My skin and scalp have become extremely sensitive the past few years. I can't use salon or traditional haircare products because of the irritating fragrance and preservatives like methylisothiazolinone. AND I can't use most organic products now because of the essential oils and their compounds like limonene & linalool. Because I've loved Paula's skincare products, I had high hopes for this shampoo -- despite it containing sodium laureth & ammonium lauryl sulfates.

But like the reviewer below me, this left my hair REALLY straw-like and mouse-y. It seemed to dull my summer highlights after just two uses. Like the conditioner, though.

I so wanted to like this, but it left my hair dry, lank, dull, and at the same time, greasy. A rating of 2 only because it's paraben-free.

I've been using this for two months now and am really liking the way is cleanses gently. I have eczema and cannot use scented body products without the eczema becoming red, inflamed and oozing. I also cannot use body products containing color additives and most plant oils commonly found in body washes break me out. Paula's H&B Shampoo works great for me. I can use it on my hair and need no conditioner--granted, my hair is chin length, fine, and not heavily damaged, but still dry from coloring my hair in the past. I can use this as a body wash without irritation--in fact, my skin feels calmer and without itch or irritation than with the Dove sensitive skin body wash I had been using. The Dove wash also seemed to be leaving a coating on my skin, and this does not. I can also use the H&B shampoo on my face and in place of bar soap. For me, this is a game changing product. I also used it to wash a new tattoo, keeping it clean while not overdrying it. It worked perfectly for that. You can buy travel size packets of this, another feature I really like, because it minimizes the amount of bottles I have to pack for a trip.

Very good product, especially for the body. The only reason it gets a 4 instead of a 5 is that it doesn't give my oily hair as much body as I get with shampoos like Prell or Suave Daily Clarifying. My hair feels clean and soft, but a bit limp.

WHAT IS IT? A detergent-based fragrance-free colour-free mild body/face/hair wash with mild emollients.

HOW DOES IT WORK? Excellent and this is wonderful for those of us who live in areas with hard water as the mild detergents allow this to rinse clean without residue even in very hard water.

The emollient content permits this to clean well without being overly drying.

PRICE: 13 USD for 600ml

WOULD YOU BUY AGAIN? Absolutely - best body wash and has the added benefit for working well for those of us who swim frequently and require something that is both gentle but also capable of removing chlorine

I absolutely *wuv* this product! After dying my hair red for a few years I decided to go back to my blonde natural self. Obviously, that required quite a large amound of irritating and drying products. Withing a few days though, my hair was again in perfect condition. So I can definitly say that it works wonders for both coloured hair (the red, which is a tough colour) and for quite dry hair. I am trying out different (read: cheaper) products now. But if nothing suits me, I would definitly repurchase!

I found this body wash/shampoo to be very (very) drying. My skin would itch after using it and looked slightly flakey. Paula's Choice has an excellent returns policy, so I sent it back and got a full refund. I've since returned to my LRP Lipikar cleanser and my skin is fine.

I've been using this product for a few years and I'm very happy with it. As a shampoo, there's never a build-up. As a body wash, it cleans thoroughly. I love it for travel because I can put it into a small container and use it for hair, face and body. Perhaps someone with dry skin and/or scalp wouldn't find it moisturizing enough, but for me, it's great.

I love this as a shampoo for my seven month old!!! She had eczema on her head and it was always cracked and oozing(!!) plus her scratching didn't make things any better. After using this for two weeks her head has almost completely healed and she hardly scratches it anymore! I use the body butter and body lotion along with this so I'm not sure if this is helping or not, but it's not irritating my babies' eczema and that's good enough for me.

I did try using this on my own hair once and I found that it didn't lather nicely at all. I know that lather doesn't play any part in how clean your hair gets, but I personally like having it there. Plus my hair didn't feel any cleaner or softer than when I used my regular shampoos. But since I didn't buy this for myself it's not that big of a deal and I'm giving it five lippies anyway. If I were to use it, I would only use it as a body wash but that's just my personal preference as I know some have had great results from using this as a shampoo as well.

