Monarch if simply .. STUNNING! It's a soft light coral shade, loaded with shimmer. Looks stunning paired with a light liner of Mahogany lipliner. It's a frost formula that applies with nice pigmentation, and looks amazing paired with bronze, burgundy or even smokey green shadows and peachy cheeks. Another discontineud MAC shade that I adore, so I use it sparingly and am always on the prowl for another tube. This is a unique she in my collection .. because it's so hard to find a coral lipstick that doesn't look "loud". On my NC42 skintone, this is a perfect balance of coral and peach, looks quite pretty and soft once applied. Even more gorgeous topped with gloss! Rave from me!

I just recieved this in a swap, not even sure I really wanted another coral lipstick.. however this is HG material. It is not quite as bright a coral as flowerplay so I feel I can wear it for work without looking too done. Because it is a frost, it lasts longer than flowerplay. Stays looking fresh for quite a bit longer. I am wearing it with mac liner in whirl.

Monarch is a vibrant coral shade with frost. I like this, but I don't love it. I like See Sheer more because it's not as bright; better for my coloring. NW20

I fell for the LE hype (what can I say, I'm a sucker) so when I saw this at my local CCO, I snatched it up. It's a nice coral-ish lipstick, leaving a nice sheer wash of medium pink with shimmery warm golden undertones. It applies light and smooth for a frost lipstick. It's a fine lipstick, but to be honest I'm perplexed at the super high ratings this has received so far -- it's nice but nothing special. Still, thumbs up for only $10, but not worth going through any pains to acquire at this point, since it's LE.

I agree with the positive comments. i bought this after reading the rave reviews on here (which has been the source of practically all my purchases over the last 2 months anyways, haha). i was definitely impressed. it's a natural looking lipstick but it somehow brings out the glow in your skin. it's like, if you put it on when you're tired or sick or whatever, it just makes you look more radiant. i can't explain it. to me, it's a light red/darkish pinkish with coral kind of color. ok i've babbled enough. just go buy it.

Why did I not get this when it was out??? I recently bought this limited edition lipstick from eaby. Its a beautiful true coral with gorgeous golden shimmer. It looks great with my golden complexion. I just wish I bought it earlier, because summer is practically over!

When I think of the perfect coral Monarch comes to my mind. It's gorgeous. Very frosty though but looks really hot with Love Nectar lustreglasss over it. I prefer it to Dainty Cake cos DC was a bit too gold for me although I still wear it with Tartlette lipglass over it to tone down the frost. Monarch is a bit more orange while Dainty Cake is more red I think. Try this with green eyeshadows like Parrot or Steamy. Perfect tropical summer look! Shame it's LE.

This color looked gorgeous in the tube but on me (medium pigmented lips, FFF) sorry to rain on the parade, but it was scary Florida orange. Boo. Love Dainty Cake, which is lighter and of course more gold frost. Monarch is just too pigmented and too bright neon for me. However, I still give it 3 lippies b/cs obviously others with different coloring find that it works.

I thought because I'd already purchased Dainty Cake and Cockatease that my needs for coral lipsticks were fulfilled. Before these I was a girl who liked her soft and subtle neutrals (High Tea, VGV, etc.) and never ventured into the shocking bright. Now I've come to believe that Monarch is the best of the three corals MAC has to offer.

Dainty Cake is a bit more pink than Monarch and has a very obvious golden sheen (which is nice if you don't have chapped lips). Cockatease is a lighter version of Monarch's true coral with a silver sparkly texture infused in as well. Monarch, however, is the best of the three. It has the true coral that Dainty Cake is misisng and has a pearly finish that isn't overbearingly sparkly or frosty. It can be made more pink or more red depending what kind of liner it is paired with. This color is gorgeous, if a bit scary in the tube on the display. I wish this wasn't LE! I'd buy another one, but three coral lipsticks seems like enough already!

For ONCE, an LE item that I am honestly, truly, crazy about, rather than just raving for a self fulfilled prophecy, as most raves for LE items tend to be. I ordered this even though I had seen it in the store and didn't like it. I didn't try it on, but I swiped it on my hand. it looked too granma orange coral on my hand so I didn't try it on my mouth. I went home, looked at the raves on this website for this color and decided that I do want it, just because of the hype and because it's LE. in fact I ordered a bunch of other junk on the MAC website that had the LE triangle next to it as well.
when I tried this color on all by itself, it was amazing. no color has ever brightened up my pale complexion like this. I thought it would clash horribly, but it doesn't. it's perfectly neutral, which is rare for shades of coral. it's the perfect coral, not too orange, not too pink, a perfect balance with a pretty gold sheen. if applied lightly it's more of a deep peachy-pink rather than coral. I do want to stock up but I'll be smart and remind myself that MAC has no more color ideas and I should find the same color in every other collection to come. if not, then I guess I'll be kicking myself for taking it for granted.

I Love this lipstick- and this is from a self-avowed coral HATER. It has more pink than most corals and less orange. It is quite flattering on this PPP.

Monarch is THE coral I have been searching for! Looks perfect when paired with lure lipliner!

BEAUTIFUL! But MAC, why can't this one be permanent?

As every other reviewer has already stated, this is a pretty corraly, pinky, peachy shade--perfect for spring. I bought Lure lip pencil to go with it (also from the Madame B collection) and the duo is perfect together. You can layer this shade with either Tartlette lipglass (from the High Tea collection) or the older Lychee Luxe lipglass. I own both lipglass shades, and they both work beautifully with the lipliner and lipstick. On my pale complexion with pigmented lips and dark hair and eyes I did not think that this lipstick would work, but it is perfect. I would repurchase. The perfect summer lip look!

Perfect shade for the spring and summer. On me (NC15, dark brown eyes, average lip pigmentation) Monarch is a gorgeous blend of coral, orange, and pink. There is just enough pink to balance the hues out. Great color! The frost formula is very pretty - shimmery, but not over the top - and the staying power is excellent. Two thumbs up from me. :-)

I'm an NC20 LLL brown hair/eyes and this is a great coral/orange on me. Love the frost formula and it's lasts forever on me. Also looks good when I self-tan, just a pretty perfect springy shade!

Great color! I am a MMM with dark brown hair and eyes and I love how this looks. Yes, it looks kinda orangey, but I'd say it's more coral than orange. The frost isn't "in your face", it's suttle and beautiful. Perfect lippie for spring and summer.

For some reason, I am drawn more towards the Madame B lipsticks rather than the eyeshadows. This color stood out to me more so than the others, so I picked it up. I thought it might be too orange, but it's not. I absolutely love this color and it looks awesome with clear gloss on top. Run out and get this before it's gone!

After testing out all the Madame B. lipsticks on my hand, I finally narrowed it down to Monarch and Flitter and ended up getting both. It's the perfect springtime shade and at first I thought it wouldn't be flattering since I don't usually wear peachy/coral shades, but THIS IS. It is amazing and I'm instantly in love. It looks even nicer with a gloss over it [like the corresponding Love Nectar lustreglass]. I've used it so far with snowgirl lipglass and wonderstruck lustreglass. Wonderful :)
