I didn't believe the hype for these for many years. Not sure what made me change my mind and buy one, but I am glad I did. Loved it so much I bought them for my mom and sister soon after. Had tried generic makeup sponges before (but always dry -- never damp). The damp sponge is key (maybe more generic sponges would have worked better for me if they were damp). Especially love using this with my NARS tinted moisturizer (a product that I had pretty much given up on because I couldn't blend it well with just my fingers/regular makeup brushes).

I really never considered a sponge up until recently. I started getting insanely dry skin, and flakes were abundant in the worst of places. If you are like me, then you know how hard it is to make your foundation look good no matter what.

After doing some research I decided to buy it and it is changing my life. Regular brushes would irritate and make my flakey skin show up more. With the blender, I'm patting the dry skin down and has drastically minimized the look of my dry spots.

I personally don't mind the price, since I've paid upwards of $40 on a single brush. A $20 sponge that makes your foundation work better is priceless to me.

The only downside is I can't seem to get it as clean as I want, I might try and buy the soap for it. It's also hard to travel with, considering it takes all day to dry.

What I love about the Beauty Blender. - easy to use - gives a nice, natural finish, - it's just plain fun! What I dislike. - very expensive - annoying to clean. The thing with BB's is that you can only clean a sponge so many times before it's just ick. I can get the same results with cheap triangle sponges and throw them away after a couple cleanings. Plus, if you really love BB's, they now have similar sponges for sale everywhere that are much less expensive. I wouldn't buy again.

I used different sponges for makeup application. Finally I decided to buy a beauty blender at the fall Sephora 20% off event. Just forget the other sponges, this one outperforms them. It gives you such an even application of makeup. There are no streak, just your airbrushed skin. I know some people comment that they use more product. I am not sure why. I first apply foundation with my fingers, don't worry about making it even at this point. Then I take a damp beauty blender and go over it. Then I take some setting powder and go over again. My face is done perfectly. I wash my bb right away using mild soap that I use to wash my hands with. No need to rub, just apply soap and don't dig into it. If stains bother you, take some oil and apply, then use the same soap. It comes very clean. It is a pricey item but it is very worth it if you want perfect makeup application. I cannot go back to do my foundation with a brush.

This product just doesn't suit my needs.......it makes it longer for me to put on makeup....the coverage is okay......and i'm using more foundation.......and when it comes down to the sanitary problem that the sponge needs to be washed everyday and sometimes i'm not sure if it's thoroughly dry on the inside...mine also falls apart quite quickly and pink bubbles appears when i wash it which also becomes my concern...it's close to 30 dollars cnd which is also really really expensive to use....i throw mine away after 1 month and will never purchase again...

Ok - if you are young with smooth naturally glowy skin - feel free to skip this review. Note - you can likely skip most reviews as really - you wake up amazing and if I were less of a person - would hate you for it. (Actually kind of do - but only a little)

Now - if you are facing maturing skin, uneven texture, pore issues, etc - this over priced little pink sponge works. Really well. And I kind of hate it a little for doing so.

First - dupes. Don't bother. Closest is RT and its ok. This has a bounce that makes foundation application quick and smooth. It also is the right balance of firm and smooth for under eye concealer.
Second - application. I cannot believe I went so many years not trying this. Concealer applies like a dream - especially if you have some fine lines. Foundation is sheer enough to be natural, but converage and finish are great. This has made some meh foundations really work for me.
Third - price. Dude, it sucks that it's $20, but it works. And if $20 makes a $40 foundation more usable - it's a good investment. If $20 keeps my concealer from creasing - allowing me to pass for younger than my 40 years - it's worth it.
Fourth - cleaning. I have a handful of these and a couple of RT ones. All go in a lingerie bag and get washed with my clothes. It works well enough and feeds into my lazy streak.

So ... Net, I love this even though the little guy makes it hard to love given the price and cleaning. Well worth giving it a try - unless you are part of the unicorn club mentioned above.

Honestly, I REALLY wish MUA had "Maybe" as a choice if purchasing again. I really AM on the fence with Beauty Blender.

First the good. This sponge does a remarkable job in blending foundation. Better than brushes and in most cases better than fingers. On my "mature" skin, it's all about the blend.

Next, the not-so-good: For the price point, I think this is way overpriced. I will spend quite a bit of money on great products, but for the wear and tear this little sponge goes through, it IS rather pricey.
When I first purchased, I had to wash it seeming forever because pink dye kept running. I don't want that on my face.
It gets dirty quickly. I have to wash it every day--perhaps it is the OCD in me, but the soap that came with this sponge is wearing down quickly and I'm going to try to find a DIY cleaning solution for this.
The life of the sponge isn't really that long. I purchased in the fall. It has tears already. I think it may be from my fingernails digging into it when I'm washing it.
The soap that coordinates with Beauty Blender also has a slight lavender scent. If you are allergic to lavender beware. I'm allergic and have to wash it a second time with regular soap to get the lavender scent out of it. Just a heads up!

I really am on the fence with this. While it blends beautifully, I'm sure there is a dupe out there for less money that may be stronger and work just as well. Depending on how long this sponge lasts before falling apart totally, I'm really unsure if I will re-purchase. I ended up saying "no"--but I'm truly unsure.

When I purchased my first beauty blender, I fell in love with it. Now that I have the Real Techniques complexion sponge, I want nothing to do with this product anymore.

1. Price
BB sponges are EXPENSIVE. It cost $20! $20 for a silly tear drop pink sponge.
2. Quality
BB sponges break down easily. I've gone through about four of them already. For $20 a piece these should last much longer.
3. Cleaning
Cleaning the bb sponge is awful. It's really hard to clean these things spotless, there is always going to be left over concealer, foundation, etc. on it. I got a bb cleaner as a Sephora 100 point gift a while back, it cleaned my sponge spotless but at the cost of my bb. The soap was the hard soap which was probably mostly detergent, so it was very harsh for something so delicate. My bb ended up super cracked. When I finished cleaning my bb with the soap, my hands had white residue from the soap.

NOT WORTH $20. Much rather go for a cost effective and denser sponge from Real Techniques.

I had this for awhile and I liked it, dont get me wrong but mine started to tear shortly after purchasing it. It lasted me for a month or two but then I couldnt justify spending the money on another one. So now I buy the knock offs they sell at TJMaxx and they work just as well. I admit that a beauty sponge is a MUST for every girl who loves to paint her face but not for the price tag if its going to break.

After being a beauty blender skeptic for a while now, I finally gave into the hype and bought the BB. The finish it gives is flawless and I'll probably never use my fingers for foundation again. The price is a little steep but I have not been disappointed!
