Stars N Rockets pulls too red on my eyes, but looks really nice as a shimmery violet blush. Most purple blushes are too brown, or too pink/red on my skin, but this is really pretty, in a slightly bruised sort of way. Urban Decay's Asphyxia is a close dupe.

Even though I own a TON of eyeshadows (both Naked palettes, custom MAC Z-Palette) I had nothing remotely similar to Stars 'N' Rockets so I decided to buy it. It's a beautiful duochrome, a mixture of light pink-purple with a blue iridescence. It's a Veluxe Pearl, my favourite MAC eyeshadow finish so the pigmentation and application are both excellent. Now, it is quite bright, but I can make it work in the daytime by wearing UD 'Sin' in my inner corner, Stars n Rockets all over the lid and blended out with Wedge. The key to making it work is to blend with browns such as Wedge, Kid or Cork. Another way to wear it is 'Sin' in the inner corner, Trax all over the lid and Stars 'N' Rockets in the crease, but still blended with brown. This way you get a hint of Stars 'N' Rockets if you're not sure of wearing it on the lid. Oh, and if you layer it over a black base, it turns into the most gorgeous purple-blue! (I've included a photo)

This is one of the few duochrome colours in the MAC pan eyeshadow range (excluding pigments), the other two being Vex and Club. As it is, the colour is nice, very fun and definitely for certain 'looks'. I'm not a huge purple fan as on asian skin it can look a bit contrived or very bruised.
As the MAC MUA was recommending this shade, my facial expression was one of scepticism verging on disinterest. However, he brought out a kohl liner and rubbed a little of this over it, and it went bright blue. A shade perhaps that can be duplicated by 'Freshwater' or 'Electric Eel' but where would be the fun in that? There's some slight purpley undertones which are subtle but substantial enough to make this look different from the true blue shades that MAC offer. I loved it!!!!!! Absolutely head over heels. When I first bought it, I wore it non stop for weeks as a liner (over NARS Via Veneto, UD 24/7 Perversion, MAC powerpoint liner Engraved) and got lots of compliments and the most I've ever had for any look from lots of guys (who let's face it, barely notice a thing most days).
I've taken one point off only for its limitations of use. I find I can't wear this as a purple eyeshadow - it just doesn't suit looks I'm comfortable with, and I wouldn't wear this bright a blue all over my lids for any sort of occasion. So I'm restricted to wearing it with 'sensible' colours to make them pop and my eyes really stand out. Looks great with MAC Amber Lights, Greensmoke and Coppering. Also looks fantastic (and probably my easiest and quickest look) with Illamasqua's Tango (a deep copper shade).

LOVE this eyeshadow! I layer it over a black base ( interestingly, I like to use smudgy Smolder eye kohl as a base and this really brings out the blue in this duo chrome). I like to pair it with Nocturnelle and/ or Parfait Amour.

Stars N Rockets is a beautiful iridescent duocrome eye shadow with pink/magenta and blue-violet colors in it. I used to have people ask me all the time what eye shadow I was wearing when I used this. I think it is very unique I have heard that Urban Decay does have a similar one but I haven't tried that one out yet. Stars N Rockets can be a little sheer but I like that because it is a very bright color and unless I am wearing this out at night I don't want it super super bold. It is buildable and applies smooth. I love to use this and lancome's iridescent purple-blue duochrome eyeshadow called drama in the crease with Stars N Rockets on the lid.

I love this colour! I had seen a swatch on temptalia (sorry if I spelled wrong!) and I loooved it. When I got it in the mail I wore it over knight divine and it was amazing for me ( wore it mostly as grey). The color payoff is good to me and its very easy to apply

I like this, but don't love it. It is very similar to Urban Decay Fishnet. I prefer the UD only because it is much more pigmented and applies more smoothly than Stars n Rockets. I have to apply a lot of SnR to get any color payoff.

This is a really pretty duochrome purple. You can accomplish some really unique looks with this shade. It's not great for everyday wear but I love it!

Stars n rockets is a beautiful warm mid toned magenta with icy cool toned peri-winkle blue & purple duo chrome. One of the best shadows I own from any brand. This is one shadow that you must build up to maximum intensity which is the only reason it got 4 lippies. Even with that problem stars n rockets is STILL a smooth, soft shadow with even coverage & long lasting staying power. It shows up true to color when using a plain white base I've hit pan on this. My favorite way to wear this is with MUFE # 160, a dark eggplant purple (outer corner) & naked lunch (under the brow bone).

