I can see a clear difference when I don't use this and when I do. Before I stumbled upon this, a couple hours after applying lipstick, it would creep into the wrinkles on my lips and make me look a lot older. It doesn't happen at all when I use MAC prep and prime. This has a tacky feel after you let it set so your lipstick and really stick to your lips.A lot of other people have this problem with the packaging too. The product ends up just sliding out of the tube, I've had to pick it up from off the floor, clean it and then put it back into the tube.

Just recently bought this in my quest to find something to make a Retro Matte lipstick not be so freaking Sahara drying.So. This is the only way to truly successfully wear the Retro Matte formula. The only thing that protects your lips, makes the application of the Retro Dry Nightmare easier, helps the touch ups, prevents the Retro Matte from flaking and from getting into all the lines of your lips.I am so mad right now.Don't get me wrong, the primer is a great product. Put it on, let it set for a minute, put on your lipstick. It can also be used over the lipstick to add moisture without ruining the matte texture and look, it can be used under or/and over a lip liner to make it seem like a matte lipstick. It makes the lipstick more comfortable on the lips, and doesn't alter the consistency, like so many lip balms do.I have tried it with a NYX Matte Lip Cream, it works great, I guess it would work well with other liquid lipsticks as well. Any lip product that dries your lips, use this and I think it will be a great solution, more often than not.A bit pricey, because you don't get a lot of product in the tube, but it performs so well that it's worth it. Packaging is cool. The reason I'm mad is because MAC has managed to create a lipstick formula that you almost HAVE to combine with this primer to make it work adequately. They sell a lipstick line, the infamous Retro Matte, that can't go alone. It must go with this. And they don't actually tell you that, even though the primer is of the same company! They just advertising the Retro Mattes as long-lasting, but they don't tell you that they're going to be such a great pain if you don't buy this as well.Anyway, bottom line I will repurchase and I am glad that I found something to make my All Fired Up work beautifully. I just wish that MAC a. was more informative on the issue andb. sold the bloody Retros with the primer to begin with. So much frustration would be avoided.

This is a must product for dry lips. My lips get dry really fast which makes wearing lipsticks a total mess: they either become dry and start to peel with matte lipsticks, or with creamy lipsticks they develop a sort of a thick layer which really messes up the way it looks. Before this product I've tried everything: lip glosses, vaseline, creams, you name it. I've eventually found this lip prep and prime and it's fantastic! I put it once or twice a day, wait a bit and then apply the lipstick. It does an amazing job at moisturizing my lips, makes matte lipsticks look amazing, and the best part is that it after applying it daily, it improved the overall condition of my lips. It's expensive but it does the job and I couldn't be more satisfied with the outcome.

I like this product mostly for just keeping my lipstick in tact for a long day at work. I think it'll last me quite a while, since I don't use it as much as I would a lip balm or another lip product that I have to constantly reapply. I swipe this on my top and bottom lips a few times and wait until its tacky and then I apply my lipstick! I'm a MAC lip product junky so I'm glad to have found this! My only gripe is that mine broke before I even got it (not sure if I can complain to MAC about this or not, however it isnt a big deal at all). Will probably repurchase but a little goes a long way so I'll have this one for a while!

I bought this because I'd purchased several lipsticks that, while gorgeous, was so moisturising I was afraid they'd slide right off my lips. Overall, I'm very happy with what this lip primer does. I put it on, wait for it to get a bit tacky on my lips, and then just apply my lipstick. With moisturising/shiny lipsticks it helps keep them in place longer, and with matte ones it helps them glide on easier as well as prevent the lips from looking dry. It even saved my Mary Kay nourishine plus lip gloss from collecting dust/going in the bin. It has always slid right off my lips before and put me off using it, but with this product underneath it had at the very least the normal staying power of a lipgloss, if not better. One thing I was pleasantly surprised about was the subtle but rather pleasant vanilla-ish scent/taste of the primer. The way the product looks, I expected it to both feel and taste a bit like a cheap glue-stick, to be honest. Don't let that put you off the product though! It's a handy one for anyone who loves wearing lipsticks and want to prolong the staying power a bit.

I love this lip primer! I use it before any lipstick, gloss or stain and it moisturizes perfectly and appears to smooth out the lines on my lips. I have tried other brands but always come back to Mac's. It is pricy, but works better than Fresh or Bite Beauty lip primers and their's is even more expensive.

I feel as though if you have to prime a lipstick then why bother it's just extra money for something that mac tells consumers that they need smh but what they need is to make matte lipsticks that don't sink into lip lines instead of an overload of unnecessary collections with a bunch of repromotes and lipsticks that look exactly like the last ones with stupid names smh.

So at first I thought why would I need a lipprimer.Nowadays it seems you have to prime everything before you can even start with your makeup. But then the Sa at the Mac counter applied this product before the Russian Red and the lipstick went on smoother (no tugging), stayed longer on my lips and worn down nicer. So long story short, I was sold. This product makes applying your matte lipsticks easier, makes the formula even more long wearing and no more dry lips :)

This is an epic product like, OMG! Why has this not been in my life forever?! Very well done, MAC. In a world with every other company coming out with matte liquid lipsticks? YOU NEED THIS. Makes for a comfortable experience ALL DAY LONG. Make sure you follow instructions by putting it on then allowing to get sticky before placing lip color on. I use this for those harder to work with lippes. For example, Kat Von D's Studded Kiss line of lippies are matte and they can be a bit patchy, particularly when you touch up. They go on much better in the morning after a layer of lip balm but if you place this product under them instead of lip balm it is very comfy all day! ALL DAY! I do not use lip balm if I'm going to use this. I have never and don't see a need to. One thing - Colourpop has a very good dupe of this as a lippie stick. It is called a primer also. I find them to be the same so if you want to save some $$$$.... But I will certainly be repurchasing this.

I'm not sure whether or not I'm using this product correctly, but I seem to be having a lot of issues with it. I bought it to see if it might keep products from sinking noticeably into my vertical lip lines while extending the wear-time. So far, I think it's extended wear time very slightly but caused some other issues (see below). I've tried it under a MAC lipstick, a MUFE lipstick, and a Lancome lipstick, and I'd say it really only worked properly with the MUFE lipstick. I wore it under MAC's "Girl About Town," and while it extended the wear, the pigment separated and sunk into my lips in a way I had not experienced previously with the color. I had a similar issue when I wore it under a Lancome Le Rouge Absolu (Rose Petale). The Lancome lipstick is on the older side, so it's possible that's why the pigment separated, but when a MAC lipstick separates over a MAC prep product, I think it's fair to be suspicious. The product smells fine (though it does have a smell), and it feels nice on the lips. I sometimes notice a faint chemical-y taste, but it's difficult to pinpoint whether or not that's from the primer itself, given that I'm always using it with another product. Regardless, this product hasn't really accomplished what I'd hoped it would accomplish, so I can't give it very high marks. I will keep experimenting and report back if I find a better way to use it.
