Maybe because my lips are really pigmented, but it doesn't look orangey on me. Instead, it's this coral with rosy undertones with a gold shimmer. It's a gorgeous colour though it just doesn't look like it does from the tube.

This is in my top 5 lipsticks from MAC, and I have almost 35. Great coral, shimmery with lots of gold. Staying power is FOREVER. Does dry my lips out a bit but I don't care. This makes me feel like a beach girl. I love it, wear it all year, every season.

This color is pretty awesome.. It's an orangey coral with shimmer comparable to a gold fish's scales. One layer and it's a softer shade, but it is buildable. I never thought I would find an orange to work with my skin tone, but this is it. Love it! NC15/NW20

I think this is one of the most underappreciated lipsticks MAC has to offer! Whenever people/YouTubers discuss their favorites, this one is never included, but I absolutely ADORE CB 96. I think it looks fantastic with tan skin and warmer undertones, Whenever I would go out in the summer (and even in the fall when I still had a decent tan) this lipstick went well with a sultry smokey eye or even with no makeup whatsoever. For me, it was my first vibrant colored lipstick and it really helped me inch my way into getting comfortable with non-nude lipsticks.

Good colour which brightens up my olive skin which tends to look very dull when i slacken and don't look after it weill. I love using this with a coral-ish blush and it makes for a good summer's day look.

I went to MAC for a pink lip and came out with CB96 instead. Looking at it in its tube is a bit scary (for me, anyways, because I am just starting out in the lipstick dept) because it looks very bright red. And it can be bright with the right lip pencil. Wearing it alone, however, it's almost like a sheer, more natural red and it is gorgeous.

This is a fun golden frost y coral-orange shade to wear to rock the "orange" lip trend for Spring 2011. I enjoy wearing this shade when I want to rock a bold lip and pair it with a neutral and soft eye. I'm pale (MAC NC15) and when ever I wear this lipstick I receive tonnes of compliments and have strangers ask me what shade I'm wearing and where they can purchase it.

This is a great colour for summer! Although it's a frost finish, all of the shimmer is gold toned instead of white or silvery (which is usually what comes to my mind when I think of frosty lipsticks) and works very well with the coral base. I tend to wear this in a light coat or blotted down as a heavy application can be too full on for me. However, as much as I like the colour, I find it can be fairly drying and accentuates lip lines, etc. It's also not incredibly long-lasting, at least on my lips. Because of these issue I'm not sure I'd rush out to buy this again, even though I do think the colour is lovely.

CB96 is a great coral - it's just not for me. I think it needs to be on warmer, darker skin. But it also fails to deliver on the subtle gold shimmer. I only get a few minutes before the shimmer wears off, then I'm left with just a brash coral that looks weird on me.

CB96 is a good lipstick for me to wear when I'm in the middle of the hottest summer and the sun won't let up and it's just pounding on the back of my neck!

Okay, first of all, compare the swatch of this lipstick on MUA with the swatch MAC has of CB96 on its website. MAC's website is useless when it comes to previewing the actual color of their lipsticks. This one looks practically brown in color on their website. So, good I got to see CB96 swatched on other sites because I would have never guessed how beautiful it really is.
This is my first experience with a frost lipstick from MAC. The frost here is really a golden sheen on top of a really wearable kind of-red. This lip color comes of as really multi-dimensional under lights. I'm really into MAC corals that could come off as red, but, um, aren't actually red. So CB96 joins Viva Glam Cyndi and Crosswires as my MAC lippies of choice. If you're into that kind of color, then by all means, get this one.

One of my all time favorite lipsticks. I can't add much else to this that others haven't said. But I will say that if you're fair, like an NC15-20, give it a whirl. It's a nice pop of color that no other line carries. It's a bit more golden coral on me than others, but I also like to pink it up a bit with either Wonderstruck or Red Devil glosses on top. When I go with a lip this bold, I tend to downplay the rest of my makeup, often just going for mascara and maybe a touch of Fleur Power blush with the 187 brush.

Another reviewer says you shouldn't wear this if you're very pale...well, I'm as pale as pale can be and CB96 looks HOT! It's an orangey-coral with gold shimmer. It's not frosted in the tacky 1980s way. This is my new go-to lipstick because I look "finished." The MUA suggested Love Nectar as a gloss over it and together they are perfect. I carry both everywhere now. Might want something heavier/darker in winter but for this time of year (late summer/autumn) it's divine. Thumbs up!

CB96 is a warm light red shimmer - one of my favorite MAC lipsticks
of all time. Very flattering on me from late spring through early autumn.
Gorgeous with white cottons and a tan. NC25.

Love love CB96!! It's a fabulous coral/shimmery color that looks fantastic on my NW20 skintone. Go easy on the blush however as lips needs to take centerstage with CB96. Staying power is fabulous as all MAC's lippies are!

I was looking for a coral lipstick and i came across the perfect one! I love the look of this against my colouring (NC42 in the summer). Its a coral with gold flecks and goes on really nicely. I prefer corals to reds and wear this with style poder blush on my cheeks - love the effect. Great if you like coral lipstick or don't want to wear red!

I randomly tried this on at a MAC counter, curious to see how a unique and bright color like this would look. I was pleasantly surprised with my sister to see that it looked great when applied lightly.
When applied lightly, the orange shows up semi-opaque with a slight duochrome of red. When applied heavy, the red shows up more and looks way too metallic on me. Although pretty, I would personally opt for a more coral or orange color like Vegas Volt or Morange.

I'm not a general fan of frosts, but the MUA tried this out on me with Mahogany lip liner and I fell in love! Beautiful orange-y colour with gold sparkle!

My search for the perfect coral is over! Much I love Vegas Volt (pinker) and the now sadly discontinued Eager (redder), this is my ideal everyday shade - it illuminates my face beautifully. It's a such a gorgeous, complex colour. A sheer pink or red-coral gloss over the top finishes it off, depending on which aspect of the colour I want to play up. As many others have said, it's a delightful summery shade, but I find it works just as well in the winter - against pale skin (and I have very pale blonde hair) it gives off a lovely, wholesome-1950s-pinup sort of vibe. My HG!
