I have struggled with oily skin all of my life (I'm 52) AND I have redness/sensitivity issues. My derm recommended this product to me years ago and I have used it faithfully. While it does not "control oil" (that's not what it's intended for) - it DOES clean my face and doesn't leave it feeling stripped. It is gentle yet effective. The lack of "sudsing" may seem to some like it's not working but that is not the case - foam does not necessarily equal clean. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a pure, daily cleanser that is effective yet gentle.

My only drawback is I wish it was offered in a squeeze tube rather than pump bottle as it is difficult to get all of the product out of the pump bottle conveniently.

I have heard wonderful things about this product but it did not work for me whatsoever. I have oily/combination skin and I felt like this didnt cleanse my face well enough. I think this particular product is mostly suitable for dry skin or sensitive skin but I would personally not recommend it for oily skin.

first of all i've been using this product for almost 5 years!
i've been using it since i'm in 3rd grade it is the best cleanser ever!
for those of you who has acne prone skin i recommend using beneoxyl or lemon for the treatment because it does not work to really clear up your acne but doesn't make it worst (except for hormonal acne) it stop me from breaking out outside my period
but in my period i just get 2-3 acne (hey, i'm a teenager)
thus, there is no cetaphil in my country so i have to go to singapore to get this
the price is reasonable for that big of face wash!

Love it, it's so gentle! Most cheaper cleansers have too much sodium laureth sulfate in them which always dries out my face, this has a much smaller amount than most so although there's enough to cleanse the muck of your face properly, it doesn't have the same drying effect. I love cetaphil 's moisturizer too, very hydrating.

I spent sooo long just trying to accept the fact that I had acne-prone skin until I bought Cetaphil (simply because I was out of cleanser) and this stuff is amazing! After one wash, my skin felt so clean and soft and not oily, my god it's actually so brilliant. I have normal - slightly oily skin and I noticed my spots started to shrink down drastically in the first couple of days. It's not a miracle product - I still have slight acne - but now it's hardly noticeable and can be covered up with a BB cream. I do use this with a face brush now, and it made a huge difference compared to just with my hands.

- Pros -
really does clean your skin
leaves it soft and non-oily
non-scented/only a slight "clean" scent

- Cons -
doesn't completely get rid of impurities, but reduces them drastically
the price ($35 New Zealand) was quite expensive for a drug store product, but completely worth it in my opinion

I find this cleanser to be very gentle and effective at cleaning my skin. It doesn't feel harsh in any way. I love it and would definitely recommend it, especially to those with sensitive/dry skin. It doesn't completely strip my skin and leave it feeling tight and painful like some cleansers do, but it still cleans effectively. If I'm wearing liquid/cream makeup on my face (e.g. concealer, tinted moisturizer), I like to remove that with a makeup remover before I use this cleanser because I'm not confident that the cleanser would remove it all on its own. I find it works fine for removing powder makeup.

It's a tad pricey, but it's definitely worth it. You can find it in Costco for a lot cheaper than at the drugstore.

The pump packaging is great. Very handy.

This has been my evening cleanser for the past couple of months and I love it. Its relatively inexpensive when you consider how much product you get. I got the large bottle (500mL) for $15.00 CDN and I've been using it for about 3 months now and I've still got a ton of product left. I love that its in a pump - easy to dispense onto my Clarisonic Mia2. I use about half a pump every night and that's enough to cover my entire face. My skin used to be a lot less sensitive than it is now and even during my first use, I didn't experience any irritation or break outs. Will definitely repurchase again when I run out. It says that this can be used without water - just wipe off with a tissue - which I find really gross. I wouldn't purposefully try it but its good to know that if I were in a pinch, I could still cleanse my face.

My skin is, well, acne prone, and I went to the doctor for it. He said for me to buy Cetaphil and it is AMAZING! I have acne on my chest too, and I used it on there and buy the next day it was a lot better. I still have acne, and use Cetaphil, and it can be pricey, but it is worth it!!

This is my everyday cleanser, I love this stuff! It really helps clean my skin and removes all the makeup and dirt on my face. Like it says, it's gentle and won't irritate you at all! One time I forgot to bring eye makeup remover with me on a trip so I used this on a cotton ball to take my makeup off and it worked like a charm! Although, I don't use this to take my eye makeup off, it does work that way. I totally recommend it for anyone!

I adore this cleanser. This is the only product that I have ever used on my face that doesn't cause extreme dryness or oiliness. It keeps breakouts away and gently removes makeup and dirt without being too harsh. I have used this for about two years now, and it has helped me so much. Makes your face feel so fresh and clean. I will always come back to this!

You know you've heard this one before. There are so many attractive and enticing lines out there to use and this isn't the most fancy or exotic one but trust, it does everything you need a cleanser to do and it's under $10. It's all the good skincare words (fragrance free, non comedogenic, hypoallergenic and oil free) plus inexpensive and great for your skin. I suggest it especially for dry to combination skin.

