I color my hair, and I use this shampoo once every 4-6 weeks to clarify it before dyeing. It works fine for what it is. Normally I'm really picky about what I put on my hair, but when you just need to strip all the gunk out, why spend lots of money? I've had the same $1 bottle in my shower for a year and it's only half empty.
My best (guy) friend visited recently and used this shampoo because everything else in my shower is girly and expensive. His hair was soft and it smelled good, which is another bonus of this product: nice, clean, unisex scent.

I use this product about once a week and follow it with a hair mask. This is such an amazing clarifying shampoo for under $1. You do need to either have a heavy conditioner to follow it or a hair mask because it is trying....being that it takes out everything in your hair. My hair does feel very clean after when it is dry. I love this and will repurchase.

I was previously using Bumble and Bumble's Sunday shampoo as a clarifying shampoo, but the reviews on MUA for this product persuaded me to try it and I'm so glad I did! The price in comparison to B&B is laughable - why would I ever buy anything else now?? It makes my hair squeaky clean without overdrying it and I will be repurchasing this for life.

This is perfect of your hair has a lot of build up and suffers from dandruff. This isn't a shampoo I would use everyday since it is very stripping, but if you need to deep clean your hair then I recommend this all the way. My scalp is clean and fresh. I would buy this again.

I was very surprised as I only bought this to get free shipping. For a dollar, it's a great shampoo, lathers well, smells fine. I have had terrible luck with Suave's lotions and other shampoos, but this one deserves a try.

I purchased this product because my hair had literally become so oily from over washing it that I needed to take two showers a day so I was desperately searching for a shampoo to take away the oil from my scalp so I only needed to wash my hair once a day. THIS DID THAT. This is not my every day shampoo but I use it as an occasional clarifying shampoo to remove build up and cannot say enough good things about it. I will admit that I am a shampoo snob but I will never turn my back on this shampoo that is such a gem. It's less than $2, does the job better than any other shampoo, smells perfectly fine too. If you need any sort of clarifying or purifying shampoo, look no more because this is it.

This is a good and basic shampoo. It cleans well and does not bring any side effects. The smell is barely there. My house has soft water, so I cannot attest to how well it maintains its ability to clean for people who live in hard-water areas. By the way, I have very long hair, and in order to protect my hair, I only use shampoo to clean my scalp, and use water to rinse out the rest of my hair. This is how hair should be washed, anyway. My only complaint is that sodium lauryl sulfate is the 3rd ingredient.

I feel the same way about this shampoo as many other reviewers. Its cheap and awesome!
My hair is fine and gets very oily at the roots with slight damage at the ends. This shampoo is a great clarifying shampoo for me. After using it, my hair is light, clean, and feels like hair again! (No residue) I still used my normal conditioner on my ends though.
I thought this shampoo would suck because it's so cheap; I was wrong. It's definately not for everyday, but I will keep in in rotation when my hair is dull and weighed down.
It's so cheap, you might as well give it a try!

For reference, my hair is 1c/f-m/ii-iii. I have a sensitive scalp, and generally oily skin and hair. I do use silicone products so I need to clarify about once per week. This shampoo cleans out the build up and oil in my hair so that my hair products work effectively again. It also doesn't irritate my scalp and smells and lathers nicely. Additionally, I think it helps keep my natural color fresh because I have hard water and this shampoo seems to strip out the discoloration from that. I also LOVE the low low price. My only complaint is that it can be a little stripping on my ends where my hair is dryer and more damaged. However, I did find a way to remedy this. First, I apply a thick but cheap conditioner (been using Suave Almond and Shea Butter) to my length and then rinse out as much as possible. Then, I use the shampoo to clarify. I follow it up with the Umberto Beverly Hills Volume conditioner (from Target) which pairs really nicely with this shampoo. I then add a little bit of a more moisturizing conditioner on my ends. The result is bouncy, shiny, and soft hair that I don't need to wash again for THREE days. That is great for me since my hair normally only lasts 1-2 days between washing, if I'm lucky!
Like the other reviewers suggested, this also doubles as a great makeup brush cleaner. I'll definitely be repurchasing.

I constantly suffered from hair loss and I think after using this shampoo, it lessened my hair fall. I do have hairfall but not as mush as it used to. Also this shampoo is so economical that very little goes long way. But constant use of this is not recommended as it can make your black hair slightly brownish tinted. Once in way using this product is good.

When I cross border shop in Buffalo, this is my go-to buy because any other "clarifying shampoo ( cough...Neutrogena ..cough ) here costs a fortune. So worth the money and works so well to get out all the product or build up, I stock up.You should too.

I have bought this product and the conditioner multiple times when I went through my hair dying phase (blue, purple, green, etc). It works really well and gets the job done.
However, if you are the type of person who prefers hair smelling good, this is not the product for you because it has no smell to it. It wasn't a problem until I dyed my hair back to brunette and the dye smell stayed within my hair for about 2 weeks which was a little embarrassing if someone were to smell my hair.
I am currently looking for a new shampoo with a smell because I have used this product since January and would like something new.

I've heard so many good things about this shampoo that I had to try it out. I know you're not suppose to use clarifying shampoo for every day, so I plan to use this only once per week or once every 2 weeks.
I could literally feel this shampoo working and removing all the build up in my hair as I rinsed it out. My roots felt squeaky clean, but not over drying. I didn't use a conditioner following this because I wanted to leave my hair/roots clean. I only applied a tiny amount of hair serum to the ends of my hair. My hair feels soft, weightless, shiny, and tangle free. Definitely a good buy and I will continue to use this.
*In case anyone wonders, I'm Asian with straight hair (past my shoulders). My hair tends to get oily rather quickly, so it'll be interesting to see if this shampoo helps with that.

I bought this product to remove styling product build up. It did that made my hair dry like broom straw. If you use it you will need to follow up with a moisture product or a silicone product. Which is what I've been doing normally like oil mixture this last time tresemee light oil shine spray. It works good I loved it but you will need something for the moisture it strips.

I picked up this clarifying shampoo at Meijer for $0.94 cents, and it performed just as well as many other clarifying products on the market. I don't recommend using this daily as it can be drying, but once a week before a weekly deep conditioner is just perfect. This shampoo is also good for cleaning makeup brushes.

I picked this up when I ran out of my VO5 Kiwi Lime Squeeze Clarifying shampoo. I remember when I was younger, we used to always have this shampoo in our bathroom. I used to love how it made my hair and scalp clean, without drying my hair out, and it added great shine.
It seems they have changed the formula. When I used it in the past, it was clear and the fragrance wasn't so powerful. Now, it makes my hair feel coated, which I wouldn't expect from a clarifying shampoo. I do think the price of this is wonderful, but I'll stick to VO5.

I love this stuff, at 99 cents a pop you really can't beat it! It does what it says... I usually add this into my shampoo rotation once a week or so just to get my hair squeaky clean and de-gunked....lol. Also this works amazing as a makeup brush cleanser!!! It might just be my favorite shampoo for deep cleaning brushes since it literally gets alllllllll the yucky makeup residue out without damaging the bristles! Love!

My favorite clarifying shampoo for getting product buildup and chlorine out of my hair. I use this once a week for a deep hair cleansing and it takes out all the buildup without stripping my hair of it's natural oils. I love the way my hair looks and feels after using this product & for the price you can't go wrong!! *Be careful not to overuse any clarifying shampoo including this one because it will dry out your hair!! Once a week is PLENTY.*
