This product doesn't really do what it says it does. My shadow still moves and I think you're better of using UD potion primer or putting a bit of powder on top. I find this product works better as a concealer. Quite disappointing and not worth the price.

Love this as concealer on area above the lid. I have been using this for a few mos. Asian C3 and obvious shadowing all around the eye area, this was the PERFECT thing. Working in a school, I rarely do more than minimal makeup to work. The formulation is light yet creamy and gives a perfect powder soft finish and is undetectable while it takes away all the orangey darkness above and around my lid area. I do use a separate concealer for under eye of course. But this product has changed my life. And it feels so good going on!
I should say I never use this as an eye shadow primer bc of all the neg reviews. I see no need to even try. But for my purposes, as long as they sell it I will repurchase.

This stuff sucks. After being an avid MAC shadow user, the girl at the counter suggested I use a primer under my dark shadows to avoid creasing. It doesn't work for more than 4 hours. Creasing begins after and it's thick and gunkie. Won't buy again.

I was skeptical to try this but since UDPP no longer works for me (makes my eyes dry and patchy) I had to try something. So took a chance and I'm glad I did. This primer does something to make my cream shadows more alive looking for lack of a better description. My matte shadows appear more natural and everything stays put. LOVE it. I have used Too Faced Shadow Insurance and liked it, but it has been a couple of years since I've used it, so for now, I will stick with MAC and I will repurchase.

Yes, I have read, and reread reviews and I still bought this rubbish (I suppose I was hopeful that they listened and reformulated, but alas they didn't). Honestly Mac, you have some stellar shadows and yet you sell this. I really wish I could return this but I can't in the UK. And I am too embarrassed to sell/swap because it really is that dreadful and wouldn't wish it on anyone else.

I've never tried other eye primer yet, except for MAC. I can't say it's excellent, but it does help to hold my eye liner, not letting it to smudge due to my oily eye lid.
I think it has meet up with the basic requirement of what a eye primer has got to do. But if you are looking for a primer that has multi-functions, you might have to look for other brands then.

Just for the heck of it, I asked for a sample of this when I was at the MAC counter last month. I couldn't believe that something touted as "Prep+Prime EYE" from a company that makes such wonderful Paint Pots that work marvelously as shadow primers/bases themselves (even though that's not their only purpose or their original purpose) could actually be as bad as most of the reviews here say it is. While I do trust the reviews of my MUA sisters and brothers, I really wanted to see for myself. Let's just say, I am glad I only had a sample. This stuff is dreadful. It creases and does nothing to keep my shadow in place or fresh looking for even half a day, let alone all day long. For those who like the "colour correcting" aspect of this product, Painterly or Soft Ochre Paint Pot, UDPP in Eden or Laura Mercier's Eye Basics all do this and do it 100 times better than Prep+Prime Eye. Laura Mercier's Eye Basics also comes in quite a few shades of "nude", very much like face foundation.
I have to say that it surprises me that MAC keeps this product in their line. Their other Prep+Prime products are first rate but this stuff....major let down.

Disappointed.
: *(
I have hooded eyelids and eye shadow tends to crease easily on me. Add to this I do not have a lot of property around my eye lids. This means with little hooded eye lids I need to keep it simple. I need a primer to keep the eye shadow where it needs to stay. This did not work for me. Crease CITY!!! And worse with the creases came flakey-ness and an ugly mess. I tried this with my Urban Decay NAKED 2. And found the UD shadow works best without any primer. This primer made the eye make up too heavy. Not for me. I do not want creases.
Maybe it works better for the dry eyelid lady with lots of area to shadow.

Even in the winter, my eye shadow ended up creasing by the end of the day. I much prefer Urban Decay Primer Potion.

I know this product doesn't get a lot of love, but it's got one thing going that I've yet to find elsewhere in a primer: it gives my eyeshadow a neutral color base, which is really important to me.
I have it in the Light shade and it really does wonders for slight discoloration.
After it is applied , I use Coastal Scents Shadow Worx, which is avery good primer. If I am using Detrivore, fyrinnae or Darling Girl loose eyeshadow, I will either add Pixy Epoxy or Detrivore's primer over the top.
This lasts all day, no creasing, and that is a miracle.
I can not use it just as a primer, sadly it creases.
Also, I can't use Detrivore's primer over it alone or ir pills over the course of the day.
Until I can find a primer that both covers and doesn't crease, this combo works.
If someone reads this and has a holy grail primer that also provides coverage, shoot me a pm, I'd love to know!