THIS is my HOLY GRAIL product. I could NEVER do without this! Before I started using this my skin definitely looked dull, had pretty bad oiliness in the summertime, broke out about twice a month, and had redness all over my face. Ever since I started using this my skin looks incredible! I haven't had a breakout since I started using it (4 months ago), it doesn't dry out my skin excessively (it actually feels nice and moisturized afterward) for being in the middle of a humid Florida summer my skin isn't oily at ALL, my redness has subsided to just a tinge of color on my cheeks, and my skin is SO glowy!! I stopped using foundation on a normal basis and just use BB cream now. My husband who really doesn't care much about makeup or skincare noted a HUGE difference in my skin and he started using Cetaphil too. He hasn't broken out in ages and his skin looks incredible. I'll never be without this product! Definitely a re-purchase!

Now, as far as being a makeup remover cleanser, I can't speak for. I use CVS Brand Cold Cream to remove my makeup and then use the Cetaphil cleanser.

I can't believe I haven't written a review on this gem of a product!!! So my absolute favorite use is as an eye makeup remover!!!! I have used it as my hg remover for at least 15 years if not longer. It is the only thing that actually removes all of my eye makeup (read: tons of mascara) without leaving an oily residue. It rinses cleanly and easily. I use this first then wash the rest of my face with a foamy cleanser.

I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin. This is a wonderfully mild and gentle cleanser that my dermo recommended years ago. At various times, I have used it with and without water, on my face and my body, and as an eye makeup remover and facial cleanser. I also used this on my baby's sensitive rash-prone skin. It is good for all of these.

I am never without this as an eye makeup remover!!!!

I'm a big cetaphil fan! A lot of the negative reviews remark on how bad it is at removing makeup and I would definitely agree, but I don't think that necessarily makes it useless. I usually use a separate face wash/makeup remover to get rid of my makeup and then use cetaphil to cleanse and I can really feel the difference to my skin! It feels refreshed and clean every time. My friend even borrowed some when she came over and forgot her facewash and was very sceptical about the non-foaming consistency but she remarked how clean her skin felt after using it! I have quite combination skin but this works perfectly in keeping it non-oily but refreshed and soft. Love it!

My new favourite cleanser! I have really sensitive skin and for the past I've years I had been using a brand called Simple. However, that recently sold out EVERYWHERE in my hometown, so I decided to reach for Cetaphil. My first thought was that it didn't seem to clean as well because its not foaming, but to my surprise I didn't break out from this at all. I also started to love the soft film like coat that it seemed to leave on my face after. It makes it feel soothed, as opposed to squeaky clean. I do feel as though I need to use a good make up remover before using this, but as a cleanser it does its job well.

This cleanser works pretty well, but not as an acne removing cleanser. It basically has one function - to wash your face. I liked this product because it didn't give me worse skin and it did do a good job "cleansing" my skin, but if you have bad acne on your face I would recommend putting off buying this until after it clears up. I wash my face with this and then use a ROC moisturizer and then my normal makeup.

Cetaphil may come at a modest price, but that is probably because this is far from the best cleanser out there. I have tried many cleansers for acne-prone skin, both drugstore and higher-end brands. The ingredients list of this cleanser should be enough to send most consumers running. There are many skin irritants present in this cleanser. I personally hate the feeling of Cetaphil on my face. This is the only cleanser that I have ever used that has given me a strange sensation after use. It is not quite painful, but not comfortable, either. And I can say that after having tried it several times over the last ten years, I have not seen any improvement in acne as a result of using this cleanser. Two enthusiastic thumbs down.

I read a lot of good reviews about this cleanser, so I really wanted to try it.
It's very gentle, yes it is. However I can't recommend it for people with normal or combination/oily skin.
I told my dermatologist I didn't like the product, and he explained me it's a good product for people with atopic dermatitis or that use very strong medicinal ointments (as in the acne cure).
I give it to my sister as a make up remover, but it doesn't work even for her!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this product. Every since I got into makeup a year ago I have been looking for a good makeup remover and I have finally found it. I have tried 2 other brands Clinique and Philosophy each being near the $20-$30 mark and found that while it removed most of my makeup it wasn't really removing all of it. This cleanser however does an amazing good at removing my makeup and at just cleansing my face. I have noticed after about 2 weeks of using this product that theres a definite difference in my skin that about 5 months ago started with a really bad acne breakout all of over my face (has never happened to me before!). Although it does not remove all of my waterproof eyeliner (a Pixi cosmetics product) this is my go to makeup remover/facial cleanser for everything else because I do have a eye makeup remover specifically becuz I use waterproof eyeliner. The packaging is also very convenient with the press down applicator that makes it easy to get product out without getting too much. Definitely will be buying again and again and again =)
