredients, but I have to say the proof is in the pudding. My hair looks better. Definitly recommend pairing with the Biolage Hydrating Balm. An added bonus is I have never smelt hair products that smell as good as Biolage. I just love the scent, so light and fresh smelling. Just like hair should smell:) If I use this for a while longer and determine it's safe for my color treated hair I may add a lippie.

Like some of the other reviewers, using this caused hair loss for me. Each time I showered it left a lot of hair in my hand. At first I thought it was because my hair was now detangled and so more strands were naturally freed. But I used this for a month and every time I shampoo I am left holding an unusual amount of hair and it was freaking me out!! My hair stylist who I bought it from even noticed the excessive shedding. Finally, I googled the product and saw that other people had experienced hair loss with this product. I am now using baby shampoo until find a good sulfate free shampoo. Hopefully the hair loss stops when I stop using it.

I bought this for my red coloured hair and so far it works great.
PROS:
- my hair feels very soft and moisturized even without conditioner
- it has a nice floral smell, but some people might not like it
- it instantly made my hair colour more vibrant
- my hair feels nourished and soft
- it doesn't tangle that often (as it used to before)
CONS:
- it's pricey - I paid around 20 euros for mine (1 Litre) but it's definitely worth the high price
- the bottle lacks a pump, which would be very helpful
Overall, I would highly recommend this shampoo for anybody with coloured hair. It especially works great on red/ginger tones but I guess it will be awesome on any colour :)

I bought this shampoo to help my highlights and hair in good condition. It didn't seem to help with either. Recently I dyed my light blonde hair back to a dark blonde using a semi. My hair is already faded, feels dry and frizzy, and lacks volume. My pantene shampoo works much better than this! After doing some research, I found that clear shampoos can be rather harsh on your hair (this is clear) plus it's loaded with sulfates. It really doesn't do anything for my hair.

I have naturally curly hair that is dry that I wear in a pixie a la Ginnifer Goodwin. I used Biolage color care years ago (don't remember why I switched). I have been using Ion and Biotera color care shampoos, but the Ion stripped my color and the Biotera left my hair feeling coated and flat. My stylist used Biolage when she rinsed out my color last week, and when she styled it I noticed it turned out great. So I bought my own and tried out good old Biolage Color Care again and voila! Great hair. It had volume, was soft and manageable and didn't take nearly the styling product amount to control it and make it do what I wanted. And my hair doesn't feel coated with 'cones. I believe this is one of the first few times I've posted on MakeUp Alley with a review, but this product was good enough that I had to tell everyone. Buy it. You won't be sorry.

I love this shampoo!
Usually I wash my hair every second day but since using this and applying three lathers
of shampoo, rinsing, then
conditioning my hair feels amazing and stays fresh and doesn't go oily for at least 3 days! It's amazing! Where I'm from it's expensive ($50 for two 500ml bottles) but it is well worth it!

I usually refrain from spending a lot of money on shampoo/conditioner. Typically I use John Frieda Blonde ( for highlights) & it does the trick. I went for a haircut a week ago & the guy who cuts my hair said they were having a sale on their Biolage Color Therapy shampoo. So I said what the hell?! Spend the extra 8 bucks & get this :) It was $20 for the shampoo/conditioner & it was the 33 ounce bottles. What a deal! Anyways, usually my hair is very dry & frizzy from bleaching it every few months & straightening it a lot. John Frieda leaves my hair somewhat static-y & dry so, I just straighten it & use a lot of Biosilk. But I've used this shampoo maybe 3 times so far & I absolutely love it! My hair hasn't been this soft or manageable in Idk how long. Also, after straightening my hair it still smells wonderful & I don't really have to use any hair oils or creams to keep it from frizzing. I use a tiny drop of biosilk or Got 2 Be spray & it does the trick. Idk if I'd ever pay full price for this shampoo but If I catch it on-sale again for 10 bucks a bottle I'm definately gonna pick it up.

Finally, a shampoo that won't wash out my semi-permanent red dye! I am so lazy about getting my hair dyed, so this shampoo has been a lifesaver. I've never had any color wash out, no color on my towels, and my hair looks and feels amazing. It is expensive, but it doesn't take a lot of product to get my hair clean and it doesn't over moisturize it/dry it out. All the other color-care shampoos I've tried always had at least one terrible con about them, and happily this is the exception. Definitely rebuying this one!

Note: I just started using this. If I notice any obvious fading in my dyed-red hair I will update my review.
Trying to find a new shampoo is *such* an annoying process. I check reviews obsessively before buying anything new anyway but most shampoos tend to be very YMMV. This shampoo had amazing reviews, and while I usually avoid SLS, I decided to take a chance on this.
I have fine-to-med, straight hair. I usually look for something that will give me volume but that won't strip my color. I don't necessarily look for a lot of moisture because that tends to add weight & my hair doesn't feel very damaged.
This is amazing. It adds moisture (which I will never undervalue again), TONS of shine and a great scent to my hair. I use this along with the Biolage Conditioning Balm (something I've used on & off for yrs). The first day I used this I had a lady stop me to tell me that I had beautiful hair. Now part of that I owe to my color (Colorsilk Auburn Brown) which I've gotten compliments on since I started using it. But the shine this shampoo gives me is amazing. My hair feels really healthy & soft. I am extremely happy

I'm shocked by the complaints that this shampoo is drying! I guess it just proves how different peoples' hair can be.
I was happy with the smell and lathering qualities but my hair just did not feel clean after using it. I've gone back to Shampure.

I used this product for the first time in a VERY long time today. I can't rate the effects over a prolongued period of time, but it did pretty well today. Could be a little more moisturizing but didn't dry my hair out either. I highlight rather than color so I don't really need color protection since I am lifting out color rather than depositing it. Overall, not amazing but pretty decent. Best thing about it in my opinion? The scent! It also has a lot of lather, but I could see it becoming a little too harsh with regular use and you would definitely want to deep condition regularly.

I have auburn hair I like to get pumped up with more red color, but of course red dye fades like crazy and I didn't think I'd find a shampoo that made my hair look good and kept the red from fading. Then I tried this! My red is sticking around better than ever, and my hair is silky and smooth and fabulous! I use the conditioner too. I don't have the dryness some people have experienced. It gives my hair the perfect amount of moisture and it's so healthy and swingy and shiny, I love it. :)

I have 4 different colors weaved through my thick, long, blonde hair so needless to say I need a gentle, yet effective shampoo that will protect my color and keep my hair healthy, let me just say, I found it in Biolage Color Care Shampoo!
I am hooked, it has a super-clean scent, a little bit goes a long way, you only need a tiny amount to get a super amount of lather.
It rinses clean and leaves your hair soft, manageable, clean and smelling great!
I will never go back to another shampoo again! I am hooked! Highly recomended!
