I have natural straight asian hair (no dyeing, chemical treatments done). My hair can get weighed down easily, it is hard to achieve volume that stays or hold certain hairstyles. This stuff gives my hair extra "grip" so that my hair keeps the the style I create. I can achieve insanely BIG hair or perky curls that stay all day. It has a soft matte finish so you won't get shiny/crunchy hair and yet you will get the control you want/need. I use it strictly for hair styling, particularly when I need my hair to stay put all day.
My boyfriend also has untreated asian hair, and as most asian guys know, their hair can be ridiculously stubborn. My boyfriend wears his hair in a modern slickback (longer, higher on the top and short hair on the sides) so he uses this to gain control of his hair. It gets the hair going in the direction he needs without weighing it down and then uses Bumble & Bumble's Sumotech to give it flexible hold to finish. It holds the style all day, and he can refresh it by running his fingers through his hair throughout the day as needed.
This is a fantastic styling product as is most of Bumble & Bumbles styling products. B&B products are quite expensive but they really do work and they have some really unique products to help you achieve styles that you wouldn't normally be able to.

I'm not sure I would pay full-price for this, but I found it for $12.99 at Ross and while that's not dirt cheap it's darn good for the amount of use I'm getting out of it.
Summary: It's a medium-hold styling creme, people. Not a gel, not a mousse, a CREAM. It won't keep your style crisp like hair spray, it won't make it shiny and sparkly like silicone, and yes it will "weigh you down" if you put lots of it in long hair. Just try to conceptualize coating each little strand of hair on your with a tiny bit of goop that tends to keep the hairs stuck together. If that sounds good to you, you'll like this. If not, you won't.
Me, I have super thick, dry, curly, partially-bleached blonde hair a little bit past my shoulders, and I am working on doing as little as possible with it in order to grow it out and reduce adding extra damage. At the moment, I am washing about twice a week. After I wash, I add in a glop of this while my hair is soaking wet, comb it through, and allow it to dry naturally. It comes out with slightly chunky, defined waves.
The bonus, for ME personally, is that it's a soft enough hold that the next morning I can brush out my hair (usually a huge no-no with curls, but mine are kind of smooth waves after this) and it still looks decent. Sometimes I flat iron a little (usually just touch-ups, leaving it wavy). Sometimes I don't. On day three or four I add some dry shampoo at the roots and some leave-in conditioner or oil on the bottom. When I finally wash it out, it leaves no major residue and causes no build-up.
If I want better hold or more "shine" I just use a mouse or shine spray on top of the styling creme.
Essentially ... it works with my routine for the moment and I'm sticking to it!

I have Asian long layered fine hair but lots of it. I mix 2 pea size amounts of this with a pea size of Grooming Creme and apply it to my towel dried roots only for natural volume and hold. For all over hold, I spray Styling Lotion (spray) all over my towel dried hair before blowdrying.

My hair is curly and highlighted and heavily layered. My ends are dry and my roots can lay flat - pretty huh?! Anyway, I have closets and drawers full of products - you can tell by all of my reviews. I only just purchased this last week bc it was on clearance at bed bath beyond in their pharmacy section. I don't think I would have tried it with the full price tag. the reviews seem to be mostly love or hate and I have to say that so far I love it! The other reviews are very helpful on how to use this. When I used it by itself my hair had hold, but felt a little stiff. I now use a leave in conditioner first and then put this in my hair. A Nickel size amount and I even use some on my roots for a little lift. At first I thought that it would make them greasy, but if used sparingly it does not. I then will use some kind of moisturizing product like fekkai crème or dermorganic oil on the ends to soften them up a bit. My curls are looking good without any mousse or gel stiffness. The nice thing is that it does not cause my hair to lay flat on top. It seems like all the other styling products I have are either too volumizing (so it dries out my hair) or too moisturizing (making it look greasy). This seems to work both ways. Even on its own it was fine, but waaayy better when used in conjunction with other products. The best part is that I can just rewet my hair the next day and the curls are great again. Sometimes I don't even have to do that bc it holds the curl so well. It is going to kill me to have to buy another bottle at full price but I think I am going to have to!!

I swapped for this without any expectations but I ended up liking this more than I thought I would! I apply a dime/nickel sized amount to towel-dried hair before blow drying, This is great for styling my hair and giving it some lift. It isn't too heavy for my fine hair, which was a concern of mine when I saw its paste-like consistency. I've also tried it on dry hair but I think I like it better when I use it while heat styling to get more volume.

Ok, so this product WILL make your hair greasy, sticky, and weighed down if you use too much which is very easy to do. I use it on about the first two inches of my roots and it really is the best volumizer I've used and helps with teasing. But I just need a TINY amount, like a pea and a half. I don't use it on the rest of my hair but I probably would if I planned on curling it. If you just want to blow dry it out and have it silky, this will not work.

I have lots and lots of fine straight hair. It is naturally very silky but flat so I use products to add volume and texture. This gives great, non-sticky grip to my hair and I've used it when my hair has been halfway down my back and when it's been a short bob. Because it doesn't really excel in volume, I stray, but keep coming back to this.

I LOVE this!!!! Although I normally don't style my hair, the bottle said that this product could be used as a leave-in conditioner for damp hair. I've used up the entire bottle and can't wait to re-purchase another one. While it is expensive, I do feel like it is worth it because it left my hair shiny, strong, and very smooth and soft.

