I have been wanting this for a while. I love the way toners make my skin feel and I own quite a few (Thayers, Sea Breeze, Neutrogena, Dickinsons's, etc). Each serve their own purpose. This I would say is perfect when my skin is looking congested or when I'm hormonal. It is a tad bit drying initially which is why I reduced a lippie, but my skin adjusted. I experienced no burning or irritation and my skin is oily but sensitive. I have sebaceous filaments on my nose and I am prone to eczema flare-ups. This doesn't bother any of those despite having ingredients like camphor in it. My pores temporarily shrink and look clean. It feels wonderful on the skin and has a slight cooling affect. I found my bottle at my local health food store. Would I buy again? absolutely! I'm thinking of trying the almond/aloe moisturizer next from Earth Science to see how well that pairs with this. So far very pleased.

This toner is my all time favourite. I use it after i've cleansed my skin with my Earth Science cleanser with hyaluronic acid. Along with the cleanser I use the Olay rotating brush. I also use my Clinique moisturizer after cleansing and toning, and the combination of these products makes my skin amazing!
I would recommend this to anyone with oily/combination skin.

This has some good ingredients for acne, along with some not so good(peppermint is irritant), but though too flowery a scent isn't good either, I couldn't stand the vinegar and peppermint scent. It's like you put salad dressing and mint on your face--ugh. Up for swap.

I love this stuff, here's why:
1. Inexpensive (around $10 I think)
2. Feels great, non drying
3. Doesn't irritate my sensitive skin
4. Reduces the visibility of my pores
5. Helps keep my skin clear (in conjunction with a good cleanser and non pore-clogging moisturizer)
6. Seems to reduce oil production
I haven't always used a toner because I haven't seen much of a benefit to most of the toner products I've used in the past, and many of them have irritated my skin and increased oil production. This product does only great things for my skin, and nothing bad. It's a real diamond in the rough for folks with sensitive, oily or oily/combo skin. I don't usually come on here and rave about products unless I've used it for several months and really, truly think it's worth every penny. This is worth it.
All the said, it does have some herbal ingredients which may irritate your particular skin, it just depends. For instance, if it had lavender in it, it would irritate my skin, but lots of people aren't sensitive to lavender, so it would probably still be Ok for you. So, it might contain an ingredient that you're sensitive to in particular. On the other hand, I really respect this company (and there aren't many beauty/cosmetic companies I actually do respect and trust) and don't think they would include ingredients that had a high probability of causing irritation in the average person with sensitive skin. So, it's worth a shot, in my opinion.

I agree with other reviewers that it's not a miracle product, but it is good and non irritating. I have noticed that my skin is somewhat clearer, however. I have very sensitive skin and this does not bother me at all. I find it to be very hydrating and use it as a light moisturizer in the PM, since my skin is quite oily. I am thrilled to have found something that will not break me out or cause oiliness, but hydrates overnight. I just spray a little more than usual on and let it sit on the skin till it soaks in. I have had no breakouts, rashes or flushing from this product. The price is good, and the bottle is a nice size. I can get it in the organic section of my local grocery store, so that's pretty convenient. My only complaint is that no matter what spray bottle I put it in, it always comes out as a heavy squirt (never a fine mist), so I can't use it as a touch up/setting spray for makeup. I'm sure it has something to do with the ingredients, but I think the ingredients are great, so I'd rather they not change anything. Perhaps I'll try another Earth Science product for that purpose. Also the smell is pretty medicinal, but I'd prefer that over added fragrance which is not good for my skin. The smell fades completely once it absorbs.

I use this alcohol-free toner after cleansing with ES Clarifying Facial Wash. It's not a miracle product, but my skin does feel better when I'm using it consistently as part of my skin-care regimen.

I wanted a toner that would help with acne so I could skip a step with applying salicylic acid in the morning. Luckily, I found ES Clarifying Herbal Astringent and I credit it for contributing to my currently (mostly) blemish-free face by restoring a correct amount of moisture back. It also has an awesome ingredient list: witch hazel extract, apple cider vinegar, sulfur, and zinc sulfate for acne/oil control + allantoin and hyaluronic acid for moisture. I subtracted one lippie because I'm still getting use to its texture.

I love, love, love this toner. I'm crazy about the smell...usually that isn't a deciding factor for me when determining whether or not to continue using a product, but this toner's smell, in addition to its gentle cleansing and purifying, is fabulous. I love the way my face feels after using it. The price is definitely reasonable for the amount you receive because it lasts a long time. I wash my face with Earth Science Clarifying Cleanser, then use this toner and then, in the mornings, follow with Avalon's Vitamin C oil-free moisurizer. In the evenings, I follow the toner with avocado oil instead. Fantastic.

I was looking for a witch-hazel based toner with no alcohol - and this is the winner! It also contains apple cider vinegar and Hyaluronic acid, which I love. It's also a lot cheaper than a lot of toners out there. Very nice toner.

I bought this on drugstore.com because I needed to buy a certain amount of things and this seemed like a good product to try (and if I didn't like it, it wasn't too expensive anyway) since it is all natural ingredients. Good thing I liked it! I needed a toner that wasn't drying, and this is perfect. I like the HA "film" left behind when I use this, my skin feels soft and moisturized. I have gone without moisturizer at night a few times by using this after cleansing (my skin is very oily). The smell is nice and light, and none of the (natural!) ingredients have broken me out. It has lasted me a while and there is still a lot left. I think that is in part to the cap on the bottle, since it doesn't oversoak the cotton ball with extra wasted product. The only thing I am not so sure of is the "clarifying" part of its name since I haven't noticed less clogged pores from this, but maybe that will happen over time.