I was looking for a medium, pinkish purple that would be suitable for an all-over lid shade, and this was the only one that looked suitable at the counter. The MAC website describes this as "Purple w/pink pearl" and that's about right, however their swatch is completely off, so don't even look at it. The pictures uploaded here seem to capture what the color is like in real life.
While the color looks nice in the pan, it is not very pigmented, and I could not get anything more than a sheer wash of color to show up on me no matter what brush I used. The only thing that seemed to work in getting this to show up was to use a sponge-tip applicator. I have had this sheerness issue with a few MAC eyeshadows because of the formula. So if you are having this issue, try using a good old sponge-tip applicator. I would not repurchase this because of how sheer it is, and it doesn't show up that great. If you are looking to incorporate this type of color into a look (using other purple shades) then I'd like to suggest the new Maybelline eye shadow palette in "Amethyst Ablaze" The formula is very smooth and they are pigmented - plus theres other shades in there to do various purple looks without having to buy them separately, and you pay less than the price of one MAC eyeshadow.

I saw a video by MUa Robert Jones on his academy and he did an eye using a gold eyeshadow and on the outer third of the eye he used an iridescent purple eyeshadow and this was the only one I could find. Purple is a real hard color to find in this shade. In his video he mentions that he is using a iridescent shadow ( he never says what he is using)so I found this shadow. It is very pretty on and I do like it but it takes a lot of shadow to make it show up, so therefore I would not purchase this color again. This was my first Mac eyeshdow.

This was my very first shadow I ever got from MAC. I just fell in love with it immediately after seeing it in the store. But even though I think it looks fab in the container, not so much on me. I've tried three different primers with no success of getting the color to pay off unless I pile and pile it on like mad. (My other MAC shadows have sooo much left in them with more use, while this is already more than halfway gone.) Even then the color just doesn't work. It's always not enough purple, or not enough pink. When applying just a bit under my lower lashline, I got a comment on how it really enhanced what eye circles I have. I'm sure this works for others so I'm not saying it's the worst shadow ever, just not the one for me.

This is a beautiful bold, yet iridescent purple with a hint of blue. There are not many shadows like it! I found it easy to work with, blendable and stunning. When I was going for a colourful yet smoky look I applied this over MAC Paint Pot in Painterly with Vanilla pigment as a highlight and Carbon eyeshadow on the outer V.
Along with some other reviewers I did find you needed to put in a little bit extra work to grab as much product as needed, however it also works wonderfully as a pop of colour under your lower rim. The only reason I would not repurchase is I'm more into a smoky neutral look these days!

My first mac shadow and I love it. It's really versatile and easy to work with. As I'm a bit of a newbie to this sort of thing, the colour was a bit intimidating at first. It really isn't - it goes with just about any other colour and layers from sheer to bold. I'm experimenting with this in the inner with browns and golds/bronzes for my day look and so far I'm enjoying it. Works nicely with my eyes and complexion. Agree with some comments - if you want to layer it on thick you might find that you chew through it quickly.

I really like this eyeshadow. The shade is very interesting and almost bold))) I love using in the middle of the lid with motif eyeshadow in the inner half and sketch in the outter corner. This eyeshadow can be used to add colour to the makeup or as an all over colour for a "bam-I-wear-pretty-eyeshadow" effect))))

This was my first ever MAC purchase and this one really caught my eye.
Although I initially bought it to go on my lids, it's too light (I like a dark/vibrant eye for both day & night) so I've started using it on my brow bone with Satellite Dreams on my lids for a perfect purple eye.

Stars N Rockets is so pretty!! Deffinately bold and unique! It's iridescent, which I find so intiguing!! It'spurple, with blue and pink in it, so depending on the light it changes colors. I love it!! Many wouldn't put it as an all over lid color but sometimes I will and use a nice brown in the crease and it looks so pretty! I've made it pretty darn daring when used with black for outer V and crease too!!! But ths is also pretty just using for a crease color. gorgeous color!!!

SA recommended I smudge Smoulder (eyeliner) around my eyelid and then dust it with this colour. It is amazing. It gave me a smokey deep indigo colour, and I always get a ton of compliments when I wear it. It works amazingly with my green eyes, making them really stand out. I would highly recommend this colour. Only complaint is that, to spread it evenly, I end up using a lot of this colour, and went through it super quick, even though I don't wear it every day.

This was probably the first MAC eyeshadow that I fell in love with and wore all the time for quite awhile. I love the pinkish purple and you can create many different looks with it. I still have my original S&R and use it on occasion, but my love affair with the shadow has faded and now it is used pretty rarely. I still love having it around and think it creates a very lovely effect with other purple shadows that enhance my brown eyes. I tend to stick to bronze and neutral shades now and the standout neutrals MAC carries (Antiqued, Coppering, Twinks, Mulch, etc.) have become my "new" favorites. I will always love it and will buy a new one when I run out of my current pan.

A very interesting purple which has blue and pink tones. It's iridescence can cause it to appear more blue or pink/purple depending on other colours. For example, if you applied this over black it would appear as blue! I love it as a colour pop on the bottom lashes and ever on the outer corner. It can also be a pretty crease colour for a pink/purple eye look. I haven't dared use it as an all over the lid colour because it is so bold! I really recommend having a look at this!
