I'm glad I only got a couple of samples of this, because it's not my type of fragrance. Reminds me of a gorgeous, charming young...man. It could be a unisex fragrance- I think it would smell great on a man or someone manly... just not on me.

This is my most favorite, most repurchased fragrance in my collection. It's incredibly long lasting (you literally smell it from the time you put it on until you wash it off!) and unoffensive or aggressive in any way. I get so many compliments on this perfume and I don't even like telling people what it is because I want to keep it all to myself! Haha

I got a tester of this as gratis when I worked at Sephora. I like it a lot. I like fig frags and amber/sandalwood frags and this one has both. At first spray, the amber is a bit too obvious (amber can be tricky), but the dry down is very pleasant. I can smell the fig and I love that.

Uninteresting musky floral that I found to have a really strong plasticky smell, especially in the opening. (I did try this from a full manufacturer's sample vial; I suppose it is possible that it had turned somehow before I got it.) Really good lasting power, though.

On me it smells very floral and kind of like j'adore. It smells nice and classy, expensive and sophisticated. The sweetness in the scent is there but it's more subtle than in other perfumes. Smells like a night at the opera. I can't see myself wearing this all the time though. I'm not an 'opera' kinda gal.

One of my fave fragrances along with Versace Bright Crystal one but minus the latter 'very flowery scent' - its great for casual wear and evening, whats not to love. I hope they wont discontinue it, it is truly a good one for me at least :P
Light but not too light, feminine yet strong, its the 'golden middle ' :)

I adore this fragrance more than any other I own. I think I finally have an HG fragrance!! Every note of this works with my skin chemistry, and I've had comments from strangers... a bar tender who asked me what I was wearing now calls me Valentino and offered me a free cocktail if I'd let him sniff my neck!

I caught SO spraying some on his pillow before I left on holiday lol!

In NZ this is super cheap- around $80/90 less than you'd pay for CD or Armani, so it's great value, the bottle is simple and stunning, and the lasting power on me is around 5-6 hours. After that I can smell it on myself but I don't think anyone else can unless they're sitting right on top of me.

While this fragrance isn't original or particularly unique, it is a great "safe" scent. I would be comfortable wearing this anywhere as it is not provocative but lends a vague element of seductiveness. In other words, it is appropriate for both a date and dinner with the in-laws. The scent reminds me of the colder seasons; wrapped in cashmere by the fire, a warm cup of tea in hand. A tinge of sharpness lends itself to sophistication, while the fragrance remains very comforting and smooth.

UPDATE: After all this time, I still turn to this perfume for interviews, airplanes, or otherwise meeting people I'm unfamiliar with. I can spray a small amount, and still rest easy in the knowledge that I smell nice but will not run the risk of offending anyone.

Oh, how I love this perfume!
It is light, sophisticated and feminine, and not too expensive. (I buy mine on eBay - haven't payed over $20 for 1.6 oz.)
You know it's good when your perfume-hating husband changes his regular 'smells like bugspray' response to a silent nod of approval.
I have two bosses, both over 50. And BOTH of them volunteered on different occasions to tell me that l smelled nice. I am not even mentioning multiple complements from my female coleagues.
Valentino V Absolu is in a red bottle and although it also smells very nice, it is more of a young adult/summer smell because it has a fruity note added. Making the smell more on the side of 'delicious' and 'yummy', not 'sophisticated'.

Very spicy! Lasts forever...you almost can't wash it off. It definitely stays on your clothes. You smell it every second you're wearing it.

RIS a decant and fell in love with it from the first spray! Its so non-offensive that almost every one, all ages can use. And its suitable for night and day! It smells kinda sweet on me, and its not that feminine either. Its difficult to find in store, as I went around most of the dept stores and they did not stock it but its available in the perfume shop (duh! totally didnt think of this shop!). They only had the 30ml bottle and that was just under £30, so its ok-priced.
Will always repurchase!

While I prefer its bolder sister scent, V Absolu, this is really lovely for daytime. I agree with a previous reviewer that this is a "safe" scent - it shouldn't offend anyone and would go from the office to cocktails with friends easily. It's not a seductive, femme fatale sort of perfume...just a smooth, pleasing fragrance. The bath gel is good, too.

This smells like all the other sickly sweet fragrances that are currently on the market. Glad I tested it in the store before purchasing. Very cloying fruit and candy is all I get. No thanks.

I love this scent. I remember getting a whiff of it back in Europe in '05 and since then, I had been waiting for the chance to buy it myself and I must say that I am definitely satisfied. This version of V is light, perfect for the day. Just a spritz or two and you're good to go.

I LOVE this scent. It's sweet while still being sexy. The smell stays very close to my skin making it unoffensive. It's great for all times of the day and all seasons. I wish it lasted longer though. I bought the lotion (which smells completely different than the EDP in my opinion) but the scent is still gone after about 3 hours! That's not what I would expect from an EDP!

I absolutely LOVE this fragrance! I received a sample from Sephora and immediately fell in love with the way it smells on me. I believe that a person's body chemistry and natural smell affects the way a fragrance will smell on that person. That being said, this fragrance smelled AMAZING on me, but so-so on a friend of mine. It is a classy, elegant smell that I feel can be worn in the evening and during the day. I've received compliments when I've worn this and I plan on buying a large size of this perfume very soon!

If you're looking for a warm oriental to wear during the day, Valentino V is worth a sniff but if you don't like vanilla stay away as this is the note that lingers after all others are gone. That said, this is a nicely balanced fragrance that doesn't overpower. I wasn't impressed with its staying power at first, but I'm typing this almost 24 hours after spraying it on and my wrists are still nicely perfumed.