One thing i really like about this toner is that it is not overly drying. It feels very mild and does not sting like some other toners especially when the fumes gets near the eyes. The scent is refreshing and not over strong. It works decently in controlling oils, but my over active oil glands are not completely stopped. The toner takes a while to dry and feels a bit sticky until it does. I don't really like the pour spout and prefer to just unscrew the top to soak a cotton ball in it. Overall it is a good toner if you don't like having strong alcohols and prefer natural extracts in your toner.

Love this toner. It is simple, but effective. The "film" mentioned below is the HA moisturizing your skin. It sinks in with a little moisturizer. I personally love it! :)
Edit - I lowered the rating b/c this is just too harsh for my skin.

This stuff leaves a weird rubbery film on your skin. it is... unpleasant. It really has not helped my skin at all and my skin has actually been worse while i've been using this product. i can't blame the toner though because i am using other products and a prescription acne medication, so any one of these things could be the culprit.

Excellent toner!!! I just bought it on a whim from Whole Foods, and I am very happy with my purchase. I was somewhat reluctant about the "astringent" part of the name, but I was pleasantly surprised after I tried the product. It is very gentle, even though it has "astringent" in the name. It also has a slight herbally/menthol smell, that goes away quickly. It's very refreshing after a hot shower, and great for the summer. I use Clean and Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser (it has 10% BP) - which can be drying for most people - but it's one of staple products I use, and it just leaves me feeling a little tight afterwards. When I follow that cleanser with this toner though, my face feels so moisturized and not tight AT ALL. It feels like I don't even need a moisturizer - which was kinda bad cause I skimped on my daily moisturizer and just used my Aveeno Clear Complexion moisturizer (it has 0.5% salicylic acid - I usually use Aveeno daily moisturizer along with this one). Well, I think just using the Clear Complexion moisturizer left my skin feeling kinda tight, and also in the spots where I used BP cream and sulfur cream, I've started to flake. Soooo - please don't skimp on your moisturizer!! This toner does such a good job and makes your skin feel so good that you feel like you don't need anything else! If you want a toner that does not dry you out, is gentle, is at a great price, and is a natural product - go for this toner. It's like when someone waxes a very beat-up, skidded-up floor - your face will be so SMOOTH and SOFT. Also, I have acne-prone skin and this did not break me out.
EDIT: I have stopped using this. I noticed small bumps appearing on my face. But then again, I was also using the Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash at the same time. I do no think it's this toner that caused the bumps, because I used it for about a week before I got the new cleanser - and I didn't have the bumps then.. or just didn't notice them yet. Anyway, I do not have the patience to perform a trial and error to see which one is breaking me out - because I do not want any more blemishes! I will probably try using this toner again sometime when my face is more tame. I did stop using the new cleanser, so we will see how it goes.

This is great for the summer months when my forehead and chin feel especially oily. The ingredients don't irritate my sensitive skin and tend to have a nice, cooling effect. I removed one lippie because this can dry the other areas of my face a bit. Works very well post-cleanse. I would follow up with a light ES moisturizer after use.

I wasn't sure if I really needed this or not since the Clarifying Facial Wash works so well for me, but I used it anyway and it does seem to tighten pores and help control oil throughout the day. Plus it's gentle. I'm not crazy about the smell. I guess that's the witch hazel smell which reminds me of Clean & Clear which I used in high school. It's not that strong and fades immediately, so I can deal with it in order to have clean, soft and smooth skin. This, along with the clarifying cleanser, has replaced my Shiseido Pureness skincare routine and I'm happy because it costs almost 3/4 less! (I've been using this for almost a year.)

This is the best toner I have found. It has witch hazel, an antioxidant, and no alcohol. It never stings. I've used it after a lactic acid peel and it is very soothing. Great stuff.

I love how this is an astringent that's moisturizing, but quite honestly, I don't see the point in this product.
1. The smell is herbally. I'm not crazy about it, as it reminds me of my grandmother's ointments.
2. It has a thick cosistency and I'm not crazy about.
3. I stopped using it for a month and really didn't notice any difference in my skin, so I've determined that it's really unnecessary in my skin regimen and now I only use for a midday quick cleanse. (otherwise, it just sits on my bathroom shelf)
Though it IS a nice product, I personally don't find much use for it.

Though technically it is called an astringent, this product is actually very gentle and lightly moisturizing on my sensitive, sometimes oily, sometimes dry skin. It is very refreshing, contains great ingredients, and has really tightened my pores. I use this astringent after the Earth Sceince Clarifying Face Wash, and I really like how my skin looks after using this product. Nice herbal scent too.

I LOVE THIS STUFF! it's much more moisturizing than i thought it'd be--- it's perfect. it softens my skin, prevents breakouts and even has apple cider vinegar in it! i love it! the scent is a lovely peppermint. even my DH is addicted to it! works great with their clarifying cleanser. no more breakouts, it got rid of rashlike bumps too. great formula. a little lasts a long way, so for $9 it is well worth it. i love the ingredients! so gentle and natural, but effective! perfect, perfect, perfect!!
here's the info from the bottle:

UPDATE>>>>>>>>>>... well it's been just over a year now, and i am still LOVING this! it's my total HG cleanser. The only other cleanser that comes close to this is Jason Super-C Cleanser....although Jason's is definitely #2. And the only reason i have to get the Jason's is that my ES cleanser doesn't travel well, b/c of the pump :/
but E.S. is truly the best. gentle, effective, and just wonderful.
