Smelled it for the first time in TJMaxx. Sprayed a couple of squirts and walked around the store. On me it smells light, a bit powdery, clean and feminine but not too sweet. Went back and bought it. So far I love it. I think this will be nice to wear to work because it is light enough. Not my HG, but a nice change from Very Wang classic and Sheer Veil. I suppose I like the rosy scents.
EDIT: I changed to a 1 overall and NO to purchase again. I wore this to work today and it literally made me feel queasy and foggy. If "cloying" means nauseating, consider me cloyed.

I have a sample of this and decided to try it at work 2 days ago... well, it smelled OK when I sprayed, was nothing impressive, but it was strong, and just maybe an hour after it didn't smell very much but it smelled kinda bad!! I will get rid of that sample and I will never buy that perfume!

To me, this doesn't smell good at all. Par Amour is a combination of sugar, fresh notes, caramel, and bad floral. Not horrible but didn't work for me.

It is not possible to buy anything in the parfumarie this days without getting a sample of this. I can only imagine they are so generous with samples as this fragrance is so bad. It smeels more like an air freshener than a perfume. The description states that it is suppose to release passion, feminity and seduction .... ja... I guess if one does not know what those things are then it may be possible to find it in this perfume. This fragrance supposedly contains: Pink Peppercorns, Black currents for spicy freshness. Ottoman Rose, Sandalwood, Siamese Benzoin.

It's a nice fragrance, but I wouldn't buy it if it's not on sale. I like the design of the bottle, and the smell is very nice on me. It’s lasting power is also very good, I’ve been wearing it all day without reapplying. In fact, I just bought another one for half price in the sale.

Smells like many other fragrances I tried in the past that I haven't liked. It has a grandmother feeling to it. I also reminds me of several men's fragrances from back in the day that I really didn't like. I couldn't place what it smelled like because it's actually men's colognes it reminds me of and not women's fragrances.. I asked a couple of co-workers what they thought of it and both made that smirky "ick" face and one said "old" the other said "grammyish". I couldn't agree more.

Just like everyone's reviews, i smell a strong scent of scandalwood and not much of rose. I got the big bottle of it as a free gift and was quite septical of it. Mine is the EDP version and the scent is long lasting.

Despite its "grandmother"scent like what some described, i find that its actually very suitable for me and i like it alot. It's probably not a summer/day perfume, makes a better perfume at night. Its so strong that i believe it may cause some ppl's nose to be sensitive from it. On the overall i like it but may move on to try other fragrances.

I bought this after buying Par Amour Toujours because I was hoping it would be a little more substantial than its sister scent and I could layer. This is a cute scent and heavier than toujours. The best thing about this is that Par Amour is a sandalwood scent that can still be pulled off in the summer. However I am disappointed because, like its sister, this product only lasts about ten minutes on me. Layering the two (par amour and par amour toujours) is really quite nice, but unfortunately the staying power is still lacking.
If ever they repackage or reformulate I would rebuy, but in its current iteration, no. This is light like an eau de cologne and repeated spritzing gets old after a while.

I bought this after trying it at the Clarins counter and wearing it all day. I love it! It's very warm and inviting, with a slight touch of rose. I'm not a big floral scent fan, but for me, this is perfect! The rose isn't overly strong. You get more of the peppercorns and the sandalwood. Some say it is sweet or cloying, but on me it doesn't do that. It smells more spicy, woodsy and warm with just a hint of floral. Lasts all day, too!

I bought the Par Amour EDT at TJ MAXX a couple of weeks ago, then went back about the EDP. I love this stuff. Great light scent when working out at the gym.

On me, the strongest note is the sandalwood, and that's good because I do not like how overpowering rose can be. It is a heavy scent and it reminds me of something that I cannot place. I think that's why I don't wear it often, and why I won't buy it (the sample I have is more than enough). It smells nice on me and is not offensive in any way, but I can't shake the feeling that it belongs to someone else. It's like borrowing a jacket and the scent of it constantly reminds you that you are wearing someone else's clothing. Unsettling.

I only have a sample of this but I actually rather like it. I am on the search for a new "everyday" perfume and I was pleasantly surprised by Par Amour -- especially after reading the less-than-glowing reviews here LOL. Sweet scents tend to go very well with my body chemistry (i.e. Pink Sugar) as do scents with rose and musk notes and this fragrance is no exception. I am not good with notes but I can definitely smell the sandalwood throughout the day. I am a graduate student so I am looking for a perfume that smells nice but isn't overly formal (for example, I LOVE Chanel Coco but it just isn't a "T-shirt and jeans, going to class" kind of scent) and I think this could end up fitting the bill well. Judging from the reviews, this seems to be a YMMV scent. It is on my short list of potential new signature fragrances.

Got this as a gift, so have no idea what it costs, but I would not buy it at all. On me, this is a very light scent - all I could pick up was sandalwood- but somehow "elderly." I will see if my grandmother (who is 93) would like it. I do not know anyone else who is old enough to wear this scent. It's horrible and I generally like sandalwood.

This can be layered with it's joyful little sister fragrance Toujours Amour or worn solo. Notes of sandalwood, rose and pink peppercorns. Very long lasting, sophisticated and somewhat serious. This reminds me of the older, classic scents and it is a nice departure from the usual stuff one finds on the fragrance counter these days.

like toujours, par amour smells very pure-more like essential oils than perfume! and that's a GOOD thing...it's a little too complicated for me,i prefer toujours because it's more fresh and light! par amour lasts longer though!!!

A spicy rose-scent with pink pepper that reminds me of something i have smelled before...This is nothing like what you would find in my fragrance drawer, but maybe - just maybe, if I should buy something with roses this might be it. Rose scents are not appealing to me, I easily pass on Stella, Tresor, and others alike. On me it is not cloyingly sweet, but rosy and peppery and dry. Very feminime, slightly too heavy. Very special IMO, like up-in-the-Ultraviolet-alley and something I have to grow into. As of now, I don't know if I really would buy it - but if so, I would certainly have sampled it a lot of times first. UPDATE: sampled it sometimes, and will not be purchasing. It turns too sweet on me.

I got a full size (1.7 oz) bottle for free from volunteering for a focus group. I would never buy this product just from the overly cutesy-lovey-dovey pkg and bottle design alone. I sprayed it on my forearm, and it's a very sweet, sandalwood/rosey smell. Not my style. It reminded me of Liz Taylor's Passion (baby powder smell)! Yuck, and very old-lady, in my mind. Cloyingly sweet, as other readers aptly put it. I can't believe it's over $60USD (from another reviewer). Overpriced for the simplicity of the fragrance. I prefer my fave CK Truth (although discontinued now, sadly). This is definitely not for me, but would be great for anyone who loves lots of red hearts and cutesy packaging, the wide, heavy bottle (again, w/the red heart spritzer head), and powdery sweet (LT Passion) scent. The box of the perfume also contains a pseudo valentine message in a tiny card envelope, sealed with a red heart sticker. Ugh. Cutesy. This is going in my give-to-friends sector of my closet - or up for low-threshold swapping to get it off my hands!
