This is fantastic stuff.

I'm pretty fair and have used have both the fair and medium version of this product. I like both but prefer the medium because it is more of an immediate tan whereas the fair takes a few days to build up. I'd say 2-3 days worth of daily application of the "fair" version, equals one application of the "medium." The color takes about an hour or two to develop on me and never looks orange or streaky though I do recommend taking your time around your ankles and elbows. I only have to reapply 2-3x's/week and the color stays fresh in between. I've used this on my body and Clarins Liquid Bronze on my face for years and think it's a winning combo for me.

Oh thank you MUA app for helping me pick this out!!!! I've been dying to go tanning, and at 36, I know better. But I've REALLY been contemplating a tanning package. Figured I'd try a self-tanner one more time. Regular self-tanners are too time consuming for me: wash, exfoliate, moisturize, watch your knees and elbows, scrub your hands, wait to put on clothing..... I figured I'd give this a try after reading some reviews. OMG I'm soo happy!!!! Got this at Ulta for $10 (had a coupon, though) and the price is a bit steep, but this is totally worth it! Last night, spur of the moment, I THREW this on. Didn't shower. Didn't exfoliate. Didn't spend too much time doing it. Put it on like normal lotion, just made sure to get my back as well as I could. There is a slight self-tanner smell to it, but NOTHING like all the others. The lotion absorbed quickly and I was dressed in about 10 minutes. Went to bed, and could smell it, but it wasn't atroceous. This morning I forgot about it, looked in the mirror, and was STUNNED. I'm golden! Looks like I have a nice "week old" tan. Put more on this morning after I showered (again, it was a quick lather) and I'm sitting here in shock. I'm very moisturized- didn't even use my usual body lotion. FAINT smell, but again, it's not awful. My color looks really good, and after a day and a half, I can't wait to see what I look like in a few more days! I will admit, there is one spot on my wrist that is obvious, but that is because I scrubbed the heck out of my hands after using....and you can tell where I stopped! I will now use a sponge and apply some to my hands after washing. This stuff is great!!! Forget the Fake Bake, L'Oreal Bronzer, Banana Boat, all that stuff- this is fast and easy and looks natural! Sooo glad I bought it!

So after months of looking, I FINALLY found it at Fred Meyer! It was a bit spendy for me at 9.99 but they had it on sale 10% off of that so I bought two. It's only a couple bucks more than Jergins is these days (which to me was gross smelling like lotion and sour cream plus filmy, and only gave me an orange tinge) so it's not that bad a deal. Plus mineral oil is not a listed ingredient unlike Jergens and the smell is actually nice but isn't too strong yet covers any DHA smell pretty well. I only notice a feint DHA smell at end of day (though I do smell like french fries when I get in the shower, a sign it works! Lol!)

I don't know if they've changed the formula since previous reviews but it wasn't runny. It's normal and absorbs good, drying in a few minutes. The shimmer doesn't bug me but you can lightly brush some of it off when it dries too. No problems with streaking so far or breaking me out, even on my oily face. After just three days, it's just as good as the color of the medium natural sublime gelee and I can keep applying it every other day to keep the color. (but everyday on my face, as I do scrub that daily. It's a bit heavy for that but I fix it with oil blotting tissue after an hour) I'll definitely continue to buy! So glad I found it!

I've used the medium skin version of this for a couple of years and like it quite a bit. Leaves a tan color that doesn't tip over into orange if you take a day off once you've reached the level you want. It contains a silver shimmer and would not recommend for the face for that reason. Smells like tea. Not bad. One word of caution, I used the fair version just recently and found that it did nothing. I'll stick to medium tones.

ok it gives nice color other than that i hate it. it never absorbs. I stand naked for an hour and it still does not sink in, I have to sprinkle myself with powder at that point so i can get dressed. THis product would be great if they could make it dry faster.

Pros:
- Smells like orange pekoe tea
- Easy to rub in, is not like Jergens where you have to REALLY rub it in (however it does not offer the "toning" like Jergens does)
- Slight shimmer

Cons:
- I wanted a nice bronzy overnight tan, however, I purchased the color for medium skin tones, and I don't think this is going to give me the bronziness. Oh well, it's a good moisturizer nevertheless since I find it really easy to absorb in comparison to the thicker body moisturizers.

I don't know what I would do without this moisturizer. I use it almost everyday, and the sunless tanner in it never overwhelms my skin tone. The shimmer is gorgeous, it turns my skin into perfection. The smell took awhile to get used to, like tea. And it's a little runny. I always repurchase!

