I'm in LOVE with this shade. It's a beautiful champagne gold with silver glitter. It's a multi-tasker, to. It looks beautiful on the lid, but I love it as a tear duct highlight as well. It goes on opaquely with a great metallic, foiled effect, even when dry and without primer. The glitter wasn't gritty, but without primer, there was a moderate amount of fallout (primer resolves this). Without a base, this wore excellently for more than 8 hours. With a base, it made it to the 15 hour mark looking flawless, with no fallout. I'm so glad this shadow didn't get discontinued, and would gladly repurchase.

Glitteriest UD shade I've come across yet, most likely to destroy your finished face, and hard to get out of the pan. NOT WORTH IT. I hate this UD shade more than anything else. I barely touched it in my Ammo palette and I depotted it and threw it out because I hated looking at it.

It's a metallic beige with an almost green tint, that can subtly enhance the eye when applied. A lot of people complained about glitter chunks, and major-super-duper-glittery-disgusting fall-out, which I did not experience. I applied this color with my finger, and some of the glitter pieces WERE a little extreme, but none fell onto my cheeks or got anywhere else.
(MAYBE it's because of the primer I used, I don't know!)
But, anyway, it's a gorgeous, fresh color that totally enhances your peepers, and makes them look very alive and frosty! I love it and I wear it often!

I can't even begin to explain how complicated this shade is. FIrst it is difficult to get out of the pan unless you use it with a damp brush. Then the fall out is unreal- glitter all over the place and throughout the day it continues to have fall out all over the eyelashes and the face. It looks nice once it is on, but it's so difficult to use that I will not ever be using this shade again.

I love this color. I had no fall out, but maybe it was my brush. You can maybe put a tissue or something up under your eyes to prevent that, but if that doesn't work, take a piece of Scotch tape and press it on the back of your hand a couple times to get most of the stickiness off then use that to grab your fall out. But really I didn't have that problem with this, not like I've had with other glittery shadows. Anyway, I just bought it for the color and because I couldn't get a replacement pan for my Z pallete at MAC of the Glamorous Gold so I was just looking for a gold color to wear for the holidays. This was far too expensive though for me to repurchase unless I got it in a kit or something. The kits are def. worth it. I mean I LOVE LOVE LOVE UD, and would buy all of their products if I could afford them, but I can't. :( They make excellent stuff though and you have to pay for high quality I guess.

Dear Urban Decay, please, please bring out a Maui w/less Wowie! I love this shade soooo much, but can barely wear it because no matter how careful you are, you get glitter on your cheeks (I am almost 40...not pretty). The color is heaven, but the glitter is hell. Alas, you rot in purgatory until UD figures out a way to tone down the Wowie.

I don't generally do light colored or cool toned eyeshadows and in the pan this looked like a silvery taupe that I wasn't sure I could pull off. However, once on it was quite pretty. Big chunks of silver glitter top this not gray, not white but something in between color. The pigmentation and texture, as with all UD shadows in my experience, is top quality with little to no budging, fading or flaking (except a few glitter pieces). I like to wear this in the winter for a nighttime look with black winger liner and red lipstick.

This is one of my favourite eyeshadows. It looks gold/kahki/greenish to me. It's wonderfully metallic and has sparkles in it!!! It's very smooth, works wet and dry. Very creative packaging. No complaints here. Well worth the money.

Maui Wowie is such a beautiful shade that I feel that Urban Decay really shouldn't have given it such a cheesy, tacky name. I mean, dude. "Maui Wowie"?
Anyway, like previously stated, I'm absolutely in LOVE with it--so much that I could literally sit and stare at it all day long because it's that pretty. Its color--a pale silvery champagne with silver and gold gliter--is so beautiful! The pictures don't do justice.
The texture, like all Urban Decay eyeshadows, is very smooth and buttery. There is a little bit of fall-out, like others mentioned, but that's why you're supposed to tap off the excess off the brush and use a primer/base so that the eyeshadow can adhere to your eyelids, hence making the glitter in the eyeshadow "sticking" to your lids instead of falling off. Using too much product will cause fall-out too, but you don't even need that much product to begin with, seeing as it's pretty pigmented.
Maui Wowie is included in the following Urban Decay palettes: Summer of Love, Fun, and Ammo. It's also available as a single eyeshadow, retailing at $18 each.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

I bought this eyeshadow a few days ago and I'm in love with it. The color is gorgeous and the staying power (when worn with a primer- haven't tried it without) is excellent. The glitter fallout is a little annoying but just tap your brush before applying or use a fan brush after and that fixes it! I have a feeling I'll be using this e/s allllllll the time. Highly recommend.