As for the problems with the pump...after reading all the comments and reviews on it I decided against ordering it. Instead I use a Body Shop pump (the one you can buy separately) and it works beautifully.

I've tried some samples of PC Hair & Body Shampoo when travelling, and it's a decent overall cleanser. It does its job, and I really like it for not containing fragrance or colorants. I probably won't purchase, because there are much cheaper alternatives out there for the same purpose. Still, I like PC for offering convenient sample sachets, which I love to use on travels.

I am generally pleased with this product, having gone through almost an entire bottle. I have used it both as a shampoo and body wash, and I do think it lives up to its claims of being a fragrance-free,gentle overall wash. It is not a moisturizing product so it may not be for everyone - it merely cleans in a gentle manner. Being fragrance-free, it doesn't smell nice, but the scent that it does have is mild and unoffensive to me. I'd say that this is a good choice if you have sensitive skin. Not the most exciting product, though, so I'm not sure if I would buy it again. It does what it says it does though - it cleans hair and body with a gentle formula. That could be all anyone really needs.

I really like Paula's Choice. The shampoo is nice, it isn't harsh, it cleans my hair and doesn't make it feel dry. The conditioner is even better. It's a little expensive though. My salon brands aren't that much more $

I was very disappointed with this shampoo. I've purchased several items from Paula's Choice (I love their make-up brushes) but this has put me off ever buying anything again. Like another reviewer said, this is a "nothing" shampoo. There was no shine, no bounce, no clean-feel after washing. I would never buy this again and I'm sorry I wasted my money on it. I would've returned it except that the 30 days return by date had just run out when I realised this was no good.

I am a PC fan but this was unimpressive. The shampoo doesn't lather well and the pump needs reworking (as others pointed out). I have long straight normal hair and it leaves it in tangles. It's not awful, but it's not awesome. I used it as a body wash but my skin was dryer than usual after.
I suppose that if you're looking for a fragrance/dye/cruelty free shampoo this would be okay. It would likely make a great baby shampoo. There are other less expensive shampoos out there that I'm happy with that I will be buying in the future.

FYI, I do love the conditioner! ;-)

This is my HG shampoo. My skin and hairline are supersensitive and this doesn't give me the itchies, or acne. I use it as a body wash as well along with Cetaphil. It is not a moisturizing shampoo, but it cleans and doesn't strip my hair color, or dry out my skin. I have not found a problem with tangles if I use a conditioner afterwards and comb it through. I use PC conditioner as well and love it. The conditioner doubles as a nice shaving lotion. You can take PC shampoo and conditioner with you on vacation and get double duty out of both products.

Price increase warning: Paula's Choice has significantly raised the prices of its product samples while SIGNIFICANTLY reducing their size. If you're thinking about taking these with you on a trip, then you'll pay a LOT for that luxury. It's terribly disappointing. I could see raising the prices on the same-size samples, but to then make the samples SO MUCH smaller (from 4.4 ml. to 1.77 ml., for example) is just agonizing. It's such a greedy move.

I bought this for my husband. He loves it for both hair and body. He has super short hair so I can't recommend it for people with longer hair but he really likes it for a body wash - probably because he has dry skin and likes the whole idea of this being a 2-in-1.

I agree the pump needs reconfiguring. The top needs to extend longer into your hand. Other than that, this is a repurchase.

I love the idea of this product, being fragrance free and a dual purpose product. The biggest thing I don't like about the shampoo is that it makes my hair very tangly while shampooing and even after conditioning it is difficult to get the tangles out even using a detangling comb in the shower with conditioner in my hair. And because it is tangling my hair, it causes breakage when I try to comb it out. I don't think it does much for moisturizing or volumizing either. My hair does not seem quite as clean or full of body when I use this compared to other shampoos. Bummer.

I bought this shampoo because it is fragrance free.
I have difficult scalp (oily, with seb derm sometimes). This shampoo was not the solution for me, it made my scalp irritated and more oily.

I LOVE this shampoo! Cleans well and is fragrance free--perfect for my sensitive, eczema-prone skin. Great body wash (which saves lots of suitcase space when traveling!). And I use it to clean my brushes, too. Win-win-win!