I love this product - provides gradual depth to skin tone as you keep using it. It is a moisturizer, as opposed to the regular type of self-tanner, with subtle tinting action to it. I use the one for "Fair Skin Tones" and find that it gives just a lovely light golden brown tint. As for the scent, well I guess everyone has different tastes, because I love it. It reminds me exactly of the smell of Orange Pekoe Tea - and is very light and pleasant. The moisturizer itself is light and very liquidy and just melts right into the skin. I have used this product for the last 3 years (tried a couple of others in between) and would never change now - just hope they continue carrying it, as I had quite the time trying to find it this year.

ok, first let me get the bad out of the way. this stuff smells AWFUL, the consistency is terrible, and it takes *forever* to absorb. but, to be honest, it's worth it. i hate looking foward to applying this stuff, but i'm always so happy with the results. it leaves the absolute best natural looking bronzed tan the next day. ugh, i'm so pleased. it leaves no lines or streaks, even when you think it will!

this is my first time using a self tanner and girls this is the shit. no orangeness, the smell doesnt bother me...it reminds me of maple syrup, no streaks, no stains on clothes! nothing! after the first day, you get a subtle brown ness (a good kind not muddy). then as you keep using it the color develops deeper in a natural way. just dont forget your feet! once i had to double up the dosage on my feet bc i forgot but it worked out all good. but the glitters arent glitters its like a nice shimmer for when you go out at night. like the shimmer in lotions from victorias secret. you can just rinse it off before school. or if you want to use your body wash make sure it does NOT have ALCOHOL! that crap will ruin it. im going to try l'oreal sublime bronze lotion and write a review. hopefully its just as good!

I really like this product so far, a little runny though. You have to work with it so it doesn't run down your arm when you're appyling it. But, it does give an even natural, nice tan! UPDATE: ONLY looks nice after one application, any more it looks orange! What's the point of getting a gradual tanner if it turns you orange after more than one coat? Hopefully I can work with it to get better results but the last thing anyone wants is to be orange!

I think that this self tanner provides a really great and TRUE colour to the BODY, however on my face i cannot say the same. on my face, it kinda looks yellowish. Yes i am asian, but anyone who knows me will tell you that my face is not yellow at all, and my body is the more yellow-toned skin. once again, this self tanner is GREAT on the body for me, gorgeous, pink-brown colour but not the face. also, the smell is HORRID. out of the bottle, its like meh just the usual self tanner smell, but honestly once it settles into ur clothes and fabrics, it smells terrible. my mom actually thought i was using some really bad substance or something !

The BEST self tanner out there! I have tried absolutely everything, and this is by far the best smelling tanner and best color I have ever gotten. I used this for two days, and on the second day I was being asked where I went on vacation and why my skin looked so good! The girls on my team were jealous of me because I have auburn hair and somewhat pale skin and now I am glowing all-over! this is a NATURAL glow, not that fake orange look. I really like this stuff and will continue to use it as long as they make it :)))))))))))

I've been using this as an all over body lotion for a week straight & it does give an even, natural-glowing color that I was looking for. I am very pale & use the medium. Make sure to wash your hands after applying because it will stain your palms. The scent is faint & pleasant & does fade throughout the day. I store mine with cap side up because it will come out violently if stored cap side down & end up not where you want it to go (bathroom rug). One complaint: underneath the "new" that's in red, there is a gold bar on the tube. That gold rubs off! I noticed it today when applying & had to take a tissue to rub it off, sort of like a scratch off lottery ticket. Beware of the gold flecks that will come off from that silly design. Hopefully they'll remove that on future tubes because it's quite annoying. Perhaps that's where many of the reviewers below are getting the sparkly bits that they don't like, without realizing it.

The jury is still out on this one. I have used it once so far, and while not horrible, its not perfect either. First, the color is barely noticeable at all. I have a light to medium olive completion, and although there is not much color to be seen, the color that is there is distinctly yellow, especially on my legs. Second, the smell is not horrible (I have smelled much worse in self tanners), but its not great either. Third, it is tinted a dark brown, which is great. You can easily see where you have applied the lotion, where you have too much, etc. However, it is very shimmery. I would never use this and then go out in public. My only real complaint is that it does not look natural on my legs. It is very yellow.