I was expecting to hate this judging by the reviews here, but I actually like this primer a lot. Yes, the packaging isn't great, but the product itself is good. I wouldn't say it is the best eye primer on the market in terms of lasting power or creasing, but what I really like is how true my shadow colors apply with this underneath. To deal with creasing just try applying a little less.

I got this in 'light boost' and I quite like it for my undereye circles. It gives okay coverage, and doesn't dry my skin, like some products do. I'm not crazy about the twist pen sort of packaging, though. It seems like it's getting dry so I twist it, and none comes out, so I keep going, and it's nothing...nothing.....nothing........great big glob of makeup :/ Overall I rate it a 3.5/5 It's a good product, but i'm still looking for a HG concealer, so I may not repurchase

Okay, it's not as good as UDPP for holding eye makeup without creasing or fading for as long as UDPP does...BUT, it has it's advantages.
It's moisturizing and great to use under the eye as well as on top. I use UDPP over it, actually. But without UDPP, it still manages to hold my quality shadows and liner for at least 8 hours on my oily lids without creasing or fading. And even then, with as bad as my creasing and fading is without primer, my make up still looks pretty darn good. Minimal creasing, practically no fading.
So I think this is just a gentler eye primer, over all. Nothing wrong with that. If I'm doing a no shadow day, this is a great way to even out my entire eye area and holds my liner just perfecty.
I like that it's in a little flat pot so that you can get to ALL of it, too. People complain about the hygiene but honestlly, just WASH YOUR HANDS...you should be doing that before applying anything to your face, anyway, imho.
This stuff doesn't deserve the bad rap it's getting...I expected it to be awful, but it's great for PREP and prime...hence the name...

I'm surprised by the negative reviews. Age is a factor. If I was young, I wouldn't bother with this product. For those of us who are in the category of needing a little help, this is a great product.
This is just a light eye cream, almost gel like. It's not a concealer, although you could use it for that purpose if there's not a lot to hide under your eye.
I wanted something to lightly moisturize my eye area prior to makeup application. It makes a smooth canvas which allows me to apply my concealer below the eye with ease. The caffeine in the formula works on reducing some of the puffiness I have in the morning from water retention.
As for eye makeup on top of the product, I think it gives it a little more staying power, but then again, I'm not going out dancing all night and looking in the mirror at 2 am to see if my makeup is still intact. But if I put on my eye makeup at 6 pm for an evening out with my husband, it is still on when I'm removing it around 11.
Be sure not to use too much product. I do 1/2 pump for each eye, not a full pump for each eye - this may help with some of the greasiness that I've seen others talk about. If you don't like it, return it.
Cost was $30 for .5 oz which is dept store brand appropriate. Packaging is good - a pump which dispenses and will help to maintain the stability of the antioxidants of which there are many and this is beneficial to our eyes.

Two words -- it creases. I find that after 3-4 hrs of use, the entire artwork on my eyelids (base + powder eye shadows) will have creased noticeably. One solution seems to be to blend it with MAC Painterly or "Soft ochre" paint pots, but then again, one can use the latter two on their own as bases, and they would work perfectly well. One of the few dud products from an otherwise quite good brand, unfortunately.

I have tried this primer before and ran out of it therefore I started using UDPP. When my UDPP ran out I bought this product again and I have noticed a huge difference between the two. This primer does not work really well on my oily lids compared to the other, it causes my eyeshadow to crease and my lids become oily later on the day. The packaging is just acceptable due to the fact that it can be quite unhygienic.

I'm in the minority here.... but I may be using this product differently than everyone else does. I'm 52, and don't wear much eye makeup (I think it makes me look even older). I use this primer occasionally to reduce the redness of my eyelids (I'm very fair, and have red hair) and find that it does a wonderful job for that. I use the light tone, and just dab it on very lightly. If it seems too bright, I might lightly apply some neutral eyeshadow over it, and that's about it. For a wedding this past weekend I used a little eyeliner over that, and it did all seem to stay put through a very long, very hot afternoon and evening. Again, I don't know if it has more/less staying power than other primers, as I'm basically using it as a concealer. Also, the container I have is several years old - so I don't know if they've changed the formulation since then or not. Hope not, as this is among the very few makeup items I would re-buy.