No no no. I don't have particularly thick or coarse hair, but it's not thin or fine either, and this stuff was just terrible. It weighs hair down, feels sticky, and doesn't even really provide hold. It made my hair look dull and dirty (and not even in a good way...like the Texture creme) and gave it that tangle-y dry feeling that comes with products that have a lot of alcohol in them. Just awful.

I am not a fan. My hair extremely thick and long. I have corase hair that has a wave and frizz. This creme did nothing when I used the recommended amount but when I tried using more product, it left my hair feeling goopy and dirty.

I stumbled upon this product and now, I don't know how I ever lived without it. I have straight, fine (but tons of it) bleached hair that is a tad below my chin...an a-line bob that I am attempting to grow out. My hair gets weighed down so easy...I am always attempting to add volume to it and once it passes my chin, it gets harder and harder to style/get the look I want. Because of that I have kept my hair short for over 20 years.. With this product I really feel like I can grow my hair out issue free now. The best way I can describe what this does is it adds control, shape and a smoothness to my hair and it stays. It doesn't give it tons of volume but because of the other things it does, I don't need the volume...Kind of like when you come out of the salon with hair that is smooth and with great shape....but when you try to do it on your own, you try doing tons of things that just dry out your hair and end up with a fluffy mess of crispy hair that falls flat quickly. Using this creme makes my hair stay exactly the same at night as it was in the morning..It doesn't make my hair soft....but not dry either...It isn't any more drying then a misting of light hairspray. I use velcro rollers to get the bit of volume/shape I need....this product just makes sure whatever style I create stays that way. This stuff is HG status for me.
Edit: after finishing up one bottle I am no longer in love. It did dry out my hair ..so disappointed.

I had used this product years ago, saw it at a CCO outlet a month or so ago and decided to buy it again (I had re-purchased several times before). I don't know why I ever stopped using this stuff. My hair is baby fine, but I have a lot of it. It's layered with medium length. I use this primarily to lift my roots. While my hair is damp I use about a nickel sized blob in my roots and massaged through the rest of the hair shaft. This gives my hair texture, grip, and lift. It's really the only styling product I need if I could only use one thing. Most days, this and a little hairspray is all I use. I think everyone with fine hair should try this. Love it!

LOVE!!! So versatile!!! Its like 2 products in 1. Volume and great hold memory. Keep experimenting with it and dont let a first miserable attempt with it dismay you. I have fine and medium thickness hair that is very silky so when I really want to pump it up I comb a good amount through then blow dry and style. Yes, it makes your hair a little tangled and rough; but when you want to do some special styles that need an overall hard working product you gotta turn to this. I love it for setting any kind of curl or intricate up-dos. I always use it as a base product then add more specific products over it. Cons: pricey and lack of a good smell.

I switch between Styling Creme and Texture too add body and grip to my long fine, soft hair, and I love them both. Styling Creme doesn't give me crazy big hair, but it creates natural looking fulness, delivers soft hold and still allows my hair to move without being stiff or sticky. It simply makes my hair look a lot better, but it doesn't feel like there's product in it. Most importantly, it doesn't make my hair greasy at all. I wash every three days and this doesn't leave any build up. I like to mix it with a small drop of Brilliantine for extra shine and movement. It's a keeper, and I'm gonna buy the full size when I'm done with my 2 oz bottle (a little goes a long way).

This product has turned my mornings around. Instead of fighting my hair until I could cry, I use this and I'm styled and out in the door in record time.
For reference, let me describe my hair. It's shoulder length, lightly layered, thick and heavy, but the individual hairs are fine and silky. In other words I have a lot of fine, silky hair. I must have volume in the crown.
After shampooing (I shampoo daily), I comb an oil of some kind(current favorite is the Kendi oil from Alterna) thru from maybe the ears down and let hair air dry while I apply makeup.
After makeup is finished, I add about a nickle-sized amount of the B&B cream to the roots of my hair just in the crown area. If you use too much, hair will feel a little stiff.
I blow dry using a brush for lift in the top, and a round brush for the remainder. Then I put a couple of Velcro rollers in the top for maybe 5 minutes.
After I remove the rollers, I fluff a little, spray lightly with my grail h/s, Sebastian Shaper Plus, and I'm done. No teasing, or trying to "push" my hair into a shape before freezing into place with hair spray.
This product is expensive, but I use very little each time so it lasts forever even with daily use. I won't be without it, and won't be shopping other volume products since discovering the B&B.

I love this styling cream for my hair. I have fine, curly hair, currently cut very short. This product gives me light hold, shine and I'm able to style my hair. It gives me the styling power of a gel, without the wet look, and adds softness and shine. It leaves my hair touchable.

I got a 4 oz bottle when it was on clearance I didn't expect much from this, but I gave it shot. I am almost done with my 4 oz bottle after 4 months and I might get a bigger bottle. I like this product keeps my hair straight with out weighing it down and giving it volume.

I had high expectation for this product and it did not live up to it's hype (or price!!) at all. Don't expect it to hold your style for more than 2 hours. I've used it multiple times before curling my (very) long hair, and the curls fall out as if I had zero product in. I've even tried using a larger amount and it still didn't do the job. Another bottle to the collection under the sink.