My initial thoughts are this tanner is not bad. I think it works well on upper body (my back looks great) not so much on my legs. It may work better on someone a little paler. So although I would probably buy it again, my search for a little better self tanner continues…
*UPDATE* after the second application, I have to admit that the color is much better. Less yellowy, more natural looking. My legs still have a bit of yellow tint, but not as bad as after the first application. The color on my legs is not really my natural tan color, but not too bad. Upper body looks pretty good. However, it is not much darker. I believe that the best you will get with this tanner is a hint of color, kind of a glow. It has been my experience that the more layers you put on to try to darken a tanner results in a much faker, orangey looking tan, so I don’t think trying to build it into a darker tan will work. But so far, it seems to be the best of the self tanners I have tried. Warning- the residual smell is pretty bad. Even after showering, I still catch of whiff of self tanner. It is not bad going on and all tanners seem to have that self tanning smell. I think it is a price to I will just have to pay. I will continue to use it for the next few days and see how it goes.

Seeing as it is January and snowing outside, I just wanted a little color...and practice for this upcoming spring that will come out of nowhere! I tried this since normal tanners break out my face, and it isn't too shabby. My only gripe is I have combo skin, so my face would get a bit oily/shiny looking, but it isn't too bad. And a tip, be careful around hairline..I had some orangness around my "sideburn" area! But since I was my face twice a day, it faded quickly. Overall I gave this 3 stars since it is not a deep tan color, but it goes on evenly. And I don't see why people are complaining about the smell! I mean it has a hint of a self tanner smell on my makeup brushes, but that's all I've noticed!

The only things this self tanning lotion has going for it are that it actually gives you a nice streak-free, non-orange tan, and it's easy to apply. Hence the 2 lippies. The things that kill this product for me are these: smells absolutely terrible!, very runny/liquidy, doesn't moisturize, and the extreme shimmer. I feel like a character out of Twilight when I use this lotion! My brother even noticed the shimmer, and he doesn't notice *anything*. It shows up everywhere too. Sheets, inside of sweatshirts, everywhere. Good thing I only use this at night or when I'm not leaving the house. I am going to finish the bottle bc it does give a nice tan, but I'm going back to Jergens when it's gone. **EDIT** Couldn't get through the tube. Used it 3 more times after the review and tossed it. I couldn't stand it anymore. Jergens is my go to until the line of L'Oreal regular tanners come out for summer.

Age: 44-55   Skin: Dry   Hair: Black   Eyes: Black

Let me start by saying that I have never used self-tanner before, and was a bit nervous to try it out.. I kept envisioning myself with an orange, streaky face.

APPLICATION: This product will not streak. At all. I no longer bother with exfoliating beforehand, and I just kind of slap it on and it's still miraculously even.

COLOUR: It also didn't turn me orange, although whenever I felt like I was starting to look somewhat orangey I stopped using it for a day or two.

SCENT: It has a slight self-tanner smell, though it's kind of masked by fake mango.. the smell isn't awful, but I do dislike it.

However, this is a really, really shimmery product. It is FULL of silver shimmer - it's not so bad on the body but on the face it makes you look really shiny and freakishly silver. To the point where if I ran a finger over my face and looked at my finger, there would literally be clumps of silver shimmer. To avoid the alien look I have taken to just applying this an hour or so before bed.

It is also a pretty heavy product, which is deceiving because the consistency is very thin (careful that it doesn't spill out everywhere, which has happened to me a few times), but surprisingly I haven't broken out from it yet.. I even applied it to my back which usually has awful bacne and is very sensitive but no breakouts yet..

Overall a good product. It takes a while to build up any noticeable colour though, and I feel like the colour fades pretty fast.. I've already used more than half the bottle (I only bought this about a week or so ago) and while I have a subtle glow, I definitely don't look tan.

It seems like this product works best for people who are really, really pale.. I have a medium skin tone (and this product is supposed to be for people with medium skin tones, so wth?) and it gave me a glow but not a real tan. It's nice for a bit of colour though.

If you're going to use a gradual tanner, this is the one to go with. While it isn't perfect, it's the best I've tried thus far. There have been times I've been unable to find L'Oreal Sublime and have had to go with other brands (Jergens, Olay, etc.)-BIG mistake. Always end up dirty-streaky and/or oompa-loompa orange with the others. Although you can end up streaky with this (as with all brands), if you exfoliate and moisturize well (especially the knees, ankles and feet) you will get a beautiful bronze color every time. Others have complained about the shimmer, but I love it. It really highlights and sets off the legs in a subtle-yet-eye-catching way. Also, I wouldn't bother with the Fair shade, as it really doesn't provide much color, even if you are paper white (as I am). One thing I would definitely change is the smell. It is definitely distinct and not in a good way. Aside from that, highly recommended.
