I have very dry skin and suffer from redness, blotchy cheeks and the odd blemish. I had ventured around trying samples of more expensive cleansers and exfoliators from the likes of Clarins etc, but fell upon this as a cheap option to tide me over during a particularly 'bad skin' month.
When I first started using this my skin did feel excessively dry, small dry patches appeared but I knew that was mainly my skin adjusting to a new product as well as the cold weather dehydrating my already dry skin. I used this at least once a day if not twice, it's easy to use in the shower or at the sink for a morning/night routine. I just dampen my face, cover my face in the clay like wash, then massage the skin in circular motions focusing on places where I feel my pores are most visible - then rinse.
After a week or two I couldn't be without this product, I've already bought another tube even though I'm no where near low. My blemishes are all clearing up great and my over all redness/patchiness has pretty much gone away! My skin looks much clearer, smoother and healthier and because of this I've found my foundation sits much happier on my skin without moving or sitting in dry patches or creases in the skin.
I do recommend finding a routine to suit you best with this wash, I found with dry skin it was a struggle to find cleansers to purify my pores and get rid of blemishes without it stripping out oil and causing dryness - so combated this issue by using Body Shop's Vitamin E cream, as well as Castor Oil on an evening on my dryer areas. I've never been happier with my skin, so please give this a go!

This product is the reason I finally, after years of reading reviews on this page decided to join and write a review of my own. It is by far the best cleanser I have ever used and I have used A LOT of cleansers in my lifetime. I've got quite a problematic skin, very prone to hormonal breakouts, especially on the chin, large pores, blackheads but also quite sensitive with some dry areas. My skin reacts very easily and very angrily to most products so I have to be careful with what I use on my face. After trying literally everything from very harsh acne products to gentle and all-natural cleansers, and using a fortune along the way I was soo happy to find this product (albeit a little annoyed I didn't find it earlier as I could've saved myself a lot of prescious time and money). Oh well. But this stuff is amazing, my skin has honestly never been this clear! I use it with my clarisonic and together they work wonders keeping spots at bay. I don't even need to moisturize every night anymore because my skin just feels so much softer too. I've used this for almost 2 years now and have tried something different in between for a change a couple of times which has always resulted in breakouts. Hence the quick return to my beloved Neutrogena.

I hated this. I was looking for a clay based mask at the store and was suckered into buying it. There's nothing out there like it. It sounded like a great idea - a mask and cleanser in one! In theory, it's awesome - in execution - no thanks.
Used as a cleanser it was okay. That's why I give it two lippies. But it felt harsh on my skin - it was nice in the summer when my skin gets really oily and feels grimey at the end of the day. But I hated that tingly minty feeling it gives - sort of like there's menthol in the ingredients (maybe it's salicylic acid or a ton of alcohol? Not sure.) My skin felt very clean after use, but as a cleanser, it's much too heavy. The consistency is like a thick goopy lotion - that lathers. Kinda weird. It also takes a while to rinse off. I prefer lighter gel cleansers.
I hated using this as a mask, which is really what I bought it for. I put on a layer and it felt super gross on my face. It just stayed creamy and I prefer my masks to dry fast and dry tight. It did a good job of soaking up the oil on my face but I never knew how long to leave it on for as it doesn't dry.
It wasn't very effective on my blackheads and acne either. I used it up as a cleanser and never bought it again.

Have used this for years for almost 8 years! I used this in combination with other treatments to clear my acne. The last year and a half i have tried many different brands drugstore and high end because my skin became more dry and i though i needed to change cleanser and all either broke me out or did not clean my face well. I used Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser basically for the past year thinking it suited my skin better but had developed spots again and was wondering why. I switched to this again two days ago and my skin is clear already! This cleans your skin do deeply and removes absolutely everything. My face after the first wash felt super duper clean and refreshed for the first time after a whole year of using cetaphil! Even after a few hours my face still feels clean and fresh! I LOVE this! Just because this formulated for oily doesnt mean dry acne prone skin can not use it!

I used this product maybe a year ago, I loved it. But because I like to try out new things, I moved on. I recently bought it again and I fell back in love. It's such a refreshing sliiightly grainy cream, that really wakes you up in the mornings. Whenever my skin looked dull I used it as a mask (feels and looks like a clay mask), and after washing it off my skin felt super smooth, awake and clean. Love, love, love this!

this is holy grail stuff right here! NOTHING sorts my skin out like this, even changing to a different wash over the weekend leaves my skin looking awful. it has a weird consistency, kind of thick and creamy so doesn't lather up when you wash your face with it. but OH MAN it really does the job! unclogs my pores without turning the bumps into spots, fades spots quickly, and using it as a mask leaves my pores tight and clean. the smell is also really pleasant and clean. if you have problems with acne and oiliness, this is the wash for you! :)

For over a year I have been under a reasonable amount of stress, like most of the planet, however since May this year my skin has broken out like it never has before. Wow I didn't know stress could visually affect your face.....
Anyhoo, after doing a lot of research of ingredients and realising there isn't a lot of difference between the more expensive brands and some drug store ones...
I thought I would try a clay based cleanser. the first one I tried was the new clearasil vitamins mask n wash, LOVE IT. good things do not last forever and I had to replace & they had sold out at my local dealer. Enter Neutrogena's 2 n 1 wash n mask.
Using London water, this stuff dries my skin out like a mo-fo. The menthol scent is way too strong and I can understand why it is in the formula so give that cooling sensation, but damn its harsh. It is also difficult to rinse off as well....
So use with caution. You have been warned.