I LOVE this color. It's gorgeous and perfect with my hazel eyes. It does have quite some fallout because of the glitter, but it's nothing a little makeup remover can't fix. I alternate between this color and Blunt every day.

I had an event recently, and had no idea how to fix my face for it, so I went to the "fix-me-now" counter at Sephora and asked them to, well, fix me now. The guy there told me that gold makes hazel eyes look amazing, and he was absolutely right. Then he gave me a demo, and that's where the trouble started.
The thing is . . . I watched him tap excess powder off his brush before applying the shadow to my lids, and yet somehow the glitter still fell down all over my cheeks before I was even finished browsing for other products! Luckily, I happened to glance in a mirror before heading to the register. I swapped Maui Wowie out for Ruthless, which *looked* fairly similar in the store (they're not . . . I was wrong. I actually like Ruthless MUCH better than Maui Wowie, but it turned out to be shimmery taupe instead of gold).
By the time I got home, I looked like I'd been glitterbombed with extreme prejudice. Not fun. I've heard that using a primer beforehand can stop this effect, but I have no desire to pay even more money to stop an $18 product from falling apart on me ahead of schedule. Maybe that's an unenlightened perspective, but there you have it.
I wound up wearing Ruthless to my event and liked it MUCH better. Ruthless is the perfect, universally flattering taupe, and it makes good use of UD's famous formulas to give you a subtle color payoff that lasts all night with zero creasing. (No fallout either . . . but, of course, it doesn't have the giant glitter chunks that Maui Wowie does.) I can't give Maui Wowie zero stars in good conscience, because the gold base tone was phenomenal, but I'm still looking for a similar shade without the "loose fish scales" effect!

Love this eye shadow, HG status all the way~!
Use this eye shadow everyday, like seriously, this is the only shadow I have bought more then 4 times. Usually I never hit the pan on a eye shadow before I retire it but not with this one. I only pray that urban decay never stops making this!! I am curious though to try the reformulated version, I really hope they didnt screw it up LOL. The only complaint I have on the old version Im still using now is that the glitter migrates down my cheeks threw out the day :/
UPDATE:
Stopped using this as the fall out was to much and I was tired of people pointing out "the glitter" on my face. Knocked it down a lippie.

Maui Wowie is a nice color, it brightens without giving that overly frosty look certain lighter shimmers can give. I do wish that UD made a version without the glitter because of fallot issues, but Benefit's cream shadow in Birthday Suit is a very similar color that is shimmery without the glitter bomb.

This shade looks like a greenish-grey gold in the container with lots of gold/silver glitter. It almost turns out like a metallic olive on my skin, and yes it is glittery! Not the best for my skin tone, but an exciting color I must say. Only wish I could make it work..

Maui Wowie is a color that I never thought I would like as much as I do! It really brightens the eye area. To avoid glitter fallout, put your brush in the shadow and TAP OFF THE EXCESS!!! It's so funny to me that people complain about the glitter fall out when there are plenty of ways to avoid it. Anyways, this color is pretty and I love it! Would repurchase! :)

I adore this eyeshadow, it is so beautiful.
Maui Wowie shows up as a pale-ish antique-gold shade on me and really brings out the green in my eyes. It has a lovely silky texture and applies so smoothy. The fine glitter particles lend a gorgeous sparkle without looking OTT. Worn over primer, this shadow really stays put.
I'm not a fan of the fall-out which I initially get under my eyes and cheeks after application, but I just use a dab of make-up remover and I don't get any more after that.
A resounding YES to a re-purchase!

I love this shadow color. It is soo shimmery, silky and pretty, BUT as everyone else said it is TOO damn glittery. Come on Urban Decay.... No one wants to have a glitter face....Except for when I am going to a club, but if so I can add my own damn glitter. I love this shadow like I said, but I cannot wear it thanks to all the glitter ;(
I sometimes just blow on my brush before applying it to my lids and that helps a bit. I also put a tissue under my eyes until I am done with my eye makeup so all the glitter falls there, but I seriously hate to have to put so much work into figuring out how to avoid the annoying glitter.

Mowie Wowie is one of my favorite eye shadows from the Book of Shadows 3, its a beautiful color on my skin tone, it looks amazing with nearly any color I blend with it, and I like the glitter (until if falls on.my cheeks). I like to make a smoky eye using Mowie wowie, suspect, and smog, I always get complimented when I do it. I've never liked or worn golden, sandy, or natural colors until I bought this palette and started experimenting with all of the colors, now I'm hooked to Mowie wowi.