This was a decent cleanser and although it didn't help with acne, I love how refreshing this felt. It gets a tingly cooling feeling after application, and I liked that it doubled as a mask. Although it doesn't do anything special for my skin, I would repurchase if I ever needed a basic cleanser in the morning.

I have combination, acne prone skin, but I now have it under control for the most part. I am in Sweden now actually, and out of nowhere my face broke out horribly all over! I don't have access to a dermatologist (because I'm on a different continent!) so I needed to find an OTC cleanser to clear up my skin. Most of the brands here are unfamiliar. The ones I have heard of I only remembered hearing their name. The only truly recognizable brand I could find was neutrogena, and since the choices were limited, I went with this.
This cleanser is very creamy, but don't be fooled, it's extremely drying! Especially since I paired it with tazorac cream (I had no choice). My skin started peeling off on certain parts of my face (even the oilier parts). Thankfully, within 2 weeks of using this nightly (clinique face wash in the morning) my skin cleared up. A heavier moisturizer healed the dry patches. Balance has been restored. I wouldn't use this as a regular cleanser, but it was so helpful in clearing up my skin crisis, I might buy it again just in case.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash Mask = SPOTS, NO MORE!
- Can be used as a leave-on mask or quick cleansing wash.
- With the help of facial/makeup removing wipes beforehand, this mask will effectively cleanse away any remaining dirt or makeup on the face and prevent spots/pimples from appearing.
- Leaves your skin feeling cool, fresh and clean.
- Friendly to the skin, it doesn't dry mine out (I have normal/combination).
- 150ml, this product has lasted me for about 6-7 months.
- Very affordable.
Side Note:
I would recommend others not to solely rely on just this product in your cleansing routine. Continue using facial wipes to remove dirt and makeup, and then apply the Neutrogena mask afterwards to further cleanse away any traces that still remains on your face. Make sure to use moisturising cream too!

I started using this as a wash 2 years back. I don't use it consistently because I would use another product to try from time to time. Anyway, it helped reduce the number of acne I had and kind of cleared my face (though I still got scars) but it didn't help me prevent to breakout. Last month, I started using it as a mask every other night. It made my face softer but it dried my face so much...so I got more acne now. I stopped using it then.

I have dry skin and this didn`t help me at all. Only made my skin drier and drier by day and more spots and comedones started to appear, and since my face was so dry I couldn`t pop those and I had to go to the skin doc, who also said that I should not definitely use those products that dry skin, cause drier the skin is, spots and comedones go deeper and deeper and it really hard to get rid of them. At start actually it cleared my face but yeah.. didn`t turn out so well

I'm really enjoying this product. I've just finished up my first tube and now I'm on my second. I've never done that before with any cleanser, so that tells you just how much I like it. By finishing the tube I've given it a fair trial and for me, it really works. I have oily skin that's also sensitive but this stuff hasn't irritated it at all. I found the texture to be rather odd at first. It has the same consistency as toothpaste, but I soon got used to it. It doesn't lather which I think plays a big part in the lack of irritation on my fussy skin. You can tell there's menthol in the ingredients due to the slightly cooling sensation it gives when applied, but I don't seem to have issues with that. It's nice and refreshing in the morning and likewise at night.
As a mask I've found it to be very effective. It helps bring impurities to the surface, while also helping to dry out any existing spots. I can honestly say I've seen a decrease in the amount of spots and blemishes I've had since using this product.
I'm giving it a '2' for the price as it's around the £3 - £4 mark depending on where you go. As for the packaging I'm giving it a '5' as I like the tube with the flip top - nothing fancy, but does the job perfectly. I'd definitely buy this product again. I'm even thinking about chucking out all my old cleansers that had something wrong with them and just sticking to this. Until my skin requirements change, I'll keep on using it.

Initially I really loved this product, it gave a great fresh feeling as a cleanser. But now I've found that every time I've used it I get these red little bumps on my forehead that look like a heat rash!! The skin all around that area is really dry and I think it must be the acid or something in the product that is making me have this allergic reaction. Quite disappointed because other Neutrogena products have worked great on me :( I don't recommend this product if you have highly sensitive skin or very dry skin!!

This product is great for me to use on my t-zone as that is my problematic area. To use it as a wash i only use it on my nose and forehead because they are oily and the product is quite drying and tightening, so there is no need to use it on dryer areas. As a mask i enjoy using it once a week, it applys nicely however like many masks its sometimes difficult to wash off. I find that this product does make a difference in my spots and it also makes my skin less oily(only for an hour or so after use but its an extra bonus, right:D?). It hasn't brought me out in any rashes or more spots, i will continue buying the product and reccomend it to oily/combination/acne prone skin!:)

Initally this did WONDERS for my skin. Cleared it up as good as possible and provided a good "two in one" use. However, latterly it's caused my skin added problems. It's VERY drying. I don't have particularly dry skin but this made me flake and I noticed crusty dead skin around my nose and occasionally on my cheeks. It also left me feeling very tight. Initally I thought this was beneficial as it was obviously working on my spots. Now, it just feels and looks terrible. What I thought was a star item is no more, I'm afraid. If anyone knows how to sort my skin, message me!
